I second what my friend said in her review: This is one of the sweetest cat manga series I've ever read!
Goodness, there was SO much heart in this volume that it left me sniffling and teary-eyed by the end!
I thought I would just be getting more cute human brother and cat sister chapters, but I got so much more than just that! There was tons of heart packed into this final volume that it felt unexpectedly deeper than the previous volumes, making me want to go back and reread the series from the start just so I could experience all the joy, love, and laughter these pages brought all over again.
Out of all the cat manga I've read, which isn't many truthfully, this is one of my favorites and will be staying in my collection for a long time! Definitely one of the best manga "surprise buys" I've ever done!

"All those lies that I've been hearing all along perhaps they were people's wishes."
I am not sure why, but I didn't love this volume as much as I have"All those lies that I've been hearing all along perhaps they were people's wishes."
I am not sure why, but I didn't love this volume as much as I have previous volumes. I even went back and skim-read some of volume seven and still super enjoyed it (and I know I have deeply enjoyed previous volumes, so not worried there!), so I'm a little stumped on why I didn't adore this one?
I LOVED seeing Kanako and Soma in different clothes than usual! I love seeing them do all the detective work and was having a blast up until Atsushi came on page. Now when I think about it, I really felt Kanako's rage because I was not happy with how Atsushi talked or treated Soma. Yeah, things might have been hard for him growing up, but I don't think he should treat Soma the way he does. Atsushi's wife is SO kind and deeply deeply gracious, and I think because Atsushi DOES see her as more than just "breeding" and good "pedigree" it was supposed to make my anger towards him not as strong, which may have worked because…
I liked the second half a lot more and didn't feel as upset! LOL!
I think the "last" mystery was an interesting one because it really hit Kanako concerning this new "client," who really wasn't a client originally but sort of became one. LOL! Kanako has continually said how she is content to stay Soma's assistant, but that "truth" is challenged by a question of what she would do if Soma gets married. Would she still be content? Would she still have a place?
And so the tides turn in regards to this story because I think the next volume will see some romance, which leaves me feeling a little bit of mixed feelings. It's weird to admit that because at the beginning I SO desperately wanted to see a romance unfold, but I became super happy and content just seeing these two be a detective duo as the story progressed. LOL! I don't know how I'll feel if something really DOES happen, but I can't say I'm against it either because I too want Kanako to forever stay by Soma's side.
This might not have been a favorite volume for me, but I do really want to see how this story unfolds because it has been absolutely lovely!...more

Yes, it had danger, but Allen being the gentleman he is makes sure no harm comes to Charlotte in any way, especially on their date! The antics he goes through to make sure she is oblivious to everything makes me laugh, but also makes me giddy because of the amount of times he gushed about her internally and outwardly! There were quite a few panels I wanted to take pictures of just because he was so adorable! (Him AND Charlotte together really because those were some of my favorite parts of seeing absolute joy on their faces!)
And not just him, but Charlotte too! Oh my goodness, the way she is being brave and moving forward in courage had me almost getting teary-eyed! I am SO proud of her and so very happy how Allen has changed her life for the better! When he pointed out how she is doing "naughty" things now for fun rather than counting grains on the floorboard as "fun," I thought the tears would flow and not stop for a little bit! LOL! It really showed how far she has come, and honestly can't wait to see how she will continue to grow!
The parts with Lu and Gosetsu were pretty funny! I love how friendly they are with Allen in that they will do anything for their sweet Charlotte! LOL! Plus the transformations were fun!
Another exceptionally well-done volume that has lots of cute romance, fun shenanigans, a little bit of action, but most importantly, a whole lot of heart as we watch one young woman grow and transform with the support of her boyfriend and friends. <3...more

I didn't feel it was quite as gripp"Take the plunge, enjoy the ride and you'll make it through that vast and rocky ocean."
Another very strong volume!
I didn't feel it was quite as gripping as the first volume for some reason, but once Aia goes to Mirror, I felt invested and hooked! I think there is something powerful about seeing your dream awaken as well as seeing people who take a similar dream seriously, and as a result, be able to grow because of those said people around you. It's not like Aia is not skilled at makeup, but now that he has a new freedom where he KNOWS he can pursue his dream, it's like pedal to the metal of learning everything he can and soaking it in. I find that very inspiring to read about and thought it incredible how he really drew out a certain character's personality when doing their makeup!
I did miss seeing Jun in this volume! I mean we saw a little bit of her, but I don't feel she was the focus nearly the same way as volume one. However, the ending leads me to believe we will be seeing a lot more of her again, which I'm looking forward to because she is such a fun character!
I was surprised by how fast I read this volume, and know it's because once I was caught up in Aia's excitement and drive to learn, I HAD to keep reading and see how this volume would unfold!...more
There was not a moment that I wasn't deeply invested in where I wasn't leaning forward to read more! I This volume was perfection in every single way!
There was not a moment that I wasn't deeply invested in where I wasn't leaning forward to read more! I honestly don't even know what to highlight in saying what was my favorite part because I loved it all!
Wait, there was ONE moment and that was near the beginning! BUT! It was only because certain people were injured but the way a certain someone expressed their feelings right after…IT WAS SO GOOD!! An incredible and emotional buildup that left me smiling, almost crying, and overwhelmingly happy! Goodness, IT. WAS. GOOD!
Everything after that just seemed to get even better and didn't even know that was possible! The way that Noah fully trusts Raeliana, how affectionate they were, and OH MY GOODNESS, the way Raeliana almost got taken out!!!!
We have FINALLY met Beatrice!! Well, Raeliana has and it was not the reunion I expected at all! That was SUPER intense and I was so relieved that Raeliana was okay! STAY AWAY FROM OUR BEST GIRL, BEATRICE!!!
There was lots and lots of humor in this volume, which I think is sort of usual for this series, but it felt especially funny this time around! I'm hoping that it wasn't me just riding on some emotional high because of all the good things happening because while there were many fun moments, the ending definitely made it known that there are hardships ahead.
Believing these two will have the happiest of endings though because they are so strong together! Definitely one of my favorite reads this month for sure!...more

Updated Review: Just as amazing as the first time I read it! The openness Kurumi and Eiji have is so so so good, even though I was heartbroken for a short time due to a misunderstanding! Eager and ready to see how this series ends because this has been an incredible sequel!
Original Review 7/15/24: This was superb!!
And it's going to be a longggg wait for the third volume with how this one ended!
I don't know why I would feel shocked at how good this was (maybe because I hold Kimi ni Todoke in such high regard?), but here I am debating if this has been my favorite read of the month! If not the favorite, it is at least second because the depth of Ume and how she is being so honest with how she views herself was incredible. It broke my heart, but it also had me reading open-mouthed in surprise because I never imagined this is who THE Kurumi really is.
And Eiji! He's AMAZING! The way he loves and cares for her and is so mindful of his actions speaks A LOT about his character! I really really like him as a male hero and honestly think he is perfect for Ume! I quite liked how near the end HE was the one testing Ume because Ume often says how she's testing him, but she wasn't the only one.
Also THE ANGST!! I didn't think it could be real for a short series, but I'm like MY HEART NEEDS RECONCILIATION PLEASE!!
This has been such an excellent spinoff series and so thankful we got it in English! My heart and hands are desperate for the next volume!!...more

I love Uka so much! Her stubbornness in this volume had me close to tears SO many times in the first quarter! The way her friends rallied behind her, the way she protected what was important to her, and most importantly, the way she was so vulnerable, real, and transparent with her parents for the first time. She is amazing!
There was a subtle shift in this volume as it focuses on Kai and UKA entering into HIS world. She's been making steps to this moment and was SO very proud of her for choosing to get to know him and learn about who he is. Even when she knew that he didn't really want her to see things about his life, she still moved forward because she wanted to be there for him. (I did have to laugh because she was nicknamed Kai's stalker by his "friends" but baby girl was and is NOT a stalker. LOL!)
It was interesting seeing Kai more closed off this volume and think another reviewer said it best that it scares him to have someone enter into his heart. With how much he has helped Uka, how could she not want to do the same for him and simply be there for him?
Them questioning what they are to one another has me excited because change is coming, and I think it will only lead to good change!
Another very well done volume and still continues to be one of my faves!!...more

While I "Even if you say that facing the facts would mean that I'm absolutely awful."
This series is a hot mess, and it only continues to be more so!
While I have for a very large part of this series found nothing redeemable about the characters or their actions (Hiromitsu is the only exception I think because the poor guy needs to just free himself from all this drama LOL), I am VERY impressed by how Hatori has noticed how horrible her actions are. She is not a "good and proper" heroine because she admits that she was more or less using Hiromitsu in the sense that, yeah, she loves him, but she wants Rita as backup and can't let him go. That's A LOT to admit to yourself and even to your boyfriend who has put up with all your selfish antics before now! So in that sense, I really like how Hatori is seeing her actions for what they are!
However, if I even remotely thought that things would be looking up because Hatori actually seems serious about staying away from Rita, Hatori's friends have other ideas. LOL! And because of their influence, Rita himself is now making a new plan to get involved and I think he's going to "fight" for Hatori moving forward.
Again, I feel bad for Hiromitsu because despite that he was a playboy, he's an incredible boyfriend to Hatori! But everyone is more or less conspiring against him and his relationship with Hatori and I think that as much as Hatori may say she wants to be with him, I really think Rita is going to win Hatori's heart in the end. I admire the deep effort Hatori put in at the end of this volume, but her emotions give her away every single time, and that has proven true throughout the entire series.
All I can think is that this series is only about to get messier, and I'm here for it! LOL! ...more

This volume kicked off BEFORE our leads got married (which I didn't realize initially) and super enjoyed getting more glimpses into their dating life! While it's not unusual to see two leads dating and seeing their dates, I felt this volume was wonderful purely because how much it was fleshed out of their everyday life. It wasn't simply just dates, but just being together, which is why I think I enjoyed this volume so much especially. I loved seeing the brief moments where jealousy hit our leads' hearts, finding hobbies together, and just how much thought and care went into moving in together. Plus, we met Dad!! YAY!
Someone who read this before me mentioned that the art had a "leveling up," and I totally agree! I already deeply loved the art before now, but everything now feels cleaner and smoother with more whimsy. Our leads looked even more wonderful!
Honestly, this was the perfect follow-up in this series and I'm SO excited to know there will be a volume four!! SQUEALS! That ending was quite the cliffhanger! LOL!
If you've read and loved the first two volumes, do yourself a favor and read this ASAP! It's amazing and I would highly recommend it! Can't wait to reread it all over again!...more

Usually, I mention when writing reviews of this series that I forgot to breathe, but this time the overwhelming amount of times I had goosebumps whileUsually, I mention when writing reviews of this series that I forgot to breathe, but this time the overwhelming amount of times I had goosebumps while reading. Fear was gripping my heart because just when it seemed the Defense Force would be victorious, the creator had the situation looking even MORE dangerous and deeply deeply concerning.
That is exactly what happened here.
I LOVED the beginning and seeing Hoshina work with Kaiju. No 10 (the weapon) was EVERYTHING! It was a very fun battle to see them work together and then successfully conquer. Though Kaiju No. 10 being like "Let's go fight the officers!" made me laugh because why in the world would Hoshina do that?! LOL!
Things soon went south though, despite how AWESOME Mina looked, but let's stop there for a second. Can we just appreciate how fantastically written the ladies are in this series? It was practically said that Mina is one of the best Defense Force members in the WORLD, while Kikoru will one day be the core of the future Defense Force. I deeply love the care and attention he has put into making these ladies shine!
Speaking of Kikoru, I felt the battle she was in had me trapped in time. I had goosebumps almost the entire time and not even sure I can describe what I was feeling because she is THE Kikoru. And yet she is still growing, and just in this battle alone! Every panel had me gripping my manga, turning pages as fast as I could because what a satisfying unfolding of her story this volume was!
Granted, the ending though. The way these new kaiju are fighting has me afraid and literally left me asking where Kafaka was because this is the time we need the hero. (Not only that but tearing up at how cruel the kaiju is that Kikoru is fighting.)
I don't know what's going to happen next, but I will be seated! This series has surprised me with every single volume, with this one taking the cake! So very good!...more
As a fan of the game, I honestly think this manga made the game come to life in a very satisfying way! Seeing Riddle in overblotFantastic conclusion!!
As a fan of the game, I honestly think this manga made the game come to life in a very satisfying way! Seeing Riddle in overblot form and just how powerful (and scary!) he was was incredible! I feel I knew that before reading this series, but the experience of seeing the story unfold panel-by-panel was something else. Some of the action was super detailed and I wasn't sure exactly what was happening, but I super appreciated seeing everything drawn out nonetheless!
One thing that I don't think I realized how powerful it was in the game, but then reading it in the manga is seeing the first-years be the ones willing to "save" Riddle, despite that Trey was a childhood best friend and Cater being another friend. Ace and Deuce might have been super angry over Riddle's actions, but they were still determined to help him.
Hands down my favorite part was the second half because I LOVED seeing Riddle, Trey, and Chenya as kids! THEY WERE SO CUTE!! Especially Chenya! He was adorable and had to take a photo of the page and send it to friends because his cuteness HAD to be shared!
Granted, that cuteness came at a cost and my heart broke for Riddle all over again, but goodness the aftermath of everything was extremely touching! I confess I even got a little teary-eyed about it. LOL! Seeing Riddle look so soft was something I was not prepared for when starting this final volume.
I would definitely encourage any fans of the game to pick up and read the manga! It really heightens and brings the story to life in such an exciting way that I super enjoyed every moment of reading this series! I agree with the artist that it seemed like the series went by in a flash!

I teared up at multiple points because I was so very excited to be back in this story world! Everyone looked so wonderful and felt my heart was exploding with happiness, but then the end of the first chapter came and I felt some sadness!
It wasn't bad mind you! Just goes to show how everyone is growing and is really coming into their roles and continues to be their amazing selves. *Cue getting teary-eyed*
I LOVED that Zen and Shirayuki had some special moments! Goodness, I've missed them being together SO much and found this volume very much delivered! So beautiful and precious and makes me swoon all at the same time!
That bonus chapter was EVERYTHING!!! Because I was SO bummed how the actual volume itself was short but found myself squealing once again at the end!! EEEEPPP!

Once again I am amazed at Rishe! She is working through her own fears as well as learning about her desires and abilities, all the while trying to encourage Arnold and show him he is not the person people think he is. Plus, she is encouraging other people along the way too! It's like her original dream to sit around and do nothing is going up in smoke more and more! LOL!
Though I will say that while I knew Arnold was always super intimidating, this volume really showed how intimidating he can be. When he was talking to Prince Kyle, I was shocked at how Rishe didn't shy away from his cold words and that Prince Kyle didn't shy away from his overwhelming aura.
Granted, I know that Arnold has a kind heart because I think as Rishe pointed out, he has always respected her. He never once scolded her for the crazy things she does, but instead supports and encourages her in his own way. I might have been a little nervous about that one thing he said on the balcony, but I do agree with Rishe that it seemed like a plea for help.
That leads me to say that I was excited about how this volume ended and how the next volume will unfold! Plus, THEODORE!! I love it when he and Rishe are in cahoots together because it's always to help Arnold in some way even if it sounds like they aren't. LOL!
A few random things I also want to mention: - I LOVED the scene at the cadet training! - The alchemist was…something else. - The balcony scene was lovely even if it had touches of sadness too.
Overall, another very good volume that leaves me excited for the next one!

Goodness, the creator really put Fumi through the wringer in this one because my heart felt completely devastated for her! Fumi is so incredibly strong and I admire her more than I ever have before. The things she went through in that battle were horrible, scarring, angering, and deeply saddening. I can't even remotely begin to imagine being in her shoes!
I'm thankful Kyutaro is there and that he cares for her. Granted, the entire Genbu clan honestly! But Kyutaro especially I think she is going to need deep comfort from.
And oh my goodness, the strength HE has shown! That battle was intense and I admire how he stood his ground!
Ah, Tsubasa. I once again have fallen for another "bad guy" in this series! LOL! Not in a romantic way or anything, but I LOVE Ataru and how he has grown in the Genbu clan, and feel this could happen for Tsubasa too! I'm especially looking forward to seeing how he will grow as a character because he knows things and I think he is a lot more caring than he shows!
While I felt very gutted reading this volume, it was extremely good! My heart needs some time to recover, but I'm also desperately wanting the next volume ASAP!...more

Oh, how I feel the same way when reading this story, Fuyutsuki!
Another volume where I was squealing and kicking my feet, but also the way I was flying through pages because of that business trip chapter!! EEEEEPPP!!
This series really is a slow burn but this volume gave LOTS when it came to the romance! I'm VERY excited to know that Fuyutsuki really is starting to view Himuro differently, but poor Himuro!
There was lots of confused and shocked hail and felt bad for him because you DO have it right, Himuro! I think you're just going to have to give Fuyutsuki some time so she can realize what her feelings actually are. <3
I really liked the sports festival as well as the bonus chapter! I never tire of seeing Himuro's little snowmen, and deeply enjoyed seeing some old faces again. (Fuyutsuki's best friend's reaction was REAL! 100% me too! LOL!)

I felt a little hesitant that I would like this, but I can't tell you why I felt that way. At the least, I felt I would only read volume one and call it a day, but this first volume was so delightful that I WILL be getting more volumes as they release!
Goodness, I loved everything about this story! It has slice-of-life vibes, but just when the story may seem to fall into the "mundane" of everyday life (which I personally don't mind if it had), a new character pops up and brings more excitement to Aria's life! It really felt like just when you might even feel you could get bored, something new happens, making you sucked back into the story in a new way. I loved it so much!
The art style is deeply charming and LOVED many of the expressions Aria makes as well as the white wolf! Seeing them together made me laugh more than once and would often say something involving how cute they were together. The ending was especially endearing and I'm very excited to see what will happen next!
Plus, I can't wait to meet all the characters we met briefly! I will also mention that I LOVE how we met characters who were not all the same age! That's about all I can say about it without giving away spoilers, but I deeply appreciated it!
Though I'm not sure my stomach appreciated all the food because that last chapter definitely had ALLLL of the yummy food and made me hungry! LOL! Granted, *I* loved it and thought it was such a pleasant surprise to even have mini recipes after some of the chapters! How fun was that!
Truly, this is easily one of my favorite reads this month simply because of how wonderful this story was! I'm not sure what I was expecting when starting it, but it wasn't this overwhelming cuteness and fun that's for sure!
Highly recommend it if you're looking for a wholesome story with a witch, great art, and maybe something with a little bit of Ghibli vibes! Volume two definitely can't be released fast enough!...more
