ItThis small book doesn't go into detail about how to draw the human head with precise shading techniques or explain the value scale used in shading. It does provide some useful tips on getting proportions right and offers insights on drawing from different angles. What caught my attention the most was it’s explanation of how the proportions of the human head change as people age, from infants to adults and as they grow older, and the reasons behind these changes....more

His autobiography, which I found interesting to read, or rather, listen to, offers insights into his unique life. It’s intriguing how he desires a normal existence despite his princely status since birth. I empathize with his efforts to heal from the loss of his mother and his determination to safeguard his privacy, now including his new young family. However, his expectation for his immediate family to change their rules just for him, even though it’s understandable from a human perspective, appears peculiar. His family never was the way he wanted them to be when it comes to publicity. While he’s disappointed by his family’s counsel to ignore tabloids, I thought it’s actually a wise approach. This approach seems essential if he’s to attain his desired lifestyle. He’s admirably grounded and courageous, yet he must inevitably develop resilience against paparazzi intrusion to have a peaceful life. Another noteworthy aspect is his substantial charitable contribution from this book’s sales, benefiting charities for children in need. ...more

It provides advice from both authors as well as interviews with various creative professionals, ranging from art gallery owners to bloggers, diverse creative organizations, online art schools and so on. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and took extensive notes. However, I would like to caution that since both authors are based in the USA, a minor amount of the references offered here may be directly applicable to individuals living elsewhere. In such cases, readers may need to seek out local resources....more

Eliot Page, former Ellen Page is one of my favourite actors. What he had to go through to finally begin to be himself was very traumatic. His story will maybe, I do hope so, have a happy ending. Many people like him will feel empowered and hopeful after reading this book. Maybe someday humanity will learn to be less judgmental about each other. Saying that Eliot is so brave sounds cliche nowadays, such often used fraise, but it is definitely true. ...more

He steals and steals from the museums in Europe to, at first, trying to create a safe haven from an “ugly world” in his apartment, and after a while just because he can. His knowledge of the art history and love for the Renaissance art is understandable. His disregarding to anyone else’s feelings and basic laws of society, the criminal and exceedingly selfish behavior is almost as creepy and repulsive as that of the serial killer. Maybe exactly the same but in a different scenario. Breitwiezer had no capacity to feel the wrongness of his actions, justifying it with his love for beauty, and the existence of the art looting since the beginning of time, and him only following the tradition. This book is more about the hay days of his the art thieving and a relationship with his first girlfriend, another strange, to say the least, character, and his downfall, than what was going on in his mind. Although there are records of his psychoanalysis from the time after he was arrested. The author did a great job connecting consequentially all information available together. I was also horrified by the behavior of his mother, who have decided to punish her son (and the rest of the world, without thinking, I guess) when the truth became impossible to look away from....more

The title of this book have caught my attention, it was a like a signal that I might found exactly what was needed. Once Upon a Tome tells the tale of a young man Oliver, the author himself, who describes being hired as an apprentice by Sotherland’s bookshop. He continues by telling stories of many most unexpected shenanigans with the staff members of the store, it’s customers, the place of work itself, and many many more surprising insights that were not only very invigorating to learn about, but also were told in a such a eloquent and witty way, it made me laugh out loud. Needless to say, my sprits were sufficiently uplifted....more
