Hard choices, but I had to vote for Iain Banks. Jay Lake I consider more of a fantasist than science fiction. -loretta

For the first time in a long time I've not voted in a poll! I honestly don't feel inspired by any of the choices. If the winner is available from my usual sources I may read it though...
Really, Sisi? I haven't read "Dying Inside" yet, but I've been told that it's an amazing book. "Triplanetary" is a classic of the genre and something I've always wanted to read. And I'd definitely re-read "Consider Phlebas", even though I consider it the weakest novel in the Culture series. "Dying Inside" gets my vote, though!
I guess its that none of these are 'my authors'. I'd be trying someone new to a certain extent, and not someone who is on my 'try someone new' list right now. Perhaps my TBR bookshelf (yeah, its nearly a damned room by now) is getting out of control and limiting my ability to accept new input! (help)
