Coming to terms with the fact that Katee Robert is probably not for me. It was quick, to the point, and steamy, for sure. I did thoroughly enjoy the spanking. It does need an editor.
And my good friend T!ff pointed this out to me, "Penance," he growled without taking his tongue back into his mouth" *Penath ...more

It was a Hallmark-y, Sweet, Christmas rom-com à la "While You Were Sleeping". (No Spice! Which isn't a bad thing, but I KNOW PEOPLE ASK "but is it spicy?")
Katie is asked to pose as her favorite diner's girlfriend for Christmas dinner, but basically when he walks out the door, he is hit by a van. Well Katie heroically pushes him so he doesn't become holiday-roadkill, no he's in a coma and Katie is stuck with his family swinging in and pulling her into all the Christmas festivities, while Juan is in a coma. But not everyone in the family is feeling quite so holly jolly about Katie joining in. ENTER THE BROTHER, ensure the shenanigans.
I did feel like the author could have let some of the story/information unfold in a more organic or natural way. I did feel like I was being told things, rather than experiencing them.
I had a good time with The Holiday Mix-Up and I hope others do too!

Morgan did it again. Once again a story about a woman going through some very real things in her life, absolutely refusing help from the well-meaning Morgan did it again. Once again a story about a woman going through some very real things in her life, absolutely refusing help from the well-meaning people around her, till a brick of a man bulldozes past all of her boundaries and forces her to take help and they live happily ever after.
Too many women have similar experiences to Shea. I do think she is a great mom & works so hard to do right by her kids, but I don’t understand how she is written in a way that puts her at odds with herself.
Nick was okay, I mean he is the typical Morgan Elizabeth leading man, stable job, good looking, built like a house, expert in bed & the female orgasm, and completely disregards the lady’s spoken boundaries.
Control. Every ME book has a buzzword, this one was control. It’s in the book 70 times. Shea had all this control over everything according to Nick. He said he would wait for days, weeks, months, YEARS for her to be ready for them as a relationship. He says it like every other page, but then immediately following “until then I’m going to insert myself into your life and take care of you”. SIR! And the times that she told him he didn’t have to do it, of course it’s “I wanted to”. YOU COULD WANT TO ACTUALLY TAKE IT SLOW!!!!! The woman just came out of a decade long relationship with an extremely manipulative narcissist and despite the kindness of Nick’s gestures, they came off manipulative in my eyes.
I wish their relationship could have been a bit slower. I get that there’s only so much time between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I think Thanksgiving this year to Christmas the following could have been a really lovely opportunity to watch Shea come into her own & grow alongside her relationship with Nick, rather than Nick swooping in and solving all the problems by having her move in. But I gotta remember, IT’S Christmas!!! ...more
