Eliot Page, former Ellen Page is one of my favourite actors. What he had to go through to finally begin to be himself was very traumatic. His story will maybe, I do hope so, have a happy ending. Many people like him will feel empowered and hopeful after reading this book. Maybe someday humanity will learn to be less judgmental about each other. Saying that Eliot is so brave sounds cliche nowadays, such often used fraise, but it is definitely true. ...more

I was shocked by Jennette honest narration, of what someone who seems to be happy and successful on the surface have gone through. It will sound definitely like a cliche, that this book will help many people who struggle with mental health problems will feel like they are not alone reading this book. But it is true. And if you one of the lucky ones who does not get the feeling of kinship reading it, I am sincerely happy for you.
I consider myself to be of these people, except for the part about mother dying of cancer. When it happened in my family many years ago, I wasn’t glad.
This year in October another tragedy happened. Back in the Ukraine my stepmom have passed away suddenly from a heart attack. I could not go back to a weighed by the war country to say final goodbye.
When I saw this book at first it’s title felt like a cruel joke to me. I was in mourning. I have resented reading it for a while. One day a thought have appeared in my mind that my stepmom would probably be curious if she saw this book, so I decided to read it, for myself and for her.
I have never watched tv shows with the actress Jennette McCurdy, but will remember her memoir. Her writing is honest, completely unpretentious, it held my attention at all time. I hope she’ll continue to write and to heal. ...more

It talks about our technology addition, the negative effects of social media, poor nutrition, ecology crisis… All of these are hard to argue with. A thought “thank you, captain Obvious“, not unkindly, but still, have popped up in my mind a few times.
The book does not offer, as a part of the title promises, an advise on how to start think deeply again. Not in the way many readers might expect.
I think the main goal of this book is to irritate, to educate, to awaken. To make us even more uncomfortable with everyday problems. As we know, that’s a state in which the growth and changes are happening.
At the end the author offers a list of groups to join, that support different causes....more

It’s starts with the author personal experience, the challenges he had to overcome, and then dives into a description of various habits creation, and what to do to help ourselves to use it to our advantage, keep the good, get rid of the bad ones. It also has a system how to self analyze and track your progress in the written form. There are many good advices about how to make improvements to a daily life, health, work, etc. There are some strange ones too. Overall I have found this book to be pretty interesting and maybe even helpful. We shall see. ...more

All theThere are many reviews that will tell the potential readers of this book that it is well written, and also that it’s very dark and disturbing. All these reviews are one hundred percent correct. I have read many novels that are dark and have lots of devastating scenes that have made me profoundly sad or angry at times. But this book have overshadowed them all. I agree with the readers who have said that many people would be better off not reading it. It contains long sections of very graphic description of all kinds of abuse, including child abuse. Needless, I have felt while reading it. At the beginning the writing was very strong, and already have made clear that one of the characters had a horrible life....more
