It provided the backdrop to what I'm hoping will be the meat of the story. I can't wait for book 2 and to get to the heart of the matter!...more

This was a wholesome romance between a poor, hot jock and a rich needy, quiet, pretty girl. It's somewhat predictable but what was different was that the H falls just as hard as the h. It was a little too cinnamon and sweet for my taste (hence the 3 stars) and I was surprised at this from this author. Still, it was well written and a page turner....more

- the h is in love with the H but gets completely creeped out and ott fearful of his advances. Although the H is aggressive, the way the story is written, the reader fears for the h and the whole Non Con aspect truly detracted from enjoying the spicy scenes.
- then out of the blue, just because the H made some teeny, tiny, minor, positive moves, the h decides it's ok to give him her v-card in the midst of him assaulting her!!! It goes from noncon to acceptance in literally one second. What!?
- I was completely turned off by the side characters of Anae l, Dare and all their bullshit antics which had nothing to do with the main characters. Anae is the antagonist to Hannah's story and had no business taking up so much of this story. Anae and Dare were given much too much spotlight in this story. So was Hannah but at least she was the bff and interesting, so setting up her future story was a good excuse. But the other 2 evil characters were just out of place and forcefully a part of the plot. It would have been nice to get more backstory on Arden instead.
- the mundane day to day routine of the h was boring! It did nothing to move the story forward.
- the ott lovey-dovey perfect mother-daughter relationship was nauseating. The mom was ott invested in her daughter. A complete antithesis to all the horrible, abusive, neglectful parents in bully books. She was extremely involved in her daughter's life and the h was equally receptive of it and never tells her off for being such a helicopter parent.

But once they hooked up it lost steam. The drama seemed forced and trite. The solutions were obvious but drawn out simply for the plot. It was frustrating to read such obvious ploys to stretch out the story. But I was invested in the characters and needed to read it through to the end. There was so much more potential but it fell short....more

I really enjoyed this duet. Loved the plot and drama. Loved that it was paranormal, a new concept for these authors.
So my one complaint- someone PLEAI really enjoyed this duet. Loved the plot and drama. Loved that it was paranormal, a new concept for these authors.
So my one complaint- someone PLEASE work with Amo on her writing style! While I'm not sure if it's improved since EKC or if it's Meaghan's influence it still suffers from the following: - sudden jolts in trajectory -a build up of emotions and drama that has no purpose -overdone, obnoxious, loudmouth, vapid, shallow heroines who have zero intelligence and are only interested in getting drunk/high, indiscriminately getting laid, wearing flashy, revealing clothes and driving flashy cars and are such a stereotype of a dumb, shallow teenaged girl. It's embarrassing. -if I have to read one more H running his finger over his lip.....wtf is that? And why do all her H's have this character trait?!?
Someone please get this woman a good editor. She has so much potential....more

The sisters move into Noah's house after their parents marry. Noah resents his stepmom Clara because he can't forgive her for comforting his dad, Curt when his mother, Annabelle was on her deathbed. He feels they cheated on Annabelle.
Noah has a sour attitude towards the Ames women but slowly Skylar starts to make him curious and he eventually falls for her. Skylar is also very taken by Noah's pain and rebellion and is very drawn to him. They eventually give in to tgeir desires and fall deeply in love.
Skylar makes the tough decision to give up her lifelong dream to attend Dartmouth on a scholarship in order to stay on the island with Noah. Noah is stuck following the footsteps of the Fountaine men and becoming a fisherman. Clara, Skylar's mom, convinces Noah to give up Skylar so that she can pursue her dreams. Noah realizes he can only do that by breaking Skylar's heart. So he "cheats" on her with his uber-rich on-off girlfriend and Skylar's rival, Stacey Monroe.
Skylar is obviously devastated and moves out, temporarily staying with her deadbeat dad before proceeding to Dartmouth. Noah is heartbroken. Cliffhanger
Note: It's not clear if Noah actually cheated with Stacy. But they were both together in Stacy's bedroom.
I'm curious if part 2 is going to be as predictable. Curious also about Daisy and Derrick Monroe's relationship....more
