In the woods, there's a house they say is haunted. Once you enter, you can never leave. In this house, your biggest dreams can become reality, and your worst vices can become dangerous addictions. Would you risk it?
When Savannah Miles comes into a sum of money, she decides to follow her life long dream and open her own thrift shop. The sweet looking house in the woods seems like the perfect place.
Except the house is filled with mystery, and three handsome men who have been stuck inside for decades. Felix, the original owner of the house, trapped for over a century. Luther, the 40-something postman whose search for the meaning of life led him to be stuck in the house since the 70's. And Theo, whose string of bad luck left him in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Different times. Different vices. Different lives. Can the four of them work together in life and love to find a way to survive?
Jinxed is an 18+ "Why Choose" that includes mild discussions of depression and addiction.
This is a super unique reverse harem that I overall enjoyed, however, I feel like it had so much more potential. The premise of being stuck in a cursed house and falling in love with the men who were stuck in there for decades is so different and I have never read anything like it. But, the writing and pacing left me wanting more. This is instalust to the extreme, I mean the FMC met all three of the men and got with two of them on the first day, then the last one within a few weeks. I would have loved some slow burn and tension but we get none of that, everything just felt surface-level. The house and the characters' backgrounds are revealed so fast and just left me wanting more depth to add to the plot. I just think this would have been so much better if it was 100 or so more pages; I'm bummed out just thinking about all the wasted potential!
okay, so… just as much as i loved the idea for this book… it did dissapoint me a bit. i just wish it would’ve been more complex and way longer. some slow-burn also wouldn’t hurt. it just all happened so quickly and there was no time for me to develop a bond with this book. when we found out that Luther is bi, i was hoping for some MM action with Theo maybe? (he seemed to be open enough to at least try). but the smut was A+!! definitely some hot stuff in here
You’re telling me you have three men who have been cursed and trapped in the house from very different eras but they all talk the same? Ok. There was a big missed opportunity here to give the character from the 1970s a very different feel and read than the one from 1903. The character interactions felt forced and this story just missed the mark for me.
I’m very disappointed because this concept has so many different ways you could take it, but the story was very simple and there was very very little plot. It was all sex all the time. The first thing the main character does when she finds out she is permanently stuck in this house with three other guys is to hook up with one of them in the basement. Bffr.
This story follows Savannah who buys a post victorian era house in order to start fresh. She has heard rumors that it is haunted but assumes that they are just old stories. Upon stepping into the house for the first time she finds that she cannot leave at all and that she is stuck with three other men.
Like I said before, I feel like there is a lot of opportunity with this storyline to have a lot of detail and to have super interesting characters. The men in the house are all from super different times periods like I think one is from 1907 and one is from the 70s and you probably wouldn’t know that if it wasn’t harped on every chance possible.
The characters interact very little outside of when they are hooking up which was just so damn annoying. It was so ridiculous that it ruined the book. There wasn’t even good chemistry and the story was kind of insta-love. No slow burn to be found here. I don’t think that this book should be marketed as a hunted house romance when the house isn’t haunted, it’s just cursed and there is absolutely no scary/ suspenseful parts. It is very predictable too.
I will also note that this book was pretty obviously self published. I don’t usually have any issue with that but there were frequent grammar mistakes and word repeats in sentences that got on my nerves. It was definitely readable but occasionally annoying.
This book made me fall in love even more with Torri’s writings. This book had magic and curses and smut, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭-𝘪𝘯-𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘢𝘨𝘦 🤍
I loved Savannah since the first page and “oh to hell with it” and “never say never” are phrases I connect with her. She’s very very strong and knows what she needs. She’ll do anything to protect the ones she loves and the way she accepts the boys, with all their imperfects is 🫶🏻🫶🏻
And the way we see Felix, Luther and Theo grow and develop and hear their back stories, 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘵, I fell in love with all three of them ❤️🩹
Five wonderful stars. I laughed, cried, and panted through this entire book.
The unexpected love Savannah finds with Felix, Luther, and Theo, is heartfelt and emotional. I love her sunshiny attitude, and how she found happiness even with every curve thrown her way.
Felix is a hard case to figure out but once you get through his tough exterior, he’s a dream. Theo is the jokester of the bunch, but his smiles hold so much darkness. Daddy Luther *fans self* man I loved him so much.
This book was definitely different than anything I had read but in true Torri fashion it was full of smexy steamy scenes that will leave you 💦
I’m loved this stand alone, and look forward to my next read from Torri Heat
dnf 50%…the only thing worse than being trapped in a house for eternity is being trapped in a house for eternity with 3 men who have clearly never felt the touch of a woman before
The premise of this book is very interesting and I don't think I've read anything quite like it.
Savannah (FMC) is using some money she's inherited to buy a house. The first one shown to her is a run down house far from civilisation and everyone thinks it's haunted. Sav gets it anyway.
Little does she know the house is cursed and everyone that steps in can no longer leave and that is exactly what happens to Sav. This is where we meet our three MMCs. Felix, the original owner, has been trapped in the house since 1907, Luther since 1975 and, Theo since 1992. You don't age whilst being in the house and you don't need sustenance to survive.
I felt like there was a perfect opportunity for the characters to be SO different given they each come from such different times; 1907, 1975, 1992 & 2022, but it felt like they all fell flat and there wasn't that much that differentiated them. This along with the fact that nothing really happened in this book is why it rated in the middle for me.
Sav hooks up with one of the guys the day she gets trapped in the house and while there's nothing wrong with that, I just thought it was weird. The smut rated low for me because it was just repetitive and I (the smut enthusiast) started skimming through the smut scenes because it just got boring reading the same thing over and over again. There was no angst between the characters, Sav held no resentment and that was explained away by the nature of the curse on the house but I feel like this could've been miles better if the angst was there. It felt like there is no foundation to these relationships and they’re just fucking out of circumstance and it came across as quite insta lovey.
Finding out the origins of the curse made me laugh because that shit was SO PETTY, I couldn't believe it. After hearing the full curse, I figured out how to break it because it was very straightforward, I don't know why it didn't click for the MCs.
This is a story about people searching for more, whether it be love, luck or acceptance; each character in a different way from the last. They manage to come together and give each other something they’ve never had before.
The story felt flat and sometimes boring so rated right in the middle mainly from the overall premise of the book albeit not being executed in the best way.
Scale: ⭐️ - would've DNF'ed / continued out of spite ⭐️⭐️ - shit, but whatever ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - meh, could've been better ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - lit 👅 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - loved it, inject this shit into my veins 🤪
🫑 - no smut 🌶 - no point 🌶🌶 - mediocre at best 🌶🌶🌶 - standard smut, hot 🌶🌶🌶🌶 - 🥵 okay, some CW 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 - fuck me 🥵🥵 CWs / filthy with a side of filth - see Poison / Room Twenty-Two: Hide and Seek
Oh boy Im so excited to review this book for you all. Because I know you all need more good smut. So lets talk Jinxed! - Spooky curses houses - perfect for halloween - reverse harem - 3 guys with really well developed personalities and back stories - PLOT! - amazing smut
Jinxed was exactly the spooky (but mildly) smutty book I needed. Torri Heat (author of blood crown) really delivers when it comes to smut. It’s always hot and really top tier. What I really loved about this book was the plot though! 4 people stuck inside a cursed house trying to find a way to get out, so not only was the smut good but I really wanted to keep reading to figure out how they would solve this problem of getting out of the house. In addition Heat did an amazing job with the characters backstory and making them really relatable. She touched on themes such as addiction as well in a really really amazing way. So friends - if you’re looking for a new smutty book READ THIS. YOU WONT REGRET IT!
this shit is crazyyyyy. i was intrigued by the plot & feel like it had a lot of potential but i def feel like it was really rushed which caused it to fall short. the smut happened immediately and i was just not prepared for that. it was very much instalove (or more like instalust??) and im more of a slow burn type of girl. the characters backstories had a lot of potential too but again, there were some pacing issues. i also expected each of the men to reflect the era they were from more, but they all spoke modernly. it was a decent enough read, i definitely didn’t hate it, but i was left wanting more.
they would’ve been obsessed with literally any girl that walked through the door. interesting premise but it would’ve been cooler if they were actually ghosts
Torri Heat does it again! This was a short read that was amazing! I didn’t want to stop reading and I just couldn’t get enough of these characters. They were all unique and I didn’t ever get them mixed up. This was such a unique story premise that I really enjoyed and that ending was so satisfying! Thank you to the author for an ARC!
i can see what she was trying to do here, but i was just not feeling it. spice level wasn’t as high as it should’ve been, there were a few missing and unfinished plot lines that honestly confused me and i’m unsure how i’m feeling about the native american connotations …. had me feeling like ???????? the entire time.
I received the ARC for this book and absolutely loved it!!! What do you do when you buy a house and the first time you enter and you find out you can never leave? A perfect haunted/cursed house, reverse harem, and age gap read.
I spent more time skimming chapters than reading. The base plot for this story was decent, had potential. She accepted her fate within 10% of the book, wayyyy to quick. Should have just read another book tbh.
I think the idea of the story was great. I loved learning about Theo, Luther, and Felix. I just wish their was more build-up with the romance. That's just my personal opinion. The storyline is fast-paced and has great amount of spice. This is a reverse Harem as well.
3⭐️ This book was like the complete opposite of a slow burn. This house is haunted and once you enter, your locked in there forever so once the main character Sav comes walking in she basically fucks one of the dudes like instantly. Like come on it just didn’t flow. This book could’ve been a little longer cause some of this was just so fast and I just didn’t love it. Also three men are from three different decades and they all talk the same. The author missed so many opportunities with the little things. It was a easy read with lots of spice so 🫣
