What happens when your sex strike goes viral - and suddenly every man in town has their eye on your prize?

All I wanted was little old-fashioned romance. After a parade of Tinder disasters who think chivalry is giving me a pearl necklace on the first date, I made a pledge: until guys step up their game, this girl is off the market.

But one bottle of chardonnay later, and my drunken rant has gone viral. I'm the most famous person NOT having sex since the Jonas Brothers put on their purity rings. A men's magazine has even put a bounty on my (ahem) maidenhead: fifty Gs to whoever makes me break the drought.

Be careful what you wish for... Now my office looks like an explosion in a Hallmark factory, I've got guys lining up to sweep me off my feet - and the one man I want is most definitely off-limits. Jake Weston is a player through and through. He's also the only one who sees through the mayhem to the real me, but how can I trust he's not just out to claim the glory?

And how will I make it through the strike without scratching the itch - especially when that itch looks so damn good out of his suit?

The thrill of the chaste has never been so sexy in the hilarious, hot new romantic read from the Amazon bestselling author of GET LUCKY and THE BILLIONAIRE BARGAIN.

Overall Opinion: This was a pretty light, funny, and sexy read. I liked it more than I thought I would, but it won't go on my favorites shelf or probably be all that memorable in the long run. It doesn't get all that deep into the characters, and we don't get any time with them as an actual couple (except for the epilogue which was brief). Otherwise, it was enjoyable and would be a good one for in between some heavier reads.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Lizzie and Jake's story. The story starts when they meet again at work when they are assigned to procure items for a new exhibit at the museum that Lizzie works for. They had actually met before, and there are leftover sparks flying from that interaction. One night, Lizzie accidentally sends out a drunken rant about taking a strike on sex until she is treated well by the men she dates and it goes viral. Eventually a men's magazine puts a bounty to end her strike and things get a little crazy. In the meantime Jake and Lizzie heat things up, but Lizzie is hesitant because she is unsure of his motives. There are some funny dramatics, some sexy times, and some miscommunications...but they do get a HFN ending.

POV: This alternated between Lizzie (mainly) and Jake's POV (personally, I would've liked more from Jake's POV).

Overall Pace of Story: Good until the end. The end felt a little abrupt to me, but it flowed well and I never skimmed otherwise.

Instalove: No, they take a while to develop stronger feelings.

H rating: 3.5 stars. Jake. I liked him, but I wish he was a little more upfront with Lizzie about his intentions.

h rating: 4 stars. Lizzie. I liked her. She was funny, sassy, and took her mistake pretty well -- all things considered.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Moderate. They have some moderate tension, chemistry and scenes, but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes

OW/OM drama: Mild

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: No

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had ok closure with what I would call a HFN ending. I would've liked more time with them as an actual couple and maybe a (farther) jump ahead epilogue with some more concrete commitments for the couple.

How I got it: It was part of my kindle unlimited subscription.

Safety: This one should be Safe for most readers

It was just a matter of timing…

***3.5...maybe 3.75...nearly 4 stars***

I read this book at the wrong time. I was actually looking for some smutty goodness and this one, I thought, had huge potential. Unfortunately, I was left waiting…and waiting…and waiting. Kind of like the heroine of the story.

Lizzie has not had a good run with men. Her long-time boyfriend who she helped and supported through his studies dumps her for a new and improved model. What follows is one bad date after the other. New Year's Eve one year had huge potential until the man of the moment falls asleep at a really, REALLY crucial moment.

This very embarrassing moment sets Lizzie on a new path but unfortunately, she seems to still be faced with dud after dud after dud. No man in New York seems capable of romance and all of them seem to be interested only in the end prize. It’s time for a break.

A private post to her sister somehow manages to go viral and shares Lizzie’s frustration with men in the city. With a glass of wine under her belt, she expresses her feelings of frustration and disgust with their lack of wooing and romantic gestures. Determined to not lower her standards, Lizzie decides to go on strike…and not have sex again until a man makes an effort first.

Jake is a cynical bugger when it comes to love. He’s extremely good looking, a smooth talker and a favourite with the ladies. With a successful career in acquiring obscure treasure for the rich and famous, he’s relatively happy with his life.

When his latest job is to obtain Hollywood memorabilia for The Met, he looks forward to the challenge. At his first meeting with the curator, he’s shocked at the hostile reception he receives. The woman (not like any other woman he’s dealt with before) seems to detest him…and for the life of him he doesn’t know why.

As the story goes on we learn more about Lizzie and Jake. We see their history and what has given them such negative feelings towards love and romance. Lizzie’s expectation is high, while Jake’s expectations move no further than the bedroom. When Lizzie becomes a viral sensation, Jake starts to look at Lizzie in a different light. The more time they spend together, the more they start to feel.

I did struggle with this story a little. Lizzie is not the most logical of people and the situations she gets herself into could have easily been avoided if she had thought before acting or speaking. Jake’s arrogance and stubbornness drove me a little batty. My biggest struggle was that IT TOOK THEM TOO LONG TO WORK THINGS OUT!! Bloody knuckleheads.

Like I said, timing can make or break a book for me. When you’re looking for smutty smut and you get a slow burn…you’re bound to be disappointed. I still enjoyed Bet Me. I had a few laughs, nodded my head a time or two and shared a glass of wine in sympathy with Lizzie. I most likely will read another book by Lila Monroe in the future.

Funny, flirty, and 100% entertaining...another great romance from Lila Monroe!

Bet Me is full of all the things I love about RomComs! It's sexy, enticing, and full of sexual tension, with a humorous twist on a B&E! The character dynamic between Jake and Lizzie was unique. Their instant attraction for each other might have sparked the pages early on, and in the most memorable way for Lizzie (insert smirk here). But it was their denial of the attraction that really drove the story forward. They wanted each other. Badly. You could feel their need radiating off the pages...even when they didn't know it yet. And their work relationship only provided easier access to each other, making it even easier for them to discover more about one another.

With their shared hard work ethic and drive for success, Jake and Lizzie are a perfect match and more alike than what they think. But when the reason for their combined work efforts ends, and no excuses are left for remaining professional, will Jake and Lizzie go their separate ways?...or will they each realize what it is they truly want, and risk the chance of something more together?

Bet Me is comedic gold! Hilarious and passionate, this book is a definite must read! 5 stars!

This is everything it claims to be. I laughed and cried at this very entertaining and well written book.

Lizzie is so real and likable that I'd love her as my best friend. The journey both she and Jake go on is both funny and steamy, with plenty of angst and embarrassing moments thrown in. I loved Jake too and seeing his battle between nice guy and cynical. The book is really entertaining, the plot well thought through and fast paced and the characters are both delightful and believable. It is written from both POV's, helping you get an insight into both main characters, I liked this as I understood their feelings and the decisions they made.

I stayed up late to finish this book, it's a real page turner, with a very different story line (in a good way ) , well written characters and plenty of unexpected elements.

- “So what’s your name again?” He downs his beer in one gulp and lets out an almighty belch.

- “So tell me more about this . . . what? Art shit, you said?”

- Now I’m THIRTY and stuck in this Tinder wasteland. I mean, the last three guys I hooked up with all stopped in the middle of sex to come on my tits!

- I mean, is it so bad that I still believe there’s a guy out there who might wine and dine me, and also fuck me like he’s straight out of Magic Mike XXL?

Really? A bounty on who gets to score bed time with heroine? Who are these people? High school kids?
No apparently they are adults!
Adulting 101: do NOT declare to the internet about your sexual strike after bubblies!
You are going on sex strike for a reason: let's say to avoid assholes and one night stand! Don't you think declaring that on the internet beats the purpose a little?

3.5 Jake Weston Stars

What's it about? A girl makes a public declaration to stay celibate until the male dating pool shapes up, and finds it difficult when Jake Weston shows up at her work and challenges everything she stands for.

The best bits: I love the set up. I especially love the scene when the first two hook up and thought Monroe built up to it so very well (no pun intended) . It was hilarious and totally had me hooked. I just HAD to see how these two would overcome that particular faux pas!
It was unique, refreshing and absolutely hilarious!

The worst bit I really didn't like the heroine here. Lizzy just came across quite bitchy and self-involved for much of the book. And for someone who was so desperate for romance and old-style, traditional manners, she was actually quite crass and unrestrained. She was also a bit of a lush and much of the time she was either drunk or suffering from a hangover. I can imagine that some readers will love her "chaotic" nature and find a real vulnerability there, but for me personally, she was the weak link in an otherwise awesome story.

Recommended for: Fans of contemporary rom-coms about colleagues at work. This one is funny and sweet, but no real magic between the main characters who could have just as easily fallen for someone else.

This book was funny and sexy. The perfect RomCom with angst, steamy moments and a good twist to the story.

These two characters were good together. I liked the development of their relationship and OMG when he fell asleep….HILARIOUS! These two opposites definitely had the attraction.

This story was pure entertainment!! I read another book by this author a while back and was pleasantly surprised by it and this was the same way. Clearly this is an author that I need to watch out for and read more of her books!

Elizabeth “Lizzie” Ryan, 30, a curator at the Met and lover of Hollywood’s golden days, has had a string of bad dates and bad lays.

“‘Guys these days wouldn’t know romance if they passed out face down in it.’”

Jacob “Jake” Weston doesn’t believe in romance. He’s had his heart broken once and he’s lost all his faith. He and Lizzie have crossed paths twice in one lifetime and while they seem to have a lot in common, they have very different outlooks on sex and romance.

Told via Lizzie and Jake’s first person POV, this story starts off with a lot of promise. The flashback scenes to their initial acquaintance were cute and fun. I liked that they were in the same post break up boat and became partners in crime dealing with heartbreak. In hindsight, I wish the plot would have sprung from that premise. Instead it goes a predictable route culminating in an avoidable misunderstanding between two thirty something people that you’ll see coming a mile away.

The other things that prevented me from loving this story was that while Jake was a smooth, successful, mostly down to earth guy, he was also a little too cool and confident. For this to work as a romance (rather than the chick-lit feel it sometimes had), I felt that the reader needed to feel Jake’s pull towards Lizzie in his POV much earlier on. Instead at times he came off indifferent and at other times it felt like he was simply looking out for Lizzie as more of a friend. On the other hand, given all the food and booze Lizzie consumed throughout the pages, I’m not sure I’d blame him.

Did I believe that Jake was interested in having sex with her? Yes. Did the development of more than half of the story convince me that he wanted much more? No.

“‘All anyone wants to talk about with me these days is sex. Sex, sex, sex.’”

Everyone in this book is obsessed with sex! From their spoiled and entitled friends to Jake’s washed up manwhore grandfather. Pretty much every character acted like going without for a small while was a huge deal. And it didn’t come across as humorous as much as it came across as immature and oversexed. And yet the steam factor isn’t all that high.

In the end (and I stress the end) it does deliver the romance and the action (if you catch my drift) but for me, I think it was a case of too little, too late.

5 STARDUST CROWNS

I absolutely love everything about Lila Monroe's Bet Me. It has this John Hughes 80's movie romance feel, completely fun, romantic, and pure movie magic in book form.

Lizzie's ideal relationship is filled with the type of romance we are all fed as girls. The man will woo his love with grand gestures, and well you know the rest, but this isn't what Lizzie has gotten. Disgruntled with the state of her love life, she decides to take her love life into her own hands. Up until this point, there may be readers that dislike this idealistic and maybe a tad naive view of relationships Lizzie has, but I wasn't because I feel like we have all been there at some point, making her a relatable character. What makes me like her even more though is that she changes and evolves as the story progresses. She recognizes that the grand gestures and wooing are poor substitutes for real love, the love that is there day in and day out for all the good and the bad.

Jake is the opposite of Lizzie in every single way when it comes to relationships. He doesn't believe in true love and thinks romance is just a ploy used by men to get in a woman's bed. Even though this is his position on love, he is in no way a playboy, or at least he wasn't written that way by Lila Monroe. Underneath all of his cynical beliefs, though, lies that heart of the true romantic. He is supportive, cares about Lizzie, and does the little things that mean the most. Really, Jake is the perfect romantic comedy hero.

The relationship between Lizzie and Jack is phenomenal to watch. Seeing them grow closer, fight to resist their attraction, and eventually succumbing to their desires is shown in an authentic and organic way. Nothing ever felt rushed or forced between the two of them. Once again, creating a perfect romantic comedy couple.

The plot is fun, romantic, and angst free. The conflict is predictable as well as the inevitable climax to the story, but I just didn't care about it because it was so entertaining. What else sold me on the plot is that nothing that was done by the characters during the climax and falling action of the story seemed outlandish or out of character. Their actions are done as a way to protect themselves from being hurt or a reaction to being hurt, and their eventual reconciliation is just a natural progression of the story. What really hit this story home for me was that resolution, the big pay off! And what a pay off it was in every way!

Bet Me by Lila Monroe should be on the shelves of every lover of 80's romance movies. This book is literally made for your romantic souls. I know I enjoyed every classic Hollywood movie.

A unique and hilarious romance that had me grinning ear to ear! Lila Monroe is quickly becoming my go-to author in the romantic comedy genre and she just solidified that fact with the release of BET ME. This is a book that will drag you out of a book hangover. This is a book that will bring joy and laughter to your world. THIS is a book that will come just at the right time for many of you out there. Sexy, comical, and entertaining, BET ME will take you by surprise in every possible way.

Lizzie and Jake are quite possibly the cutest most infuriating couple you will ever come across. These two are stubborn, feisty, and hilarious. This is an enemies-to-lovers/office romance/second chance romance all rolled into one great love story. I'm not going to reiterate the storyline because it's laid out nicely in the blurb, but as you can see it has an interesting concept to it, does it not? BET ME was a sexy laugh out loud romance that had me on the edge of my seat. With amazing secondary characters that kept the great flow of the story, there was never a dull moment to be had.

Maybe I'm not in the rom-com mood.

But this managed to be trite, insulting, poorly edited, misogynistic and had a rapey vibe. So. Plot line - Lizzie goes on some bad dates, posts a video online about how she's not having sex until some dude earns it, and becomes a hot commodity in the world of "want what we can't have."

Things I found confusing -
- if all these dudes sucked isn't the vajayjay de facto closed for business? Or is she banging awful dudes that she doesn't like even though she doesn't like them and then complaining about it?
- does this chick have a golden cha-cha? Why does the world care that some random woman is no longer boning dudes that don't treat her well? How is this a plot line?

- The hero's friend putting a $50,000 reward online for this first guy that fucks this woman is just gross. It seriously creeped me out. If someone has a differing view on how it's okay to pay a man $50,000 to lure a woman into thinking that he has feelings for her (bc that's her thing here - she wants a "romantic" man who cares about her) so that she has sex with him please enlighten me.

- Further, the hero's decision not to tell the heroine about the bounty on her vagina made him a top-notch dickhead. A guy that won't tell you that men are being paid to fuck you isn't a romantic hero. He's just an awful person.

I predicted where it was going and how it would end within the first 70 pages. I was not incorrect in my assumptions. I didn't find it funny - but that may have been because I was too horrified and confused by the awkward/bizarre storyline. I'm going back to my dark romances - they're safer than this.

Lizzie is a curator at a museum and is trying to put on an exhibit dedicated to the Golden Age of Hollywood. It kind of says something that I was more interested in her struggles to put the show together than I ever was with her struggles to find love.

After yet another bad date, Lizzie goes home and gets drunk. (She does drink quite a bit. About every chapter has her knocking back something eighty proof. Hey Lizzie, maybe if you got some help for your drinking problem you would find access to some better quality men.) She films herself ranting about the lack of romance nowadays and how she's going to go on a sex strike until the male gender gets its act together. The next day Lizzie is horrified to discover she had accidentally uploaded the rant to YouTube. (The horror must be why Lizzie doesn't realize that what goes up on YouTube can come down.)

Here's my problem with Lizzie (besides her being a lush): she's whinny and lazy. She puts the whole burden on the man while she does nothing. Why does he have to do all the work? If you're so desperate for a romantic evening then you take the guy out for a candle-lit dinner and dancing in the moonlight. If you want something so badly to happen, you make it happen.

And for goodness' sake go to an A.A. meeting.

This book is the perfect, classic romantic comedy. In my head I can practically picture the Nora Ephron movie trailer for this book! Upbeat music, bumbling (read: idiot/hilarious) suitors, the handsome man she loves to hate and our beautiful, but unlucky in love heroine. Add in a bet, with male ego and a pile of cash on the line and you get to see what the men of New York are willing to do for $50K!

Lizzie is a romantic at heart. She wants a swoon-worthy courtship and a gentlemen suitor, like in the good old days. She’s obsessed with old Hollywood and classic Hollywood romances, so the men in her life have some big ideals to live up to, but she’s confident that eventually she’ll find the one that was worth the wait.

When she comes home from yet another pathetic Tinder date, she records a video rant about her abysmal dating life, her dry spell and her commitment to going on a sex strike until someone comes along who wants her for more than just a one night stand. She made this video message for her sister as it was too late to Skype her like she would have normally done, but instead of sending the message privately, Lizzie posts it publicly.

By morning, news of her sex strike and bad luck with men has spread not only to her place of work, but across town and all over the entire World Wide Web. Add to that, she’s all of a sudden faced with working closely with a gorgeous man, she’d hoped never to see again after a lack-luster one night stand a few New Year’s ago and well…she’s not exactly having a banner week.

Jake is hired by the museum to help Lizzie collect artifacts for her Golden Age of Hollywood exhibit. Although both of them feel the attraction that pulled them together a few years ago, Lizzie distances herself from him. She thinks that he’s only got short term potential and her next lover is supposed to be the real deal.

As news of her sex strike spreads like wildfire, she becomes a bit of a heroine to some of the video viewers and a nuisance to others. The head of a popular men’s magazine falls into the latter category, as his wife has also joined the sex strike in a show of female solidarity. He offers the readers of his magazine $50,000 to the first man who can get Lizzie to break her strike. Needless to say, suddenly men come out of the woodwork to take a crack at a date with Lizzie. Her office starts to look like a flower shop and the phone is ringing off the hook with would-be suitors, but her mind and body are so focused on the one man she’s trying to avoid, that the suitors don’t make much headway with her.

How will she know which men are the genuine and which are just trying to win the bounty? Will Jake throw his hat into the race or will he be up front and honorable with Lizzie? What happens when Lizzie finds out that Jake knew about the bet from the start? Can she trust him? Can she trust her heart? Was it all a lie? She’s not sure that’s a bet she wants to take.

Standalone romantic comedy. Light, flirty, fun, sexy and sweet. HEA. No cliffhanger. No cheating.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.

This was an easy,enjoyable,sexy read.

The blurb made me so curious to read Bet Me and Lizzie's journey didn't let me down.It had me laughing from the beginning to the end.

Lizzie hasn't had the best record with her romatic dates. She is so dejected, she has almost lost every hope into the opposite sex,she thinks of swearing off all the rude men on the planet but the fate has other plans for her.

This was the first time I've read this author and I've really liked this story and I'll read more of Lila Monroe's books in the future.

OMG I laughed so much with this book, from the very first page it had me in stitches!

I received an Arc from the Author and I am so pleased I did. Bet Me was thoroughly entertaining and it had an original plot. I have to say I think it hit a nerve there as I think we could all see ourselves in Lizzy and how as a woman you are constantly looking for a bit of romance and TLC in your love life.

Lizzy is a curator for a prominent museum and after several (really terrible) dates, she goes on a massive rant with her sister, she "thinks" she is leaving her a message on her computer chat without realising she is actually uploading it into social media. Everything would have been fine, if the rant would have been just about her share of bad dates, however she decides she is going on a sex strike until she is treated with the respect and adoration she deserves. From this point onward the story takes on a hilarious tone and you are urged to keep on reading to see the misadventures and repercussions that this has not only on Lizzie's life but everyone around her. Particularly Jake. OMG How can I describe Jake. He is the typical leading man character, with plenty of wittiness and enviable charisma, he is just genuinely charming and you can't help but love him from the get go. There is history between the leads and when they are teamed to bring Hollywood sass to the museum this opens the window to something they both had been looking for but neither thought they could ever find.

Great rom-com one I would love to see in the big screen!. More please =)

I'm a sucker for a good romcom and this book didn't disappoint. It's sweet and funny and dare I say sexy, even if it doesn't come with lots of smut.

Lizzy, the super heroine of this book is every woman nowadays. She's sick and tired of the way men have treated her and she goes on a strike - a sexless strike. In comes Jake Weston; yes, he's a type of James Bond inspired character minus the agent quality. He's the one who got away, or shall I say fell asleep during sexy times. And Lizzie won't let him forget it. He's celibate and likes it that way, he mock our heroine for her strike, has a buddy who puts a price on it and most importantly falls crazy in love with her without even realizing it.
These 2 main characters are wonderfully written that it's somehow impossible not to love them.
The leading lady is strong and mouthy, she knows what she wants and goes for it, she has a stable job, she has friends, and she knows she looks good - it's self love that makes one beautiful.
The hero, well, he's sex! He knows he's irresistible to women and plays on that. He dresses sharply, he's a smooth talker and knows how to get the job done.
The chemistry between the two is noticeable from the get go - it's all a matter a of when will they do it.

All in all, Bet Me is a great story that grabbed me from the get go and kept me entertained all throughout. It made me laugh, it made me swoon and it made me awe more times than I can remember. If you're looking for an hilarious book with a great heroine this is for you. <3

That was a nice, light and funny read that was good for me and I liked it after the series of drama packed reads I had. The dialogues and internal monologues were hilarious, the banter between the characters was sexy and although the story wasn’t something quite memorable and I probably won’t remember it in a month, it was such a refreshing book to lighten my mood after so many heartbreaking reads.

The plot was interesting although I didn’t quite get all the movie reference but it managed to keep my attention. And although it was quite predictable it was a good in between book with a very straight-forward heroine and a hot, alpha hero.

If you want light, funny and unpretentious – this will work for you. No drama and profound storylines, but still a nice read.

Bet Me is a humorous, second-chance love story. The characters snarky banter had me laughing out loud. What I love the most was the duel POV that provide heart felt moments.

Lizzie is an assistant curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She is planning her debut as lead curator of a "Golden Age of Hollywood" exhibition. Jake Weston is assigned to assist Lizzie with procuring the more difficult pieces she'll need for the show. As it turns out this isn't the first time Jake and Lizzie have crossed paths. They had a one time embarrassingly, funny hook-up with Jake passing out between Lizzie's legs. Although Lizzie is still attracted to Jake she wants nothing to do with the cynical man who doesn't believe in romance.

Lizzie has combed Tinder for romance. All she wants to be is wooed but all she's received are a few pearl necklaces. After a final failed date Lizzie goes on a drunkin' recording, intended for her sister, vowing to take herself off the market until the men of New York get their acts together. The recording goes viral and Lizzie finds herself in a new predicament. Her strikes is having the opposite effect, now she's attracting the guys who see her as some kind of conquest. Is Jake just another conquest seeker? Or is there more to him than meets the eye?

I loved Bet Me. Lizzie is an old soul who looking for romance in all the wrong places. Her noble vow doesn't take long to become a comedy of errors (more bad dates). I loved the chemistry between Jake and Lizzie. Although they had different ideas regarding romance they meshed. The story is funny, sweet and memorable. 5 Stars

Lizzie Ryan work as assistent curator at the famous Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. She is obsessed with old Hollywood movies and finally has gained an opportunity to show off her knowledge and love in form of "Golden Age of Hollywood" exhibition. But not everything in her life is going as smoothly as her career. Her private life is a bad joke and every man she meets is only looking for to get laid. Everything she's ever wanted was to be wined, dined and a bit romanced, not sit in a sportsbars drinking bad stale beer and listening to selfish douchebags. She just can't believe that romance has somehow fallen by the wayside.

Jake Weston is freelance "finder," who tracks down artifacts, antique hounds or anything else worth collecting. He has been asigned to help Lizzie to track down some important items for her exhibition. To his surprise he realises that they already've met 3 years ago, except he can't remember what happened. He only can recall that he was already attracted to her then.
What he definitely isn't looking for is love, romance and relationship.

One day after comming home from really bad date Lizzie can't reach her sister and records a video message in belief to send it to her via Skype except something went wrong and the video goes public. In this message she complains about lack of romance in the world and decides to go on strike until men starts to show some romance and consideration.

And suddenly there are men who wants to romance her.....

The big question is WHY?

The book is great read and oh so funny written. I laughed quite a lot and loved every second of it.

Bet Me by Lila Monroe

I loved the sound of this book when I read the blurb and, having read a few of Monroe's RomComs previously, I knew I'd be in for an easy and enjoyable time.

Bet Me is about the down on her loveluck, Lizzie and her former almost one night stand, Jake. Lizzie inadvertently announces to the world that she's now adhering to a sexual strike until men start to demonstrate a bit of romance! I say inadvertently because the recording Lizzie made was supposed to have been directed at her sister and without the privacy option on, everyone near and far was witness to it. Before she can even get her head around it, Lizzie finds herself as a role-model for other women (and at least one man!) who demand some romance and appreciation from their significant others. She gets more attention and flowers than she'd ever bargained for and when she realizes there's a bounty on her well, maidenhead she doesn't know what to believe and who to trust. She also can't seem to stop herself from feeling *things* for her coworker slash former almost-one-night-stand, Jake who incidentally doesn't believe in romance at all.

This was a great light and highly enjoyable read and one I'd recommend if you enjoy RomComs. The characters are pretty hilarious and Hank reminded me of Hugh Hefner in a non-sleazy way. The dialogue was fun and flirty and the sexual tension -accompanied by Jake's dirty-talking- was hot!

*arc received in exchange for honest review.

Bet Me by Lila Monroe was just what I need. I had been in a book funk and Bet Me was able to go where others books couldn't. Had me finishing a book that I couldn't put down. A book that I highly enjoyed!! Hilariously funny, sweet and sexy. It had it all. All the components to a great book. It also had me begging for this pair to finally get together but I loved the back and forward from them. I was rooting for them from their first encounter way back three years ago. I loved how they met, what they did and how they ended their night. It was awesome! I also enjoyed how they came back into each other's lives. The whole story from start to finish left me excited to see what they got themselves into next. Lizzie and Jake find themselves working together fighting the sexual tensions that was never finished from their time together in the past. Lizzie unknowingly uploads a rant about men, romance and dating. Her video goes live for the world. She later finds a bounty on her sex life. Now she doesn't know who she can trust. Who likes her for her and not the money. After trying to have a professional work relationship with Jake and not letting herself fall for his charm. Because she doesn't trust him and his intentions. Great read that I highly recommend. I was given this ARC for my honest opinion.

Oh the mess Lizzie finds herself in!! As you can read from the blurb, her sex strike goes viral and there is a bounty on her maidenhead and she is being wooed by possible every desperate bachelor in the city. Her only distraction is the big show she is setting up at Met for which she needs the help of Jake Weston.
They have a comical and unforgettable almost-one-night-stand three years ago and now Lizzie sees him as an arrogant manwhore. Jake might be a playboy, he's also funny , kind and sexy. They both banter, laugh together, understand each other underneath the mask they both wear. Their ideas about romance might be different, but they can help their chemistry and attraction. If only the strike and bounty were not standing in between!!
