A Rough Riders free read.

Keely McKay Donohue is enduring the longest wedding reception of her life: her own. The only saving grace is that Jack Donohue is finally hers. Usually her hunky man gives her everything she wants, so why is her groom denying her the one thing she wants right now?

Jack thought his secretive wait-for-the-honeymoon plan was romantic, until he realizes he's only put Keely in a fighting mood. If he wants to get back on his temperamental bride's good side, he'd better find a way to sweep his cowgirl off her boots...fast.

This is a free (Yay!) quickie available (http://www.mybookstoreandmore.com/slo...) from Lorelei James. It takes place during Keely McKay and Jack Donohue's (All Jacked Up) wedding reception and honeymoon.
Photobucket

Keely is hungry for her bridegroom. She can hardly wait to get through her wedding reception--she wants her sexy groom now! She doesn't want to wait for the elaborate, romantic honeymoon night that Jack has arranged. So she's going to try everything in her power to get a little taste of Jack, even if she has to flash him a little skin...
Photobucket
But Jack stays strong--he's determined to give his sexy bride the romantic wedding night he thinks she deserves at the tropical island resort he booked. The man is out to impress.
Photobucket

Keely enjoys a teary dance with her father Carson to Kenny Chesney's "There Goes My Life"
and then a romantic first dance with her new husband to George Strait's "You Look So Good In Love" (good choices, LJ!)

But she's eager to get the party started with Jack. He wants to wait until they're at their honeymoon destination--say what? Keely will have none of that! She takes that 'wait for the honeymoon' as a challenge, and does her darndest to entice Jack from the reception to the loooong drive to the airport, but Jack thinks he knows what Keely needs and deserves. His woman deserves something romantic and magical--something she'll remember for the rest of her life. Could Jack possibly be wrong about that?

Loved it, even though it was waaaay too short! But it's free, and I'll take any tidbit about the McKay family that I can get. Loved the sexy, often humorous dialogue (an LJ strong point), loved catching up with the McKays (including a sexy interlude between Cord and AJ), and loved seeing Jack try to romance his wife. True, there was a little something missing--no 'real time' explicit love scenes between Jack and Keely--but that was okay with me, I could certainly feel the heat between them, and I was able to use my imagination quite well...:)
Now I'm looking forward to the next in this fantastic series,

4 stars – Contemporary Erotic Romance

Oh poor, poor Keely. You married a doting, sexy-as-sin stud who wants to romance you off your feet by whisking you to the exotic island of Tahiti to give you the perfect, memorable wedding night of your life and two weeks of pampered honeymoon bliss, including a secluded villa on your very own private beach, and you’re too much of a horny spoiled b*tch to appreciate it?!?! Jack, please drop Bratty Keely back at the airport, and I’ll be your devoted island love slave whom you can romance, wine, dine, and beach sixty-nine to your heart’s content! *naughty grin*

Okay seriously, I really like Jack and Keely together, but I thought it was ridiculous that she acted like such a snitty, ungrateful nympho about Jack wanting to wait until they’d reached their island honeymoon destination to have sex for the first time as a married couple so he could give her an unforgettable, romantic wedding night. I was also disappointed that we weren’t given any steamy details of their night together after so much tension and buildup. Still, it’s a cute, entertaining read, and I love me some Rough Riders.

Im sorry but was there meant to be a purpose to this short story? Because if there was I didnt get the memo.

There wasnt even any sex! Sure keely spent the entire time and trying to get into Jacks pants. But thats all it was.

Ho-hum read that works like an extra epilogue to All Jacked Up. If you've read and liked that book, you'll want to read this free - yay! - story even though it adds (almost) nothing to the series; if you haven't, don't bother because it doesn't stand on its own.

My verdict: Jack is still yummilicious and Keely is a spoiled brat, but they love each other and that's all that matters.

And here's what happened when she finally got him:

And she's on top because she won the bet. ;)

A tad disappointing because there weren't any hot scenes. Jack kept both me and Keely waiting for way too long. On the other hand, his intentions were sweet. I wish we would have actually seen the hot lovin' scene we were teased with the whole story. I did like where they finally got to it, let's just say my hubby and I have something in common with these two and it brought back good memories of my wedding night ;)

This is a very quick revisit with Jack and Keely, taking place at their wedding reception and the start of their honeymoon.
It was fun to meet up with them again, but I don't feel like this enhanced their story. It's good, but not great.

This was a very short story that takes place during and just after Jack and Keely's wedding. When I saw there was going to be a short for J & K, I was thrilled because their book left some unanswered questions. Some of those answers were revealed in conversation in this book, but I think it might have played out as a pretty good novella (working out his moving his business or not moving it, where they would live, etc).

But this was just a quickie and all it served to do was showcase everything I don't like about Keely. The end of All Jacked Up was fine, but I felt she could have admitted to being a bit at fault. I mean, she did blab at least one thing she was expressly asked not to mention and probably did hurt someone because of it. In this one she blows her top and acts like a spoiled princess and the outcome is that she was right and he was wrong ... he's got a lot to learn. Huh? Sorry, if I'd been her conscience I'd have smacked her for being so bitchy.

So, that's why I only give it two stars. It was rather pointless, didn't add anything to the series and concluded with Keely again being considered above reproach for her own stupid temperament.

Don't get me wrong, there's a lot I like about Keely and I liked AJU a lot. There's just that little glitch where she comes away without a scratch when she's got at least a little bit of remorse coming to her.

Still, it's a freebie and, if you can't stand another day without a McKay, I'd say, go for it, but don't expect much.

I guess there's no harm in downloading and reading this freebie, but I didn't feel like it added anything to the Rough Riders experience. It's devoid of any hot sex scenes, doesn't really tell us anything new about Jack or Keely, and kind of diminishes any hot sexual tension by resorting to telling, rather than showing. As well, it shows Keely in a rather unflattering light, when she grumps at Jack near the end.

YMMV, but I wasn't a big fan.

OK this would have to be the first book in the whole series that didnt get 5 stars I think!
Keely did nothing but piss me the hell off the whole time, she is such a spoiled brat...your husband is trying to something sweet and romantic for you and your throwing a fit?!?
OK im better now just had to rant about how much she irritated me!
But on a good note Jake was perfect like always:)

Poor Keely just wants to jump her new hubby....if she can only convince him to abandon his plan! This short, free ebook gives a look at the wedding reception of Jack & Keely, from Book #8, All Jacked Up. I enjoyed this brief glimpse into their HEA. I enjoyed reading more about Jack and Keely. Shes a pain but I thought it was funny how she was trying to get him to have sex with her before they got to their honeymoon!! Anyway great to read more!! Not sure what the point was other than to maybe set up Brandt and Jessie. A fun read none the less.

This is a free (Yay!) quickie available from Lorelei James. A tad disappointing because there weren't any hot scenes. I loved it, its a short one which was fine. A cute short story.

This can not be considered the longest wedding, but it has definitely been the most fun. Keely is overcome with the desire she has for her husband and I can not really blame her; but Jack can be weighed heavy with the issue of non-consummation. Carson did it again... twice... the best dad ever!!!!

Did I just give a Rough Riders book 1 stars? Yep, I sure did! I'm not really sure what in the hell this was supposed to be about, or what value this added to the series. Keely's whining was outrageous and she was a total and complete Cee. U. Next. Tuesday.! Thankfully this book was free and short, or I probably wouldn't have finished it.

Too slow of a ride if you're asking me, straight to the point of boringly uneventful.
However, the overal good impression that I got from Mr.Yummy and Steady make up for the digressions and indiscretions of Ms.Drunk and Mouthy.

I couldn't decide if I wanted to give this one 3 stars or 4 because my actual rating is a 3.5. However, I went with a 3 because of how bitchy Keely was just because Jack wanted to do something romantic for their first night together as husband and wife. The sweet moment with AJ and Cord was nice, it was awesome of Carson to deed some of the McKay lands to Keely and Jack, and Jack was just amazing. Keely just put a little bit of a damper on this for me. She seriously can't go a few hours without sex and gets crabby because her husband wanted to do something nice for her, for them? Ridiculous. However, like I said, Jack was awesome and I love him all the more. He can romance me whenever he likes!

Also, I didn't really mind the fact that there was no actual sex in this little free read because it was so short. I think the point of it was to show Jack and Keely's love for each other, especially Jack, not their sex life.

Over all, this was nice, short, and sweet, even if it didn't contribute really anything to the series.

WHAT THE HELL

I usually get an inkling of how many stars I will give a book in the first quarter of the book, and I had this one set at a definite 4. Until.....I'm sitting in the car, listening to my Kindle read it to me (on a long trip home), patiently waiting for the scorching sex scene.....& it didn't fu*king come!!!

One minute I am listening to them undressing, ready to get all down and dirty on the sand, then next I am listening to "About the Author". I was completely dumb founded and had to do a double take, stopping my Kindle to go back and find out what the hell was going on. The worst part was that flicking back was like a double edged sword. The encouraging side was that - no my Kindle didn't fuck up & malfunction, but the bad side was that I got a whole lot of cock block!!! WTF!!!???!!!

Where the hell is my sex scene???????

It was so good revisiting Jack and Keely in this short story which takes place after Keely and Jack says I do. A battle of wills take place between Jack and Keely because Keely wants the hard, fast and slow brand of lovin' that only her husband can give her and Jack wants their first time as husband and wife to be something special.
Since Jack and Keely are my utmost favorite couple from the Rough Riders series, I loved revisiting them and finding out that they have stayed true to their form with a love such as theirs to tide them through forever.

Hardly anyone can tease her characters or her readers better than Lorelei James. Of course, depending on where the teasing is going on depends on the reaction you’ll get. We met Jack and Keely in their book, All Jacked Up, earlier this year, and I had been anticipating Keely’s book for a while. She’s the only female in a horde of brothers, all of whom are very dominant, alpha, sexy, the whole nine yards. She was also a wild child character when she showed up in the previous books in this series. So you can imagine the curiosity about Keely when she meets her match, finally, in Jack. That was a fun, fevered, and sensual ride. This time Jack has in mind a long, slow ride for his new wife, but he’s in for a surprise of his own.

It’s just like Keely to be impatient to get on with living, and wanting her own wedding reception to be over with so she can toss off her boots and rumple the sheets with Jack is so Keely. She even tries to make things easier for them in the long run by divesting herself of as many wedding clothes as possible, but instead she runs into Cord and AJ going at it like rabbits, which doesn’t help her overanxious self in its current situation.

And her new husband isn’t helping either. He’s made all the honeymoon plans and hasn’t told her one dadgum thing he has in mind. The man thinks he’s being romantic, but he’s already forgotten one of the most important things he loves about his wife. No secrets, no calling the shots without her. They’re in this life together and he’d be better off remembering that.

As much as Jack has enjoyed, reveled, and just plain old had a good time in all of their sexual encounters before their marriage, he wants their first time as husband and wife to be perfect. Hence his strategy in secretly planning their two weeks alone. But after two days of traveling and keeping his horny Keely at bay - which is killing him just as much - Jack gets a surprise when things don’t go as planned once they have ocean, beach, and sunsets before them for the taking.

The teasing thus far for both Jack and Keely, doesn’t end as you’d expect, and the reader gets some teasing all their own at the resolution these two come up with in the end. It’s actually a perfect ending for this newly married couple.

Even in so few pages, Ms. James still pull a variety of emotions out of you. I will never get tired of reading about this family, whether in fun and laughter, anger, or tragedy, or whether they’re workin’ up a sweat and gettin’ me all hot and bothered, these McKays are lodged in my heart and are there to stay.

Oh! Slow Ride is a free ebook right now, so be sure to get your copy soon!

I am a fan of Lorelei James Rough Riders Series and Slow Rider is a short story of Keely & Jack’s wedding which takes place after book 8 and if you have not read them and just want a quick and hot, sexy and steamy tale, then you will enjoy it, otherwise you might get lost in all the going-ons and all those dozen characters you are not familiar with.

This series is truly fabulous…hot cowboys and sexy women, steamy and unconventional sex encounters of two really interesting cowboy dynasties – The McKays & the West families. . I have always loved Keely in previous books and Jack…swoon…what a guy…just perfect for this wild girl. All she wants is to get down on her husband and here she is having to dance, eat cake, dance, walk in on relatives getting it whilst she doesn’t…..

What a fun read even though I thought it could have been part of the epilogue in Book 8. But hey, this was a free read from Amazon so I should not complain…right!!!!

I am really looking forward to the next books in this AWESOME series, which so far I have read in order.

I'm not sure exactly what my thought process was, but I read this one without having read any of the books in this series. I know this was a free novella on Amazon and this author comes highly recommended by trusted friends. So, I gave it a go.

I admit that I was a tad bit lost, not knowing any of the other characters or even the main characters of this novella. But, what I saw, I did like. Keely and Jack are fun, flirty, and know how to push each others buttons. *wink* They think back to some of their most favorite sexy times and I almost felt left out. Now, I want to go back and read through the series, just so I can get to their book and live their sexy times with them! Is that weird? Probably.

Anywho, this was a really speedy read for me and I liked it. I think I read it a half hour. I'm not typically into Western Romances, but I'd be willing to give this series a go. There is a simplicity and romance to the authors' writing that just made this novella enjoyable. It definitely left a smile on my face.
