'Beautiful World, Where Are You' contained some beautiful thoughts and quotes I already can't stop thinking about and its characters felt so real and vulnerable again. Just a brilliant read.
There seems to be a little dispute about the e-mail sections in the book, like readers either stayed just for the mails or that's the part they skipped while reading. Well I loved reading these thoughtful e-mails. But while I see them as not completely separate from the story line, as they sometimes conveyed the plot a bit and also reflected how the current situation of the characters influenced the topics and tone of the mails they were writing, I still felt like they interrupted the narrative sometimes. Even though I don't want to miss the mails it felt a bit like squeezed in essays. But the story itself could have been strong enough. So I am a little bit in between what to think about it. But Sally Rooney, I'd also read and devour an essay collection if you put one out :)...more

It is also nice to see how Alice Oseman addresses more relevant topic with each volume and deals with them in a really good way. Just nice to read such a well done ya (love) story.
Anyway, now that I finally caught up with the hype I can’t wait… … a) for Heartstopper Volume 5 to be published … b) to binge the Netflix show (immediately) … c) to finally watch all my favourite booktuber’s „I read all Heartstopper Graphic Novels” reading vlogs
Guess my media consumption is figured out for the next couple of days :)...more

I loved it, enjoyed every second reading it, but it somehow was not five stars for me.
The whole book it felt like the author was building up the reader’s emotions to crush them in the end. And as it sure did this to many, as the end of the story is clear, I did not end up crying. And maybe that is a bit while it first felt like the book was not delivering what it promised to me. Now I think it might was more my fault than the book’s. And I probably end up crying the time I’m rereading it, which i plan to do for sure.
As this is a much celebrated work, probably all that could be said about it has been said and probably better than I ever could. I’ll just say now: It is a great love story, full of emotions and beautifully written. And as you see the two main characters grow old, you care deeply for them. Don’t go into reading expecting a lot of details about the Trojan War, as the book -while staying pretty close to the Iliad as far as I can tell- focused pretty much only on Achilles and Patroclus. But that it does so well, that it should not bother anyone. I think it is a great read whether you are a Greek mythology geek or not at all!
In the end I found myself listening to many “Song of Achilles” Playlists on Spotify, even making my own eventually, reading and laughing about loads of tumblr posts and memes about the book on Pinterest and generally obsessing about Greek myths again (as I did in my Percy Jackson Times).
With that much impact on me, it just feels not right to leave my Goodreads rating like that and I just have to bump it up one more stars. So here you go, a five star rating from me :) And now excuse my while I listen to another episode of “Let’s talk about myths, Baby!” by Liv Albert or read a bit in Steven Fry’s “Mythos” as I just can’t get enough now. ...more

After being a bit depressed from „Normal People“ (which I loved but somehow also triggered the hell out of me) I needed something lighter and wholesome and Nicola Yoon delivered again.
„The Sun is also a Star“ is one of my favourite YA contemporaries and made Nicola Yoon an „instant-buy author“ to me. While „Instructions for Dancing“, as also her debut, did not hit that mark for me, I really enjoyed it a lot.
It is just a real comfort read! It reads like a really good teen romcom movie you want to watch over and over again. And the main character is super witty and funny (as well as dancing teacher Fiffy), so I had to laugh out loud quite some times and just had a fun and lovely time reading this book with it’s lovely message, which is not only about the joy of love but also considers the (quite big chance) of it ending sometimes while still celebrating it....more
