this book has been my favorite so far, and I look forward to an equally impressive conclusion (i hope)....more

going in to this, I expected a run-of-the-mill short fantasy romance story with ok writing and not much originality. this book was the complete opposite... and over 500 pages to boot. an absolutely wonderful story. maybe a few kinks here and there which I believe has more to do with it being a newer author with less resources, than anything else.
just my two cents but I think the book and whole series could use a re-branding to help boost popularity. i genuinely believe a lot of people would like this book if they gave it a chance. it’s a really nice blend of romance and fantasy. or maybe all it takes is just some more reviews on goodreads...so here I am!!
SPEECHLESS. i don’t really know what to say to convey the emotional turmoil you will go through while reading this book.

the SECRETS. the SLOW BURN. the ANGST. the CHEMISTRY. all my favorite tropes present and accounted for. so many amazing, well-developed characters. vivid writing. i don’t want to say too much cause *spoilers* but Danielle pretty please if you are by chance reading this can you give at least one of these couplets a well-deserved hea?
this book was the best so far in the series, which makes sense because she has combined the power of all four mc POVs that made up the first two books. it’s essentially two novels woven together. where some readers might find the switching between story lines frustrating, i love when books are set up this way. like reading whiplash. i don’t know how long danielle plans to make this series but there is at least going to be one more book...i just wish i didn’t have to wait so long for the next one.
in conclusion, please excuse me while I take some time off of reading to emotionally recover from this book.
and a huge thank you to Macmillan-Tor/Forge, via netgalley, for this arc!...more
is there such a thing as TOO slow of a burn? because this book is definitely toeing that line. then again, maybe Danielle is a genius in making the chis there such a thing as TOO slow of a burn? because this book is definitely toeing that line. then again, maybe Danielle is a genius in making the characters actually put the needs of others, their country, and their duty above their own lust.. for once in a fantasy novel blue moon. and while the ending leaves me frustrated and wanting more, the potential for the next book (or books, who knows) is sky-high. everything i loved about dark shores still stands for dark skies. the character development, the points of view, the originality.. all just tremendous. while dark skies is longer and maybe a little more drawn out, it is adventure-fantasy at its best. just read the series...and hopefully, you will see for yourself.

the bridge kingdom is a lovely, original story that is well worth the read. it reads like a fantasy novel despite the lack of any true fantasy elements. an easy add to the favorites shelf....more

actual rating would be 4.5 just because some of the plot pivots were a little weak and character development was meh, but other than that *chef's kiss*...more
