I think my experience was not as lovely as I expected but it was a quite fun read for me considering all of my readings generally are fantasy or epic fantasies.
I like the idea of this book and a lady from a historical setting being a thief is very interesting. But in my opinion, the stakes could have been a little higher to keep the story more interesting. The writing was good and accessible for historical fiction and the romance part was fun. The anxiety between the two main characters is interesting and not too spicy if you would like to know about the level of spice in your romances.
I don't think you are new to the genre this is the greatest thing to read first but it would be fun if you are a fan. however, what I understood was that I love the setting, atmosphere and writing but romances would always be my least favourite thing in a book. So I'm considering this as a good pallet cleanser for me and 3 starts read overall....more
I got an audio ARC of this book and I got into about 10% of it which I think is a pretty decent amount for a YA book to get my attention. UnfortunatelI got an audio ARC of this book and I got into about 10% of it which I think is a pretty decent amount for a YA book to get my attention. Unfortunately, I really didn't vibe with the story which felt like the writing style of the author didn't fascinate enough for me to care for these characters or the story.
The promise of the book was what grabbed my attention initially which was based on the African culture theme. I think it has a pretty mundane magic system that I could not believe even for the story's sake. But the audiobook production was excellent with amazing sound effects, background music and everything. This is why I am giving this 2 stars where I feel like it is not reasonable to rate the book. But I really wanted to love the story and explore the culture specially that ended up a disappointment. ...more

So can write wintery atmosphere in a good creepy way that it almost felt like I was there with this travel group all along.
This book was about some strangers who travel together to the wilderness to enjoy their vacation. And then one by one from their group people ended up dieing brutally by the hands of mysterious killer. So it it up to survivors to find out who amongst them is the killer & why.
Story is so gripping & kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time while I reading/ listening to this book. Strangers who behave suspicious around each other, unraveling their stories step-by-step, creepy winter storms, methodical killings were so dark but interesting to read. This was a very fast phase book & I was so captivated by the writing style of the author had described events of a few days into this book.
The intrigue level throughout the book was high, but I didn't like the way it was executed so 3⭐s.

This was a YA unsettling supernatural mystery surrounding one girl whose classmates were being killed and she was being drawn to some kind of a haunting spirit. The girl, Bex trying to unravel the truth of those classmates all the while staying sane with her vision of this haunting spirit.
The story had a good enough plot that could keep the reader interested in reading through the pages and the story was actually was fast phase. The characters sounded like, specially the main character, younger than the age range that it describes. The way they acted was even reflected the same. There was not much depth to the characters to make them more exciting. At times it went a bit dark but the author didn't go there, at least for me. I didn't get the scary haunting feeling from the tone of the story. I saw the potential of the story & I would have read a bit more pages even to get more intuiging plot line. The narrator was fine & finally it was an average read for me. ...more

The story follows a mom & a bestselling author, Celine, at the point of grief at the loss of one of her daughters, Libby. Celine is of course successful woman with a shining social appearance who has worked through her life as an author in between helping her loving husband and supporting his job becoming a housewife while raising her lovely daughters. She is without a doubt a strong & capable woman who is having a hard time accepting the death of Libby so, she barriers herself in work to show others, even her family that everything is perfect.
Celine has this little obsession with the book 'The Little Women' inspired her journey to become an author and in this process of grief, we see some magical elements which is a kinda of psychological thing where she sees an alternative reality of her life she builds with her school sweetheart & Libby is actually a tenant lives in her current house which makes her mind so messed up. For the most part, this book talks about motherhood, the bond between a mother and her daughters & her aspiration as an author.
This book took me by surprise with its promise but as soon as I got into the story it failed to deliver what I was expecting. The writing was just okay for me as I was hoping to get more heart-hitting, emotional time with the grief. But unfortunately, the book didn't go there for me. And the imagining part was a little insane for my taste. I think the story could have added more depth to the family as a whole aspect & could have more on the relationship between husband & wife better. The Little Women's influence was good but I didn't see much of it in the story other than mentioning that as the favourite book several times. And some things were quite a bit draggy. But I loved the representation of migraines, depression and anxiety quite a bit. I think unfortunately this one was not for me....more

I read (actually listen through the audSince this was a shorter book I jumped on it to have a good time. But, sadly, that story didn't stick with me. I read (actually listen through the audiobook) 32% way through and I didn't find any character dynamic, plot or any kind of interesting event that grabbed my attention. So, I decided to DNF this book.
The story was built around an immigrant Turkish student who lives in Berlin and who starts as a janitor when she loses her scholarship to the university. She is involved in all sorts of drug usage and doesn't have any real friends and has a complicated relationship with her family. She tries hard to turn things around for her future but fails to stick to it up to the point I read. The narrator, unfortunately, wasn't making any interesting either to me and the character felt like 2 dimensions. However, the violent environment in her country described here kept reminding me of the war in Ukraine but it wasn't the same kind of setting. Overall I didn't feel this character was a real one and was too fast phased for my liking while nothing happened in the storyline. So if I were to give this one a rating that would be 1 start since 32% is more than enough to keep my attention. ...more
