I love the writing. The delicious little morsels dropped here and there. All the unknown. I love the multiple points of views and how we don’t know who some of them are. Great world building with wonderful descriptors. I felt like I could see and feel everything happening to Zo. Who is who and who can be trusted? So much mystery and intrigue and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

This story is packed with emotions, trauma, getting past the past, survival, letting others in, and so much love.
Billie and Brett, wow! These two burrow into your heart. Their pasts touch you deeply. The way they see each other, truly see each other, is just so beautiful. And their chemistry is off the charts. The vulnerability they each share is immense.
Tijan’s ability to create scenes is amazing. I could see and feel everything throughout this story. The family bonds, the stress and worry, the love Lo, Vicky, Howard, and Roger have for Billie, the love Brett has for Will and his nieces and nephews. Tijan depicts living a life in hiding incredibly. I could feel Billie’s trauma and stress. I can’t imagine living life so isolated and fearful. Her strength and resilience are insurmountable. And Brett’s struggles with his past and how his emotions overwhelm him. You could feel everything!
While Billie and Brett are fantastic characters, the supporting characters are just as amazing. The love and bonds run so deep, and you feel so much through every interaction.
These characters go through Hell and back in this story. It’s raw and emotional, gripping and chilling. Fantastic twists and love so deep you feel it in your bones. Fantastic!

There are a lot of moving pieces to this story! While working to find a missing child and a fugitive on the loose, this story also held a lot of mystery behind Sunshine’s past and her own abduction. Sunshine has some amnesia regarding this and is starting to remember pieces. She has secretly been investigating this herself. The ending sure left me anxious to get to the next book.
Sunshine Levi’s relationship is super intriguing. Sunshine has been in love with Levi since they were kids. Levi is very complex, cares a lot and protects his family, but is very broody and has a bad boy vibe to him. There were a lot of hints surrounding these two and I can’t wait to see what is to come here and what secrets are uncovered.
This story has great relationships. I loved Sunshine and her daughter Auri’s relationship. There was a lot of emotion surrounding their past and I love their bond. The bond between Sunshine and her best friend Quincy is fun. I also enjoy that he’s her deputy and the dynamic they have going on. The relationship between Auri and Levi and Jimmy was just so heartwarming. I love how that unfolded and seeing what a bond they had.
There are still secrets to be uncovered that were hinted at and I can’t wait to see where this is all going to lead. This story is filled with intrigue, suspense, and great wit and humor. ...more

Megan Goldin sure knows how to weave an intricate plot. Once again, I found myself captivated in this complex story of murder, suspense, secrets, and danger. I did; however, really miss listening to Rachel’s podcast. That was what really drew me in to the first book. I really enjoyed Rachel and FBI agent Joe Martinez’s spark and I hope this continues on in future stories and we see something develop there.

Woah, this story sure held me captive. Told from Sarah’s point of view, we are taken through an intense journey of mean girls, mental illness, and a tWoah, this story sure held me captive. Told from Sarah’s point of view, we are taken through an intense journey of mean girls, mental illness, and a twisty tale filled with suspense.
There were very emotional moments as we are shown through Sarah’s eyes how her minds perspective could twist reality and how difficult things can be for her, and intense emotional moments of mean girl pranks and torments.
I enjoyed watching the connection grow between Sarah and Strots and Sarah and Nick Hollis. It was great to see her find some semblance of happiness and comfort. There are a lot of different things happening in this story and many moving pieces and as things progress, the suspense heightens. As Sarah tries to connect the dots between everyone and the details emerging, things begin to spiral. We are left with a very interesting ending that will leave you pondering! ...more
