The story is so real that my heart was pounding from the first scene in which the cute little toddler was endangered. Police Sergeant Daria Gordon and US Marine Jake Fisher have to combine forces to keep little Emma safe and to find out who is targeting them. From one threat to another, these two are kept busy trying to keep themselves and the baby safe. The entire story was like riding a toboggan downhill after a fresh snowfall. I didn’t know where I was going to end up, but I surely enjoyed the ride! The characters were an original breath of fresh air, with the heroic marine taking second chair to the leadership of determined and gritty Daria. She establishes early in the story that she is the one in authority so he has to follow her lead. Together, they manage to make an invincible and strong team of protectors for Emma. There is a lot of deceit and a complex yarn of a story to unravel in order to find out why Emma is being targeted, and the author does a masterful job of throwing out the line and reeling me in. I was engrossed in the story, the characters and the setting. Small town and big crimes? Count me in! This book has all of the elements that I love in romantic suspense: drama, mystery, family, faith and romance. The quick pace is a bonus, but I must say that I was sorry to see the story end because I fell in love with the characters and their bold defense of each other.

This story had me engrossed from the beginning. Daria and Jake are reunited after a long while. They were childhood friends and now she is a cop and Jake just retired from active duty. Due to circumstances, Jake is taking care of his eighteen-month-old niece, Emma, and is out of his comfort zone.

The intense, fast-paced inspirational romance has non-stop action. There are lots of twists and turns that kept me guessing. Just when I thought I knew what would happen next, I was blindsided.

The main characters were real with lots of layers and I liked them from the beginning. Emma was adorable. Another great read with an exciting storyline, sweet romance, and a great ending.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and willingly chose to review it.

This book had me holding my breath from the very first page!
Emma’s parents died in a tragic accident. But her uncle US Marine, Jake Fisher does not believe it was an accident. He has called home from duty to raise Emma, as his sister has left Emma to him to raise
He finds out very quickly that Emma is in severe danger.

Police sergeant Daria Gordon just so happens to be there when they first attempt on Emma‘s life is made. They end up teaming up together to save Emma. Very hard for Jake to take orders and do it Daria’s way. There seems to be no one left they can trust...

Well, that was one exciting read with more twists and turns than even I, longtime fan of Love Inspired (particularly Suspense), could have anticipated. Author Loretta Eidson never gave her characters in The Marine's Deadly Reunion or its readers a even single moment to breathe.

As I said, this Love Inspired novel had so many twists and turns and red herrings that by the end I had absolutely no clue who had actually done it for sure. In the meantime, I did have some fun trying to puzzle it out with Daria and Jake – and there was a lot to puzzle out.

This is the third Loretta Eidson book that I've read and I think that The Marine's Deadly Reunion was the most edge-of-your-seat yet. I am now curious to find out how she will top it with, what I hope, will be the next story...

This book definitely will keep you turning the pages. It is filled with lots of attempts to kill the marine and the policewoman. At finishing the book, I will admit to actually thinking there is way too many attempts. The author really had me in suspense as too who the real criminals were. This is a story of a second chance at a once friendship but now the friends want more then friendship. Even through there were a lot of attempts I still recommend the book if you like suspense and love stories that are clean.

Another book that kept me up way past my bedtime! If you like strong heroines and a hero to match, this one’s for you. Daria Gordon has her hands full keeping Jake Fisher from taking over her investigation, but she prevails and even saves his bacon a few times…and vice versa. They are well-matched.

I love the reunion aspect of the story and the friends-to-love interest. Eidson did a great job of tying Jake’s hands with his sister’s baby–he couldn’t very well argue with her about chasing the bad guys when he had baby Emma to think of.

This twisty story will keep you flipping page until the end!

THE MARINE’S DEADLY REUNION by Loretta Eidson is the adrenalin pumping, action filled, inspirational story of Sergeant Daria Gordon and US Marine Jake Fisher. Best friends from back in their childhood days, they reunite in extenuating circumstances that lead to them working together to solve the mystery of Jake’s sister and husband’s deaths, to stay alive, and to catch and bring in the bad guys.

Daria had once dreamed of being a nurse. Instead, she joined the police force in her hometown of Kimbleton, MO. Determined to be the best cop possible, she’s heartbroken at letting her anger get the best of her once on an arrest that led to being called out and taking some ridicule from her fellow officers. Now more determined than ever, she’s counting to ten to hold her temper and doing things by the book. When she comes upon two men fighting in a parking lot, it’s the man with the gun that she goes after when the other man runs. After deescalating the situation, Daria realizes that the man in front of her was once her best friend back in their school days and that there is an 18-month-old little girl in the back seat, who instantly touches her heart. After hearing Jake’s story, she’s willing to investigate his sister’s accident and help if she can. However, she makes it clear from the first that she in charge and that they will follow proper procedure to prevent charges being dropped for mishandling.

Jake had once thought he would become a professional athlete, but the discipline and protecting his country had him enlisting. While in the Marines stationed overseas, Jake had recently been informed of the “accident” that took his sister and her husband’s lives. Amanda has left everything she had to him, including Emma, his baby niece. His life changed instantly from a life of order and in charge of situations to one of being completely in the dark about caring for a child and having to let the police department, Daria in particular, call the shot. Two things he knows for sure – he loves Emma with all his heart and will do anything needed to provide for her and keep her safe and secondly, he will find out why the accident that claimed the lives of his sister and her husband happened and who killed them.

Now it’s just a matter of staying ahead of those determined to eliminate them, find whatever it is that someone found necessary to kill for, and to capture all those involved in order to bring justice for Jake’s sister and her husband. Will Daria be able to prove to her department that she is a worthy member of their team? When it soon becomes apparent that Amanda had uncovered some illegal activities, the question is what had she found and about who? Was there any evidence to prove it? If so, can they figure out where it is before the criminals do? What was worth his sister risking her life? Why had the police report of Amanda’s asking for help and the report on the accident that killed them “lost”? Will Daria’s relentless determination to find out the truth about the deaths of Amanda and her husband find more questions than answers? Who can they really trust – besides each other? Can old feelings from their youth possible take root and grow into something in the present? Could Daria’s true dream for her life come true?

THE MARINE’S DEADLY REUNION is a book you will find impossible to put down once you start it. It will have you feeling the excitement of the danger and suspense as well as having you quickly falling in love with one little girl. The genuine friendship between Daria and Jake, although questioned at first, will have you hoping for it to grown into a sweet romance that makes one envision a happily ever after. Loretta Eidson weaves a wonderful thread of faith through the story so seamlessly that it often had me taking a moment to pause, often to reread a passage again, to appreciate it all the more. THE MARINE’S DEADLY REUNION is positively FIVE STAR reading at its best! My only regret is that I can’t give it 10 stars. Although part of The Protectors Collection, THE MARINE’S DEADLY REUNION can most definitely be read as a standalone book.

I receive an ARC of this book with no requirement or expectations of a review. All opinions are completely my own.

As the story unfolds, readers are given glimpses into their innermost thoughts and struggles, forging a bond that transcends the pages. The Marine’s Deadly Reunion by Loretta Eidson is a heart-pounding suspense book in the Love Inspired: The Protectors Collection. Long lost friends reunite, danger lurks everywhere, and the power of prayer fill the pages of this exciting book.

When Sergeant Daria Gordon sees an altercation outside of a shopping plaza, she quickly intervenes when she sees that guns are drawn. One car peels out of the parking lot, and Daria pulls her gun on the second person involved in the fight. Unbeknownst to her, she’s stopped the good guy, US Marine Jake Fisher…the Jake Fisher that was her childhood best friend. Jake quickly explains the situation; he believes that his sister and brother-in-law were murdered in the car crash that took their lives. He doesn’t think it was the accident that the police findings suggest. Jake is trying to find out who murdered them, all while newly parenting his toddler niece. Daria is now in danger, but she’s adamant about the fact that she, not Jake, is part of the law enforcement in the town.

Don’t start this book before bed, or you’ll be up half of the night reading! Once I started reading The Marine’s Deadly Reunion, I couldn’t put it down. It’s so exciting! It’s almost all non-stop action with the three of them on the run. They’re not sure who else they can trust, even among Daria’s co-workers on the police force. I loved that aspect of the book because I could not figure out which cops might be corrupt and who could be trusted. It seemed that the criminals were always a step ahead of Jake and Daria which led them to believe someone on the inside had to be involved.

I loved watching Jake and Daria rekindle their childhood friendship even though the butted heads lots of times during their hunt for the criminals. They both had the training, but as Daria reminded him, Jake had to do things by the book or anything they may find could be thrown out in court. Leaving decisions up to Daria was hard for Jake who wanted to control every situation and keep them all safe.

Events in both Jake’s and Daria’s lives led them away from their faith. They believed that God let them down and didn’t answer their prayers. Throughout their plight, both Jake and Daria found themselves praying for protection. I think that this happens to many Christians, including myself, while going through trials and tribulations. When God doesn’t answer the way we want Him to, we think He’s not trustworthy. We forget that He does answer all of our prayers, but we might not get the answer we want. Prayers for healing of a loved one may not be answered with a yes until they get to heaven where they’ll be whole again. Even when it’s hard, we can trust God. Jake and Daria both turn back to their trust in God’s goodness even when things are hard.

I highly recommend The Marine’s Deadly Reunion! The constant action, realistic characters, and significant message about prayer make it a must-read for lovers of Christian suspense!

The Marine’s Deadly Reunion by Loretta Eidson
To keep a child safe
They must outrun a killer…
When Sergeant Daria Gordon saves US Marine Jake Fisher and his baby niece from an attacker, she instantly puts a target on her own back. Someone murdered Jake’s sister and now they want Jake and Daria dead. To survive, Jake and Daria must discover this ruthless killer’s identity. But can they uncover the truth and keep the baby safe…before the killer finds them?
This is Daria Gordon ,Jake Fisher and his baby niece Emma's story.
Sergeant Daria Gordon cruised her hometown of Kimbleton, Missouri, one last time before she headed back to the police station to clock out. With temperatures dropping into the teens and the threat of a wintry mix, she could hardly wait to curl up by the fireplace in her new festive red pajamas. Just the thought of watching a Christmas movie and eating hot buttered popcorn made her mouth water.
The afternoon tourist traffic bottlenecked at the fork in the road in front of the Marketplace Grocery, which was nothing unusual for the Christmas season. A disturbance in the store’s parking lot caught her attention. Two men scuffled between parked cars.
The suspect placed his pistol on the pavement and pushed it toward her with his foot. He lifted his hands in the air and stepped away from the SUV’s back door, sporting a busted lip. The sleeves of his camouflage T-shirt bulged over his muscular biceps. She maintained a watchful eye and studied him. He looked familiar. That squared chin and those deep brown eyes reminded her of someone she used to know.
“I’m not the one you want.” His warm breath fogged in the freezing temperatures. He glanced inside the vehicle and back at her. “You should’ve gone after those guys.”
“I’ll make that determination. You’re the one I saw with a gun. Don’t make any sudden moves.” She adjusted her stance. “Back up.” She eased forward and secured his weapon.
“That guy tried to take my baby. I had to protect her.” He let out a huff. “I’m Jake Fisher. Want my ID?”
I recommend this book.

“Something isn’t right. ‘Daria, I just received word from my confidential informant that this case isn’t over…And they’re after the rest of the evidence.’”

Can old friends from another lifetime reconnect in their new lives to help solve a murder and to keep a town safe? Loretta Edison brings us this question, along with a myriad of others, in The Marine’s Deadly Reunion. Police Sgt. Daria Gordon attempts to break up a parking lot scuffle, only to find her middle school best friend. Long since moved away, and now a former Marine Sergeant, Jake Fisher is furious that she intervenes in his protection of his 18-month-old niece, whose parents he believes were murdered. Can Daria and Jake get past their own ideas of “doing their job” their way and make room for help from each other? Both Jake and Daria have to relearn trust in God and their fellow man.

Did I say fellow man? Maybe bad word choice. Nobody is trustworthy, except hopefully our protagonists, until the end of the story. Now I know why I wear a neck pillow when I read. Eidson will whip you back and forth so fast, as you think you know the antagonist, then pull that rug out from underneath you and set you on another direction. ( Full-speed, of course!) Then, extreme action, apparent quiet, but no, that wasn’t the answer to safety for Jake, Daria, and little Emma, either! Back off to the races you go! I don’t think I’ve ever seen an author who made me think “peace and safety” so many times, and then added so many twists!

As the stakes heighten, Daria and Jake both individually realize their need to return to faith and prayer. I appreciated that their prayers were included. As Daria reminds Jake, “God hears all prayers, including yours and mine. Prayers don’t have to be perfect.”

The novel is brightened by the season, as well as baby Emma. I also loved the short respites of time Daria and Jake share with Robert and Gina. Those are precious.

I received a copy of the book from Celebrate Lit. I also purchased my own copy. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.

Loretta Eidson has written a book with a strong narrative and deeply woven themes of faith, redemption, and resilience in the face of tragedy. The characters Jake and Daria, with their unique backgrounds and personal connections, create an engaging dynamic that will likely keep readers hooked throughout their journey.
Given the depth of the characters and the themes, readers might appreciate the way Loretta Eidson weaves the gospel message throughout the storyline without it overshadowing the plot's development or the characters' growth. This balance can be quite challenging for authors, especially when dealing with topics of faith and personal transformation against a backdrop of suspense and danger.
The elements of suspense, with the added layer of a murder mystery intertwined with a personal story of growth and redemption, create a compelling read. It's interesting to see how Eidson manages to infuse the storyline with raw emotions and faith-driven messages, all while keeping the narrative engaging and fast-paced. The dilemma of a possible romance faced by the characters, coupled with their personal growth and the suspense of the looming threat, offers a rich reading experience.
For readers looking for a narrative that combines elements of faith, suspense, personal transformation, and potential romance, this book seems like a perfect match. It’s intriguing to note how Eidson uses the characters’ journey not just to entertain but also to explore deeper questions about God's presence in challenging times, the nature of redemption, and the power of recommitment to one’s faith and values.
This brief description makes it clear why someone would find the book impactful. It covers a broad emotional spectrum, offering moments of tension, relief, and possibly heartache, all underscored by a message of hope and perseverance. Books like these not only provide entertainment but also encourage readers to reflect on their own life experiences and beliefs.

I received a complimentary copy from the author through Celebrate Lit, for my honest opinion.

Dynamite comes in small packages gives new meaning in this tightly wound mystery. This book was jam packed with action, suspense, intrigue and gasp worthy twists in its 235 pages.

Police Sgt. Daria Gordon saves United States Marine Jake Fisher and his tiny little niece. Someone killed Jake's sister and brother-in-law, which has left Emma in his care. Now that Daria has helped Jake, she has painted a target on her back as well. The cat and mouse games begin. They are literally on the run for their life with bullets flying, cars ramming into them and any other danger you can imagine. Someone wants them dead and will not stop at nothing to complete their mission.

I always enjoy a book with a strong female lead like Daria. Daria has faced some adversity from her own peers, but she just keeps hammering away and doing her job, and doing it very well I might add. She is fearless and is a true protector. Jake was a hero in his own right just because of his service to his country. His training made him want to participate in the investigation because he definitely had the skill set to provide the backup that was needed. This caused a little tension between the two because Daria had to keep reminding him she was the law here. He was no longer in a war zone. He was a civilian in need of police assistance. Their faith was tested, but they stood strong. Both main characters were dynamic, headstrong and very compatible as they soon learned. The twists just kept coming. It would seem the end was near, then it was like bam something else happened. This is definitely worth of five stars plus more. I would highly recommend that you find a comfy chair before you start reading because you will not be able to stop reading.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Talk about a couple that can’t catch a break! The Marine’s Deadly Reunion is Jake Fisher’s mission to find his sisters murderer while also adjusting to life as the guardian of his eighteen-month-old niece, Emma. Daria is his childhood best friend who is now a cop hoping to protect Jake and Emma while also trying to solve the case herself.

There is something endearing about this novel that kept me hooked, and I found myself reading until the wee hours of the morning. I craved to see how everything played out and who was behind all of these malicious attacks. Though I was pretty sure who was the mastermind what I wasn’t prepared for was the twist ending, which was an actual surprise. Even when everything was revealed I still questioned if that was the truth, which goes to show how much it shook me.

Sweet baby Emma is the bright spot in this otherwise darker read, and all of the bonding moments between her, Jake, and Daria were some of my favorites. Though I did enjoy the characters I found myself struggling to bond with the main pair, as I felt like we only got to scratch the surface with both Jake and Daria, and I would’ve liked more character development and time to bond with these two.

Other than that, it was a nice, quick read that kept my rapt attention throughout. The action was almost nonstop, and I was almost constantly trying to guess who was behind it all. Though I didn’t get too vested in the characters I still enjoyed this novel nonetheless and think it’s another great Love Inspired novel.

The Marine’s Deadly Reunion is a wonderful suspense novel. The characters are flawed but loveable and the story reads quickly. I loved the suspense within the book. I definitely did not want to put it down. Thrilling read!

Daria and Jake have a history between them. But they haven’t seen or heard from each other in a very long time. So when Jake is back in town and being targeted they have to catch up quickly while Daria tries to protect him and his niece.

His sister and her husband were killed in a car accident and he left his military career to come home and be guardian for his niece. What he didn’t sign up for was that his sister had evidence of some underhanded dealings and someone would stop at nothing to get their hands on it.

Add in twists and turns and some romance too and you’re going to want to block off a day to read this book without stopping! I highly recommend it! In fact, after I got done reading my copy it was quickly passed around to my teenage children who also quickly read it.

This story when it begins is already in mid action. The danger has already begun, and marine Jake Fisher wants to go after the people who just tried to kill him and his 18-month-old niece. Police sergeant Daria Gordon happens on to the scene and is surprised to see her childhood friend Jake back in town. They don't really get a lot of time to catch up in a normal way, as they and the baby are trying to survive the multiple attacks on them.

The attempts on his and Emma's life only proves to Jake that his sister and husband's accident was murder. What had his sister stumbled upon at the bank where she worked? And how are they always found by the murderers? This marine is having a hard time letting Daria take point on this. He should be the protector; he is the marine. But now he has Emma he must look after too.

This was an intense read as it seemed no place was safe, they were dealing with frigid temperatures, and they had a baby in tow. And those who were after them were intent on ending their lives. Plus, if they survive, do Jake and Daria have a chance at something more?

I was provided a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

I truly enjoy the LOVE-Inspired Suspense Romance series of books. The series books are written by many different authors and I have enjoyed all that I have read. The Marine's Deadly Reunion by Loretta Edison is the latest LOVE Inspired book that I have had the opportunity to read. I have read a couple other books by Loretta Eidson and was excited to read this book also.

I really enjoyed this book as soon as I started reading it. The characters, Daria Gordon and Jake Fisher, are very strong and determined characters. Daris and Jake have been friends since Childhood and they are working together to keep his infant niece safe. Daria is a Police Sergeant and Jake is a Former US Marine so they have the knowledge to track down the person who is trying to attack his niece and already killed his sister. They do butt heads on how to keep Baby Emma safe, but I LOVE how Daria explains to Jake that things should be done a certain way for legal reasons. Jake was very responsive to that and it made things go easier on them. I LOVED how they truly wanted the best for baby Emma. The Twists and Turns in the storyline really kept me intrigued. Suspense, Faith and Romance are all in this book. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Suspense and Romance all in one. GREAT BOOK!

We hit the ground running - literally - in this newest release by author Loretta Eidson. The Marine's Deadly Reunion features Sergeant Daria Gordon, a darn good police officer, but for some reason surrounded by other officer's who clearly don't want her there. Marine Jake Fisher is home to become guardian to his baby niece, orphaned when Jake's sister and her husband were killed in an accident...or was it?
Best friends long ago as children, it has been years since Daria and Jake have seen each other. Now they find themselves butting heads a bit (Jake's military skills vs. Daria's police skills, plus the fact it's her jurisdiction) as she tries to protect Jake and little Emma from whoever has a target on Jake's back. Besides that, they both have issues they are dealing with - issues of trust, grief, guilt, and more. But is it possible the Lord might work through each of their hearts and bring them together?
You will definitely want to find out! Plus, I'm always a happy camper when there is an epilogue, and this one delivers!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but my opinion is entirely my own.

Every page is soaked with nail biting tension. When Sergeant Daria Gordon saves US Marine Jake Fisher and his baby niece from an attacker, she instantly sets herself up for trouble as she becomes the intended target. Baby Emma’s parents have been killed in what was intended to look like an accidental car crash. Daria’s best childhood friend, Jake is now back from the Marine’s to take care of his niece Emma whose parents have died in what he believes is a case of murder. Can he convince her this case is murder? Marine Jake Fisher has all the strategies he needs from his Marine training now he just needs to convince Sergeant Daria Gordon he will step in and help her to solve this high-tension case. Every page had me holding my breath. This is an action-packed suspense with a strong female lead. I wasn’t sure who to trust and who not to. I enjoyed seeing how Daria and Jake worked together to keep sweet little Emma safe. As soon as I thought the case was solved, here we go again, more action coming at you from all sides. An inspirational suspense that’ll keep you on your toes.

When there is a baby or child involved in a story I immediately become intrigued. l love when a story starts out with action and continues with secrets, danger and surprises. The main characters are equally well written and I liked how they decided to work together to see who and why Jake seems to be the target of someone. Just when you think he is in a safe place, someone finds him and his niece. I couldn’t help starting to suspect everyone after awhile.

There is an emotional side to the story where I was able to see vulnerability and a desire to have deeper faith. What was really good about this story was the characters thinking that God has left them. Remember that even though we pray for something God will answer it in His time. We may not like the answer we get, but it is all in God’s plan. This is a great story that had me wanting the story to continue. When I find characters I like I tend to connect with them and desire to have their story continue. I would love to see Jake and Daria together in a new story.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

The Marine’s Deadly Reunion is Inspirational Romantic Suspense at its best! The intensely suspenseful, action-packed, fast-paced plot drew me in from the beginning and held me fast to the end! Just when I thought I could relax, thinking the danger had passed and all was resolved, a new situation presented itself and put me back on the edge of my seat—not once but twice!! Beautifully and skillfully created characters came alive and stole my heart especially Baby Emma. I greatly appreciate the strong faith thread that is woven throughout the story. A masterfully crafted storyline, amazing characters, a wonderful small-town setting, sweet romance, and an uplifting faith element combine seamlessly to make this an enjoyable read and my favorite book so far by this author. I think all inspirational romantic suspense fans will love this book as much as I do.

I liked the protagonists in this action packed novel of romantic suspense. Daria is a strong female police officer and she combines efforts with an equally strong ex-marine, Jake. Initial tension between the two melts as they must work together to solve a mystery and stay alive in the process.

There is a great deal of suspense in this novel, some of it caused by the lack of due diligence by law enforcement. An example is leaving a woman and child unprotected when there are dangerous people on the loose. Of course, trouble follows. There are a number of twists in the plot as new villains are revealed almost to the very end.

There is a strong faith message and a solid romantic element as a childhood friendship is rekindled. This is a good novel for those who enjoy inspirational romantic suspense.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book through Celebrate Lit. My comments are an independent and honest review.
