Jeaniene Frost
“You do that, and I take back every nasty thing I've ever said about you."

He grinned, his mood changing from serious to wicked in an instant. "Why? I'm all those things and more."

I shook my head. Ian was more proud of his depravity than anyone I'd met, but if he helped me pull Bones out from under four bespelled vampires and one demonically-enchanced vamp, I'd shower him with prostitutes and porn while swearing he was an angel.”

“I'd felt obligated to get Ian a Christmas present. A chunk of coal sat in a brightly wrapped box under the tree, his name written in big bold letters on the front of it.

Ian might be family, but he still had been a very naughty boy this year.”
Jeaniene Frost, The Bite Before Christmas

Jeaniene Frost
“Oh, yes, that feels so good," I moaned, and instead of punching Ian, pulled him closer.

Breath tickled my neck as he laughed. "I know. I'm truly gifted.”
Jeaniene Frost, The Bite Before Christmas

Jeaniene Frost
“Wretched unfair, it is,” he remarked. “Of the three of us, I’m the one who’s always collected the rare and unusual, yet you two managed to snag the world’s most unusual women. First you, Crispin, with the only living half-breed, who then turned into an even more unusual vampire. And now you, Charles, have bagged a shape-shifter. Thought you were joking when you said Denise was the kitty. I’m simply green with jealousy”

“Gregori leaned forward. "Can you believe it? We're all a bunch of mutants! Just like the Ninja Turtles."
Angus blinked. "We - we're like... turtles?"
Gregori burst out lauging.
Ian shook his head, grinning.
Connor snorted. "Nay. We have vampire DNA. No turtles.”

“Christ, Reaper, with your bald head and all that soot, you look like a mannequin someone attacked with a blowtorch”

“You'll have to give me a minute here. Gravity's a real bitch this morning.

Ian to Kori”
Rachel Vincent, Shadow Bound

Jeaniene Frost
“Damn, Ian was already there. I braced myself as he came out from behind the RV. He sniffed, his nose wrinkling. Then he looked over me and my blonde captive, grinning.
"Managed to squeeze in a golden shower along the way? How lecherous, I'm impressed."
"Save it" I said crisply.”
Jeaniene Frost, Up from the Grave

Richelle E. Goodrich
“Love grows and wanes, but honor, duty, and commitment, those things are constant and stable. They define who you are.”

“Ian slid the pot of honey toward his plate. "We should go back upstairs," he said to Beth.

"What?" Beth looked up from a list she was writing. "Why?"

Ian rose and pulled back Beth's chair without answering. Ian had difficulty lying, so when he knew he shouldn't say what was on his mind, he'd learned to keep his mouth firmly closed.

Beth knew him well, though. Without arguing, she let him take her arm and steer her from the table. Before he walked away, Ian reached back and snatched the honey pot from the table, balancing the pot in his hand as he led Beth from the room.”

“Ian's sense of right and wrong overwhelms me.
Not a single other person .... I know
possesses such an unshakable sense of morality.
Its more than unbelievable. It's frightening.
To offer without strings something all men crave,
and be rejected by him is incomprehensible.
Think I'll have to kick Kaeleigh's ass.
Does she have any idea what it means .... to be
so treasured? He has built a pedestal for her so tall
that she is afraid to be lifted atop it, because to fall
would mean certain death. But oh, she would rise
far, far beyond fear.”
Ellen Hopkins, Identical

Jennifer Ashley
“In the past, Cameron, worrying about Ian, would go make sure that he wasn’t sitting alone in a huddle, or staring for hours at a Ming bowl, or pouring over some endless mathematical exercise. These days, Cameron knew that Ian used the excuse of not liking crowds to spend more time alone with his wife – in bed.”

Jeaniene Frost
“Times like this I feel old," Ian muttered, to a grunt of agreement from the demon. "He means virgin's blood.”

“Rachel's voice is fierce. The Commander will send out scouts. We should-"
"Oh, he sent out scouts," Willow says. "Five of them. And they were doing a good job of searching the city. Unfortunately for them, all they managed to find was me."
"You killed them?" Ian asks.
"No. I invited them over for dinner." She smacks his shoulder. "the sun is almost down. By the time the Commander realizes his scouts aren't coming back, it will be too dark to send more. He can't risk us seeing torchlight, and they can't search these ruins without light."
"You scare me a little," Ian says, but his voice is full of admiration.
Adam steps closer to Willow. "She's good at everything she does."
Quinn clears his throat." Maybe we should get back to the problem?"
"We can't travel at night," I say. "We need light as well. But we can leave at dawn, and-"
"They'll leave at dawn, too," Adam says. "And if they're that close already, there's no way we can outrun them. Not with children and elderly and the wagons."
"Which is why we're going to create a barrier between us," I say. "Something they can't cross."
Rachel meets my eyes, and her smile is cold and bright. "Fire."
I match her smile with one of my own. "Fire. And when the army finally gets past the blaze, we won't be where they expect, because we're leaving the main road behind."
"What are we waiting for?" Willow asks. "Let's go burn something down.”

Ian MacGregger
“And, oh yes, I did see Nessie! But that was much later on after a late evening that involved several pints and more than my share of Scapa Flow whisky. Nice girl. Pretty face. Longish neck. Not much in the leg department.”
Ian MacGregger, The Toast of Broadway: An Omega-AlphaThriller

Jennifer Ashley
“Losing Sarah and my boy was the hardest thing I've ever lived through. But even then, you see, I knew that Eleanor was with me. If not here, then at least in the world, where I could find her. I could think of her living in that old house with her father, I could write to her if I chose. She was the anchor in my world, no matter how far I was from her. But if I lose her... Ian, I lose myself. I can't live. Not without Eleanor.”

“Hart was surprised how much Ian's silent presence comforted him. His volatile little brother, who'd needed so much help in the past, was now a rock in the roilling stream of Hart's world.
I can always find you, Ian had told him once. He'd meant that he'd know when Hart needed him, would be there, no matter what.”
Jennifer Ashley, A Mackenzie Family Christmas: The Perfect Gift

Richelle E. Goodrich
“He reached out for her hand and she grabbed onto his.

“Eena, when you’re ready to talk about it, I’ll be here. That’s what best friends are for.”

She let the tears fall. He’d never know they were for him. He’d think they were because of Derian. They held hands silently throughout the night, Ian unaware that this was by far her most tortured nightmare ever. Paradise so close, and yet completely unattainable.”
Richelle E. Goodrich, Eena, The Return of a Queen

Jennifer Ashley
“Sorry, Ian," Cameron said. He found himself saying that to Ian quite a bit. "I didn't understand."

Ian gave him a faint nod but didn't answer. His look told Cameron that he knew his older brother was an idiot, but he'd learned to put up with it.”

“I don't need the bowls to give me peace anymore," Ian said. "I have you. And Jamie, and Belle. If all the Ming bowls in the world were smashed, I'd still have you." [...]
"You broke the bowl, and it is gone. But you are here, and whole. Nothing else matters.”
Jennifer Ashley, A Mackenzie Family Christmas: The Perfect Gift

Richelle E. Goodrich
“He made a commitment, Eena.”

“And you believe this commitment,” she spoke the word detestably, “is more important than true love?”

“Yes.”

“No,” she stubbornly disagreed.

“Yes,” Ian insisted as he put his finger to her lips, preventing her from arguing any further. “Love grows and wanes, Eena, but honor, duty, and commitment, those things are constant and stable. They define who you are.”

“They define who you are?” she repeated. “You mean miserable?”

“Content,” he retorted.

“Lonely,” she argued.

“Faithful,” he insisted, his eyes widening to emphasize the importance of the word.

“Empty, regretful, and…”

“Hopeful,” Ian whispered in her ear.

This word caught her off guard. At present, hope was probably all any of them could cling to.”

“Eena!”

Recognizing Ian’s voice, Eena turned to find him approaching her from behind. He was entirely clad in body armor and gauntlets, cradling an open-faced helmet in one arm. Painted on his chest plate was a flaming, gold sword. From his side hung a leather sheath, a golden hilt peeking from the top.

“I’m glad you’re back. You are going to stay and watch us play, aren’t you?” He looked hopeful she’d say yes.

Eena smiled brightly. “I didn’t know you were talented enough to be on a dueling team. Nice sword,” she teased.

Ian blushed a degree. “Thanks. They call us the Savage Warriors!” He rasped their team name in a semi-ferocious voice. “Jerin’s team captain.”

She laughed at the showy designation. “And who’s your challenger today?”

“The Dragon Slayers - Derian’s team.”

Eena’s face fell. “Derian is playing?” She groaned internally, knowing she should’ve guessed as much. This was starting to look like another setup.”

Richelle E. Goodrich
“Thanks, Ian, but sometimes there’s just nothing you can do.” Her feet moved forward again towards the center of Lacsar Forest.

“That’s not true, Eena. I can always listen.”
Richelle E. Goodrich, Eena, The Curse of Wanyaka Cave

Richelle E. Goodrich
“Ian was a good man—honest, trustworthy, loyal, and of honorable character. His desire to keep his promise to Angelle and to be a respectable servant of Harrowbeth would always take president over any personal feelings, no matter how intense or gratifying they might be. He would never betray Harrowbeth. He would never cheat Derian or Angelle. He would never deceive his queen, even if in so doing he would find a love and happiness they both longed to share. His commitment to what he saw as right meant more.”
Richelle E. Goodrich, Eena, The Curse of Wanyaka Cave

“Hey, guard!” Ian hollered out loud. “Do you think we could get a bathroom break?”

The guard seemed to snicker as he pointed to the grass outside the cell. Eena smirked at how dead-on her thoughts had been after all.

“Come on,” Ian complained. “She can’t do that, she’s a girl.”

The soldier smiled wryly, a shrug communicating his indifference.

Eena laughed in her mind.

(I don’t know what you think’s so funny. You’re the one who’s gotta pee.)

Oddly enough, that fact just made her laugh even more.”
Richelle E. Goodrich, Eena, The Curse of Wanyaka Cave

Richelle E. Goodrich
“That was the coolest thing ever.” Eena smiled at the fact that she’d been lucky enough to touch the wings of a real crioness.

“That was highly unusual. I can’t believe they came right up to us—to you.”

“They were hungry, I’m sure.”

“Still, crioness are cautious. They always avoid people. To let you touch him like it did…..”

She grinned with pure satisfaction. “Wild huh? Derian’s not going to believe me when I tell him.” Eena cocked her head when Ian laughed out loud. “What?” she asked, a note of offense in her voice.

“Of course Derian will believe you. When does anything ever happen to you that isn’t unreal?”

Knowing he was right, she shoved him off the log anyway.”

“That bowl was special because of the blue. It exactly matched your eyes.”

“Don't look at me like that, Augusta." He stood to pull his shirt over his head. "I don't deserve it. No mortal could deserve such an expression.”
