Asa doesn't filter any of her thoughts, which can be either overwhelming or refreshing for readers, but given how taboo sex is in our society, people tend to lean toward the former. This book isn't analytical and it's pretty much a compilation of random events that's occurred in Akira's life as a sex worker (of course mostly about sex-- very descriptive erotic sex) but she attempts to provide a perspective that many people don't consider when thinking of sex work and workers, albeit rather poorly. There's misogyny and racism written in between the lines (ex: her adamant belief that only black men fuck with shoes on or her expectations that all womxn shave for their men) and Akira never addresses where these predisposed notions come from, though one can deduce from her childhood experiences (ex: dependency on men from a young age, being the only Asian girl on scholarship in an affluent prep school, etc.). If you're curious to read this book, just do it but if you don't care or don't know who Asa Akira is, it's not worth your time.
