I finished this last night, and have been struggling with my rating. This one sadly wasn't the five star read I had anticipated. Not that the book was bad by any means, it just didn't engage me the way I was expecting, and at times, I had a hard time trudging through. I know!?! The pacing seemed uneven, as there were chapters that were SO GOOD, and others that I was so bored, I found myself skimming. Again, I KNOW!?! Damn. Ok so if you haven’t gotten ahold of this do it immediately. I don’t think I can wait until Ms Bardugo follows this one up, so I suppose I will just need to read something else by her! Will there be a movie? I do hope so! Can I use any more exclamation marks?! Perhaps!!
I just finished this book and feel untethered- how do I go back to my ordinary, magic-less life? This is the first book that I have read by Leigh Bardugo but I own a few. And i plan on digesting them immediately. This book was amazing- i'm literally in awe over her word play. Leigh might be one of the most intelligent writers I have ever experienced. The story was well written. The characters and the history were all very unique. It didn't pull me in like the other Bardugo stories I have read but I would recommend it nonetheless.
