Me gusta que también sea una visión de futuro de lo que seguramente el Almirante Stavridis ha aportado sobre lo que será la balanza de poder militar y tecnológico de los siguientes 10 o 20 años. En realidad, este libro salió de repente cuando intentaba encontrar algo que hablara de conocimientos básicos de agricultura, pero me alegro de haberme encontrado con esto.
El señor Fukuoka, aunque explica en un capítulo su método "revolucionario" que responde a los problemas de la agricultura moderna en una época en la que el cambio climático no era sino un minúsculo bache en el gran problema de la modernidad; el gran aporte del autor es su reconsideración del mundo agrícola haciendo uso de las enseñanzas de la filosofía oriental. Es una especie de respuesta como otras muchas al desvío espiritual y afectivo con la naturaleza que comenzó con la Revolución Industrial y que culminó con la globalización. La necesidad de acelerar el ritmo natural para alimentar no sólo más bocas, sino de manera específica, adaptada, tomando los frutos de plantas que sabemos que no germinan en esa estación pero que aún así deseamos enchufarnos 10 mandarinas relucientes y bien redondas en verano.
Aunque quería hablar sobre su increíble modelo, me quedo con que el libro puede ser muchas cosas y entre ellas un camino hacia una mejor relación con la comida, con la agricultura, el campo y el disfrute personal. ¿Hace cuánto que no disfrutamos un bol de arroz natural, orgánico, solo, sin especias ni más modificación que la cocción, y no hemos pensado que éramos muy pobres o muy vagos por disfrutar sólo de ello? ...more

Me he saltado algunos cachos pero es que tampoco importa mucho, porque son completamente inconexos y no hay un hilo conductor más allá de la existencia de los mismos personajes durante todo el libro.
Cuando leí en una de las reseñas que leer a Can Xue era como leer los sueños no mentían. Leer el libro es como intentar seguir una mosca con los ojos, desaparece frente a ti, vuelve a aparecer unos metros más allá y de nuevo se deshace sin ver siquiera a dónde iba. En el libro no ocurre necesariamente nada, pero no por ello es un mal libro, es más bien la increíble dificultad que me causa el seguir esa nada para encontrar una bonita estampa de un párrafo cada 30 páginas.
Los personajes tampoco me han entusiasmado y la enorme cantidad de metáforas por metro cuadrado especialmente en la primera mitad hacen de este libro un cursillo de folklore chino en esteroides. Estoy bastante disgustado con el rumbo que tomó el libro así como el final que el autor quiso dejar para el mismo. No estoy en contra de libros inacabados, los finales abiertos así como los finales de meditación personal en los que el lector se queda con el mensaje del libro para regurgitarlo durante los siguientes días, todo eso está bien, pero debe hacerse bien. De hecho, Murakami parece querer cerrar su libro, dándole un futuro a su protagonista, uno que incluso parece feliz. Sin embargo, la cantidad de cabos sueltos es ingente, no ya que no se expliquen, sino que nos dejan con la duda de si tuvieron algún sentido para la lectura en general, remarcar fechas, elementos y personas para finalmente no sacar nada en claro de ello. En suma, una pérdida de recursos literarios.
Como obra en general, además, tarda mucho en arrancar. Quizá no es hasta las 300 páginas cuando los personajes empiezan a tener interés, las historias divididas se comienzan a juntar y algunas revelaciones tienen un interés más que menos interesante y que te deja con las ganas de ir al siguiente capítulo. Pero, como he dicho, el final no resuelve esa tensión que se produce ya bastante tarde, los elementos de irrealidad o surrealismo no me han parecido que encajasen bien, ni que jugasen a favor de la narración.
No puedo decir que haya sido una pérdida de tiempo, las referencias que envuelven las situaciones adultas, el amor de murakami por la música y las culturas clásicas que desde sus libros aconsejan a los personajes en su viaje, personajes variopintos, carismáticos y bien desarrollados; dan mayormente una idea de cohesión al viaje, pero siguen sin ser suficientes para atrapar al lector, por no mencionar la cantidad de veces en las que el autor se apoya en escenas explícitas, con un sexo o pensamientos de lívido entre lo tabú y la torpeza adolescente. ...more

Mishima ha ido desviando nuestra atención desde un personaje a otro y ha contrapuesto motivaciones hasta cambiar el alma de algunos personajes. Comenté hacia el primer tercio cómo el enfrentamiento entre los dos protagonistas con distintas ideologías me ha hecho dudar del posicionamiento del autor, pero no he pensado en el ejercicio del lector para posicionarse.
Honda nace como la quintaesencia del derecho civil, de al justicia y de la integridad del poder y la moralidad moderna. Isao, por su parte, el rechazo de esa modernidad occidental, la veneración de los antiguos dioses shinto y la viva imagen de la juventud patriótica del emperador. Hay matices que no llego a alcanzar como la doble moral de la voluntad popular (el pensamiento del público japonés de la época) que rechaza los asesinatos de los grandes empresarios mientras que alaban la actitud "patriótica" y a favor del emperador representada por los jóvenes que sólo se conseguiría a través de los asesinatos. Esto no implica perder el hilo de los deseos y necesidades en una "sociedad de la vergüenza" como la denominaba Ruth Benedict, que se desenmarañan a lo largo del relato.
Ambos personajes ceden en sus ideales por diversos motivos, vemos personajes puros que se corrompen y viceversa. Vemos hilos de confianza, lealtad y clientelismo que se extienden ocultos entre el moderado elenco de personajes. Pero cómo no, tenemos esa preciosista descripción y la deliciosa presentación de los discursos internos que tan característicos son del autor. Me interesé en este libro con el objetivo de observar un punto de vista diametralmente opuesto al purismo espiritual, tradicional y disciplinado del Japón que tanto turismo y papel ha vendido. Creo que si el señor Ango observase el Japón del s.XXI quizá estaría más contento que Mishima, pero quizá no demasiado. Esta colección de textos son esencialmente manifiestos del mismo autor y toda una serie de autores de la decadencia japoneses que abarcaron las librerías de pensamiento "revolucionario" entre los 1945-1950, por lo que su valor es esencialmente histórico. Digo histórico en el terrible sentido de desfasado porque las ideas de Ango son verdaderamente obsoletas para el observador actual (especialmente si no estás demasiado de acuerdo con ellas).
Ango observa en el Japón de pre y postguerra una calamidad estética y vital, y las combate con dos escritos dedicados a la "esencia del espíritu japonés" y a "las tradiciones estigmáticas" en sus escritos "Mi visión sobre la cultura japonesa" y "Sobre la decadencia". En el primer escrito Ango aboga por la practicidad, el pragmatismo (representado en su escrito con la arquitectura), apuntando que si se busca la belleza enfocándose en crear belleza, tal flor será artificial y esencialmente falsa. No es sino en la búsqueda de la comodidad, en la mejora de las condiciones de vida y la practicidad, afirma, que el ser humano encontrará (inintencionadamente) la belleza real, quizá no pura, quizá vulgar, suburbana, pero será belleza. Creo que el autor habría adorado el funcionalismo arquitectónico, el brutalismo y el intenso urbanismo que el Japón de posguerra desarrolló hasta la saciedad; pero quizás habría disentido en relación a ese estúpido y a la vez tan importante mito del espiritualismo de la sociedad japonesa, el equilibrio perfecto de lo antiguo y lo nuevo, ese asidero de la tradición purista al que Japón ha querido (mal que bien) agarrarse para mantener su vida, su personalidad. La segunda sección hace un claro llamamiento a la decadencia como método de salvación personal, devolver al ser humano a su esencia real, caer para desprenderse de las capas superficiales de falsedad, etiqueta, austeridad y demás imposiciones esencialmente del mandato imperial (una pena que el controvertido juicio a Japón haya decaído en una falta casi absoluta de aceptación de culpa). Hablar de la necesidad de caer en lo más bajo para descubrir la propia humanidad parece algo no muy revolucionario en occidente, pero para el Japón de posguerra era, como algunos comentaristas apuntan, como una descarga eléctrica, como desprenderse al momento del yugo de la guerra, recuperarse a sí mismo y alejarse de la necesidad imperial de morir por una figura divina.
El autor desea desvirtuar el orientalismo que las sociedades occidentales han impuesto al país y que el propio sistema imperial se ha autoimpuesto y convengo con él. Sin embargo, ciertos aspectos y puntualidades sobre la belleza me son bastante distantes, es como enterrar el por qué de mi admiración por su cultura y, al mismo tiempo, saber aceptarlo, que Japón, como el autor culmina en una sentencia perfecta, aunque Japón se occidentalice, aunque caiga en la peor de las derrotas, aunque todos los templos sean derruidos "eso no significa que estemos abandonando Japón". Más allá de las implicaciones lingüísticas o filosóficas de pensar en una identidad como un territorio, unos edificios o unos rituales, es bastante profundo pensar y anunciar a una población destrozada moralmente tras la guerra, que sean como sean, seguirán siendo japoneses si se mantienen sanos y aprenden a vivir. Todo este tema es escabroso y controvertido, su lectura no especialmente entretenida o, al menos para mi, trascendente, pero su repercusión parece ser importante y las anotaciones y análisis de los textos en esta edición son exquisitos. ...more
