The heroine:Melanie - she is Fae and is aware of her powers, but for some reason her family has kept a lot from her and refuses to tell her why. She keeps it secret that she knows about her powers.
The Hero(es):Dr. Thaddeus Green - a doctor who was scratched by a black panther shifter and turned. He is the brains of the Immortal Ops and his panther DNA was used to create Lance so they were brothers because of that. Green was married to a human named Elizabeth who died giving birth to their child 60 years ago. That is how the Immortal Ops found out they can’t mate with humans.
The Story: Green has trouble distinguishing between Melanie and Elizabeth. It doesn’t help that Elizabeth is Melanie’s middle name and Melanie calls him Thaddy like Elizabeth used to. To make things worse, a dark fae named Ferdian is after Melanie.
The book was sizzling hot and the narration was on point. This guy is getting better at using different inflections and voices as the series goes on. This one had a strange storyline. The powers of the fae are strange and I don’t really understand them.
Ferdian is a good bad guy and his story is all tangled up with Green’s story. I won’t go into the intricacies of the stories because I don’t want to spoil things, but it certainly is a crazy mix and very interesting. The funny thing is that I am really liking Wilson, the rat shifter from Immortal ops. Though sometimes he does act like a rat, it is a lovable one for sure.
Blah. Probably more like 1 - 1.5 stars. Only 2 stars because I liked the Fae magic parts.
I liked Melanie, but I felt like her possible awesomeness was held back and never let to come out & kick ass. That was sad, I like murderous chicks.
Thad Green was a dope. They kept saying he was a genius, but you see none of that. He warbles between being a wimpy pansy ass to a caveman. I didn't like this, and I hated his wimpy side. It wasn't the shy nerd type, it was straight up ineffectual idiot.
The plot was idiotic and confusing. I hated the plot with Elizabeth. It was super annoying and rather a disservice to the characters. No plot to speak of here. A disappointment in many regards. The Wilson jokes & Fae powers were the most interesting parts of the story. Otherwise, no.
I freaking love this series. Everything about it and the action rocks my world. When I stop reading these books I will finally review all these aggressively.
Third book in the Immortal Ops series and Mandy Roth got me definitely hooked 🤗. The first 2 chapters made me hold my breath 🙊 and didn't even realized it. The story got me engaged right from the beginning of the story to the very last words written. Different plot this time as well 😊 Also, both Melanie and Green each had a turn to fight their own battles.. I really enjoyed the story. It was well written and fun to read. Can't wait for Wilson's book 🐀
I really enjoyed this one. Maybe more than the first. The amount of thought the author had to come up with a story like this. I mean a fairy being put in someone else to keep them safe. It's nuts but its a great storyline. I liked to see Dr Green come a little more unhinged and show more raw emotion then we saw in the previous books. I loved Melanie she was a sweetie and she was strong and fierce. At times she drove me crazy. Green and her needed to learn to communicate more.
A reincarnated fairy lover and a were-panther, genius, paramilitary type that echos The Beast from The X-Men. I just couldn't get into this one as much and spent some time just skimming through whole sections. And skimming was pretty easy to do, considering the large amounts of dialogue, particulary when the I-Ops were surrounded by danger - hey, let's just hang out and shoot the shit some more, you know? Why bother noticing those nasty looking types dressed in black ski masks? Let's get all our feelings out in the open.
I think a little break from Ms. Roth might be in order.
Okay, this one is all kind of messed up, but I love it. My heart breaks for these characters as they bare the consequences of other people’s actions. Thaddeus Green is such a great man and a total book boyfriend. I really enjoyed seeing how it would all play out for him and his mate!
This was my favorite book in this series thus far! The character development of Green, That, and of Melanie was phenomenal. We get to go through the whole reason why Green seemed to be attracted to Melanie in the first place, his deceased wife. There are so many twists and turns in this book it took me back a bit, I had to really focus and re-read because I could not believe what I was reading. I was holding my breath at certain points because I just could not believe it. I was so happy with how their story together unfolded. By the end it really tied up the loose ends that had me confused.
Now I am going to go and read the next because I have to see what happens with Wilson. I really like his character. He is on the receiving end of lots of jokes but he takes it with a laugh. He is also one of the reasons everything worked out so well for Green.
Radar Deception is book three of the Immortal Ops military paranormal romance series.
This is the story of Green and Melanie and how they finally became a couple after a will they-won't they struggle.
This story had lots of background explanations for both of the main character's lives which was a large part of this story. This meant that the tale from the overall series only move forward a short way.
Although I liked the couple's story, I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first two in the series.
This was my favorite one from the 4 books. It was nice to feel all the emotions of Wilson and Kim but I still couldn't click to well. It just seems like all the people in these books are perfect and nothing can stop them. The fact that they are all such killing machines but keep getting caught out by the professor seems annoying.
This was okay but I keep facilitating between two and three stars and I'm going to go with two because it simply was not better than the last one. There are a lot of the same problems from the last book. The same confusing scenarios and character evolutions that make no sense. I had high hopes for this one being better because authors often get better as they continue to get to know their characters but not with this series. I just cannot relate to the constant shifts of personality within characters one second vulnerable and the next aggressively independent and uncharacteristically confrontational. And this is not a comment on the whole Melanie Elizabeth dynamic; even if you separate the two this is a Melanie-Melanie problem, don't even get me started on the Elizabeth-Elizabeth nonsense. There just seems to be so much useless information given about this "relationship" and none of the important things that would have made this story so much more. I felt like a lot was skipped time wise and relationship wise and most importantly history wise. I felt lost, as if there were several chapters missing that would have solidified these characters for me and made the character's decisions make sense.
There is only one more book left so I hope that everything will come together because I keep reading because of the massive amount of potential that this series could have if only there was someone there editing the author, asking the right questions, challenging her to write more and providing some clarity when it comes to plot development and character evolution.
First I want to start by saying I really like this series. That being said this is my least favorite book so far. I just could not connect with the characters for some reason. I found them difficult to like for many reasons. But I am sure there will be many who adore them.
That aside the story is really great. Wonderfully paced with out any awkward lulls. MS. Roth once again did a wonderful job of drawing the reader in with mixed narrative and teases of the next book. I am super exited for the next story and ready to jump right in!
The steam factor here is again very nice. Plenty of hot and heavy to keep a gal warm!
Read in the 2016 Anniversary edition box set. Not my favourite story in this series. I enjoyed spending time with everyone and it was great having Eaden joining in. Loved Melanie’s dad too. The silliness of the Elizabeth part just made me roll my eyes. Her actions and the fact she was apparently this all encompassing bada** warrior of legions but can’t stop herself from being forcibly married and then beaten by her husband. I just can’t believe she didn’t just lop off Ferdian’s head. The male stupidity of Green was phenomenal, he really does put his big foot right in it, rather than use his brilliant brain to communicate. I laughed when the girls wanted to throw him out of the plane. Not sure what I think of Melanie. Her need for lots of sex is explained but I still felt uncomfortable with the sheer amount of men she has been with. Then we have the fact she is a powerful Fae. She has also been friends with Missy and Peren for ages, but doesn’t pick up they are both different since meeting their mates. She was quite obtuse on a lot of matters. Poor Wilson, given such a hard time by everyone but he was willing to give up his life for Melanie. Read and reviewed years ago but previous reviews missing. No hardship to reread in the anniversary box set edition before I catch up with the later books I have not yet read.
3rd in the series, this is a novella length supernatural OPs story. This is Green's & Melanie's story.
I was intrigued at first, thinking this was a reincarnation story. It's more complicated than that. It turns out Green's former wife (who died) was actually Melanie's aunt. Melanie is fae. Somehow they merged her aunt's soul to Melanie's when she was born, but managed to keep them separate. I know, it's confusing. It was actually working for me, until the aunt/dead wife becomes evil (!) & they have to get rid of her. This happens out of the blue, so I'm thinking it's just a plot device to get rid of her. Before this, we get the same "pushing her away for her own good" crap that gets so old. Melanie as it turns out, is pretty slutty too, so there's a lot to get past. Also, Green is so huge, he almost splits her in half (not a sexy image).
My feelings on this one are about the same as the first book. It's ok, but not that great. There's also a cliffhanger ending.
Green is a werepanther who’s falling for Melanie, the BF of his brothers–in-arms mates, the sister of a new team member and who is mourning the death of a fallen brother. For now all he can do is keep silent, but his panther is making that harder and harder.
Meanwhile, keeping the teams paranormal secret is getting more complicated as they try to shut down illegal and immoral experimentation being done using paranormal DNA on humans. And they can’t even trust their own people.
This is one of the craziest storylines I’ve ever come across. Melanie is nuts and her story is so complicated I had trouble figuring it out. I had to write it down to disentangle it and still got mixed up. I can’t imagine what Green and the others thought. And I hate the way the treat Wilson. He’s supposed to be a brother.
Footnote: 1) No matter that the men in this story are strong warriors, it’s the women who are the most powerful and dominate.
Radar Deception (Immortal Ops #3) Like the others is full of drama and action, sexy and hot alphas with their sweet hot and spicy women who are all paranormal beings. The dynamics and bonds within the team are more prevalent in this story and the strength they get from each other and their mates. There is still plenty of laughs to be had.
Thaddeus Green is still grieving for his dead wife who died whilst trying to give birth. Now after so long his heart starts to beat again due to a certain Fae who is around all the time. He is a quiet man but he comes out of his shell as the story progresses and his sexy side comes out.
Melanie Daly is a Fae but this knowledge has been withheld from everyone to try and keep her safe from a monster. But now that the monster has returned will she be safe. More importantly will the Team be able to keep her safe?
If you're a shifter fan with military men and magic then you will love this series just as much as I do.
As more details unfold of the Immortal Ops and their mates the more and more the desire to keep reading this series is instilled in me...Melanie and her girls believe that Wilson is still alive, although, he was shot several times and lost a massive amount of blood trying to save his friend Mel and his brothers' mate...but the men think he did not survive because of the blood loss - but the female intuition knows better and the girls will track Wilson down with the help of Melanie sexy brother will track Wilson down and save him because he is an amazing friend. But the question lies will Wilson survive this torture as well as find his mate during this process and will another secret of the immortal ops and their mates are reveal...So I leave you with: What will happen next? Will they find Wilson? Why didn't they listen to Melanie that Wilson is still alive? All these unanswered questions and I am dying to find the answer - book 4 here I come...
Dr. Thaddeus Green was a very likable werepanther an absolute hot genius. This is the love story of Melanie "Mel" Daly and Thaddeus "Green & Thaddy" Green. I absolutely love this book. It was hilarious throughout book having me laugh and cry. It seems the strong, silent, and genius guys makes the best love stories. He had a sad past that troubled him for sixty years. You will enjoy how his past unfolds and you'll love him even more. Mel was an interesting character that is so unpredictable and emotional at the same time. She give her friends, family and I-Ops team and oh course us as sudden wake op call about her. Some interesting bombshells that happens to reveal more about her. Her life was a total They were absolutely perfect for each other. Tailor made! And I got my HEA and that included babies. I enjoyed seeing the relationship grow and for both of them to find love.
This was more confusing than anything else. I truly don’t understand how magical beings, especially family can hide their knowledge of magic from each other. I’m still trying to grasp how three best friends like Peren, Missy and Melanie could not tell about their magical sides from one another. Same goes for the rest.
Melanie was obviously a brilliant person, why she dumbed herself down to supposedly please others was beyond me. At times everyone knew about everyone and at others it’s like they conveniently forgot. It was weird, as was Green Melanie’s relationship. First he was madly in love with his deceased wife, then he claims not to have loved her all that much because he found Melanie whom he really was in love with...sighs..men are stupid.
Then why the four-star review? As good as this book is (and it really is), it was a little bizarre. Cannot explain without spoiling, so I will leave it at that.
However, I seriously and sincerely recommend it. Because those shifters (and one fae) are fantastic characters and Mandy M. Roth is an incredible storyteller. What I found confusing enough to give a four-star review rather than a five, would've been a one-star review for the majority of other authors. That's how skilled a storyteller she is, how compelling the story was, how great the action, and how relatable the characters.
A good read.
Now? On to Wilson's story! I never thought I'd say this someday, but gosh, I love that rat shifter!
A one night stand turns Melanie’s world upside down and things get rough. Confused by her attraction to a friend of her one night stand and her childhood imaginations becoming real is just the start of it. To smart for his own, Green tries to keep his distance when he can’t keep his past and his future from blurring. Things get complicated and hot hot hot. Will they get there heads out of their butts and figure it out or will being stubborn be the end? Or the crazy past that’s come knocking? Guess your gonna have to read it to find out. They are standalone books with in a series. Each book is a different couples story but they go in order. They kind of end on a cliffhangers and the clue as to who’s story is next. Narrator remains the same and does a good job.
Thaddeus Green was bit by a panther and is now a werepanther. He works for I-OPs and is a doctor in genetics. He lost his wife many years ago and planned on never having a mate. Melanie is a fae and is known as a party girl. She is getting sicker by the hour and Green believes by mating her, he can save her. When a powerful fae tries to take Melanie, Green wants to protect her but Melanie will have to defeat him alone. I really didn’t know what to write because I didn’t want to give anything away but also it is a little confusing. Action, shifters, secrets, and sex. I think you need to read the others first and I didn’t. Also it does have a cliffhanger.
This was a bit of a rollercoaster ride, and I was glad to stay with it till the end, and on to the next book. There was more traditional romance in this one rather than the more detailed" interactions" of two lovers, but it didn't make it any less that the previous books in the series. There are the usual cliff hanger ending of chapters that made me stay up way too late when I should have been sleeping before going to work the next day. As with the other books we learn more about the world of magical beings who live hidden from us while to more character overcome a range of challenges to connect with their soul mate.
Dr. Thaddeus Green was once human he survived a werepanther attack making him immortal and changing his body but the change killed his wife before she could give birth to his child so he has spent the last 60 years along, he works in the immortal ops team. Melanie Daly is a Fae holding a secret and because of it her father has kept anything more then the human world to a minimum. She knows of the fae but nothings else nor has she told her friends about herself. Her best friend are Peren and missy. Both girls are mated to members on the immortal ops team. (Stories are in book 1&2 of the series) Melanie had a one night stand with one of the immortal ops members who got killed right afterwards and since then she has grown weaker. Green has wanted Melanie since he first saw her but his teammate slept with her first. His feelings for her hasn't changed but he does struggle with his memory of the lose of his first wife who died carrying his child. Can these two work things out before an evil fae gets his hands on her or she dies carrying the secret. I loved this one! Great action, drama and spice ! Loved the characters and thier interaction. Too funny! I never thought Green the smart guy would make so many mistakes with his mate! Lol If you're a shifter fan, love magic and / or military / black ops stories this will be the perfect fit for you.
I think this has been my favorite of the series so far. The steamy scenes definitely were! I enjoyed reading about both characters, especially Green! He kept to himself more than the first two male leads. It was great seeing Melanie break down his barriers. I absolutely love how the team treated Green after he misled Melanie. Serves him right! I had a hard time keeping track of which world we were in here and there. I'm looking forward to reading the next of the series!
Reading this as the 4 book omnibus. Would have been 1.5 stars rounded up to 2 (as with the first ones), if not for the incorrect use of the word "literally": “At least not when I’m about to stick my neck on the line—literally." Something that should have at the very least have been picked up in the beta read/editing stage. Kinda added to the unpolished feel of the book. Plot and characterisation jumped all over the place, making this a not-enjoyable read.
This is the third in the immortal Ops series and by now, I’ve grown to really like, even love, some of the characters. Wilson is one of my favourites and this book shows us a lot more about him, that convinces us he’s actually a lot more than just the funny guy. We also get to learn lots about Green’s history and his connection To Mel, as well as her clouded history. Lots of fun, though some strands were a bit confusing
