“Ghostridden” by EJ Russell is a fun gay paranormal story that has a delightful mixture of genres that grabbed me from the first line and kept me anxiously turning the pages. I love the way things slowly escalate from an unforeseen windfall to uncanny occurrences to a murder mystery, all within a small-town framework. There are plenty of fascinating characters, including those with an obsession to contact ghosts, which makes it all the more amusing that both Maz and his cat are the only ones who can see and interact with a ghost.
This is the beginning of a series, so there are a few dangling threads, and I am anxiously awaiting sequels to help resolve some of the overall arcs as well as introduce additional quirky characters. After all, there can’t help but be more fun times in a town called Ghost, inhabited by ghosts, that welcomed a ghostwriter who may just provide services to help a ghost write a book.

“Midnight on the Midway” by Morgan Brice is part of the ‘Carnival of Mysteries’ collection and features FBSI agent Drake Carlson, who is hunting paranormal criminals, but meets a personable veterinarian, Garrett Thompson, who turns out to have his own connection to paranormal beings. Their developing relationship becomes imperiled by the very criminals Drake is pursuing, and they have to decide whether to trust in the advice of the mystical denizens met in the carnival.
This adult gay paranormal romance provides a delicious combination of fantasy and suspense, and it is a great addition to this fun collection of stories. I was drawn in immediately, and I really enjoyed getting a different perspective on the carnival. I have a soft spot for veterinarians, so it was particularly fun to see the twist on having shapeshifters as patients. As always, there are cameos by folks from the other exciting series written by this author, plus plenty of sizzling scenes as the guys learn to trust each other. This is a great addition to this collection of tales, and I look forward to reading many more.

Fun story, likeable hero, unusual talent (taste as predictor), nice combo of danger and romance Subpar heroes series
“A Taste of Danger” by Morgan Brice is part of the ‘Subpar Heroes’ series, and features Scott Dixon, who is abruptly thrust into a world far removed from his normal life reviewing food at various restaurants. His odd tendency to associate tastes with various events leads him to a town where the inhabitants include Gage Merrick, a sexy brewer who has secrets that may destroy any chance of a relationship between them.
This adult gay paranormal romance features two very likeable main characters, one of whom has an unusual talent, and one of whom is a shifter a bit different from the norm. I love that this series highlights those who are just a little out of the ordinary, but discover remarkable uses for their talents. Both main characters are immediately likeable, and this story has a nice combination of danger and romance. I enjoy this author’s style, and I am always delighted by the way she works favorite characters from other series into her stories. There are fun plays on the name of the organization that tries to corral these “sub-par” talented folks, and I look forward to learning about more of these modest-yet-powerful heroes.

“Wolf Bite” by TJ Nichols is Book 8 in the ‘Outcast Pack’ series, and centers around George, who left town and his pack in search of adventure, and Evan, who has been unable to accept his shifter nature. A chance hookup reunites the two who have a painful past history, and they must decide if they can be true to who they are as well as share a future together.
This spicy adult gay paranormal romance obviously builds on the events detailed previously in the series, but it is somewhat possible to follow the story without having read the other books. I suspect I would appreciate the connection more if I was already familiar with those in the outcast pack, but coming into the series cold, I can only say that I was a bit frustrated with Evan, who fought so hard against his nature, and I was puzzled by George’s conflict with his family who sound accepting and welcoming. Although these guys seem determined to keep their interactions carnal, the connection forces them to consider something more, so it was nice to see their relationship mature, and I thought it was great that the concept of dysphoria was touched on, which is a novel concept for me with regard to shifters.

“Silent Partner” by Morgan Brice is part of the Fox Hollow Zodiac series and features Brandon, a wilderness guide, and Riley, a musician, who discover that they are perfect for each other…provided each is willing to share his secrets.
This adult gay paranormal romance features a type of shifter who doesn’t normally get much time in the spotlight, and it was fun to read about him. I love the repartee between Brandon and his moose alter-ego, and I was fascinated by the idea of a psychic nil being peaceful for a telepath to be around. I was a bit disappointed that the suspense and action were resolved a bit quickly and seemed to be secondary to the sex scenes, and I thought the guys got pretty hot and heavy very early in their relationship.
I was happy to see some of the characters from previous stories, and was very happy to be armchair traveling through the vivid descriptions of hiking through snowy weather. Just like his moose, Brandon is a larger-than-life personality, and I was delighted to make his acquaintance. Fox Hollow is a fun place to visit, and I enjoyed seeing other characters from the series.

As the two men try to work out how their lives and relationship will settle out without their pack, they become embroiled with several lone wolves who need an alpha’s mediation, which complicates everything, especially their future.
This adult gay paranormal romance is set in the same world as the delicious ‘Hidden Wolves’ series, and reminds me of why I enjoy this author’s works so much. The artful combination of creating vivid characters and realistic locations always draw me in immediately. I enjoyed getting to know the various wolf shifters in this small town even as I sympathized with the reason for David having to leave his original pack and marveled at Rob’s tenacity and loyalty. I don’t quite have the same intense connection that I formed with Aaron and his pack, but I am definitely curious about the characters introduced in this story, especially the enigmatic and mysterious Julian, so I hope there will be more stories at some point.

Unfortunately, the threat from the Hellfires still exists, and for Gestalt to eliminate the threat to his home dimension, may require the ultimate sacrifice from the other two males in his life.
This adult gay paranormal story is compelling, but it has very dark elements that were a bit difficult to read, so those with triggers should use caution. It was fascinating to watch Gestalt learn how to deal with Micah and Dominic, and his very alien way of looking at the bonds and interactions they have gives the story an interesting twist. The delicate dance as they explore whether they are comfortable with a sexual triad is sharply contrasted with the horrific and sadistic environment that two of them have experienced, and the sacrifice that each makes is inspiring. The author has created a fascinating world, and I hope there are more adventures to come.

“Any Price” by Hazel Domain centers around Dominic, a creacon, and Micah, an indentured whose contract Donovan gets for a surprisingly low price. The more the men learn about each other, the more unlikely their pairing seems, but they discover that each has something the other lacks, and they must find the courage to be truthful and honest about their needs.
This dark urban fantasy is the first book in the ‘Powers That Be’ series that introduces a world that features dark and fearful creatures, the most dangerous of whom are sadistic humans. Those who have triggers should be warned that Micah has a very painful and tortuous history, plus there is a bit of violence and gore. The action is compelling and the storyline drew me in immediately. I connected to both characters quickly and understood Micah’s inability to figure out what was expected of him after his horrendous conditioning while I sympathized with Dominic’s confusion and conflict as he learns more and more about the being he’s hopeful to have as a backup yet is attracted to. The story ends with a new twist, and I was very glad that the sequel is soon available since I was fascinated by this world. I think this is an author whose works I will be on the lookout for, and I hope there are many more stories in this series.

What a fun story! I was captivated from the first page and anxious to see what was going to happen. This is such a great concept, and although I haven't read the other stories in the series, I had no problem connecting to these characters and understanding the overall premise. I love the self-deprecating humor, the quirky elements like the paperwork required by SPAM, and the suspenseful adventures. I'm curious about the other stories, but I think it's going to be hard for them to top this. Now to read it again to savor all of the details I undoubtedly skimmed over.

“Principles” by E.J. Russell is the second novella in the ‘Sun, Stars, and Moon’ series that features Torin and Zal, an unlikely pair who are trying to follow the rules of their society but discover that Torin’s escape from his unfeeling masters may not be as definitive as he would like, and his and Zal’s future together might just be doomed.
This gay science fiction/fantasy romance continues to explore the relationship between an asexual character who has made a supreme sacrifice and the non-binary being he has formed a mutual attachment with. The artful blend of science fiction and fantasy explores the concept of finding ways to explain the apparently inexplicable without the tools to do so.
I formed a connection to these characters in “Partnership,” the previous story in the series (which I think is required reading in order to understand the framework of this world), and I love watching their relationship deepen even as I wince at the trials they’re dealing with. I enjoy the creative world-building this author is expert at, and I like the twists and turns that keep the action exciting. This is another fun, entertaining quick read featuring memorable characters. As with the previous story, this one ends with plenty of dangling threads, so I definitely hope the sequel will be coming soon.

Such a fun story that blends Greek mythological figures with paranormal beings. Tiptoeing around the secrecy pact that forbids informing humans of all of those "other" beings among them leads to a wonderful challenge of getting things done without spilling the beans, especially when random Greek gods keep popping up. I adore the trio of puppies (Sir, Bear, and Oz) that are the current incarnation of Cerberus, and the various cameos by beloved characters in the various series penned by this talented author. A great addition to the collection. I can't wait to find out what new adventures are percolating!

I love the way this author seamlessly combines traditional mythic elements with contemporary situations to create a story that is amazingly believeable and wonderfully entertaining. Poor Nevan is unused to dealing with humans in a congenial manner, and the geas laid upon him complicates things even further. I immediately connected with these two very different men, and I love the mistaken identity trope, which makes the contrast between Seb’s real vocation and the one Nevan suspects him of having even more sharp. The backdrop of the carnival and its attendant mayhem adds to the zany aspects of the story, then adding in a couple of my favorite characters plus cameos by others from the various series elevated the fun even more.
I always enjoy finding out what new twists arise from the remarkable imagination of this author, and I’m always assured of a delightful story when I pick up a new addition to her various paranormal series. This was no exception, and I can’t wait to find out what new characters and adventures are still to come.

“Point Blank” by Morgan Brice is Book 6 in the ‘Badlands’ series and follows Vic and Simon as they try to solve a locked-room murder mystery with a twist, plus survive to enjoy their upcoming nuptials.
This adult gay paranormal romance continues the adventures of homicide detective Vic and his psychic partner/fiance Simon as they race to solve a mysterious murder that seems to have ties throughout the small beach community. Add pre-wedding complications and jitters, and the stress threatens to derail their plans.
I have been reading the books in this fascinating series since the beginning, and it’s so wonderful to see how their relationship has grown, and touching to watch them work through the complications of family interactions while they approach their special day.
The chilling implications of the cold cases that are uncovered are balanced by the camaraderie that has developed between the police department and Simon and his paranormal contacts. It was fun to follow the clues as they are revealed, especially with the twists of having informants who are non-corporeal and Simon having his ancestor there to provide assistance (and snarky comments). I think this story might be enjoyed by someone new to the series, but it definitely will be more appreciated by those who have read the other stories in this series. There are cameos by characters who star in their own series, such as Badlands or Treasure Trail, and allusions to the fun anthologies set at Caynham Castle, so those new to this author will have plenty of new stories to savor.
This is an excellent addition to the series, combining thrills and chills and sentiment, and I look forward to reading about more adventures experienced by this charismatic pair.

“Fae-ted Mates” by Morgan Brice follows honeymooning Grady and Dawson King, whose delightful vacation is temporarily interrupted by Dawson’s commitment to reaffirm his family’s accords with the fae…who aren’t all so sanguine about the arrangement.
This adult gay paranormal romance novella artfully combines romance, danger, and fantastical creatures in an exciting tale. The devotion between the main characters, the glimpse of fae politics and machinations, and the practical importance of maintaining both major and minor agreements is underscored. I love the alluring glimpses of Caynham Castle and its inhabitants (both visible and invisible), and I was caught up in the struggle the pair inadvertently became victims of. I learned about a new creature and a different way of affirming their connection, and both snickered at the reminder that one should heed the advice of those who come before us and sighed at the romance inherent in the story. Another great addition to a lovely collection of stories.
Each of these stories celebrates romance, and they all were entertaining, with vivid characters and descriptions, and I’ll be looking for other titles by the authors who were new to me.

“Light My Way Home” by Morgan Brice is a novella in the ‘Treasure Trail’ series and features Monty, a lighthouse keeper who has the ability to see ghosts. This is an unexpected benefit for Jon Richards, a ghost who is shocked that someone can actually communicate with him. The connection between the men deepens, and Monty becomes invested in finding justice for Jon, and searches for a way for them to be together.
This adult gay paranormal romance story is engaging and fun to read, even if you’re new to the series. Even though this is a fairly short tale, each man became distinct in my mind, and I was anxious to see how they could find a way to be together. I was impressed by the excitement generated by Jon’s selfless actions, and loved the twists and turns of the story. I enjoy this author’s interconnected series, and I am always delighted to find out there’s a new story to savor, and this one whetted my appetite for even more adventures.

“Again” by Morgan Brice is the second book in the ‘Fox Hollow Zodiac’ series, and picks up where “Huntsman” ends, as the former victims start to recover from their ordeal. Drew Lowe is supporting Noah Wilson, and despite their animal shapes being potential enemies, they decide to explore the connection they feel almost from the start. When Noah is caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, danger mounts, and Drew discovers the glimpses of couples he’s been dreaming of have more significance than he ever dreamed of, they must find a way to break a terrible cycle if they’re going to survive to explore their attraction.
This exciting adult gay paranormal romance continues to give more insight into the inhabitants of Fox Hollow and the challenges they face. I was immediately drawn into the story and invested in the journey for these guys. I love that the characters from the previous story are also important in this one even as we get to know Drew and his wolf and Noah and his lynx. The tension mounts even as the mystical elements complicate matters, and I couldn’t help but root for the guys to find their happy ever after, despite them being from different countries and having different species as their alter egos. This is a fun addition to the series, and I hope there will be even more stories about the residents of Fox Hollow.
