Okay, this review will be a bit different because, well, this book was a bit different.

A while back, I read an anthology called Charmed and in it was this short story called "Tangled Dreams" by Lori Foster. It was part of her Winston Brothers series, so being that I loved that story, I searched for the rest of the brothers...and imagine my surprise to find that they were all in anthologies. Well, I soo didn't want any more anthologies lying around for just one story. But, lookie what I found: Wildly Winston...all 4 brothers in one book! The first 3 are shorts from various anthologies, and the last is the full-length novel called Wild. awesome!

"Tangled Sheets" is cute short story about the eldest Winston brother Cole who falls for one of his regulars, but she is too shy to do anything about it, so she fabricates a twin sister so she can have a wild romp with Cole. I didn't think I'd like it, but I loved the part where Cole figured out "Shelly" was really Sophie, the girl who'd been driving him crazy for months! And the next day, when he stalked across his bar and kissed her in front of everyone was great!

"Tangled Dreams" is about Chase Winston and a girl he's known for a while, it's Sophie's assistant Allison. Well, we find out Chase is into a bit of bondage and dominance in the bedroom, so he's never really looked at Allison because she doesn't strike him as liking the kind of bedplay he does.
But a couple of meddling ghosts and a crazy boyfriend make this short a fun read.

"Tangled Images" is about Mack and a woman he's had a crush on for years, but she's about 30, and Mack is 24. No big deal to him, but to Jessica? It's a huge deal, not to mention Mack seems to be nothing but a party boy who skates through life...and reminds her of her louse of an ex-husband. Add a teenage daughter into the mix, and we've got a fun reunion for Mack and Jessica. Especially since Jessica is a photographer and Mack is doing his sister-in-law a favor by modeling for her men's lingerie line.

"Wild" is the full-length novel about Zane, the wild Winston and Tamara, the gypsy who runs the shop next to his. She is a sweet and strong girl who fell in love with Zane years ago, but finally decides to go after him. And playboy Zane? He turns her proposition down! the jerk! She finally got enough guts to ask him to sleep with her, and he said no! And he quickly changed his mind! lol
But Tamara just wants sex, and Zane realizes she's so much more than the annoying gypsy next door. An she has someone trying to run her out of town, so Zane's protective instincts rear up while Tamara is trying to keep him at a distance. I loved the story.

There's a version of this book out there called The Winston Brothers and it's just the first 3 shorts...you'd really be missing out if you got that one rather than this version. Zane's story kept me on the edge of my seat from the suspense of the mystery intruder, and the sexual tension. Totally worth the read.

3.5 stars for one story. 3, 2 and 2 stars for the other three stories.

This book contains four stories. They are similar in that guy meets girl. Guy is gorgeous confirmed bachelor, but when he meets her, he is immediately smitten and desires only her. He wants to protect her and take care of her. She is fragile, wounded or weak in some way. He patiently woos her and brings her out of it. By the end, they get together and he wants to have children with her. As Amazon reviewer Susy Notwen recently commented to me "(some) novels are meant to be like ice cream sundaes; sweet, somewhat filling with a little too much whipped cream --- but whoever disses too much whipped cream? --- We all need a little excess in our lives." So, if a reader is in the mood for a Susy-style ice cream sundae, this book should do it. Thank you Susy, I loved your thoughts.

Unfortunately, I've been spoiled with a lot of great writing (as I define it), so I look for that. I'm not looking for ice cream. Therefore, my ratings may be a lower than some readers like.

3.5 stars for TANGLED IMAGES.
Nice characters. Nice plot. I enjoyed it even though it was predictable. Mack met Jessica in college two years ago. He has always desired her, but she snubbed him. She was attracted to him, but felt she was not desireable, and she felt he had too many other girlfriends. When they meet two years later, Mack learns she is divorced with a teenage daughter. He wins her over and loves her daughter as well.

Sexual language: mild. Number of sex scenes: one. Setting: Thomasville, Kentucky. Copyright: 2000. Genre: contemporary romance.

3 stars for TANGLED SHEETS.
Nice, sweet, pleasant story. Sophie is shy. She comes into Cole's bar every day after work. For seven months, Cole and Sophie have been attracted to each other but neither one says or does anything about it. Sophie tells Cole, her identical twin sister Shelly will be visiting. Shelly does not exist. Sophie dresses up as a sultry Shelly, and attempts to seduce Cole for one night of lust. My main problem was that I couldn't believe someone like Cole wouldn't ask Shelly out sometime during those seven months.

Sexual language: mild. Number of sex scenes: four. Setting: current day Thomasville, Kentucky. Copyright: 1999. Genre: contemporary romance.

2 stars for TANGLED DREAMS.
It was ok, but I don't recommend it. A couple hid some jewels in a house before they died. Now as ghosts, they want their heir, Allison, to have a passionate love with someone in order to find the jewels. She has desired Chase for a long time but he was never interested. The ghosts ignite his interest by causing him to read Allison's thoughts. Allison was too much of a shrinking-violet-type wimp for me. When Chase asked questions, she would mumble and mutter and not be direct. In one case, he said a harmful intruder was in the house. She denied it by saying it was probably a prankster, but she was wrong. The plot did not interest me.

Sexual language: moderate. Number of sex scenes: one. Setting: current day Thomasville, Kentucky. Copyright: 1999. Genre: contemporary fantasy romance.

2 stars for WILD.
Tamara was an orphan and was taken in by gypsy relatives whom she currently supports. Tamara runs a gypsy-style fortune telling store. She reads palms, makes astrology charts and intuits the future. Zane owns a computer store next door. Someone is breaking into her shop doing damage. Zane asks his cousin Joe to help protect her and uncover the problem. At times, there was too much pondering in the minds of Zane and Tamara. At times, I wanted it to be over.

Sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: five. Setting: current day Thomasville, Kentucky. Copyright: 2002. Genre: contemporary romance.

I quite liked these books.

Lori Foster is a standard for me. I wish random people would approach me and ask "how do I write a romance novel" because I'd have an answer, I'd point them to Lori Foster.

What I particularly like about the Fost-inator is that she has an intense focus on people throughout her stories. What I mean by this is that her seemingly formulaic story-lines are infused by the fact that you get very different characters in each book.

That being said, these four books aren't a great example of that because all of the brothers are similar in so many ways. But the women are quite different and the themes in the stories are different, if a little predictable.

Four good romances with each one featuring a different brother. If I had to pick a favorite, I would say I enjoyed the first one the most.

Winston Brothers (Cole, Mack, Zane, Chase) and a tiny bit of Cousin Joe.

This anthology features three Winston brother novellas and one Winston brother book. It's been too long since I read this to give many details. Suffice it to say that some moments of some stories stick with me to this day. Others I barely recall, even after reading a few detailed reviews here. I recall liking Cole and Mack's novellas most and it takes place in Kentucky (win!). So here's my best shot a few months later.

Twins Hart and Dexter Winston's stories can be read in Double the Pleasure and Double the Heat.

Tangled Sheets

Shy Sophie owns a little lingerie shop and has been coming into Cole Winston's bar every day after work for months. She orders hot chocolate and sits alone in the back. Sophie is enamored with Cole. She watches his playful and loving interaction with the brothers he raised. She sees how women respond to him and he responds back. Sophie knows she doesn't measure up but she thinks that if she can have just one night with Cole she can finally let go if this infatuation. She decided to invent a twin sister named Shelly who is everything she's not. A bold, sexy twin who will seduce Cole and allow Sophie to continue to come in nightly and have her hot chocolate and absorb the Winston family atmosphere she's unwilling to give up. Cole's had the hots for Sophie for months but he's not sure how to approach her. She seems to scare easily. So he's devised a plan. The female patrons of the bar will enter a Valentine's day contest to win a date with a Winston. All the brothers have agreed that the winner will be Sophie and Cole will get the date. The problem is that Cole can't convince Sophie to enter. But maybe he can convince Shelly.

Tangled Dreams

This one gets a little foggy. Allison I believe is Sophie's assistant/worker at her boutique, and best friend. Allison has lusted after Chase for months but she knows she's not his type. That is until two ghosts (friendly dead relatives) that reside in Allison's home with her give Chase the power to read Allison's thoughts. She can no longer hide her feelings from him and he's as aggravated as he is enticed. He's never looked at mousey Allison in a sexual way before because she wouldn't be interested in his kind of sex (bondage and dominance) but after hearing here thoughts he thinks he might have been wrong.

Tangled Images

Mack and Jessica attended college together. She's older than him by 6 years and found him attractive, but who didn't, which was part of the problem. She was there to work hard and get an education and Mack Winston seemed to be there to have a great time and get girls. Mack, the youngest of the Winston's liked Jessica then but she never seemed to give him the time of day. In fact she seemed to dislike him. When Mack's sister-in-law Sophie (from Tangled Sheets) begs him to model lingerie for her store's catalog he reluctantly agrees and is surprised and happy to learn that Jessica is the photographer. Jessica also has a teen or nearly teen daughter who is in need of tutoring. Mack just happens to be a teacher looking for a job.

Wild

I think the opening of this story has the heroin, Tamara a gypsy who owns a palm reading/new age shop, snuggling up to Zane at his computer store and telling him she wants him. It was a bizarre but bold opening but falls right in line with the bizarre reality of this world. Tamara has decide to proposition Zane but he rejects her. Someone is breaking into Tamara's shop and with each break-in the damage and threat escalates. Zane thinks Tamara might be crazy but there's something about her. Still the Playboy of the Winston family isn't interested in any one girl and specifically not a crazy one but his protective nature takes over when he realizes there is really a threat. This one involves cousin Joe Winston (I'm assuming somewhere he has his own book/story), a shop worker named Luna, and Tamara's crazy gypsy relatives.

Tangled Dreams was really funny...and hot as well.
Tangled Images was fun and cute. And hot.
Wild was great, funny and hot. Really good plot and had me turning the pages to see what happened in the end.
Basically all these stories had love, humour and a good plot. Really good read.

I love Lori Foster's novels and I've heard so much about her novels about the Winston men but never had the chance to read their books. So when Lori came to me about reviewing her December Berkley Anthology release of Double the Pleasure which features an all new Winston novella I knew I had to get the books that started it all. Wildly Winston is a four-in-one novel with the first 4 books about the original 4 Winston brothers which I have to say I'm amazingly pleased that I finally got to find out all about the Winston brothers and next onto the wild Winston cousins. Tangled Sheets —Cole Winston and Sophie Sheridan's love story and the first book in the Winston family series. The Winston brothers are an interesting bunch of very virile and sexy men who I enjoyed getting to know. The oldest Winston brother falls head-over-heels in love in this first short story entitled Tangled Sheets . Cole Winston is oldest brother of four and he is the parental figure in the family since their parents both died when the boys we young and Cole was in college.

Review for: The Winston Brothers (Winston Brothers, #1-3): Another really cute brother series for Lori Foster. I really thought Tangled Sheets (Cole's story) was really cute until I read Chase's story, Tangled Dreams. Now THAT was cute! and Mack's story was just plain HILARIOUS! All 3 were short, sweet and to the point. The only one I would have liked to have been longer was Chase's story but that just cuz I got a real kick from Rose and Burke's story! ;) lol

Review for: Wild (Winston Brothers, #4): I'm not sure why Lori Foster chose Zane's story to be a full novel instead of a short Novella, but I liked it. His and Tamara's story was filled with twists and turns that didn't bore you and had passion from the beginning. Highly recommend.

For a book that contains three previously published novellas & novel I was expecting something more. The story lines are predictable, the characters were flat and quite frankly the train of thought thrown into the "hot stuff" was not only unrealistic but distracting and eye rolling. I have another book in this series at home waiting to be read, but it will take something magical to motivate me to read it.

Every Winston Brother is definitely swoon/drool worthy. I liked every story in this novel. although chase's story was just okay. i just didn't feel that the supernatural/ghost theme fit in with the rest of the book. however the rest of the stories were not a let down. It was nice to see how each brother's story took place shortly after one another so we got to see all of their lives progress within the book.

I liked all 4 stories but I think the oldest brother, Cole, was my favorite. Who couldn't love a guy who put aside everything to raise his 3 younger brothers. It's about time he found love and Sophie is perfect! I loved her "twin sister". I'm sure everyone has thought about trying to pull that off atleast once in their lifetime.

I like romance but I prefer a real story, real plot, real progression of characters, etc. This consists of three novellas and one full length story. Only the full length feels "developed," all the stories feel "clunky" to me. I didn't appreciate any of them as much as I would have liked. Still, the romance is gooey, the sex is hot, and the stories work as quick candy...

Ok so I got swooped in on this whole romance thing. The truth is I really enjoyed this book which contain 3 novellas and 1 novel. The novellas where good and I feel that you need to read them first before you read Wild. Wild was really good but it was not a surprise as to who was behind the vandalism and break-ins. This was a quick and light read full of a lot of steamy romance.

Loved this collection of novellas. Each of the brothers is so different and the women who capture their hearts are just as unique. I liked the fact that Lori someone included a ghost story, a mystery, a family of gypsies, an older woman/younger man relationship and a "dominant" male all in the same edition :)

I enjoyed all 4 of these novellas. I will say that some of these stories were very scifi. I mean ghost, telepathy, gypsies? I usually don't like that kind of stuff but it was ok and was enjoyable. I like Lori Foster but sometimes it can get a little strange. Defineately worth the time. Look forward to the next books in the Winston series.
