I found it very difficult to name a single feeling or to say that I loved it or hated it and be sure. The story follows Atticus a widowed father of two young children; Jem who's the older brother and Scout the smart little sister. The whole book was written from a child perspective, Scout's perspective.
Atticus is a wise father and he teaches his children about life in a really wonderful way. He always answers their questions and never push them to talk which is pretty awesome of a dad in that era. Atticus is a lawyer and he was assigned to defend a black man, who was convicted of raping White girl and setting is 1920s Alabama. Back in that time if you smiled or even been nice to a black person you're going to be bullied for it and they will call you names. However Atticus decides to defend him, really defend him not because he was assigned to do that, but because that's what his morals tells him to do.
It's not only about racism, it's about family neighbors and friends. It's about life and how to live in it with all the bad people and the people who assume and never ask.

It was not as creepy as the first one, and I honestly don't know if it was because I got used to her creepiness or it was actually less creepy. The writing is beautiful and delightful, but still I'm not a fan of the characters. I still can't understand how did the kids love Mary Poppins when she showed them no affection whatsoever. ...more

I didn't hate the book, but it made me feel awful. Let's get the obvious thing, the thing that made me give two stars rather than one. The writing is beautiful, and sassy. The characters and plot twist were not.... The book is very creepy, bleak and awful. Mary Poppins was heartless, obnoxious and weird. Not the good thing, the awful kind of weirdness. Her attitude was not pleasant, and I hated how she treated the kids, and everyone els. The kids Michael and Jane, sorry to say this, but they were stupid and I just couldn't understand how would they like a person like Mary. I just couldn't. The book is twelve chapters, and every chapter is a new story/adventure with Mary and the kids, but here is the thing, for me all the stories had no meaning except one, the one about the twins, and how they can talk and understand the sun and the stars and everything, but it ended up so badly, like why would you ruin it like that? Idk. Ugh. Anyway I'm reading the second book very soon. ...more
