Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner

Rate this book
The perfect pick me up romcom for fans of Beth O’Leary, Sophie Kinsella and Sophie Ranald!
Sally is a classic romantic and Harry is a classic cynic, but when a drunken bet leads the new flatmates to (badly) recreate ‘the lift’ from Dirty Dancing, and the video goes viral (#EpicRomcomReenactmentFailure), they both realise there’s potential financial benefit in blundering their way through the romcom lexicon for their suddenly vast social media following.

Now, as Harry and Sally bring major romcom moments to new life – including recreating that classic diner scene – their faking it turns to making…out and suddenly they’re living a real life romcom of their own! But like all the greatest love stories, the road to happily ever after is paved with unexpected challenges for this hero and heroine…

Some days a racing heart is a medical condition, others it’s the reaction to a hunky hero…

I’ve two teenage boys and a husband who asks every Valentine’s Day whether he has to bother buying a card again this year (yes, he does) so the romance in my life is all in my head. Then again, my husband’s unstinting support of my career change goes to prove that love isn't always about hearts and flowers - and heroes can come in many disguises

Sally & Harry
Sally believes wholeheartedly in romance, the happily ever after and feeling all the fuzzies that go along with love. She saw it every day with her parents until they were tragically killed when she was 16. She grew up quickly and had to take care of her younger sister, Amy, and still continues to do so even though she's an adult. Amy was really annoying me, but I'm happy that she slowly got her act together.

Harry didn't grow up with the best role models as parents, which turned him off to believing love exists. "He knew he wasn't everyone's cup of tea ~ sarcastic, blunt, stubborn, hard headed" me too Harry, me too! But you can’t help but feel bad about what he went through. His parents were pretty awful.

I grew up in the good ole 90's, so the romcom mentions from then were the typical ones. I have never watched When Harry Met Sally, so like, Harry, I had to google the infamous restaurant scene. You won't ever catch me making videos on TikTok, but I've been known to watch some once in awhile. I bet the ones they made would be an adorable hoot to watch.

For every likable character there were just as many unlikable ones, which helped round out the story. It's a little on the longer side, has a cutesy title and fun cover, and I had a great time reading it.

update: I'm watching 'When Harry Met Sally' for the first time (yes, yes, I know, I haven't watched it before, don't boo me) and oh my god the main couple of this book's personalities are so them. I 100% understand why the author named them Harry and Sally <3.

---
‘Not an expert, not even close, not in any of this. But nobody will try harder than me to make you happy.’

↪ plot:

One night, after some drinks, roommates Harry and Sally are watching one of Sally's favorite movies and he mentions how convinced he is that they can pull one of the scenes from her romantic movies, and they drunkenly try the iconic lift from Dirty Dancing. Sally posts it on TikTok for fun, but when they go viral and realize they can earn some extra money from these videos, they decide to keep going. And the more scenes they recreate, the more complicated their feelings get.

↪ thoughts:

I will always love the hopeless romantic x cynic pairing, and this time was not the exception. Harry and Sally gave me everything I asked for in that trope.
"He raised his eyes to the ceiling, his smile growing wider. ‘What the hell are you doing to me?’ The way her heart somersaulted at the sight of his smile, she wanted to ask herself the same question."
Sally loves romance and romcoms, and she's convinced that the right man for her is out there, I loved how she didn't shy away from saying it. She wants an epic romance and she's sure she'll get one. But she'll realize that her "epic romance" will be slightly different than what she expected and that there's nothing wrong with that. She's so sweet and incredibly resilient after everything she's been through, and deserved all the love she got from Harry.
‘Oh.’ She’d tried to be discreet. ‘I didn’t think you’d noticed.’ He gave her a loaded look. ‘I notice everything about you.’
Harry is a complete cynic when it comes to love. He doesn't believe in it because he has never experienced or seen it. His parents' marriage is a mess, his ex cheated on him and keeps pestering him, and they all see him as someone they could benefit from, not someone they actually care about. With Sally, he'll learn what being loved and loving someone feels like, but it'll take him time.
"That fantasy of yours? Her breath caught as he held up the last card. You make me want to give it to you."
Harry and Sally can't help but to slowly fall in love while recreating all these romantic gestures, but also while fully getting to know each other in between them. It's hard for Harry to believe himself worthy of Sally's love, and to identify how loving someone feels like, and it takes Sally some time to recognize that Harry might not belong in the mold she expected her "right man" to be part of, but that doesn't make him less right for her.
"‘Remember this is me though, not whichever romantic heartthrob you’re thinking of right now.’ She slipped off the stool and pressed a kiss to his cheek. ‘You’re the only heartthrob I’m thinking of.’ And damn if that didn’t make his heart do a crazy dance in his chest."
Their journey to falling in love had me smiling and rooting for them. Their chemistry was there from the beginning, and it turned into something beautiful once they let their feelings out. They had so many thoughts and responsibilities to free themselves from, and it got me all emotional to see them do it and let themselves receive all the love they deserved. Truly a very special read

Though, it's not a 5-star because there were a couple of things that annoyed me: (1) Sally's man-hating bff pissed me off every time she opened her mouth, like, I understand you hate men and all that blah blah blah, but how is that Sally's problem? why do you have to diminish and cheapen every single thing Harry does for her?; and (2) Harry's ex definitely didn't get what she deserved because she should've ended up in jail for what she did. Those are the two things I didn't like about this book, but it didn't take me completely off it; it was still a beautiful story.

---
↪ pre-review thoughts:

she's a romcom-loving girlie, they're roommates who fall in love while recreating iconic romcom scenes... what more could i ask for? i adored this and it got me all in my feels. more in-depth rtc.

Dirty Dancing is one of my absolute favourite movies, so course I had to read this! The cover and title alone brings me joy.

When new roommates Sally and Harry film their reenactment of the memorable Baby & Johnny lift (I legitimately laughed out loud while reading this scene), they unexpectedly go viral, sparking an idea to continue bringing popular rom-com moments to life on social media.

This story was filled, and I mean filled, with nostalgic movie scenes! It was so, so fun.

With Harry being a love cynic and Sally searching for her soulmate, these opposing roommates brought so much fiery tension as they attempt to ignore their mutual attraction!

Harry was a big man with a down-to-earth personality, and I loved seeing him adorably confused by his growing feelings for Sally. It's a lot of push and pull between them, but their dialogue was incredibly addictive. There's a perfect amount of depth to their personalities, too.

All the warm fuzzies while reading this one! A book truly made for rom-com lovers!

(heat level: a few open-door scenes, moderate details)

While the cover and premise of Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner are absolutely adorable, ultimately, the actual story and writing felt quite underdeveloped. I won't nag on this book, as I'm sure it will be perfect for many people's taste, but for me it felt like it leaned a bit too far into to the cheesiness of its prompt.

My name is Britt and I’m a romcom addict. A few of my favorites include Always Be My Maybe, 27 Dresses, 10 Things I Hate About You, and When Harry Met Sally. Nothing gets my heart fluttering better than a quick-witted conversation full of sexual innuendos, the smart one making the grumpy one fall to his/her knees, and a wonderful HEA.

That’s why I jumped at the chance to read Nobody Puts Romcoms In The Corner. As a lover of love, this premise sounded so good to me. I’ve read a couple books lately that I was looking for this vibe with that ultimately just fell flat, but I had high hopes this would be the one to satisfy me.

So did I get the HEA I was looking for? Let’s find out!

What I liked about the book:
1. I kind of know what I’m talking about when it comes to Romcoms, so believe me when I say, Kathryn Freeman NAILED IT! This had the perfect mixture of friction, comedy, and swoon. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that more perfectly invoked those same feelings I get when I watch a good romcom. I was so giddy reading this the entire time, that I could not put it down!

2. I loved that we got to see such rich characters in our MCs.

While Sally may have been the lover of all things love, she was also fierce and strong. What the book pointed out so well is just because someone loves love, doesn’t mean they’re blind to reality. We love the HEA, but we realize life is not a fairy tale by any means, we just want the zaps and tingles, or “fuzzies” and “bells”. IS THAT SO MUCH TO ASK?!?! I loved the realistic take on this as a cynic with a love of romcoms.

Likewise, Harry was a true enigma himself and I loved it. With his outer shell of cynicism and sarcasm, it’s easy to bypass his soft-heart and protective nature of those he truly loves. For a guy so convinced love doesn’t exist, he sure did fall pretty hard for our leading lady pretty fast ❤️

Above all else, they had truly sizzling chemistry! I totally bought it that these two were meant to be from the very beginning and the happy butterflies in my tummy and I loved watching it play out!

3. Of course I loved the mix in with social media and the reenactment fails. Reading these scenes having the actual ones in my mind had me laughing so hard! It took the best moments of romcoms and poked fun at them, but still pushed our MCs into real love which was my ultimate hope and dream for this beautifully opposite couple.

4. Spin off potential! It’s there, you all, and I can’t wait to see if Kathryn expands on this group! I can just see something between Amy and Jack. MARK MY WORDS!

5. I did not realize when I requested this book that it was SUPER British. That’s kinda on me, knowing the publisher is HarperCollins UK 🤦🏼‍♀️. There were definite times I had to reread things to understand what the author was trying to tell me, but once I got into it, it was just such a quaint little addition to the story I really enjoyed. I loved all the phrases and imagining their English accents. Ultimately, it gave this story an extra little pop.

6. Finally, we got a couple doses of body positivity for Sally, who was not plus size but also not stick-thin. I loved that this was incorporated given the social media involved, but also Harry's take on it was so heartwarming.

What could have been better:
1. It would have been nice to have more background into both of the hard parts of their lives. I felt like except for the mediation points for Harry, we didn’t learn too much about his backstory from more than him just telling us. Same with Sally, there was a lot of history there with her and her sister that wasn’t explored as much as I had hoped. I think this story really could have benefitted from at least one flashback for each MC giving us a little more detail and connecting us more to their plights.

Final Rating: 4.5 stars!

Thank you to HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter, and Kathryn Freeman for the free copy of this ARC. The opinions expressed above are honest and voluntary.

I loved this story! It was fun and funny and heart-warming, and the love story is wonderful. Harry and Sally (how perfect is that?!) have such a fantastic roommates, friends-to-lovers, opposites attract romance. Sally is a hopeless romantic who believes in soul mates and loves love. She watches rom-coms and hopes for her own happily ever after, and she is the sunshine to Harry’s grump. Harry is more of a cynic. He doesn’t believe in love, soul mates, or any of the other romantic stuff Sally lives for.

As much as Harry doesn’t think he can ever live up to the standards put in place by rom-com heroes, Harry is pretty swoon-worthy. Just the fact that he agrees to reenact famous scenes from popular rom-coms is swoon-worthy, but he does so many other things that give him rom-com hero vibes. This book is a delight for anyone who enjoys rom-com movies or ever thought it would be a good idea to reenact some of the most famous scenes in rom-com history, including the lift in Dirty Dancing, the clay scene from Ghost, the fake orgasm scene from When Harry Met Sally (hilarious!!!), and more for TikTok. Oh my gosh, these scenes are fantastic, and I love how Sally and Harry put their own little spins on each. Some of the scenes are uproariously funny, others are cringey, and more are romantic and lovely.

Though the story is light and swoony, it deals with some heavier topics too, including strained sibling relationships, divorce, grief, and troubled relationships. Sally and Harry have baggage, and Harry especially has walls built up. He has great friendships, but he hesitates to let romantic interests in. Considering he is a mediator in his parents’ loveless marriage and he’s been cheated on, this isn’t surprising.

Sally bases her beliefs on her parents’ relationship, even though they died when she was a teenager. I like how both characters have revelations about love, romance, and deeply committed relationships. Sally teaches Harry what love is, and Harry shows Sally more about love when the cameras aren’t rolling. The small, day-to-day ways you show someone you care are as poignant and touching as the bigger, grand gestures. And some of the things he says to her prove he’s way more romantic and in love than he realizes.

I also really liked the friend groups in the story. Sally has two friends that are the best, and Harry’s friends are so funny. I love the banter and teasing and how supportive they all are of each other. Harry and Sally are really lucky to have friends like these even though they go a little overboard in their fierce protectiveness or overabundance of teasing.

If Sally and Harry were real and had this TikTok channel, I would totally subscribe! Their chemistry is off the charts, and their love story is funny, uplifting, and romantic with tons of laugh-out-loud moments, sexy times, and touching scenes.

Special thanks to NetGalley, Rachel’s Random Resources, and One More Chapter for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

I won't lie, title and the cover sold me on this book immediately, and who doesn't love a grumpy/sunshine trope? And while the book started quickly and got right into the story, it didn't live up to its potential.

While I loved the idea of their first Tiktok video (failing THE LIFT from Dirty Dancing after too many margaritas is hilarious), the instant shift to "let's recreate rom com scenes seriously so we can make money" really put me off. First, one viral video does not guarantee future content success, so putting hope in Tiktok to make money seems short-sighted. Second, they were attempting to make serious recreations but didn't take them seriously?? They claimed their audience wanted steamy when it was comedy that blew up. It just didn't make sense.

Tiktok aside, I also couldn't get into the characters. At 50% through, they still barely knew each other and I just can't fathom living with someone and never asking any personal questions. It was all just too surface level, and no one ever communicated. And okay, while I know Sally is the sunshine character, I found her to be way too naive and inauthentically ~ quirky ~.

All in all, there's a lot of promise, but I don't think the heavy Tiktok plot will help this book age well, and these characters could definitely benefit from more up-front back stories.

this. this absolutely PAINS ME because i had literally the highest hopes EVER for this book. the concept was THERE i just couldn’t get into the execution 😭.

i also just felt like for a book centred around TikTok, it wasn’t particularly well researched. community guidelines would have had a field day with some of these videos 😂😂.

i’m so sad because i REALLY wanted to love this. i just think the pairing weren’t right for each other. miss girl lowered her standards so much 😂.

moral of this story. watch a million romcoms, but still take the absolute bare minimum from a guy who won’t put you first just in case he MIGHT fall in love with you 🤠

2.5 ⭐️ 1.5🌶️. enjoy my thoughts while reading:

- oh we’re getting right on INTO it 🙌🏼

- the overnight tiktok stats ain’t it sis that’s not how it works with that amount of views 😂

- her sister’s an ass

- this ghost scene is gonna be goooood

- SLAY SALLY you tell her

- oh this shower scene would get taken down by community guidelines SO fast 😂

- this man has NO right to be jealous of other men in sally’s life when he literally told her multiple times that he can’t give her what she wants and has an expiration date on their hookups

- imma pummel his ex gf wtf 😡😡

- also that vid would have been taken down for community guidelines in like 0.25 seconds irl 😂

- “i guess that’s the thing about love, it’s all a risk”.

Any book with a nod to Dirty Dancing, and I gotta have it. Add main character names of Harry and Sally? I can't control myself. It's like all the good things come together for the perfect book.

Sally loves all things romance. Her flat mate, Harry, doesn't see the appeal. In a dare of sorts, Sally convinces Harry to reenact the lift for Dirty Dancing What starts as a random post on social media, quickly spirals and goes viral. Harry and Sally continue acting out iconic scenes from romance movies. But acting mixes with reality and the kissing moves off screen.

This was such a great romcom, perfect for those enamored with romance movies. The attraction between the two were electrifying. Their banter fun, swoony and sexy. What I loved most of all is that was a realistic depiction of love.

This is my second book by Kathryn Freeman, and I am a forever fan and need to read ALL of her books.

My first five star book of the year. And if you know me, I am stingy with my five star ratings! I adored this one! It gave me all the feels and I absolutely loved Harry!! I am always a fan of a grump and Harry was no exception except he was a piece of coal who turned into a diamond.
Sally puts an ad out for a roommate and Harry is looking for a place to stay when his girlfriend cheats on him and refuses to move out of his house. Sally is a huge romcom fan, and one night, on a drunken bet, they recreate the lift from Dirty Dancing and their friends record and and upload it their failure to TikTok and it goes viral. Sally sees the potential to monetize her love of romcoms by them recreating more famous scenes. Reluctantly, Harry goes along with it because he could use the money as well, and as they spend more time together, their relationship evolves into more than just landlord and tenant. But Harry doesn’t believe in love and Sally wants an epic love that last a lifetime. Can they meet somewhere in the middle?
This is was fun, swoony, made me laugh, made me cry, and I loved reminiscing over romantic comedies I haven’t seen in ages-especially Never Been Kissed!

This was a cute, lighthearted romance that romcom movie lovers would absolutely appreciate. All of the romcom movie references were my favorite part. Harry and Sally (yes those are their names) had good chemistry even if it was a bit cheesy at times. Overall, it was enjoyable even if it might not be your most memorable romance read.

Cute rom com book. It is a perfect story for rom-com lovers as there are so many talked about in this book. There are definitely the romancy, cute, lovey parts and some smut throughout the book. It is cheesy, but who wants a rom com that isn't.

To be completely honest, I have no idea what possessed me to request this ARC, but I'm... so glad I did.

Listen. The plot synopsis promises TikToks, recreating famous romcom scenes and a spice rating of two red pepper emojis, which is fine, but not something I'd normally reach for. Grumpy-sunshine I can get behind and that was pretty much it.

I was not prepared to feel this many things at once. A book that makes me feel angry for the MC right at the start is cheating because my interest immediately skyrockets and I need to see it resolved. Paired with the dialogue, I was hooked.

Then there was a major dip when the whole TikTok thing started and it was hard to believe the video they made, as it was, gained so much traction, but then again I'd definitely not be the target audience for their whole shtick, so who knows.

My interest and liking of this book pingponged so much while reading I'm having an extremely hard time putting my thoughts down. I loved the banter, but then it would get cringy, and then pick up again. The smut was both questionable and amazing. Sally would be my personal nightmare to text with. Harry is an angel considering all he went through and I really appreciated it. I wanted to physically fight multiple characters and shake both Sally and Harry multiple times. I heavily related to both of them in aspects that hit a bit too close to home.

There was depth I didn't expect and most importantly, it kept me coming back to read more and I have to admit the whole TikTok thing drove the plot to interesting places and conversations and kept things going where there would usually be a lull. I really can't be mad, it was an overall fun time.

Thank you to One More Chapter and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Romance | Grumpy x Sunshine

Who doesn’t love a good RomCom? Put a Romcom lover and a grumpy man into a book and viola you get Freeman’s book!

Sally needs money and Harry needs a place to stay what a perfect combination! Sally’s need for money results in her getting Harry to star in TikTok videos recreating iconic RomCom scenes.

I. Love. The. Concept. I could see this actually happening on TikTok and imagine followers being so involved wanting to see more scenes, wanting to know about the true relationship behind the people on their screen.

Freeman excels at having two characters start the book with such defined personalities, that have their own important flaws, then overtime slowly transform. Each character’s background allowed for them to gradually understand their flaws and need for change.

The whole book has you rooting for Sally and Harry to be a swoon worthy romcom couple - even if some friends have their doubts!

Overall, this is a lighthearted romcom read with two characters you want the best for.

I feel mean giving this a 2.5 ⭐️ review. Honestly, I thought I was going to love this book. It has great reviews, it’s about romcoms- it seemed like a shoe in. But it felt slow and a bit repetitive with the romcom make believe. I was annoyed that Harry couldn’t just get over his ridiculous lack of communication and I don’t feel like it dug deep enough into the emotional side of how much his parents really screwed him up. One thing that really annoyed me is Sally was so patient the.whole.book. Even when the story hits its climax (at like 86% 😫) she’s still just weepy and not totally angry. She forgives him for everything and never really sticks up for herself and it just felt not real. The ending felt really cheesy too. It was a struggle for me. I think I wanted more from the characters. More depth. Clearly I’m missing something because soooo many people loved it. Thanks @NetGalley for the opportunity to read this!

I just couldn't do it. It is super cheesy and I can already tell it will be super predictable.
Nothing against the book, if I was in the mood for a super easy light read I may pick this one up again and give it another try, but it was just too simple for me right now.

I found this book to be an easy read. It was funny, simple, and really cute. I enjoyed it a lot, a solid Rom-Com. I wish I would have known that it was part of a series, but it read fine as a stand-alone book. Maybe NetGalley could add that to their descriptions in the future.

When Harry met Sally and literally every other great romcom there is…

Firstly I want to start off by saying that I annoyed the HECK out of this book on my kindle. I’m going to need the physical copy ASAP so I can annotate properly!!

I ADORED this book!! Man, I felt the chemistry between Harry and Sally and that is exactly what I look for in a romance. Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner was hilarious, witty and swoon worthy the whole way through.

Kathryn Freeman is the only author that can make me enjoy third person romance, yep I said it.

From the get go, I thought it was so refreshing to see the MMC actually laugh and have a good time with both the FMC and his friends. It wasn’t exactly grumpy x sunshine but not exactly sunshine x sunshine - the characters just felt like normal, happy people, but with their own family issues going on behind the scenes.

The book references TikTok A LOT, well it pretty much centres around TikTok. Usually, this is something I would stay away from but the references weren’t cringey at all and I really enjoyed the TikTok aspects of the story!

The ONLY thing that bugs me in literally any book is when the author writes out an emoji (eg crying with laughter emoji, hearts instead of eyes emoji). But that took up about 0.001% of the book so I didn’t care too much.

Aw I really hope Harry and Sally last forever, they both deserve it after everything they’ve been through.

This book was very kindly sent to me as an ARC by One More Chapter in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a dream for this little lover of romcoms. It ticked some of my favourite trope boxes and with the lovely Sally as the leading lady and cynical Harry as the unwilling victim there was never any doubt that these two were deserving of a romcom all of their own.

In typical romantic fiction style the path to true love is never smooth and they hit a few bumps along the way. Those bumps being an ex who refuses to leave the house, a complicated sibling relationship, Harry’s warring parents and one very opinionated best friend called Kitty.

I loved that Sally was described as having her head in a romantic bubble but also having a backbone of steel. Women can be many things at the same time so I really appreciated that we could be shown as being soft hearted but also fierce, strong and entirely capable.

It was a joy to spot all the movie scenes and especially when Never been kissed was mentioned. Who didn’t love the pitchers mound scene and have a crush on that teacher?

So will Harry discover what it takes to be her romantic movie hero? Will Sally get her card in The Love Bean cafe window and more importantly her happy ever after?

The perfect read for Valentine’s Day this will put a glow in your heart and a smile on your face.

Sally co-owns a coffee shop with her friend, loves romcoms and is in serious amount of debt. Harry builds houses for a living, owns one himself (obvously 🙄), but can't live there, because his cheating ex lives there rent free and has no plans of moving out. So Harry rents a room in Sally's apartment.
He's never been in love, so romcom moments seem silly to him, for example - Dirty dancing "lift". So both of them film a video to prove that it is (or isn't) romantic. They put a video online and immediately it gets popular. So they figure thay would make more of the famous moments with their own twist on it and gain some money from posting videos on TikTok. And sudenly they're living a real life romcom of their own!

If you love romcoms, then this book is for you. You can even try to guess which movie are they gonna do next. As you might expect it's full of clichés, but still with few surprises. And as I already mentioned to the author @kathryn.freeman_author I had a bit of a crying sesh while reading this book. 😄 This is a fast read - read it in a day, so that says a lot.

Tiny bonus stars for mentioning @harrystyles a.k.a. Hazza and one of my favourite movies - Love, Rosie.🥰

Did this book prompt me to watch all the romcoms? Absolutely, it did. Was it also the CUTEST (that’s right, all caps) book to read in February? Of course! “Nobody Puts RomComs in the Corner” by Kathryn Freeman is about how Harry met Sally- wait, not that Harry and Sally! Sally happens to have a room open, and Harry is dealing with a messing break-up (his ex won’t leave his house), so he moves in. Sally has an idea to make money creating tiktoks of classic romcom scenes and ropes Harry in, but Harry might just be more of a romantic than he lets on.

This book is pretty much a what you see is what you get kind of situation. Harry and Sally complete a bunch of classic romcom scenes with slight twists and find themselves falling for each other in the process. It’s kind of like a nostalgic trip down romcom lane. I feel like even if you haven’t seen all the movies in this book, you’ve at least seen one and this book will make you want to watch it.

In the end, this book was a great February read. I gave it a solid 4 stars!

Thanks to NetGalley and One More Chapter for an ARC in exchange for my honest review!

adored this book. I can't believe this is the first book by Kathryn Freeman I have read. I loved every romantic minute of it. Harry and Sally (yes you read that right) could not have been more swoonworthy. I loved Sally's quirkiness to Harry's blunt honesty. This is opposites attract, close proximity, grumpy/sunshine gold. As Sally would say this book gave me the 'Fuzzies' with a capital 'F'. Even with all the references to famous romantic comedies and reenactments of famous scenes I did not find it cheesy or childish. It was delightful and funny. If you are looking for a feel good hopeful, well written romance with fun characters look no further.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins publishers for allowing me to access an ARC of "Nobody puts Romcoms in a Corner" by Kathryn Freeman in exchange for my unbiased review. It was an absolute pleasure to read this novel and I adored it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a free e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sally and Harry becomes roommates after Harry’s ex cheats on him and refuses to move out of his house. Strapped for cash, Sally get Harry to agree make TikTok videos recreating iconic RomCom moments.

The story is filled with classic RomCom scenes. It was so much fun! Harry is a cynic when it comes to love, and Sally’s looking for her one true love. Not exactly on the same page when it comes to love. There ended up being a ton of fun banter, as they attempted to ignore the chemistry they had with each other. I was rooting for Sally and Harry the whole time.

I really enjoyed this story. It was an adorable read with a touch of spice! Check this book out if you like:

She believes in true love and absolutely adores romcoms. He doesn’t believe real love is a thing and finds romcoms unrealistic.
But they are meant to fall in love while bonding over the classic romcoms.

My expectations were really, REALLY, high because I absolutely adored a book from this author. And even though this book was nice, it was just that.

It felt too much insta love/lust for me. There’s definitely room to improve there, but the idea was fun.
The constant mention of social media apps and movies makes it feel more real.

I got this ARC by the publisher/author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for sending me this copy!

Rom com fans are naturally going to leap at the chance to read this. The rom com references were generous throughout and there’s plenty of movie nostalgia to be had, which I appreciated.

This was surprisingly sexy & the chemistry between the mains was good. I think I was a bit disappointed by the main conflict that was meant to drive the will-they-won’t-they? of the romance. I just didn’t think it was a strong enough reason to drive the wedge between the couple & I probably would have enjoyed a touch more drama.

Overall though, an enjoyable light romance and an interesting take on the grumpy/sunshine trope.

I received an e copy of this book via NetGalley & the publisher.

This was so freaking cute!! As a romcom lover, this was the perfect book for me. I have to say, Sally and Harry were sometimes a bit annoying with their strong beliefs, they felt repetitive at times. But in general, I loved the nostalgia in this story and their relationship is just beautiful. I just loved all the characters and everything that happened. They deserve their happy ever after.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the e-arc.

DNF at 34%. I had high hopes for this book. I was expecting a super cute homage to classic rom coms…that’s not really what I got. Yes, the book is kind of cute with the characters being named Harry and Sally, but it’s not a true homage to the rom com. It fell flat and it’s even a little boring. I wish it felt more lively or more fun.

i didn’t finish this book. did i only have less than 100 pages left? yes. could genuinely not stand it anymore and decided to dnf instead of shortly finishing it? YEA

omg this was soo obnoxious, annoying, and repetitive.

the beginning was sooo good and interesting, honestly. the whole idea of this book was sooo creative too yet it was heavily disappointing.

everything chapter said literally the same thing just in different ways in the end. and i couldn’t take it no more
✋🏻

maybe this is good. i don’t know, i didn’t really care enough to really find out. it’s a me problem, whoops. 😅

Absolutly loved it! It’s hilarious, romantic and heart warming!
Was smiling and laughing throughout the book and had a few tears towards the end! Defnitly one of my favorite romcoms ever. Looking forward to purchasing more of Kathryn’s books although I’ve also read the Italian job and loved that too highly recommend this book though ❤️
