FMC: El- the shy, timid, keep-your-head-down friend of the group who doesn’t like to take risks… until her forever crush challenges her to a challenge of doing 1 crazy thing a month for the year to bring her out of her shell. I LOVED that at the end of the book we got to read her journal entries ...more

All thoughts and opinions are my own. HEA: yes spice: several open-door spicy scenes TWs: blackmail, car accident (non-fatal), death of a parent (recounted), parental abandonment, cheating (not MCs), verbally abusive partner, verbally abusive parent, sexism standalone: book 3 in the Chestnut Springs series final thoughts: OKAY SO JASPER TOOK ME BY COMPLETE SURPRISE!!! He comes across as grumpy when he’s a shy cinnamon roll guy, but WOW does his mouth not match that persona!! I love a dirty talking MMC especially when it’s unexpected. I loved how he was a hockey player and a cowboy- didn’t know how that was going to play out but it was done well. I’m glad Sloan made him work for it since he’s turned her down over and over throughout the years

HEA: yes spice: several open-door spicy scenes TWs: broken engagement, death of a parent (recounted), emotional cheating, emotional manipulation standalone: book 3 in the Cane Brothers trilogy (technically can be read as a standalone but more context is added when read as a series) final thoughts: This book was my favorite of the series! Although I didn’t love the intimacy (even though it was completely platonic) between 2 characters while 1 is in a relationship with someone else… it was well done. We get to see both MCs fall for each other on paper and it’s so cute! I love how Breaker stood up for and supported Lia no matter what the scenario was. And I really love the trope of nerdy boy in the streets, dirty talker in the sheets

HEA: yes spice: several open-door spicy scenes TWs: grief, death of a parent (recounted) standalone: book 2 in the Cane Brothers trilogy (technically can be read as a standalone but more context is added when read as a series) final thoughts: I once again wish the MMC had to grovel a bit more for their HEA but overall, I loved this book. There was some cute and funny banter, and I loved being able to see both 1st person POVs to see how and why they were reacting the way they did. Kelsey was honestly completely blind for most of this book which got me frustrated at times, but JP was the saving grace of that (even if he did get me frustrated now and again too). Love this series and can’t wait to read the next one.
i wanted to LOVE this- LGBT small town romance, friend to lovers to kinda-rivals-kinda-just-estranged to lovers again- but it was a bit hard to followi wanted to LOVE this- LGBT small town romance, friend to lovers to kinda-rivals-kinda-just-estranged to lovers again- but it was a bit hard to follow
this is book 5 of a series with all books marketed as able to be read as standalones but i had such a hard time following the complicated relationships of this tiny town without having read the other books
this book follows Silas and Leo in a slow burn dual POV with flashbacks to their high school friendship, the start of their relationship, why they became estranged, and how they rekindled their romance while there were some super cute scenes, and while i was interested and invested enough to finish, i was so lost through most of the book- we don't learn the backstory to almost anything- including the fact that the characters knew each other before they "met" in the first few chapters (like okay obviously we know that from the book summery but still)
overall: cute read, love the story idea, should not be read as a standalone, MM romance, miscommunication is a HUGE HUGE HUGE trope in this book and honestly drove me completely wild most of the time...more

All thoughts and opinions are my own. POV: 1st person, dual POV HEA: yes spice: several open-door spicy scenes TWs: estranged family, narcissistic parent, cheating (not MCs), body shaming standalone: book 3 in Avalon Bay series final thoughts: rich girl looking for a summer fling meets golden retriever townie boy who insists they should just stay friends. They’re constantly drawn together from being neighbors who can see into each other’s bedrooms to being in the same friend circles that their tension finally snaps. He agrees to help her with her confidence which leads to some precarious situations and some super-hot make out and mutual touching sessions. My favorite book in the series so far even though FMC’s mum was a real piece of work.
