We meet Keenan and Ellis in For nEver Mine, and towards the end, we see they have "accidentally mated". This book focuses on the lead-up to that night and the aftermath. I loved how low angst this story was. Yes, it's taboo, but sometimes you just need two brothers in love without all the heavy stuff. Don't get me wrong, Keenan and Ellis cause tension and issues within their family, but in the end they are accepted. So don't expect them to be shunned or rejected; that is not the focus of this story. I adored how affectionate and close they were before becoming mates. Ellis is the baby of the family and the only Omega, and Keenan is the eldest and Alpha. Ellis is doted on and spoiled by his big brother. He’s not just my big brother, he’s my best friend too. Our souls are as close as two souls can be without a mate bond, so if Keenan’s hurt, I’d know. I’d feel it. Something inside of me would shatter. Right? I appreciated Riley's strength as an Omega, but I also loved how Odessa wrote Ellis! I jokingly say that I'm an omegaverse traditionalist; I like my Alphas like Alphas and my omegas as omegas with that traditional Alpha/Omega relationship dynamic. I get that in this book. We have the size difference; Ellis is more submissive, and I love how his brother reassured him that it's okay just to be himself, an omega and that there's strength in that. The steam and the kinks. Odessa writes some A++ steamy scenes, but this book takes it to another level. We get CNC, mouth knotting!!! (like I can count on one hand how many times I read that in a book), breath play, shift sex and more!! I loved it all so much. The world-building! I am super excited for what is to come in this series, we get a peek as this book sets up next story. I am so excited because we are going to get mpreg in this world and I’m hoping that we will get to see both Riley and Ellis pregnant by their brothers! I need some honest to god incest mpreg, please and thank you! Overall I really enjoyed Never Say Never and can’t wait for Locke and Jaiden’s story! ...more |

Please heed all the warnings for this book. Forced is pretty much cover to cover non-con. The two aliens who do end up buying Lee really do care and love him, but they interpret "No" as "Yes" throughout the whole book. This book is connected to Captured. Lee is an S-class Space Courier who is captured by pirates and later sold to the Dresht. We learn that they are an alien species that needs humans as hosts to complete their reproductive cycle. Lee is sold to Eral and Ronet, a mated pair. They do care for him greatly and treat him well. He's like a beloved pet to them. However, Lee wants his freedom. He's gagged, plugged and mitted and has almost no agency. Even when he voices his concerns, they are misinterpreted by the two Dresht. They view him in an almost childlike way, acting as if they know what is best for him. This is all due to information collected on humans, which they use as a manual - think of a "How to Guide" for human pets. The irony is that they think they know him best, so even if he speaks for himself, they see him as a naive, innocent creature and willfully (or not) disregard his wants completely. He was also sexually assaulted before coming to them, so he has a lot of trauma and fear about what is to happen to him. Lee is being used as a vessel for their eggs; they need a third party, and humans seem to be the best hosts. They dote on him, shower him with care and love him, but it’s all pretty fucked up. Dove describes this story as “soft, loving non-con” and I would agree. Lee himself starts to accept the attention and affection he is showered upon slowly. The aliens he's under the care of do not harm him intentionally - they desire. He even questions his initial goals and motives for escape, doubting himself. So, there’s a heavy dose of Stockholm syndrome in this story. "He may be their pet, but he was a precious one. One they seemed to care deeply about. Aside from giving him no choice in the matter, yesterday they’d been so gentle with him. They’d made him take so much, but then had pampered him, carried him around, stroked him and even taken the trappings off his hands–" This story is told from Lee's POV, so we get a front-row seat to his experience. It can be hard to read since you're seeing his mental state, especially when the "season" happens, especially during the oviposition scenes - what Lee goes through mentally and physically is pretty rough. Overall I really enjoyed this book! I love dark stories like this - add Alien + eggpreg this book was just amazing. This book is not for everyone but if you enjoy noncon (once again no means yes to these aliens), humiliation and dark stories I recommend it. Forced does not have a happy ending and it ends on a cliffhanger but I'm looking forward to book two. ...more |

“This is what a bond means. Being tied together so completely, I feel him reaching into my heart.” I literally devoured Freefall in a few hours, and “This is what a bond means. Being tied together so completely, I feel him reaching into my heart.” I literally devoured Freefall in a few hours, and the plan was to pace myself, but that idea went out the window real fast. My love of Roe’s stories, especially his omegaverse series, is no secret, but I especially adore the world he created in Dragons of Ardaine, and Freefall was another wonderful addition to it. This story was more of a slow burn and very tender compared to the first two books. While it’s a bit of a slow burn, it’s a slow burn Roe Style! And once Freefall heated up, it burned burned. We have young omega Ansel (19), who is being pushed into an arranged marriage by his parents to a pompous upper-class alpha. He’s expected to say yes, with no one caring at all for feelings on this matter. Sadly, that has been the norm in his life. His parents only care about their status and image, and for them, all that matters is that their son marries the most eligible and sought-after Alpha in the city before his first heat. Their protectiveness has become twisted. Ansel decides to go to his dear grandfather’s abandoned cabin close to the national park to escape and have space from his parents and the upcoming engagement. His grandfather, who had been the only one to see and care for him truly, had told him tales of the dragons he saw as a child, and while at the cabin during a storm, he learns that the dragons in his grandfather’s stories are real. Pascal (39) is a math professor and dragon who is approaching his 40s without a mate. He’s moved away from Ontario to Aradine for a better chance of finding his mate. However, he’s had no luck so far. After attending a party in which he was reminded of how lonely he was, he decided to stretch his wings to get rid of the itchy and angsty feelings he’d been having. He crash lands after narrowly escaping being hit by lightning, only to be found by a young omega who turns out to be his fated mate. Never had anyone smelled like him. Never had anyone made me feel like this. I was hungry, aroused, afraid… raw. I felt raw. It hit me harder than the lightning that had nearly killed me a couple of days ago. Ansel is my mate. My heart! Pascal has to be the sweetest Alpha so far in this series and so perfect for Anisel. Their dynamic is quite different from the other mated pairs of this series so far, especially comparing them to the very kinky Leo and Davidson. There’s a particular softness and innocence that these two had I didn’t feel from the others. Their chemistry and the intensity of the emotion, however, are at a level 100 when they come together. My heart melted when they were reunited again after Ansel ran away right into Pascal’s arms! That moment when they first kissed and what followed made me feel all gooey, kicking my feet like a teenager! Swoony, sexy, and steamy! I sound like a broken record, but Roe writes some of my favourite types of Alphas! Sweet, caring, putting their omegas’ well-being first and wanting nothing more than to protect and please them without suffocating them. They love and treasure their mates fiercely and will never harm them and Pascal fit that to a T. The possivesness was also a plus. I also loved how strong Ansel was! He stood up for himself over and over again not letting himself be passive in his life anymore. I love how Pascal admired his strong character and inner strength. “Ansel, sweetheart, I might be here for eighty more years. I want nothing more than to spend them all by your side, loving you, taking care of you, holding you when you need me, and cheering you on from the sidelines when you fulfill your dreams. You’re my mate, my treasure, and the love of my life. Will you become my husband?” The sex. Okay, so Ansel and Pascal take their time. This is due to many factors, but especially since Ansel is so young and Pascal, as much as he wants his mate, has some reservations. He cares so deeply for him that he does not feel imprisoned by him when he has been by his parents his whole life. However, I love that with some time and communication, they know when the time is right for them. Once again, Roe writes some of the most emotional, erotic and filthy sex scenes ever. You always need a cold drink and a fan, and in Freefall, we get both dragon bonding sex with lover’s milk and heat sex. Also, all the rimming and the dirty talk!! Pascal was holding back before, but once he gets going, he definitely becomes all Alpha Dragon, ready to satisfy and pleasure his mate. I also love how assertive his omegas are in their pleasure while keeping that Alpha/Omega dynamic. “Fractured ideas flashed through my head while my body soared. About what he’d said, being my first and my last. That I belonged to him now. That I wasn’t a virgin anymore. He’d taken me. Claimed me. My dragon. His cum was filling me. I hoped there was a lot of it. Like when he’d come on my face and into my mouth and I could barely swallow it all. Now it was filling my guts in spurts. I tried to feel it. Find it inside me.” Things I also really loved - the large age gap (20!), major size difference, partial shifted sex, first times/virgin, lactation kink and heat sex! Other things I enjoyed: -- Canada and Ontario being mentioned, and honestly it would be a dragon’s paradise, especially northern Ontario. -- Seeing Terrence! I’ve been enjoying his story so much! -- Leo and Davidson, I loved their extended appearances in this story. -- Dragons flying and Alpha defending his mate. -- The family and community aspect with the dragons and their mates. -- The Dragon mating lore and guide! I never tire of that book being whipped out and given to a dragon mate in need (and their reactions to the text and images) Overall, I loved loved Freefall! I swear I will never get tired of this world, and I’m so greedy for more. If you love Roe Horvat’s stories, omegaverse, dragon shifters, and fated mates, I can’t recommend this book (and the whole series if we’re being honest) enough! ...more |

“I’m never letting you go. I’m keeping you, Sweets. You’re mine. For always.” We have Evan, who is kicked out of his home after graduating high schoo “I’m never letting you go. I’m keeping you, Sweets. You’re mine. For always.” We have Evan, who is kicked out of his home after graduating high school. His mother is dead, and her most recent deadbeat husband, his stepfather, has kicked him out. He’s gotten into college and is ready to escape his small town but needs money. He sees an ad for an "adult modelling" job and decides to send in his information and photo. To his surprise, he gets a callback, but it’s not your standard modelling gig. Brandon has been in the porn industry for about a decade, an industry veteran. He’s made a name for himself, is financially secure and has enjoyed his job despite some of the negatives his career has brought into his real life. Bran is jaded regarding relationships and romance, but when Evan walks into his life, he wants this sweet innocent boy who makes him feel something for the first time in a long while. Evan and Bran have an instant connection. Evan is inexperienced and Bran tries to keep things professional and create distance, but he quickly realizes he’s fallen for the young boy. “If he was honest with himself, he knew that he had fallen for Evan the moment they met. He had been kidding himself thinking there was any way he could walk away from this trip unscathed.” Evan has had a rough life. He’s only 18 but has always been on constant edge, even at home. He hasn’t had many friends and an outcast, but with Bran, he finds someone who cares and makes him feel wanted and protected. In such a short period of time he had come to look up to Bran, to trust him with everything he had, and he chose to trust what he had been told earlier. I adored how Bran reached out to Evan and how he holds him and makes him feel so good. He never takes advantage of his naivety and inexperience and makes his first time pleasurable and so good for him. Despite the cameras, nothing about their connection and chemistry feels fake. Whether or not Evan knew it, he belonged to Bran. The mark he had left was just one of the ways Bran would show him. The sex scenes were VERY steamy and well-written; I loved them. The scenes between Bran and Evan were amazing, especially because of their chemistry and growing feelings towards one another! The second time when Bran comes in *chef kiss* I also loved the scenes between the other porn stars. I’m hoping some of them will have their own stories. My only issue was the ending. While it was a sweet HEA an epilogue would have made it perfect. The ending was too abrupt. Overall I really enjoyed this book! If you love age gap, first times, high steam, and sweet romance, I recommend it. I am not a huge fan of stories surrounding the porn industry I really loved Keeping Sweets. I also liked the fact that Bran and Evan did not sleep not with anyone else. Side Note: I was hit with some major nostalgia while reading this book. The writing style and story reminded me of the MM novels I used to read in the mid-2000s and early 2010s, and seeing the date it was published, no wonder. Thank you Dan for the recommendation ...more |

“I love you. I shouldn’t, but I do. I’m glad you took my arm. I’m glad I saved you, the way you saved me.” Prince Suraj is a warrior leading a war pa “I love you. I shouldn’t, but I do. I’m glad you took my arm. I’m glad I saved you, the way you saved me.” Prince Suraj is a warrior leading a war party to ambush and engage in a skirmish against insurgents who are working with rebel groups against his father, King Ravindra. Out on the battlefield, after taking down enemy fighters, he rewards himself by feasting on their flesh. Prince Suraj is a powerful demon who is able to refuel by consuming human flesh. While occupied, he is hit with arrows coated in a potent poison. He's weakened and captured. Madhava is on the front lines fighting with the rebels against the tyrant king and his armies. He captured the king’s son, and his leader decided to use him as a bargaining chip. However, Madhava has a dark secret. He’s excited by blood and violence. He’s disturbed by his dark desires, and with Prince Suraj able to see right through him, it becomes harder to deny and keep those feelings buried. Flesh and Blood was such an amazing and unique story. I absolutely loved how a sweet love story is woven into such a bloody and violent book. Suraj admires and falls for Madhava, the man who brought him down, who has such dark desires yet fights them. He becomes possessive of him and is ready to kill anyone who hurts his lover. “Madhava could order Suraj to his knees, and Suraj would bend easily. He would hand Madhava a knife, and wait patiently while Madhava cut his skin apart.” He does not see the reign of terror his father has over the lands, and why would he? He grew up in such a lavish world and heard nothing but praise of the king and all he had done for the lands. He is in a bubble. The prince can’t understand the plight of rebels, and to be honest, he does not care, but for Madhava, he will disobey and fight his fathers. Madhava has such inner turmoil - his desire for blood, for Suraj, for accepting the son who represents the very thing he is fighting as his lover. He is conflicted; he sees that he can use Suraj’s attachment against him. This leads to a bit of a back and forth; however, when he realizes how far Suraj is willing to go for him and how deep his devotion to him is, he gives in. “None of this should have been arousing. He was in the enemy’s lair, with a flesh-eating demon on top of him. When he squeezed his eyes shut, he could still see Suraj’s bloodied figure, canine teeth far longer than any normal human’s, body massive, eyes glowing—” I've already mentioned Suraj's devotion to Madhava, but I loved it so much. He was a like love-sick puppy who wanted to please his owner. He was so possessive and protective over Madhava! I was so happy when Madhava realized deep Suraj's love ran - even if he didn't understand or felt worthy of it - and accepted him. To think, Madhava had almost killed Suraj before they’d spoken a single word to each other. Yet here he was now, happy to share his flesh and blood with an unrepentant demon. In my opinion, this book is more relationship-focused, but there’s also an interesting political story. I loved the setting and the lore. It is inspired by South Asian culture, which I do not see a lot of fantasy books do in this genre. If you enjoy unique world building and lore, demon/human, action, himbo/puppy like MCs, a bit of enemies to lovers, possessive and obsessive MCs, "touch him and you die" trope, I recommended this book. While the story wasn’t dark dark , the title does not lie. There’s a lot of blood, death and graphic violence (including sexual violence). There’s cannibalism, knife and blood play! Did I already say cannibalism? Because there’s cannibalism! Please check trigger warnings if interested. Overall I really enjoyed Flesh & Blood! I would love to see more stories set in this world. There are a few side characters I am curious about and would love to know more about. ...more |

Maybe we’ve met in a different life.” Gilded Agony picks up two years after the events of Bloodbath; Dom has established himself as Mr Toro with his family by his side. He has commanded respect and control over his territory despite being in the Amazon jungle deep in foreign lands. However, despite living in what seems like their little slice of paradise, there’s discord and darkness. And when a shipment of guns fails to arrive, a snake enters their little heaven. Dom works to protect Seth from getting his hands bloody. He spends his days cooking, working out, playing with their daughter, and living a life of relaxation and luxury. He has everything he could ever want (within reason), but materials aren’t enough to replace some things. Dom is working to provide for and protect his family. Everything he does is for them. However, as Dom sinks into his role as Mr. Toro, Seth feels like he’s lost his husband. Physically they’re together but emotionally separated. I swear to god, if they just listened and really listened to one another, so much hurt could have been avoided. Dom lost himself in his role as protector and really hurt Seth. Some of the actions in his book were very hard to read. Seth began to fear him. Dom loves Seth so deeply, there is no doubt everything he does is for him and his family, but he forgets that Seth is also his equal. Having almost lost him put things in perspective. Seth, who’d become such a constant in Domenico’s life, his safe haven, his home, no longer felt that same way about Domenico, and this dichotomy had Dom twisting and turning on the bed. But once they get on the same page and reaffirm their love together, it’s beautiful. Seth is Seth, and he’s meant to stand by Dom’s side, not inside a cage. Seth looked back at him with a smile, and no matter how much Domenico loved the Seth who fed chickens and made the best breakfasts, witnessing him in a different role felt more enticing than the sweetest waffles. Tonight, no matter how bloody, was bringing him back to the man he’d fallen in love with. Sweet but violent. Capable, but needy. Vulnerable, but so, so strong. I wanted to strangle Mark for most of the book. He’s so disrespectful and honestly just causes issue after issue and never seems to learn from his mistakes. He’s 20 years old now, but goodness, from his actions, you would think he was still a young teenager. He was utterly infuriating, but I did feel bad for him in the end and look forward to his book. I also loved how their family has grown. Seeing Dom and Seth shower their daughter with so much love was wonderful to see. Miguel and Nero! I can’t wait for their story. Overall I really enjoyed Gilded Angoy and can't wait to read what is next for Seth and Dom. ...more |

“I’m glad you were an awful brat. I’m glad you’re still a brat. I’m glad you’re needy and you want me to take care of you forever because I’m not done with you. I’m never going to be done with you.” Collaring his Heart is the second book in the Leashing His Heart duet and picks up right where the last book left off. Emil and Johan have fallen into a routine. Their relationship is progressing, but on Emil’s end, he’s still using Johan. He’s a bondservant at the mercy of powerful people, something no one is letting him forget, especially Anna Tracht. However, he’s come to care for Johan a lot, and his plans have changed; it’s not about him anymore. He knows that if he left Johan behind, it would be a terrible mistake. With Anna coming at him from one side and now his ex, August, blackmailing on the other side, Emil feels trapped and finding a way out from the webs he got tangled with while ensuring Johan’s wellbeing is becoming quite the task. I said it already in my review for the first book, but I love the relationship dynamic between Emil and Johan. Johan does not have a dominant bone in his body; he’s so needy, so affection starved, and while Emil uses it to his advantage at times, he does his best not to hurt him and cares for Johan deeply. Johan trusts Emil almost unconditionally. Johan was clingy the entire way back. It shouldn’t have made Emil happy, but he loved Johan’s arm around him; he loved the way Johan allowed Emil to lead him. He loved the way Johan had almost instantly calmed down when Emil had found him. Emil is so good for Johan. He gets better mentally and physically. He does do a lot of things for the sake of Emil’s happiness, but it benefits as well. Obeying Emil, following a routine, and just letting go is what he needs to thrive. His dependency on Emil is unhealthy and twisted, but Johan needs him. Johan took the collar and fastened it around his neck. His muscles relaxed almost instantly. Everything got easier when he wore the collar. He didn’t have to worry about weird social interactions or people acting out of character or his damn brother being a fucking dick. And seeing Johan, a spoiled emotional brat trying his best to “keep” Emil with him because he knows the bond contract won’t last forever was cute. Johan would win over Emil for real. He’d show Emil just how much he was valued, how much Johan could care for him, and even in three years’ time when the contract was over, Emil would want to stay with him. The puppy play. I loved it and the way that Johan needed to go into that space, and while Emil is, for the most part, a responsible Dom/owner, there are moments where what they needed went outside of safe BDSM practices. I found it amusing how Johan only wanted to be referred to as puppy if any endearments were going to be used. The leash, because Johan had a regular leash now, to go with his collar. Johan stretched out his neck so Emil could hook the leash to the collar, and he got another kiss on the nose as reward. Overall, I think Collaring His Heart was the sweetest book so far in the Under His Heel/Leashing His Heart Universe. I absolutely loved it and while Johan and Emil’s path to their HEA is not easy, I loved how wonderful and perfect it was for them. If you enjoy dark romances with twisted characters, kink, and hard-earned HEA, I recommend Leashing His Heart. Please check TWs. “I told you once, long ago, that the more I like you, the more I want to hurt you. It hasn’t changed, Alex. I want to see your tears, your humiliation, your blood, your pain.” Despite Alex’s bondservant contract ending, things are going well for the two until Tracht’s sister gets caught up in corruption charges which causes Alex and Tracht to be dragged in. They’re grounded, separated and dealing with scrutiny from all sides regarding the nature of their relationship, especially as the bondservant system is brought to question by the public. I loved Under His Skin. We see Alex’s devotion to Tracht and Tracht’s love for Alex. Tracht has found the one person who is, above all else, he wants. He groomed Alex to be his perfect pet, but Tracht is also forced to confront and examine his feelings, especially as he realizes that with Alex being free, he is not bound to him the same way. However, Tracht never had to worry. Everybody had told Tracht he was doing a bad job with Alex, that Alex was too uncouth, too uncontrollable. Franziska thought Tracht had completely stomped on Alex’s free will. But Tracht thought he’d done just right. He’d gotten Alex addicted to him, molded him into a loyal dog who would obey any order, but he still had enough bite to scare others and be, quite frankly, more interesting than the sad lumps some bondservants became. Alex’s courtroom performance and his antics leading up to his testimony proved that he never had any intention of ever leaving, and his worry that Tracht might not want him after dissipated. “Oh. That. I suppose there’s no harm in telling you. I had no intention of making it easy for you to leave me, of course. If you intend to cut ties with me, you’ll have to get a real job and find honest work. I would probably laugh at all your attempts and failure to integrate into society.” With the original bond collar removed and Alex choosing to stay by accepting the new collar, it signified a new page in their relationship. “There won’t be any confusion going forward. You still belong to me. You chose this, after all.” Tracht put his hand on Alex’s bare throat. “If I asked you to get on your knees right here, in front of the courthouse, with all the cameras on you, I’d expect you to do it.” I also enjoyed seeing how the Under His Heel series could be read as a commentary and critique of capitalism. It highlights how the bondservant system is a product of it because it's sometimes the only way a person can pay off huge debts. These debts can be from life-saving medical procedures, but due to the way society is set up, if you are poor, you're forced to go into contracts of servitude to the wealthy elites. While Alex, Bahjat and Nadia (depending on who you ask) seem to have been on the luckier end with their bond owners, many more were not. Under such a hyper-capitalistic world in which corrupt officials get off easy, law enforcement and the justice system is so flawed, what choice do many have? I already mentioned this before, but despite what Alex goes through with Tracht, he also gets to thrive in a way that would not have been able to if he never became a bondservant, as twisted as it may seem. Not everyone is as lucky but in this case Alex was. There's an interesting cast of side characters. I adored Nadia, Bahjat, and, especially, in this book Anna, Tracht’s older sister (She grew on me). I’m so fascinated by the siblings’ relationship; seeing how alike they are was interesting so was getting a peak into their childhood. I am so curious about Johan, Tracht’s nephew. He’s a total mystery to me, and it’s cute how he wants to attach himself to his uncle despite all his efforts to push the young boy away. I can’t wait to dive into his book! Overall I enjoyed and loved Under His Skin and the HEA that Alex and Tracht got. Under His Heel was a wonderfully dark and kinky series with such amazing writing. While this story is not for everyone, please check TWs if interested. ---- Book 1 - Under His Heel - My Review Book 2 - A Kidnapping - My Review Book 3 - Under His Control - My Review Book 4 - Under His Skin - Under His... “If you stay loyal to me, I’ll continue to indulge you even while I hurt you.” Where to start? Under His Heel is a dark and depraved erotica. It has “If you stay loyal to me, I’ll continue to indulge you even while I hurt you.” Where to start? Under His Heel is a dark and depraved erotica. It has sadomasochism, master/slave, humiliation, grooming, brainwashing, stockholm syndrome, mind break, rape, body modification and more. There are many kinks in this book! We have Alex, who has swindled and conned many people with his twin brother Nick. They decide to go after the wrong people and are caught. With a debt he could never pay off, he enters into an agreement to become a bondservant, basically a debt-leasing service. The owner of his contract - Captain Tracht - will pay off the debt, but he will belong to them for an agreed-upon time frame. However, he never imagined he would become the bondservant to a twisted sick sadistic pervert. Tracht is a sadist with low empathy who enjoys humiliation and gets off sexually to brutality. He is who he is; he does not change at all throughout the story. Any affection he has for Alex comes at the cost of his suffering. So don’t expect redemption or a hidden sweet side; he’s truly a fucked up and terrifying individual. “The difficult part, Alex, is that the nature of my... perversities, as you called them once, is that the more I like you, the more I want to hurt you.” He brainwashes and conditions him slowly using both physical and psychological methods. He breaks Alex down and puts him back together over and over again. Crafting him into his perfect bondservant. No matter what happens to him with Tracht, you can't totally feel sorry for Alex. He has zero emotional intelligence, rude, crass, hotheaded, stupid to the point that you kind of pity him, gullible, and an all-round unlikable fella. Self-preservation? Who is she? Never heard of her. It’s odd, but I think Alex being groomed and going through all that insanity with Tracht also allowed him to flourish and grow? As messed up as it sounds, he becomes more self-assured and confident. Don’t me get wrong, he still has issues, but I liked seeing him be able to stand up to people such as his brother. Also, in a way Alex comes to accept his fate because, let’s be honest, I think he’s better off with him and he knows it too. I also like how needy Alex becomes and how he starts to crave Tracht's attention and touches as well. The sex was still mostly painful or humiliating for Alex, and he hated it in the moment, but Alex was kind of okay with his situation overall. What affection or care we do see from Tracht is very much still twisted. “The thing is…” Tracht continued, “I love watching him being humiliated. But I don’t enjoy somebody trying to force my hand in any way.” He let go of Alex and stepped away. “And I certainly refuse to allow a low-class scum of any sort touch my bondservant.” This story heavily focused on the relationship between Alex and Tracht. So I would say if you're looking for a deeper story outside of their relationship this book is not the one. However, I do like the world building we get as it allows us to have an idea of universe this story takes place in. There's a couple of really really dark and fucked up scenes in this book that I won't go into but let's say that people like to dish out their own uh punishments when they are wronged. Law? Police? Nope. Is there any romance? I would say not really at least in the traditional sense but I do think as their story continues their relationship will become more than just bondservant and master. Overall I enjoyed and loved Under His Heel! It hit all my darker cravings and I can't believe I waited so long to read it. I can’t wait to read the next books in the series. Please please check trigger warnings if you are interested, this book is not for everyone. ----- Book 1 - Under His Heel - Book 2 - A Kidnapping - My Review Book 3 - Under His Control - My Review Book 4 - Under His Skin - My Review Under His... “If I can’t have you, everything might as well fall apart. There is no me without you anymore” Bloodbath was another wonderful addition to the series “If I can’t have you, everything might as well fall apart. There is no me without you anymore” Bloodbath was another wonderful addition to the series. It made me stressed as they tried to keep their covers. The boys manage to infiltrate Toro’s villa and get close using the "gift" intended for Moreno. They must pretend to be cousins working together and nothing more. However, as they plan and play their roles, things start to go awry. I was worried for Seth as he went undercover because this man, despite his upbringing and family, is such a softie. When he breaks down and tells Dom his feelings and fears...that broke my heart. He is not Dom, and Dom realises it and the way he protects what made Seth Seth was just the sweetest. I loved how this story added another layer to their relationship. They’re as hot as always, but I also love how their relationship continues to evolve, with their love for one another becoming deeper and deeper. Their relationship isn’t perfect, but the devotion to and acceptance of one another is just so beautiful. “It was the look of awe in Seth’s eyes that made Domenico want to become a better man and the understanding of every side of Domenico’s personality that made Seth so irreplaceable. Even when they fought, Seth was able to forgive him, and even though Seth could be so sweet himself, he also lived with the knowledge of what Domenico was and accepted it.” Dana is growing on me, and Dom’s reaction to her news killed me. He's such a traditionalist/misogynist and the things he decides to not budge on makes me laugh. I worry for any daughter he would have. Speaking of laughs, we get plenty of humor in this story as well which I enjoyed. Also Mark annoyed the hell out of me. He stepped up when needed, but goodness, he also drove me nuts. Excited to see what’s going to happen between Nero and Miguel. The ending was just spectacular! And that epilogue! I can’t wait for the next book. ...more |

“He's my brother, my mate; I'll die before I let anyone hurt him. He's mine to protect and provide for, and I'll do both to the best of my ability for the rest of my life.” When I first found out that Odessa Hywell was writing an omegaverse incest story, I lost my mind. Taboo? Incest? Omegaverse? Yes Please. For nEver Mine is about an older Omega and younger Alpha, blood brothers who become mates. We have Shiloh, who goes on a solo mission to rescue his older omega brother, who was sent to another pack. That pack is led by a power-hungry, abusive alpha leader who mistreats Riley. They are able to escape, but because of the pack bonds that formed between Riley and that Alpha, they can be tracked. An Alpha biting an omega can sever it, but that bite will also create a mate bond. They have no other choice, and Shiloh is not about to let his beloved brother be captured or have another Alpha do it. Shiloh and Riley try to resist the consequences that follow the mating bite but fail. Shiloh and Riley are meant to be! They're just so adorable together and there's something about older omegas and younger alpha pairings that I just love. One thing I really enjoy about Odessa's books is how sweet the relationship between the characters is. Like this is taboo, it's incest, but goodness, the way Shiloh is protective of Riley and how he respects him and cares for him made my heart melt. The constant touching, nuzzling, and need for them to be just near each other made me happy. I loved the sex, it's hot, it's really hot, and there is A LOT of it in this book (they're newly mated after all), but those moments of them being needy and borderline codependent got to me too. While their relationship is of a taboo nature, there're not many issues from their parents or pack members. They're easily accepted and I adored how the pack stood behind Riley and Shiloh. The conflict and issues come from that abusive and violent Alpha leader (which is resolved rather quickly). We get shifted sex too! Also Riley and Shiloh relationship dynamic is interesting, and while it doesn't entirely fall into the traditional omega-alpha dynamic, I loved that Riley submits and defers to his Alpha when needed. “This is our life now. You’re my mate—my alpha. I’m your mate—your omega. And maybe it could be worse. Our bond has always been strong.” Overall I loved For nEver Mine. It ticked off many boxes for me, and I can't wait for the next book! I need Keenan and Ellis's book. I also need to know more about Jaiden and Locke! Side note: I actually thought there would be mpreg...don't ask why I did but there's no mpreg. ...more |

“Aren’t you scared of me?”......“Not really, no. You’re on my side, so I like that you’re a scary motherfucker. Makes me feel safe.” When the son of “Aren’t you scared of me?”......“Not really, no. You’re on my side, so I like that you’re a scary motherfucker. Makes me feel safe.” When the son of the Coffin Nails President is found at a strip club, Tooth becomes his caretaker. Tooth is the VP and the interrogator of the club. He's huge, deadly, and stoic but stands up for Luci. Luci (Lucifer) is the illegitimate child of the President. He has had no relationship with his father, has been on his own, and survived as a sex worker since his mother's suicide. He's now back with his father, who wants to act like a parent while dealing with his growing feelings for Tooth. I think this was the sweetest K.A. Merikan book I've read to date. Tooth and Luci's relationship was very tender (with a good dose of discipline). I really loved them as a pair. They are total opposites but made for one another. I loved the size difference, age gap, chemistry, and how Tooth was so dominant and firm with Luci. The way Tooth cared for Luci was just adorable. He really saw him, understood his needs, and stood up for him countless times. He truly became his protector. I also loved how Luci felt like he could be vulnerable with Tooth and slowly opened up to him. This book was a slow burn and I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop and grow. You could really feel their connection. "He didn’t judge Luci though. He let him cry his eyes out, held him close until Luci fell asleep, too exhausted and on the verge of a headache. No one would hurt him if it was Tooth guarding" I also loved the way MC came together. Seeing Luci be accepted by his father, brother, and sister was sweet. There was a death that shocked me in the story, I did not expect that to happen at all. Also, I HATED Dolly so much. The ending was so just perfect. Overall I really enjoyed The Devil's Ride. The vibe felt different from the first book. I liked how while it was still gritty with dark elements/themes there was such a sweet romance woven in. Can't wait to read the next book! “It will always be like that from now on. You are only mine. No one will take you away from me. Even you can’t take yourself away from me” The way th “It will always be like that from now on. You are only mine. No one will take you away from me. Even you can’t take yourself away from me” The way this book had me frustrated and stressed was no joke. Yet, at the same time it made feel all warm inside. Chokehold picks up right where Book 4 ends. Dom, Seth, and Mark have crossed over the border to Mexico, but they’re still far from being in the clear and reaching their goal. These guys can’t seem to get a break as more injuries throw their plans for a loop. Now they need to rest, heal, and try to survive after losing all their money. I loved this book so much. I felt that their relationship was tested to a degree that I have yet to see. The past was hanging over them as a dark cloud and kept rearing its head, especially regarding Seth and Dom’s first encounter. Seth carries deep scars and trauma yet loves Dom so much. Dom as well needed to face his actions, and seeing them bring everything out into the open was great...not good for my heart since I honestly was worried for a good chunk of the book but needed as their relationship became stronger than ever. The ending was just wonderful! “And now, he was once again allowed to touch it without the fear of being pushed away. It had required some real talk and was at times painful, but Domenico was glad that both of them had finally been honest about the past.” They hurt one another with their actions and words....knowing exactly what to say and do in order to maximize the damage. Poor Mark is caught between them at times. It was a gritty and emotionally heavy story but with KA’s wonderful dark humour and some very Seth moments sprinkled in. “Only Seth could have concluded a meeting like this one required him to bring cake, but Domenico didn’t want to stifle any of that sweetness that came so naturally to him.” The action! I thought my heart was going to stop a few times. I also liked seeing some old and new characters, especially Miguel. Overall I absolutely loved Chokehold and can’t wait to start Bloodbath (but I’m not going to lie... I’m so nervous about what is to come next) ...more |

To start, this story is connected to Conflicted, and it is recommended that you read it first for the best reading experience as some incidents are referenced, but that being said I think you can still enjoy Forbidden without having first read Conflicted. We have Enrico, the son of a powerful drug lord. He is the heir and, as such, has had a target on his back. He's suffered a traumatic injury on top of his chronic illness and is trying to live while not feeling like the world is swallowing him up. He has been attracted to his father's second-hand man Fernando who is also his godfather. Fernando knows that anything and everything will be used against you in their world. He knows that his dear friend's son is in love with him, but giving in to him not only means betrayal but homosexuality also is not accepted in their world. He's been protective of Enrico, but now those feelings of have slowly morphed into something else, something he has not felt for anyone ever since his wife died. “Will saying what you think I should hear allow me to kiss you whenever I want? Crawl into your bed at night and wake up next to you every morning? Will you always be able to hold me when I feel like my world is going to shit without worrying who might be watching?” I really liked Forbidden. I liked that you could feel the tension and angst between Enrico and Fernando. While Enrico wants to be with his godfather no matter what Fernando knows that their relationship can't be. I liked the longing and that their relationship took time. While the attraction was there it didn't feel like insta lust to me. "It's unethical and goes against everything I stand for. I was raised to be against what I have with you. To marry a woman and have children. Not wanting to spend my life with a man who's not only less than half my age but also someone I once considered to be a son.” I also really enjoyed the D/s dynamic in their relationship and the knife play! It's still lighter on BDSM but I always love a good age-gap relationship, especially if it's on the more taboo side. The chemistry between the characters is excellent, and the sex scenes are really steamy. I also enjoyed the touching, holding, cuddling, and just how Fernando cared for Enrico. Their relationship is so tender and sweet. It's just those little things Fernando did for Enrico that just made me into goo. “There isn't any going back now, pequeño. My love for you has grown way too much for that, changing into something I never thought I deserved to have again. But you deserve it all and because of that I will do anything I can to give it to you.” Overall I really enjoyed Forbidden and loved Fernando and Enrico's relationship. This story ticked a lot of boxes for me and had good time reading it. Please do check TWs as this story has some dark elements, blood, and violence. ...more |

Bay had staked his claim. I was an outlaw biker's property now. And I was okay with it" Bay is the first book in the Smokey Vale Alliance series, a spin-off of the Grimm Tales of Smoky Vale. While I was able to read this as a standalone, I would strongly encourage readers to read the Grimm Tales of Smoky Vale, especially Fable's Foes and Crowe's Creed first. There are a lot of characters who show up who are from the other series and I think it would make the whole reading experience even better. That being said, I was still able to fully enjoy it without reading the other series first. We have Gerald, who was once an upstanding member of his city, the Mayor, but due to his wife, he lost everything. His job, his campaign, his friends, everything. He's now trying to move on and wants to reconnect with his son, who is dating two motorcycle club members from the very club he vowed to take down as Mayor. When Bay lays his eyes on a handsome older man who's dressed like he's attending church rather than a birthday party at their headquarters, he knows he has to have him. With a bet set up, he gets the kiss but when Gerald shows him that there's something more beneath his proper, neat and tidy appearance Bay becomes relentless in his pursuit. Goodness, I loved loved loved Bay. I devoured this book in just a few hours. Literally everything about this story was check after check for me. The huge age gap - 26 and 48? Check. The younger one being aggressive and dominant? Check. First time bi-awakening? Check. Possessiveness? Check. Total opposites in every way imaginable? Check. Touch him and you'll die? Check. This book was filthy, steamy and hot. I need a cool glass of water levels of hot. Gerald and Bay's connection was so intense and once Gerald gave in oh goodness. That morning after scene after their first time will be living in my head rent free. I loved how we got to see this wild and sexy side of Gerald that only Bay could bring out. The dirty talk and the way Bay made just Gerald feel good, desired, and loved...it was perfect. “I’m going to make you my slut. I’ll take you wherever I want you, whenever I want you, and you won’t ever say no. You know why?” Gerald has totally been abandoned by everyone in his former life and as Mayor, people often got close to him due to personal interests but now not only does he have a true family who will do anything and everything for him and stick by him no matter he can also just let go. I love the found family and brotherhood aspect of the club and it was lovely to see Gerald experience it. "But at the heart of their gang, family seemed important. Not just blood family but found family. Family they'd protect with their blood, sweat, and tears." He can lean on Bay and let him take care of everything for once. He does not have to be the one who does everything anymore. I loved that aspect of their relationship. As much as Bay came off as horny, aggressive and domineering, he was also caring and so sweet on Gerald. That man needed someone like Bay in his life. "I've seen the gentle, caring side of you, Bay, and I fell in love with that you. The man I saw last night? I've been dreading the day I'd meet him, not knowing what my reaction would be. But then I witnessed you punishing him because of what he did to me. How can I be mad that these hands are willing to fight for me?" The story is pretty gritty and gets violent and deals with the farming and trafficking of babies using women in prison. Please check TWs. Overall I loved Bay and to be honest no surprise as I adore Gianni's stories. I will definitely check out the related books in this universe. I've always wanted to read them but now that I got a taste I will be diving right in. If you love Gianni's stories, Grimm Tales of Smoky Vale series, MC stories, opposites attract, and age gap, I recommend it. ...more |

"Love. The idea lifted years of pain and bitterness from my shoulders. This breathtaking man was going to love me." My review is going to be long I'm "Love. The idea lifted years of pain and bitterness from my shoulders. This breathtaking man was going to love me." My review is going to be long I'm sorry but it's Roe Horvat and Levity was one of my most anticipated reads of 2023. We first met Leo in Unexpected and he was such an unlikable character. He had issues a mile long alongside just being an all round unpleasant person. So I can't even tell you how surprised I was when I learned he would be the omega that would finally capture the cold, jaded, bitter heart of Davidson and melt it. And you know what? Roe knew what he was doing because he was the perfect mate for a man like Davidson. Leo is on the run from a narcissistic psycho alpha who abused, drugged and tormented him. He flees, leaving behind everything in Dalton to Ardaine in order to escape him. He knows that he'll never be free once that man captures him. However, after months of isolation, hiding and just not feeling like himself anymore, he decides to go to a high-class sex party where he encounters Davidson. Davidson has been a bachelor for far too long and at 46, he is way passed the age for a dragon to have not met their mate. He is bitter, lonely, bad-tempered and losing hope. Davidson does not like skinny, bratty, mouthy omegas, especially ones who know how beautiful they are, yet he's drawn to Leo and realizes he's finally met his mate. I loved loved Levity. I felt like Levity pushed new boundaries that I have yet to see in Roe’s past work. And goodness, did I enjoy it so so much. There’s so much hurt/comfort in this story as Leo has to unlearn self hate and issues he carries. He has desires and needs that other men have taken advantage of but with Davidson, he files. "He was indeed perfect for me, wasn’t he? A snarky brat, vying to be punished—and I’d lure that side out to play soon enough—but he was also softhearted and timid on the inside, eager to please. I’d held back for the past two days, but Leo needed this. The bond was growing stronger, and I knew how to make my mate soar." My heart broke for Leo over and over again as I learned more about his past, state of mind, and how he viewed himself. Leo is like a marshmallow, but life has caused him to have thorns and barbed wires to protect himself. As a defensive mechanism, he has learned to become reckless, self destructive and pushes away everyone. However, Davidson works to love, build, and protect his mate’s fragile heart. Davidson is honestly one of my favourite Alphas in all of the omegaverse stories I have read. “In order to make you happy, I’ll do what I know you need. I’ll love you even more. I’ll prove to you that you are just as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside. I’ll get you pregnant, take care of you, hold you when you give birth, and we’ll raise him together.” Erotic romance at its finest. There is a lot of sex in this book. Roe can honestly write some of the best ever and I can read each and every scene and never get tired. There is no such thing as too much (for me). It never felt repetitive or unnecessary. I also felt each scene had a purpose, especially the BDSM and kink scenes between Leo and Davidson. Leo needs to submit and to please, and Davidson provides him with the space to fully give his body and mind over. When Leo starts to trust Davidson, he submits so beautifully, knowing his body, heart and mind are safe and treasured by his mate, his master. I loved the slave/master role play and the D/s dynamic between these two. The BDSM scenes and role-playing were written so well, and it was so them. "He’d punish me and keep me in line, fuck me and hurt me" However, Davidson does not take the trust given to him lightly. Just as Leo worships, kneels, and gives himself to his master, Davidson gives himself wholly back to his omega. I've said it already, but I loved their dynamic and relationship so much! The power exchange, possessiveness, degradation kink, the humiliation, the dirty talk, the role-playing…I enjoyed it all. “I love you,” I managed. “Yes, you do. You’ll love me forever.” One thing I missed from the last book was the pregnancy. We get it in this book!! Honestly, Levity provided me with everything I have come to love about omegaverse. The lactation kink, the lover's milk….goodness and pregnancy and birth!!! Thank you so so much Roe. 100/10 I also enjoyed seeing Ernest, Lawrence, Manny and the whole Bracknell clan again! This is a long book. I think it's the longest of Roe’s books I have read and I enjoyed each and every page, paragraph, sentence and word. I love long books and personally, I would have read another 200 pages. It did not feel tedious rather the pages flowed. I felt sad that the story would have to end. I usually reads books in one sitting, but sometimes when I love a so much book and do not want it to end I try to pace myself. I’ve become greedy and so spoiled by how long Levity was that I'm hoping Roe's future books will be as long. Finally, this book gave me everything I wanted and more. This story may not be for everyone, especially if you are not into lots (and lengthy) sex scenes, BDSM or mpreg in your stories, but it was perfect for me and I'll be eagerly awaiting the next book in this series! ...more |

“I promise to never waste another minute of our lives on what-ifs. I’m going to love you for however long I’m privileged to do so, and you’ll let me because I don’t plan on giving you a choice in the matter.” Bad Wrong Things is one of those books that remind me why I love this genre so much and why it has had a grip on me like no other. It kept me up until sunrise as I could not make myself put it down, not even for sleep. That first chapter grabbed me. What a way to start. We have the story of Raven, who is taken in by a police officer, Clint, as a young boy. He moves in with him and his son, but as he grows older, his love for Clint transforms into something forbidden. One summer in which it's just them alone, their relationship changes forever. “I need to touch your bones,” he said, palming my sternum, getting comfy. “I can’t get deep enough inside you, or close enough to you. I want nothing in our way. Not even skin.” He yawned, his voice sleep heavy. “I sound crazy.” Their love for one another was not only forbidden, but it caused so much hurt. It was toxic, possessive and all-consuming. It is like wildfire leaving its destructions and scars behind, at times literally. It's one that many will not accept and people will judge them for. However, their love was oh so real.
The amount of pain, blood, and violence that erupts between Clint and Raven was insane. This is an intense read, and I was tempted to pause and take a moment at times. Some scenes are hard to read, but you are compelled to keep going. What I think makes Bad Wrong Things unique is the way their toxic love becomes beautiful. Clint and Raven do not have an easy path to their happy ever after. There is growth and change, and while their love evolves, that foundation is still there. It evolved for the better but it is still, very much, them. So when you finally get to see their hard-earned HEA, you feel it right in your heart. I was so so moved. The sex. The sexual chemistry between Clint and Raven was off the chart. Sex between them is all-consuming, dirty, violent, painful, loving, and bloody. It felt so raw and so animalistic at times. God, how I enjoyed reading it. C.P. Harris has a gift.
Finally, the writing. C.P. Harris has such amazing writing. Their narrative choices and prose are just...no words. They have a gift. I will be praising them a lot in future books regarding that aspect. Overall, there are a few books that I think about once in a while. Those that become literally part of your soul, and you'll be sitting in a random cafe, and a scene or moment comes into your mind, Bad Wrong Things has joined that exclusive list for me. I will be thinking about these two and their story for a long time to come. If you love forbidden, all-consuming, possessive, toxic love that is so beautiful, emotional and well done, I can't recommend this book enough. However, it is an intense read and not for everyone. I hate him. I need him. His need sears my heart. He doesn’t know how else to protect me from them. I love him. After reading Prom King in Anti-Valent I hate him. I need him. His need sears my heart. He doesn’t know how else to protect me from them. I love him. After reading Prom King in Anti-Valentine: An MM Romance Anthology I became really interested in Roman and Jonah's story in Bully King. We have the story of Jonah, the new boy who is the son of a preacher who moves from Washington State to the South. He is in the closet and, as the new kid in town, has attracted the attention of the football team, particularly Roman King. Despite his reputation in town, Roman King comes from a broken home. Not only is he also in the deep in the closet, but he has to deal with his violent father on a daily base while not only trying to protect himself but also his mother. They are drawn to one another, and while their relationship is unhealthy and dangerous, if they are found out, they become like air to one another in a town that is ready to crush them. This story honestly took me for an emotional ride. While the story itself is not a dark romance, it deals with themes of bullying, homophobia, gay bashing, and the use of religion to spew hateful rhetoric. The first half of the book is difficult to read and honestly makes you feel uncomfortable. Roman's actions towards Jonah and later his own friend are pretty despicable. Tears fall down my face as he uses me, his hand in my hair giving him more control. Refusing to look away from him, I won’t let him hide from this. He has to face what he’s doing to me. If I’m his victim, he will face the monstrosity of his actions. The relationship between Roman and Johan is quite disturbing and unhealthy. Roman has to keep up appearances, and with the way he grew up, violence follows softness despite how much he comes to love Jonah. He violates, hurts, and treats Jonah so horribly. Yes, it is out of fear, he is a coward, but it's tough reading those moments. After the brutality comes affection. It’s a deadly combination. How was I supposed to keep him at arm’s length when he’s like this? There is no way I should be rooting for these two, but Andi Jaxon does a fantastic job at drawing you in emotionally and making you invested in their relationship. However, those tender moments when they were together picking up the pieces....my heart. I loved how Roman was possessive and was ready to defend and fight for Jonah (after realizing he couldn't be a coward anymore). Like Roman was problematic, do not get me wrong. He was complicit and an active participant in terrorizing and beating even his own best friend for being gay. The internalized homophobia was wild in him. However, I like that there is character growth and learning to stand for what is right in the end. “I can’t see what the future holds, but I know I need you in mine. The idea of you not being with me makes me want to burn everything to the ground. I am nothing without you. All this shit we’re dealing with makes us stronger. You’re mine, and this shithole town won’t be able to stand between us. I won’t let them.” Overall, Bully King was an emotional story. I really enjoyed it and am glad that I finally read it. I really love Andi Jaxon's writing, and I can officially say I am a fan! Please do check TWs if you plan on reading this book. ...more |

"You're mine now. Just like a dog belongs to its master, you belong to me." I stayed up until 4 am reading this book. I could not put it down. Be Min "You're mine now. Just like a dog belongs to its master, you belong to me." I stayed up until 4 am reading this book. I could not put it down. Be Mine, Twisted Valentine was messed up and twisted as it was sweet, just like Gianni Holmes promised. We have Duncan, who kidnaps Teddy, the son of the police chief, after killing his little brother. He wants to make him pay using his son. He keeps him captive, torturing, beating, and humiliating him for almost a year. However, during those long months, something happened that changed both men. Now 15 years later, Duncan is out on parole and is ready to pick things up and claim Teddy once more. Teddy has tried to move on with his life after sending Duncan away. In the past 15 years, he's gotten married, has a child on the way, became a lawyer, and started healing. He has tried to forget his kidnapper and tormenter, but some scars do not heal. When the man who broke him down both physically and mentally comes calling, he can not resist. I do not want to say much about the plot because I do not want to give away anything, and honestly, it is best to go in blind. (Only if you have no triggers, your mental health is a priority), so I will focus on their relationship. I loved Duncan and Teddy. Nothing about them is healthy or socially acceptable. The obsession, the codependency, the jealousy. Duncan is a selfish man who does not care, has no remorse, and does not feel bad - his sole focus is Teddy and how to get him back - despite knowing he is jeopardizing his own freedom. "She's an obstacle to me. That's all. You were never hers, Teddy. You belonged to me first. These years with her were borrowed, now I'm taking back what's mine." This story is so messed up in terms of their relationship that I don't know where to start. It was over the top, insane, and wild (It seems like I will be describing the relationships in this series like this). "You beat me until I begged you to stop. You waterboarded me until I pissed myself. Cut me open with your knife, tied me up, monitored me like I was an animal in a zoo. You shaved my fucking head. Do you know how dehumanizing that was?" I also liked seeing how messed up and twisted Teddy was or became. He was conflicted about doing the right thing, trying to be normal, and creating a facade to avoid getting dragged into the madness. Did it work? Nope. Did he also hurt people? Yes. So is he an innocent party? I do not know. "Let's get something straight," he whispered. "When you're in my bed, nobody else matters. You don't have a wife. You only have me....Now say my name again." The sex was so hot, filthy, and rough…I loved it. Gianni knows how to write them, and this was no different. That kind of depraved dirty possessive sex is right up my alley, so I enjoyed every minute of it. Overall I enjoyed it, it was a crazy and twisted ride, and I honestly loved Duncan and Teddy. Be Mine, Twisted Valentine was my most anticipated book of the series as I love Gianni's writing, and it delivered for me. If you enjoy Stockholm syndrome, possessive characters, obsession, codependency and twisted love, this is it. Please do check the TWs. The author posted a note under a spoiler tag going over it in detail on GR. ...more |

I really enjoyed the first book and was excited to learn that Phoenix and the monster that he rescues (and also saved him) were getting their own story! Goodness, this story was so so good. It sorta picks up from where the last book ends, but it can be read as a standalone. The author brings readers up to speed with the events that are relevant from the first book. This was grumpy ex-soldier x Sunshine Monster. I can't get over how perfect and sweet this story is, particularly Phoenix and Bud's relationship, despite all the crazy stuff going on around them. Bud softened and broke down the walls around Phoenix's heart and helped him conquer his own fears. I loved how their relationship flourished and grew. The protective role that Phoenix took on and his need to ensure that Bud, who has suffered for so long, is not only cared for but respected/treated well was endearing. He takes note of the little things to make sure Bud is comfortable and happy. Yes, he's a hardened soldier who has seen and dealt with so many injustices, but with Bud, he can believe that there is good left in the world. The sex. Listen, I will never get enough of unique monster anatomies, and Bud's was pretty unique. L.Eveland is so creative with their innovations? as there were uh elements that I have never seen before. And the HEAT!! The moments of intimacy were soo sweet and spicy. I also loved how caring and attentive Phoenix was towards Bud! Checking to make sure he was okay, had his consent, and the aftercare. I don't want to get into the specifics of the plot as it is spoiler-y but I'm excited for the next books and seriously can't wait for Axel and Chappie's stories! Overall, if you love monster x human romances, grumpy x sunshine, POC MC, action, and scorching hot unique monster sex, this is it! ...more |
