It is pretty slow for the first half. It felt like a political thriller set in a fantasy world. And I did like the politics and religions in the book.
But I just felt that the Barbarian character was ridiculously powerful and the final battle scene was just too predictable and hokey. The last part of the story where she lays out her plans for the future was more interesting than anything else that occurred in the whole book, and I rather read about that.
However I did get some enjoyment out of it, so it's a 3 star for me.
