AHH, I'm so happy this cover art is finally attached to a real book. It's probably still my favorite cover art to-date.
Anyway, this project has been in the works for quite some time, so I'm thrilled to finally be releasing it into the wild. Project 74, the first bonus prequel story in the Red Rain series, officially has an anniversary edition. It has been completely rewritten in 1st person and significantly expanded to bring together threads from throughout the series to reveal what really happened in Wing 74.
If you read the original, you don't have to read this one. Obviously, I didn't want to pull a "Back to the Future" and mess up my own canon, so the "net effect" of this story is the same. But I did change some details and spent a lot more time exploring Ephesus's heart and motivations. If you love Ephesus as a character, you'll enjoy this.
This book will be available free to all my newsletter subscribers, and you'll also be able to download it for free off my Patreon after release (you don't have to be a paying member). I did this project for fun to give Ephesus a second chance in the spotlight, so I want all my readers to have free access to it....more

No wonder Book #9 is so long... //cough// **
My betas tell me this cliffhanger ending is worse than the last one. I didn't think it was physically possible to top [redacted] being [redacted] at the end of #7, but the experts have spoken. *sips coffee*
Sarcasm aside... This installment marks a milestone for me. Not only are there now officially half a million words in this series (!!), but Book #8 marks a turning point for me spiritually. I don't want to spoil the plot, so I'll keep it vague. Just know that what Phil does in Ch.20 is a process I've been going through myself for the last six months. And, well... I think you can tell.

This is still the favorite child.
People always ask me what my favorite book of the series is, and I didn't used to have an answer for them... But now that it's been almost a year since I finished writing it, I realize this is my favorite book so far. #6 is a close second, but this one is still the favorite child....more
All right, listen. I don't usually review my own books, but CAN WE TALK ABOUT SYBIL'S NARRATII am currently proofing my first audiobook.
...wait, WHAT?
All right, listen. I don't usually review my own books, but CAN WE TALK ABOUT SYBIL'S NARRATION PLEASE?!
This is my first professionally produced audiobook, and I have to say, the process has been a dream. The team at Cats Meow made everything incredibly easy and hands-off, and Sybil's reading is divine. She's fabulous at reading "in between the lines" and inferring the emotion of a sentence; I swear she reads some passages better than I originally wrote them. There's so much nuance and depth to her delivery, and it was technically flawless. I couldn't ask for a better voice for Phil.
The audiobook is in the process of publishing right now and will be available on all the major retailers within 2-4 weeks. (But it may or may not be available for sale directly on my website now...) I can't waaait....more

The Circle series is her favorite, and she knows I don't have time to read the full novels right now... So this is my gateway drug. ;) I have to say, it's working...
This adaptation was well-done, and the plot is clear and easy to understand. The world-building is a bit thin due to the nature of graphic novels. My friend had given me a rundown of the series before I started, so I was able to fill in the blanks, but I am not sure how enjoyable they'd be for someone who doesn't know anything about the books....more

Ahem, sorry. Picked up this book because the author is a friend of mine on Twitter (100% recommend following--great content and very supportive), and I'm incredibly invested in the Christian sci-fi genre (for obvious reasons). I was not disappointed. This is an excellent example of what's possible in the genre, and I'm looking forward to reading the future installments.
My favorite aspects of West's writing are: --The worldbuilding. This is a fully-realized universe, with several cultures, competing religions, and many centuries of history. --The characters, mainly some of the guys who come in later... (What?) --The science. West's fictional science is consistent, and he remembers the real science where applicable (i.e., air pressure in a cavern). You can tell he has done his research. --The plot. There are a lot of juicy layers that build successively on each other, and I found myself immensely enjoying all of it. --The setting. As mentioned, West's worldbuilding is very complete. The plot ventures through several unique settings--from Mallory's home life, to a research base, to a forgotten underground city--and all of them were fascinating and immersive. --The religion. As mentioned, West's world is complete with several competing religions. Not only does this add flavor to the setting and tension to the plot, but it also serves as a beautiful canvas for exploring Christian issues in an organic, entertaining way. Speaking as a Christian writer, this can be very hard to pull off, and West succeeds.
I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes hard sci-fi, space opera, and epic fantasy. I'm very excited to see where the plot goes in the upcoming books. ...more
