I love how this was written and that it isn’t just a story uncovering a murder, but how Stella’s life and backstory intertwines. It shapes her as a character beautifully, and I could see this becoming a series. This story has a lot of pieces and parts, twists and danger, secrets and lies, trauma and hope. It’s about trauma, and trust, and healing. It held me captive from the start trying to put the pieces together. It’s thought provoking and emotional. Fantastic!

There are a lot of moving pieces to this story! While working to find a missing child and a fugitive on the loose, this story also held a lot of mystery behind Sunshine’s past and her own abduction. Sunshine has some amnesia regarding this and is starting to remember pieces. She has secretly been investigating this herself. The ending sure left me anxious to get to the next book.
Sunshine Levi’s relationship is super intriguing. Sunshine has been in love with Levi since they were kids. Levi is very complex, cares a lot and protects his family, but is very broody and has a bad boy vibe to him. There were a lot of hints surrounding these two and I can’t wait to see what is to come here and what secrets are uncovered.
This story has great relationships. I loved Sunshine and her daughter Auri’s relationship. There was a lot of emotion surrounding their past and I love their bond. The bond between Sunshine and her best friend Quincy is fun. I also enjoy that he’s her deputy and the dynamic they have going on. The relationship between Auri and Levi and Jimmy was just so heartwarming. I love how that unfolded and seeing what a bond they had.

Megan Goldin sure knows how to weave an intricate plot. Once again, I found myself captivated in this complex story of murder, suspense, secrets, and danger. I did; however, really miss listening to Rachel’s podcast. That was what really drew me in to the first book. I really enjoyed Rachel and FBI agent Joe Martinez’s spark and I hope this continues on in future stories and we see something develop there.

This story holds you captive from the start. The prologue gave me chills. What Sloane and Callie have been through, my heart went out to them. Sloane is an inspiration; such perseverance and hard work for her and her daughter. I loved getting to know Walker. He holds a lot of guilt and breaking that hard exterior and seeing what a wonderful, caring man he is, is not an easy feat. His interactions with Callie were so beautiful. These three melted my heart.
Walker and Sloane have perfect chemistry. You can feel it in every interaction, and I loved watching these two heal each other. This story had good action and lots of emotions. It’s a beautiful story of healing, letting go of the past, and finding love. It’s heartfelt and beautiful. ...more

Nathalie, my heart. She held so much pain. But watching her grow and begin to find herself was just beautiful. When she smiled, I felt it, when she found joy, I felt it. She is guarded and searching to find peace and I love how the simplest things bring her joy.
Asa is a hot mess in this book! Man oh man. I sure hope in the next book we find out what possessed him to even ask Juliet to marry him and how their relationship came about. It’s as if they have no relationship at all. I just love Asa’s mannerism and his uniqueness. It was heartbreaking to see his struggles growing up and beautiful to see the bonds he made with Etienne and his family, as well as Miles, Rainey, and Conrad.

Juliet, whew! That girl is sinister! And what exactly is she up to? I don’t believe that ending at all with all the glimpses of crazy we were given throughout this story, and I am anxious to see what exactly her end game is. Is she after Asa? Using him to get to someone/something else?

I loved the glimpses into the past through the years so we could see everything Nat and Asa have been through and shared. You could watch their bond grow and see and feel just how close they have always been. They have such a deep understanding of each other and the way they have always been there for each other through the years is heartwarming.

I was excited to get Lena’s story. She had me very intrigued when we met her in the Sin Series. I loved her strong personality, business sense, and heI was excited to get Lena’s story. I enjoyed learning more about Lena, her past, and what brought her to where she is in her life. She’s fought hard to get to where she is and; meeting CJ was just what she was missing and needed.
Lena and CJ are so comfortable with each other. But, someone is stalking Lena and her walls are up even tighter than normal. This story is filled with deception, secrets, and lies. Who can be trusted?
