4**** The first part of this review is for the first half of the book which consisted of twelve short stories. Mostly about love, relationships and sex which is an ongoing theme for the author. They were all very good, but some ended in a way that left you guessing which leaves the rest up to your interpretation.
5***** The second part of this review is devoted to the second half of the book - a novella that concludes the Rabbit Angstrom series. What an amazing ride this has been! I started my journey through the Rabbit Angstrom series with book one - Rabbit, Run - which ended in a cliffhanger. Of course, I couldn't stop there and read straight through to this final book in the series - Rabbit Remembered. It ties up all the loose ends very neatly. Updike's writing and storytelling abilities are incredible. He seems so under-rated compared to other writers and unduly so, in my opinion. If you are looking for an adult read that has a lot to offer, I highly recommend searching out the five books of this series. I can't say enough....more

The way he expresses himself into the story page after page after page is intoxicating. This book was his second Pulitzer Prize winner of this series. Rabbit is still on the run from life as he has made it now at the age of 57. Still trying to figure things out with his family and other issues. I'm so glad that I found this series. And now on to the final book. Such good writing....more

His son has grown to a young man After experiencing an early midlife crisis in book two of this series, Rabbit Angstrom is now in his midlife period. His son has grown to a young man and is now the mirror-image of what Rabbit was at that age - uncertain of himself. Rabbit has seemingly straightened his own life out and doesn't need this. He'll do what he can to help his son out. Or will he? I'm thoroughly enjoying the reading of this award-winning - this book won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction - series of five from start to finish. I whole-heartedly recommend to all the reading of the Rabbit Angstrom series by John Updike for the human element that he expresses so well with his superb writing. Now, on to book four....more

I can't wait to see how he screws it up. I've put my regularly scheduled summer reading on hold to read Updike's two-time Pulitzer Prize winning series. Onward!...more

The characters have the same names, but the description of Trent as a 6'4" blonde is way different than his average height Hispanic on tv. Be that as it may, I am thoroughly enjoying the tv series - the book, not so much. Karin Slaughter is an amazing writer. She really has a way with words. The problem is, for me, that there are too many of them in this book. Needless to say, I thought it was way too long. I used the audio version and many times I found myself saying " let's get on with it". And I was totally shocked by the ending knowing the characters that are in the tv series. That's all I will say about that. Overall, the story in the book was typical of what you would see on tv and I will give book #2 a try sometime in the future....more

It was reminiscent of Grisham's book "The Chamber" which was also too long and drawn out and very detailed, as well. It pertained to a wrongful execution of a convicted murderer and its aftermath when the real killer is found out. Texas-style law and order at its best. A really good story and well-written, but just too much....more
