I had read a few pages like two weeks ago, when I finished the book I was comitted to finishing which was yesterday I immediately picked this one up and read until 2.45 am. When I woke up I read some more and I have finally finished it so you could say I finished it in one day.
It was just so fun to compare the book from the movie. Let me tell you a lot of details were different from the movie. It was just so cozy and hilarious. I just dont know how to describe it into words but, I would totally, absolutely reccomend it. Now its time for me to rewatch the movie.....more

Since I was a young child I was obsessed with an anime called Detective Conan who looked up to Sherlock and got inspired by him. That made me really invested in reading the books. This summer break I started rewatching the anime and came to a conclusion to finally read the series.
The book is divided in two parts, part I which is A study in Scarlet. Sherlock solves a very hard case where there is no traces of injury on the victims body and there were no witnesses. The victim was found in an empty abandoned house so it was hard to solve.
Part II talked about the mormons which is a group thats kind of like a cult. And that part does have part in the case.
You get to see how the friendship develops between Sherlock and Dr Watson and find out what’s behind this mystery. I found the mormon topic quite interesting since I have never heard of that group. I would say that I liked the book. Allthough there was a part that was really racist towards arabs, it made me really uncomfortable to read the books. However since the books is in the 1800s and written in that time you just got to accept it somehow....more

That is because if he had not posted the full audiobook on his channel with his voiceover and his ability to make the characters have diffrent voices i would not have been able to endure the book until the very end. I tried reading it myself and it lost intrest quickly because the text was honestly too small and the chapters were so very long. I had been eyeing this book for quite a while at my public library and when i discovered that it had no explicit scenes I took it home with me.
I found myself disliking how the men of the book litteraly worshipped the women (Lucy and Mina) and literally falling for their friends finace?? Also Lucy was so sexualized. When she was being described they always talked about her unnatrual beauty, her appearence, her body, never her charactersistics, never her habits. It bothered me a lot.
The book was longer than I would have liked it, in fact it could have been atleast 100 pages shorter. I suggest that is when Jonathan was at Draculas chapter because that was the most boring part, not the whole experince was boring though. What would have made it better is if we got any chapter from Draculas point of view. Also if it was written in first perspective instead of retelling their days in letters or journals it would have been much more intresting.
The time when Jonathan climbed the wall, when Draculas brides visited him and the time he went down to that basement like room and found Dracula laying in his box. Those times hade me so invested in the story. Everything got even more intresting when we got to meet Lucy and Mina. At a few times I got confused because some details were hard to grasp but I did infact not care beause I still understood the rest of the plot and ate it up.
I listened to the audiobook while doing my essay that was due last week about the renaissance period. It hepled me focus a lot actually and the drawings i did for the paper turned out so good because I was so focused.
I would as always like to thank pintrest because it made me imagine Mina as Winona Ryder with a wine red gown and it made the book way better.
Im not going to write much more because I forgot everything I was going to write in this. Overall I would say that I liked it but would only reccomend it to someone if they liked victorian dark books and they are an avid reader....more
