after loving Bloom by this author and having similar feelings with Guillotine, Delilah S. Dawson is on her way to becoming one of my fav authors in the horror genre. this book actually does compare to Ready or Not and The Menu and it was pure entertainment the whole way through. the mc Des has a eye for fashion, so when she lands herself a date with Patrick who is the son of a famous mogul in the industry she suffers through his personality and god complex in order to meet her idol.
Patrick ends up inviting Des to his families island where she has to sign an NDA and most of her belongings are confiscated. the longer she’s on the island, the more Patrick’s sinister family secrets are revealed. i found Des hilarious and the way she dragged Patrick to filth had me deceased. when the horror elements kicked in i just couldn’t look away and i really loved the ending and the direction this took. will definitely read anything this author publishes from this moment on, so much fun!...more

things occurring while you’re supposed to be asleep is probably one of the only elements in horror that can genuinely unnerve me irl— i really enjoyed those moments where the mc woke up & had no clue what exactly happened but there’s blaring evidence that she clearly did something very wrong. the ending was kinda ambiguous but it fit well with the story as a whole so it didn’t bother me. i loved that this was straight to the point and the steady sense of unease as things got worse was perfectly executed. i’d recommend reading this through the audio cause the narrator is one of my favs & she really brought this whole novella to life! ...more

Wilf and Arlette are a married couple who pretty much hate eachother. Wilf and his family live on a farm and the conflict between him and his wife snowballs into insanity when Arlette tells him she wants to sell their land— something Wilf will do anything to stop from happening. Wilf involves his son Hank into his schemes and everything goes downhill fast from there. this book takes a sort of “ghost story” approach to the topic of karma and decisions coming back to haunt those who deserve it in the end.. this was a wild ride for sure!...more

stop.. cause i loved Adena and Mak more than i thought i would. as much as i admire a fiesty fmc, there’s something so endearing about the softness and light that is Adena. im actually grateful for this novella cause there was barely any insight into who Adena was outside of her friendship with Pae and this book helped change that a bit. the romance just felt so sweet and tender to me and i adored them together. im also beyond curious to see what’ll happen with Mak’s character in the future based on the info given here! ...more

the chaos and bizarre nature of this novella is so on par with Eric LaRocca’s usual writing, they are great at making me feel traumatized and speechless.. (i promise that’s a compliment). don’t ask me to explain what this is about cause i couldn’t even gather a coherent thought, i’ll just say i loved the story within a story approach and this was not at all what i was expecting but i still enjoyed it....more

Grief is a language that tears us apart, but it is also what brings us together. Remember, you are never alone.”
there’s something so interesting about grief horror and the way these authors use the “unnatural” to convey emotions so relatable to the human experience. the sense of melancholy was strong in this one but i just didn’t really connect to the story like i feel i was supposed to, so in the end it didn’t do much for me. ...more

Antoinette lost something very valuable - her childhood and innocence, which unfortunately is something that you can never get back....more

unlike the previous installments, this one was a direct sequel to Lost in the Moment and Found. we follow Antoinette as she’s forced to right some wrongs of her past. the return of Sumi, Kade, Christopher and Cora who join her on her journey was my absolute favorite thing about this cause i love them so much (especially Kade and Sumi). i do wish there was more time spent in the portal world of dinosaurs, but i thought this was another great entry to this series that handled it’s deeper topics so well and i loved the ending of this one. i will be so sad when it’s over and we finally get Kade’s book.

I liked this and I love a good cameo and this definitely delivered on that!...more

I thought this portal world was so much fun and I liked Regan and I appreciated the talk of being accepting of other’s different to you and dealing with the pressure of expectations. the friends she meets along the way were also entertaining and there’s a found family aspect that i thought was so cute but the ending was definitely lack luster and felt just kind of… pointless.
