Can you keep a secret?

⁣I grew up sick.⁣⁣

Let me clarify.⁣⁣I grew up believing that real love stories include a martyr or demand great sacrifice to be worthy.⁣⁣ Because of that, I believed it, because I made myself believe it, and I bred the most masochistic of romantic hearts, which resulted in my illness.⁣⁣

When I lived this story, my own twisted fairy tale, it was unbeknownst to me at the time because I was young and naïve. I gave into temptation and fed the beating beast, which grew thirstier with every slash, every strike, every blow.⁣⁣ Triple Falls wasn’t at all what it seemed, nor were the men that swept me under their wing. But in order to keep them, I had to be in on their secrets.⁣⁣ Secrets that cost us everything to keep.

⁣⁣That’s the novelty of fiction versus reality. You can’t re-live your own love story, because by the time you’ve realized you’re living it, it’s over. At least that was the case for me and the men I trusted my foolish heart to.⁣⁣ Looking back, I’m convinced I willed my story into existence due to my illness.⁣⁣ And all were punished.

Cecelia grew up sick. I grew up literate. This book made me wish I had skipped pre-school and elementary school all together. I have never hated something this much and I will have to warn you, please don't read the rest of this review if you love this series. This is not personal. I have loved my fair share of trashy books but at least I am self-aware. lmao

From the creators of: I AM NEVER TRUSTING BOOKTOK EVER AGAIN here comes: I WISH SOMEBODY HAD FUCKING WARNED ME ABOUT HOW SHITTY this would be.

We start with the classic: she let herself be destroyed and used in depraved manners and she MISSES THE SALT OF HIS C*M!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who the fuck has ever said that about d!ck juice. This is mind blowing to me (or maybe I am gay idk), but whatever, I kept going.

She just left her fiancé, to go back to this town where she apparently got the best dick of her life, this shall be good.

No, it wasn't good. Cecelia managed to develop every single daddy issue in the f*cking world and NONE of the fun ones. She is whiny, weak, desperate, childish, Bella Swan has a backbone and is the role model I would pick for my daughters next to the f*cking waste of space Cece is. *takes a deep breath* But I promised her a chance. So I keep going, until we meet Sean.

Sean, the worst thing to have ever happened in the history of literature. The worst character ever written in the whole history of human kind. The shittiest fucking male love interest and sadly, the closest thing to reality: a living and breathing fuckboy.

The red-flag walking parade. He calls her PUP!!! He gave her the classical fuckboy speach: "WhY WOrrY AboUT ThE fUtuRe When WE Can FOcus On tHE NOw pup?" *pukes*.

He BROKE HER APPLE WATCH, he grabbed it out of her wrist and smashed it with his foot to prove a point. Afterwards he went on to tell her that he doesn't have social media because: that is the worst thing we have ever done collectively, to give everyone a microphone and that much attention.

Well Sean, the worst thing your mother has ever done was developing your arms in her uterus just so you could destroy private property to prove a fucking point. We all make mistakes.

HE SAYS IN THE BOOK HIS IDOL IS DAVE CHAPELLE!! Have you guys learned nothing from life? He takes her on a date and complains about how toxic his ex-girlfriend was and that they broke up because he couldn't handle being controlled. This author spent 10 pages making Sean tell the history of weed to Cecelia. I am starting to think a fuckboy actually ghost wrote this book.

Cecelia on the other hand, is clueless. She is mind blown by her nights sitting in a dirty garage on his lap, while Sean and his friends smoke pizza, eat weed (or is it the other way around?) and ignore her presence. She even dares to say that is the happiest she ever felt. She says and I quote: that they are nothing like the boys in her high school, that these were men.

CeCE ALL OF YOU COMBINED DON'T HAVE THE EMOTIONAL MATURITY TO BABYSIT A FUCKING PLANT

When Sean and Cece get on a fight he says, and again, I QUOTE: She was expecting him to use his gemini side and he is a virgo.

This could go on for a while but I will spare you. Oh there is also something about a brotherhood? These d!ckless men thought it would be fun to play robin hood and kiss Karl Marx' ass and talk about how GREAT 1984 BY GEORGE ORWELL was. Oh go fuck yourself.

Of course, Cecelia was down. She had the mental maturity of a fucking turtle. She thought it was so hot they had tattoos, smoked week, drove camaros, gave her nicknames and fucked her in a group. (And no, this is not a reverse harem, don't sell it to me like one). There was also a character named Dominic, who got a total of 2 chapters and he could have been the best thing about this book but that is expecting way too much of this fiasco.

One star, half for every chapter Dominic was in without Sean being around opening his big fat fuckboy mouth.

Reading this was like reading a slow torturous death, a mix of the worst aspects of After by Anna Todd and the most toxic scenes of Twilight and you get yourself the worst written book I have read in a long time.

oh look, it's kate stewart cementing herself as a new favorite author

i adored this. and i had a gut feeling i would, which is why i put off reading it for so long. i knew that my emotions probably couldn't be contained in a vlog (and i didn't really want to film them), and as i am a youtuber... it's kind of hard to pick up books nowadays that i'm not going to talk about on camera.

so i waited for the perfect opportunity. completely unencumbered by video making, i got to savor the fuck out of this book. and it was delicious.

like many many other reviewers, i think it's necessary to let you know that it's best to go into this book blind. but i'll try to give you some hints:

- you won't know who the love interest is in the beginning, and that's a good thing
- you won't know where the duet is heading until 95% into the book, also a good thing
- there are some conspiracy/shady dealings/secret society moments
- this book has MAJOR Credence by Penelope Douglas vibes both in tone and um. sexuality.

and since i don't mind/like all of those things, this book worked for me. the only real complaint i had, and i think other readers will have is that the plot literally does not happen until the 95% mark of this book. you know how edward is all shady and "i can't tell u my terrible immortal secret" in twilight? yeah this is like that but if bella didn't figure out he was a vampire until the end of the first book.

not a deal breaker for me, but it got a little tedious at times when our heroine was like "what the fuck is going on" and our hero is like "don't worry about it sweetheart."

very very curious to see where the second book goes. i have read some loose spoilers so i don't think i will be disappointed in the outcome but who knows.

pick this up if you like small town vibes and hot dudes. i was not let down.

I’m not a stupid person but I really, really do not understand this book. I just don’t get it. I’ll try to explain why, without spoilers.

In the prologue we find out that Cecelia is 26 years old and she has just ended things with her fiancé because she didn’t love him enough. She is going back to the place where she gave her heart to someone.

Aged 18/19 Cecelia goes to live with her estranged dad, Roman, a multi millionaire. He wants her to work at his company for a year to be worthy of her inheritance. Only daddy dear is never there and clearly has no interest in her whatsoever and she has zero interest in him or his company. She’s given a job on a production line making calculators with no interaction with him. The relationship made no sense.

Day 1 at work she is befriended by Sean Roberts and goes to a party at his house. After that he randomly turns up at her house for a swim. All of his friends have the same raven tattoo. They race cars. His friend, moody Dominic King with a French accent (although we later find out he was born in America) works at a garage pimping the rides and doing some geeky computer stuff. Sean left Horner industries to work at the garage to cover for Dom but then goes back and is a supervisor. It didn’t make sense.

Some people know the secret but I sure as hell don’t. No one will tell Cecelia the secret either. Is it some Robin Hood kind of thing? Is it vengeance against a particular person? Is it a drug dealing thing? Why does Cecelia throw a wobbler and start crying when a song is played? Why does she turn hot and cold? Why does she even like Sean and Dominic? Why do they like her? Scrap that, I don’t think they do like her. Does she like her mum? Does Roman have house elves that clean and cook but are never seen?

This book felt like one that is written without a plan. The kind where the author throws a bit or random in, that has no connection with anything else just to build up the word count or because it’s the current trend. I expected a vampire to show up at any minute.

I’ve loved Kate’s other books. People love this series, but not me.

#1 Flock ↠ 2.75 stars
#2 Exodus ↠ 1 star

Update: Just wanted to clear some things in the spoiler part, cause I feel like there might be a misunderstanding.

If you've read the blurb and you have questions. I might have some answers for you. The blurb and the reviews are super vague when it comes to the pairing. Is it menage? Is this reverse harem? A threesome?

For those who want to go in blind, please only read the first part which is going to be spoiler free. But for those who hate surprises and all the secrecy surrounding this book, read part 2 on your own risk.

I. SPOILER FREE REVIEW

Can we take a second to admire the gorgeous cover. Look at that raven. The majesty. The Grace. Those wings tho .. ngl I'm jealous.

Flock is told from the almost 19-year old Cecelia Horner perspective. She decides to work at her estranged father's company for a year to save money to help her mother.

During orientation day, Cecelia meets Sean, her supervisor at the plant. Sean and Cecelia instantly click upon meeting and start to hang out more. Cecelia, before coming to Triple Fall, was always 'the good girl'. She had good grades, took care of her mother and was never in any way a rebel.
Upon meeting Sean and his group of friend, Cecelia goes on journey of self-discovery and winds up in a twisted secrecy.

Flock has a good reading flow, it's pretty easy to get through and I didn't find myself bored. The steam level in here is pretty high. My problem is that I didn't really connect with either of the main characters. I neither love nor hate them, my feeling towards them is indifference. Towards the end of the book, I started to get a bit annoyed at all the vague stuff Sean was saying. Stop talking in riddles.. it was very confusing to say the least.

I'm still not really sure what I just read, cause the books leaves you with so many question. Everything about the characters and what they say is annoyingly cryptic. That cliffhanger at the end tho hmm. Luckily Exodus released a week after Flock, therefore we don't have to wait long for answers.

What you can expect: Ravenhood meets Robin Hood

***

II. SPOILERS

If you continue reading this, PLEASE DON'T SPOIL IT FOR OTHER READERS AND PUT SPOILER TAGS. I think that should be obvious, but just wanted to say it again.

I'm giving these spoilers, not because I want to ruin the book or anything, but because I've seen several people asking for it. I don't really see any harm saying what it is, cause it's not even that special or outrageous. It's shitty to make such a secret out of it, expecting people to spend their money on something they may not like to read otherwise.

4.5/5 ★’s

“my rainy days are yours, dominic. if you want them.”

rereading this trilogy is something i told myself i would never do, but i’m so happy that i changed my mind (with lots of help from my pookie, bru hehe this reread is for you🫂and to convince shei and sel to read this immediately🔪). it almost feels like my first time reading it because i seriously don’t remember a whole lot about this trilogy and i think those who have read it can understand why. the first time i read flock, i gave it 5 stars. as much as i enjoyed it the second time around, there were just some minor things that prevented me from giving it 5 stars again. revisiting these characters (one in particular) is something i didn’t know that i needed🥹if you’re questioning yourself on whether or not you should pick this series up or even reread it yourself…i 10/10 recommend!!<3

♡ the plot:
captivating. if you know me, you know i will always recommend going into a book completely blind. i don’t want to say any specific details about the plot. i just want to say that it’s very cryptic. i remember my first time reading it and being kind of confused with what was going on so you really just need to go with the flow because everything will get explained eventually, i promise. you’ll think the plot is going somewhere, you’ll think that you know what’s going on and then it’ll make a complete 180 and go in the opposite direction. it’s the kind of plot that keeps you wondering what the hell is going on and even my second time reading this book…it still had that same effect. i’ll leave you with this, if you’re looking to read a reverse harem romantic suspense set in a small town then this is absolutely the trilogy for you🤭

♡ the writing:
live, laugh, love words. so so good. i don’t know how a lot of the quotes didn’t stick with me when i first read this trilogy. kate has a way of making you feel all different kinds of emotions. i definitely appreciate an author’s writing a lot more than i used to. back then, i used to just read for fun. i still read for fun of course, but to me it’s much more than that. i read to feel something…to feel everything because feeling so deeply makes me feel so alive and i crave it more and more everyday. the fact that simple words written on paper have the ability to do that!? it’s the most beautiful thing. so yeah i absolutely love kate’s writing style hehe 10/10, absolutely consumed<3

♡ cecelia horner:
༻“i expect passion and butterflies, and one or two fairy tale moments. when we fight, i want it to hurt. when we fuck, i want to feel it with every fiber of my being. when a man confesses his love to me, i expect him to mean it. i don’t want to question the words’ authenticity. i want to be claimed and owned and ruled and possessed by love. is that expecting too much?”༺

i absolutely adore cecelia. i love her heart. i do feel that she had some flaws, but that’s what makes her character development throughout the trilogy so good🤌we start by seeing cecelia at age 19 and then see her at age 26 and let me tell guys…her story is definitely one you want to read about! she has all of the good qualities you want in a fmc🥰

♡ dominic king:
༻“so what, i'm attracted to dominic. of course, i'm attracted to him. he's got that beautiful asshole vibe thing that makes women stupid.”༺

as some of you know, based on my updates…i am a slut for dominic king🫦this man could break me in half and i’d ask him to do it again. there’s always something about a fictional man who is an absolute asshole to the fmc, but then turns soft for her later on that will always win me over. it’s my favorite thing ever like yes baby, peel back those layers so i can see deep into your core the kind of gentleman you really are😩you ask me to list my top book bf’s and you WILL find dominic being one of them, always. let me just tell you all that i fell even move in love with dom this time around🤭dominic king just has that toe curling, thigh clenching, butterflies in the tummy, swoon worthy effect that every romance girly needs to read about immediately🙈you won’t regret it! this man is french AND he’s a reader🤰even tho this man is an asshole to cecelia…he still does gentleman things like open the car door for her🫦it’s giving treat her like a princess in public and like a slut in private😋usually i share my book bf’s, but sorry besties…this man is mine🤗🔪

♡ sean roberts:
༻“so, you hate the plant, huh, pup?” sean drawls as i watch dominic sift through his toolbox.
“stop calling me that,” i say, elbowing him in the ribs.
“nope, the nickname stays.”
“it's just...so fucking boring,” i sigh.༺

HEAVY on the sigh and the “so fucking boring”. if you’re wondering why my rating went from 5 stars to 4.5, it’s because of this man right here. the first time i read it…i won’t lie, i definitely swooned over him so i don’t have any doubt that most of you won’t feel the same way when you first read it. my second time around tho…i just couldn’t stand him. he was boring. every time he was talking about something, i just wanted him to shut the fuck up😭there was one specific scene…actually a few scenes where he pissed me off so much and i was just like yeahhhh fuck this guy😂i mean some of the things he says is swoon worthy, but idk. he’s blonde. he has a lip ring. not my cup of tea. also that nickname…i hate it😭

♡ other thoughts:
there’s one side character that deserves to be mentioned and that’s tyler. i heard he’s getting his own book and i simply cannot wait. i absolutely adore him🤗
the ending was so unexpected even my second time reading it because i could barely remember what happened. i need to start reading the second book immediately now because i’ve forgotten so much😭
the small town setting…absolutely loved the vibes hehe. please go read this if you haven’t <3 if you hate it…pls forget my name🫣

♡ favorite scenes:

#1:
slowly, i move to get up when he buries his nose in my hair, hooking me back into him. i draw audible breaths as he finally acknowledges the bulge in his sweats and the raging current between us. clinging desperately to my will, i start to speak up when he beats me to it.
“no.”
i turn my head, drinking in the lust that greets me and know this ‘no’ has everything to do with my questions last night. our eyes stay locked as his grip tightens on my waist.
“i know what i'm holding, i know her worth,” he whispers, his words so intimate.
~~~this is so beautiful that i literally want to cry right now🥹🦋
#2:
“have you ever been in love?”
silence.
“that's not a stupid question.”
“it is if you find love irrelevant.”
“why is love irrelevant?”
“because it doesn't interest me.”
“what interests you?”
“the book i was reading.”
i huff and move off his lap to pick the book up before i hand it to him. he resumes his reading as i move for his door.
“pick one,” he says just as i reach the handle.
"one what?"
he nods toward the shelves.
i run my hands over my face in frustration. “you drive me insane.”
i move toward the shelf and look over his collection. i pause when i see a few familiar titles. “you have a whole romance section.” i giggle and pull a book from the shelf. when i open it, a receipt falls to the floor. inspecting it, i see he’s just bought ten books and spent a few hundred dollars opting for some pricy hardcovers over paperbacks. “you just bought these?”
upon closer inspection, i see most of them are romance titles by my favorite indies. there’s also a few suspense and an older historical, all of them titles from a familiar list that i wrote on a bookmark in my bedroom. when he was in my house, he had to have snooped in my room while sean was distracting me.
“you looked through my stuff?”
he keeps his eyes on his book.
it’s a stupid question. and the answer is so obvious, but i can't help myself.
“you bought these for me?”
silence.
and again, i’m floating off the ground as he continues to read, feigning indifference. but i know differently now, and it changes everything. beneath that mask is a man who's been paying attention, very close attention to me.
he turns another page and pulls an empty pillow closer to his shoulder. he wants me to read, with him, in his bed. and what better way to pass a day in stormy weather than curling up with a gorgeous man and getting lost in the words.
~~~the way i would’ve begged him to take me right then and there. i- let me stop😂😂

#3:
i turn the radio down and he glances at me. “are we ever going to have a real conversation?”
one side of his mouth lifts. “we had a good one not too long ago.”
“that's not what i mean.”
“want to start with politics or religion?” he chuckles darkly at my answering scowl before he shifts, pinning me to my seat as we race forward. “eggs—runny, coffee—black, beer—cold, music—loud, cars,” he floors the gas.
“fast,” i say through a laugh.
“woman,” he turns and rolls his mirror colored gaze over me.
woman, not women. i feel that comment so much i move to grip his hand.
~~~SWOONINGGGG🦋🦋
#4:
i feel a kiss on my stomach, my eyes drift from the page when he jerks me to the edge of the bed, spreading my legs.
“keep reading.”
~~~sneak peak of a spicy scene🫦🫦pls i died.

#5:
chapter 25 owns me, go read this book to find out why🥵

♡ favorite quotes:
༻ “you’re perfect.” 🦋🦋🦋
༻ “i could spend eternity kissing this man. it's intense, sinful, consuming, along with a whisper of something else.” 🫦
༻ “it's beautiful, this man's kiss. it's consuming and i can't get enough.”
༻ “my greatest hope is to be in all-consuming love. my biggest fear is to be in all-consuming love.” so so real🥺
༻ “we crave the all-consuming, soul-stealing, drama-filled romances that are destined to end badly.”
༻ “you can discover more about a person in an hour of play than you can in a year of conversation.”
༻ “these two men have flipped my world, made colors more vivid, made sounds sweeter, made the world as a whole more bearable.”
༻ “it’s okay to want his dick, baby, i’ll watch it go inside you and fucking love the view, and the savage it’ll make me.” oh-👀
༻ “they won’t touch you, cecelia. you pulled up with dominic.” period😛
༻ “i don't think I've ever seen dom so wrapped up in any woman.” can he be wrapped up in me next😩
༻ “my eyes close in remembrance of the past few hours of being at his mercy. i'm sore, more than sore, i've been fucked to within an inch of living.”
༻ “deeply. so deeply, i struggle for air, for sanity, as he takes and takes and i open for him, my limbs going lax. in his kiss, i lose a part of myself, his words lifting me above ground while his tongue coaxes me into this moment with him.” the way dom kisses…i simply cannot😩
༻ “elle est trop belle. trop intelligente. mais trop jeune. cette fille sera ta perte...” she is too beautiful. too smart. but too young. this girl will be your undoing. 🫠

“It’s time to keep your secrets.”

Mind. Blown. Kate Stewart brought a totally different kind of read with Flock and I loved it! This review is going to be short and vague because this is a book you want to go into blind.

Cecelia meets Sean at her first day at work. She’s working at a place her father owns to earn her spot there. She and her father are estranged, but she’s living with him and working for him for reasons bigger than herself. She’s expecting to just survive this year of working for her dad, but with Sean and his group of friends, everything changes.

I love books that make me think, make me feel, and keep me guessing. This one did all three. I’m so glad I had no idea what this was about. I’m glad I went in blind and was surprised with each twist and turn. No one crafts a story quite like Kate Stewart, and I was blown away by this one. It was on my mind for days. I couldn’t stop thinking about what happened, what’s happening, and what will happen next. I have so many theories!

This story is unique, it’s twisty, and it’s insanely sexy. After finishing book one, all I have to say is to buckle up, ya’ll. You’re in for a ride! I’m so glad these books are releasing so close together because you’re not going to want to wait long for the next one! If you’re looking for an epic romantic suspense, pick up Flock!
At this point, I just want to make peace with who I am, no matter what ending I get.

Page 282:

He rips off the foil and snatches a fork from the drawer before shoveling barbecue in his mouth. “Its delicious, are you happy?”

Tears gather in my eyes as he tosses the plate across the kitchen and it shatters in the sink.

It’s then I realize how weak my argument is, and he looks me over, shaking his head in disappointment.

Miss me with this abusive shit. I won’t sit here and read about the worlds most pretentious, toxic men. DNFing at 80%.

“Never research your heroes, because you’ll find out they’re human.”

Okay fine….this kinda slapped.
Cecelia moved to Triple Falls and is working for her dad. She hopes to get her inheritance one day and use that to take care of her mom. She meets Sean at the workplace, giving us some sexual tension right at the start. She meets Sean’s roommates, with one being really mean to her, Dominic. More sexual tension. As the story progresses, she learns more about these men and realizes that there are a lot of secrets she is yet to discover.

I am here for all the sexiness this book was giving. One of the tags of this book was reverse harem so obviously, I expected that even though I wasn’t really expecting….THAT. There was always this sense of mystery in the air since the “brothers” were not inclined to tell Cecelia a lot throughout the book. I liked that we got snippets of explanations with a final cliffhanger that left me confused AF.

“YoUrE sUcH a MaN” oh god. The second-hand embarrassment I was feeling for Cecelia in some of these scenes was appalling. She was literally at the hands of the manipulations of the guys, and it was sickening. The reveals at the end were understandable though and honestly, I don't know how exactly I feel about the guys so I hope to get closure from the next book.

Overall, just read it.

The toxicity wasn’t hot for me. It was vile. Smashing her Apple Watch cause you’re a hippy and don’t believe in ‘time’??? Y’all I’d be putting my hands around a grown man’s throat.

Speaking of grown men. Where??? They’re 18 and 19. It didn’t make sense.

They were a flock/group/orgy but somehow we’re still jealous but saying they they weren’t and nothing came between them???? Why was this girl the be all to end all. Like, she’s alright. But enough to have all these ‘hottest boys alive’ on their knees?? I don’t think so.

2 stars for Dom only (thanks Krysta for reminding me to drop this rating lol)

Well this was an interesting read 😅 thanks to my girlies for keeping me entertained while reading this, it made it way more enjoyable 💗

Plot

I don't even know how to describe this book because I didn't know what was going on half of the time. Cecilia is the FMC, at the time of the prologue she is 26 and Flock takes place 8 years prior when she is 18 years old (almost 19). She moves to live with her estranged father and ends up meeting Sean and his group of friends, specifically Dominic. After growing closer with the group she notices they all have a similar tattoo and not everything is as it seems.

**This is a why choose romance so if that sort of thing isn't for you, you might not enjoy this (I'm personally in my why choose era at the moment 😈).

╰⪼ Thoughts

🎶 Book songs
- West Coast by Lana Del Rey and I Did Something Bad by Taylor Swift 🎶

Sean and Cecilia

Within the first couple of chapters of meeting Sean (the MMC) I instantly couldn't stand him. He gives off stoner kid energy that thinks he's super smart and philosophical when he starts his ramblings but I just wanted someone to shut him up. He was so cringy, a gaslighter and a manipulator. He was hot and cold with Cecilia for most of the book and she just accepted it and convinced herself it was her fault. He never really gave her clear answers on where they stood and assumed she should know what he wants/make a move. Cecilia was constantly swooning over him and saying she was falling for him and I just wanted scream WHYYYY - are we hearing the same thing?? In hindsight, the reveal had something to do with this, to an extent.

Cecilia was pretty immature and not all that interesting so I'm hoping she will mature over the next couple of books because she was so young. She had a 5 minute monologue about how much she loves doing laundry because Sean is hot??! I might not of disliked her so much if she wasn't so obsessed with Sean. Yes, she's immature but Sean needs to be checked into a mental asylum. He's a blonde white boy version of Kanye west...🚫

Cecilia: “What are you thinking Sean?”
Sean: “Lots of thoughts”

Sean: "Don’t play bitch, I like you too much."
*She doesn’t know if she wants to kiss him or slap him* bitch slap that mf

Cecilia: "You hurt me..."
Sean: "That's what I'm trying to avoid. But you twisted the whole situation into what you expected to happen. You expected me to show my Gemini side, but I'm a Virgo, remember? I had no chance against your imagination." Not him using his star sign to gaslight her??

Dominic

Dom was a snack and he carried this book for me. He gives off alpha vibes but is secretly a teddy bear underneath. I would do whatever this man said - oh and he reads 🥹.

* Spoilers below *

The ONLY good thing Sean did was be secure enough to be okay with introducing Dom into their relationship.

Chapter 25 was pretty hot, maybe it's my screwed head from the last RH book I read but I was expecting a little more and would have liked it better if Sean wasn't involved haha but when Dom told him to take his hands off Cecilia it made it all worth it 👀

The BOOK scene? Hot. Chapter 30-31 were my favourites. This man went through her books in her room, bought her new books from her favourite authors and EXPENSIVE hardback / special edition versions.... He was everything.

The garage scene tho? WILD.

Overall, my rating would have been higher if the FMC got rid of Sean or if Dom was in the book more. The ending did catch me off guard and made sense for the some of the faults mentioned above. I still plan to continue the series as I've heard the next books are better and I want to meet Tobias 😋

4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I mean. I don’t know what just happened. i’m IN THIS, fully in. They HAVE me. But do I really know what’s going on? no not at all. Am I enjoying the ride? 100% yes. I only didn’t rate this 5 stars because I couldn’t bring myself to do that when I was lost 99% of the book, and still am.. kind of, sort of. I’m invested though, so invested. GO INTO THIS BOOK COMPLETELY BLIND, just trust me.

'FLOCK' is the first full length romance book in Kate Stewart's 'The Ravenhood' duet. An unconventional twisted suspenseful love story. Spoken in nineteen year old Cecelia's POV.

I'm not going to write up this review how I normally would only because you really need to go into this one blind, because this book deserves it!

Like fight club, what you see, what you hear, you do not tell anyone!!

AlertAbleIggypops-size_restricted.gif

I have no idea what I just read, but what I did read I LOVED!! Everything about this book was beyond unique, it pulled me in so effortlessly, the secrets, the suspense, the boys of summer, the sexual tension and encounters had me hooked from the get go.

Cecelia is required to live with her estranged father who she hadn't seen since she was much younger, she'll also be working at his electronics plant for a year which one day she will inherit along with a lump sum, allowing her to learn the ropes to earn her place within his empire and to help out her mother.

Cecelia is the good girl who has good grades, who loves and takes care of her mother to ensure she's happy. An introvert who is happy to be a wallflower who always plays it safe. But this summer she's going to reinvent herself. She's going to be the YES girl.

109696253-608881696710077-557255239169019301-n

She has no expectations, work for a year then leave for college, but nothing prepared her for twenty five year old Sean who she met the first day of orientation, he invited her back for a party at this place to meet his brotherhood of friends.

They pull her into their fold, secrecy shrouds them all like a cloak. The untouchables, each man has a tattoo of a raven, what does it mean? Who are these men? Are they friend or foe? Who can she trust?

These men I've been hanging with are exactly the type that Mom warns you away from and that Dad is supposed to greet at the front door with a shotgun in hand.

aaaa

So many questions, so many twists and turns. Fast cars, parties, drugs and girls.

This book had my brain working on overdrive, trying to piece the puzzle together, the suspense killing me as I devoured this in record time.

My greatest hope is to be in all-consuming love. My biggest fear is to be in all-consuming love.

Shut. The. Front. Door. TWICE.

I am totally and completely ruined. Dead. DEAD I tells ya. How do I even go on living after this book? HOW? I've been sitting in my room, staring blankly at the wall for the past 3 hours, just trying to figure out how to go on with my life. And I've come to the conclusion that it's simply impossible. Until I have book two in my hands, the only existence is my currently over caffeinated and slightly manic state of OHMYGODWHATDIDIJUSTREAD!!!!
The only love I’ve ever known or craved is the kind that keeps me sick, sick with longing, sick with lust, sick with need, sick with grief. The distorted kind that leaves scars and jaded hearts.

I don't know about you, but my love affair with Kate Stewart actually began with her books under her pen name. All I remember is cracking open Excess and falling head over ovaries for this woman's words. Since then, I've been greedily devouring each of her releases without even bothering to read the blurb. This one being no exception. And if there's one piece of advice I can give you, is that you do the same thing. Go in absolutely blind. Trust me on this and thank me later.

But back to my point and where I was going with this. When I learned that Angelica Chase was none other than Kate Stewart, it was like two worlds colliding for me. Angelica wrote twisty and erotic romances and Kate Stewart wrote unforgettable stories. So where am I going with this? Well, Flock happened to be the most amazing culmination of Kate and Angelica that I couldn't even imagine in my dreams.

This book was....how do I even describe this to you. First of all, that blurb is vague AF. And as much as I want to give you more, I won't. because this isn't a story you read. It's one you experience. And it's one you need to experience to its full potency. It was a twisty and erotic masterpiece that sucks you in and doesn't let you go. It's a thrill ride of emotion and frustration as you grasp at straws to try to make sense of it all, only to fall victim to the author's evil genius mind and realize you no longer know up from down and left from right.

All I know is I binged. BINGED y'all. I stayed up all night reading and while I can barely function this morning, I'm not even a little sorry because it was all worth it. Well. Maybe not my manic screaming when I got to the end and woke up my husband who preceded to look at me like I just lost my ever loving mind at 4 am. And you know what? He's not wrong. Because I definitely did. And I won't be sane until I get my answers in book two. And while it's only a few days away, the wait for Exodus is the worst sort of torture.

So let me end my "review" (if you can even call it that) with this: if this book is not on your radar (you've been living under a rock), it NEEDS to be. If you're not sure about reading it, dive in! If you read ANY book this year, make it this one. If you want a unique, captivating, and utterly unforgettable read, GET. THIS. BOOK.

That is all. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to rock myself in a corner somewhere (preferably with booze) in my wait for Exodus. And in case you're wondering, no, I am most definitely NOT OKAY.

"The only love I've ever known or craved is the kind that keeps me sick, sick with longing, sick with lust, sick with need, sick with grief. The distorted kind that leaves scars and jaded hearts."

description

Talk about a wild ride! This book was released last year, but with the audiobook publishing soon, I couldn't pass up the chance to hear how the narrators bring Cecelia, Sean, and Dominic to life. Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden were the perfect choices for the story, and I found myself being able to get lost in the book so much easier than when I tried reading it via my kindle. Obviously that is personal preference and could be for numerous reasons, but I truly feel that this format brings a special something to the story, an engaging quality that let me feel I was in that small town just outside of Charlotte, NC with them.

There are so many cryptic reviews surrounding this title, mainly because it's chocked full of spoilers, in just about every aspect of the plot and characters. What you need to know going in is that Cecelia is the heir to her father, Roman's, business empire, even though he was absent for nearly all of her existence. She's going to live with him for at least 1 year, working on the line with the other factory employees, before she is eligible to inherit it all. Along the way, she meets fellow employee Sean, who introduces her to his friends Dominic and Tyler and the rest of the crew, and thus a suspenseful force of nature is put into play that cannot be stopped. If you enjoy slow burning romance and have an open mind (trust me, it is HOT 🔥🔥🔥) definitely give this one a try. Don't be scared by the massive cliffy; the next book is already available to read for free in KU!

This book made me so furious and annoyed, but I loved every second of it. I still don't understand much and hopefully, all of the things will be answered in the next book. I'm seriously not a fan of reverse harem books, BUT DAMN I ENJOYED THIS (maybe because I know that she'll end up with someone else 💀).

So RH actually took me by surprise because I was sure that Cecilia would break up with Sean before getting with Dominic. This story will confuse A LOT, but I definitely know that rereading it would really change the whole experience!

Cecilia Horner:

Her character is so... realistic. She's just like a normal girl trying to find love, also getting cheated on, being humiliated. She has tons of mommy and daddy issues too 😭, and she's so reckless with all the things that happened! She really took 'He's a red flag but I'm colorblind' seriously.

I like her because she's not a doormat and actually stood up for herself many times. It's just her ignorance to the RED FLAGS that were making me frustrated. She's the type who'll get murdered in horror films first or get kidnapped by sitting with a random stranger. *Taking a picture of a driver's license and sending it to your friend won't help when you're dead.*

Her accepting the polyamorous relationship and liberating herself kindaaa felt forced to me. It's like she was hell-bent on making her summer worth and taking a chance and risking while she's damn well ONE TYPE of a girl. Again, she really said 'It's okay to love them both, I did' 💀.

Sean and Dominic:

Sean — this mf is so manipulative. I don't care if he was extraaaaaa nice, kind, funny, caring, gentle because he's a giant red flag, a manipulator, deceiver. He's the type of guy who'll make you fall head over heels with them by showering so much love and affection only to pull the rug under your feet BECAUSE THEY'RE BORED (well, he's certainly the type because he's the 'living in the now' type of guy?!).

"Then I guess I’m sorry to disappoint, but I promise I can do much, much worse.” — what an asshole!!!! His affections mean shit when he says things like this sometimes, and HE DIDN'T EVEN DEFEND CECELIA WHEN DOMINIC WAS INSULTING HER. HE WAS AMUSED! 🖕🏻

He's so cryptic with his answers and barking orders and philosophy like he's a professor, and her giving her choices and decisions were his own manipulations. HE ORDERED HER TO LEAVE HER CELLPHONE AT HOME BECAUSE HE WANTS HER FOR HIMSELF ⛳️. Idgaf if he's the nicer one or loves her. I really thought that Sean was a good guy in this story.

Dominic — now this mf is a bitch but I like him because HE OWNS TO HIS BEHAVIOR. He's an asshole, but I loved every second? Unlike Sean, he's not cheery and all into affections, but he's moody. Also HE HAS DARK HAIRS AND GRAY EYES, SO THAT COUNTS. 🤭

He was rude and closed off, so definitely MORE POINTS to him (I'm being toxic here but hsksj atleast he's not manipulative 💀), and there's just something about him that makes me so damn intrigued with him. He's nice too, and I loved his apology more than Sean's lol. It was good to know that he never lost control like he did with her kskdjsjs 🥹

Cecelia really won at life by pulling these BOTH hot guys, but I still don't like polyamorous and all, sue me 😭😭 NOW I WONDER WHO THE FRENCHMAN REALLY IS and uncover all this mystery! 🚶‍♀️

"My rainy days are yours, Dominic. If you want them." — idk why, but I really like this line! 🥲

WHY HAVE I BEEN SLEEPING ON THIS BOOK??? This book was so surprising and addicting and I couldn't put it down. Now, the first 100 pages were definitely slow, but I knew that there was something more to what was happening and things were going to pick up, which they did. I really don't want to say too much about the plot because it's best not knowing anything. Just know that Cecelia is spending the summer with her dad, who she didn't really grow up knowing, and works for his factory in town. The romance is so addicting and I could not get enough of it. The ending had a lot of secrets revealed and I am absolutely dying for the next book. Where are things going to go??? I need to know!!

THE MOST CRYPTIC BOOK I HAVE EVER READ, and damn if it wasnt irritating!

however, im officially dragging my tush to get ON this SHADY as heck train, and theres no getting me OFF it. not after witnessing that last parting shot at the end with the man of the hour finally showing up. so you better be freakin worth it, FRENCHMAN.

the plot lost me for 90% of the book what with all the secrecy and evasiveness. there was a scene of the love interests (yes, plural cause there were TWO) arguing about their views on materialism, and i was like...just what the hell am i reading?!? the suspense only kept me MILDLY interested cause it wasnt building up to anything so much as it was just stalling. the thought to DNF was never far from my mind.

the romance, despite being MFM, was lackluster. it started as MF then morphed into MFM in the second half. the h & love-interest-1 hit it off instantly while the h & love-interest-2 had a bit of animosity in the beginning. i enjoyed every interaction they had, but it wasnt giving me...life. their relationship evolved too fast for me to appreciate and feel invested in, and there wasnt enough tension. so i was just left feeling so-so.

idk what to think of the h yet. she seemed like the kind of h whom Danielle Lori or Saffron A. Kent would write (young, naive, starving for love, and sometimes borderline pathetic), which based on experiences they could be a hit or miss with me. but at least the h here hasnt annoyed me so far. hopefully, i’ll like her more in the next books. meanwhile, i feel like love-interest-1 & 2 were kinda like Noah and Kaleb (Credence) respectively.

i agree that its better to go into this series blind. on the other hand, idk if i’d have gone through with reading this if i hadnt known that the endgame was an MF, and the M was neither of the two love interests here (thank God!). i think that knowledge sorta affected my perception of this book and deep down i was/am already saving myself for the other true/actual H. the ending really has me excited!

Cecelia Horner accepts a job with her absentee father shortly after her high school graduation in exchange for a hefty inheritance she plans to use to take care of her mother, the parent that raised her all alone while working herself to the bone to make ends meet. The position forces her to move to a new town where she doesn't know a single soul aside from her estranged father. During her time there, she explores her sexuality and opens her mind up to new ideas and possibilities all while giving her heart away in the process.

That's it! That's all I'm giving you about the plot! You don't need to know anything else going into this book. Hell, you don't even need to know that. The best way to experience this story is to go into it blind with zero expectations.

Flock's blurb is vague af, and it's obviously written that way on purpose. Knowing almost any of the details of the story ahead of time will lessen it's impact, and believe me, you don't want to do that! This duet will own your soul if you can resist the urge to spoil yourself.

Kate Stewart is going to fuck with your head a little in this book, but don't worry, she's setting up a fucking masterpiece. It's worth not understanding where the story is taking you at first, because once you arrive, it will take your breath away. Literally in my case due to the uncontrollable sobbing that occurred while reading Exodus,....but I'm getting ahead of myself. Lol

Flock is an unique, steamy, mysterious, and unconventional romance that will keep you entertained, intrigued, hot, and captivated from the moment you begin reading. There's secrets, scandal, drugs, violence, gorgeous men, fast cars, and incredible sex! You're going to fall in love with Cecelia's boys of summer right along with her, so what are you waiting for?

Go grab this book now! While you're at it, grab book 2 too, because you're going to want to jump straight into that one next! Trust me on this one.

Unconventional romance fans, this one's for you!

5 Liberation Can Be Beautiful Stars ⭐

Intense, mysterious, captivating and liberating. I now understand why you should go into this story blind and open minded. This book has the power to reel you in and question the way you've been programmed to think.

Flock led me down an unknown path. Every time I thought I knew where this story was heading, I was blindsided. It's not often that a book is completely enthralling.

"Freaks hide in plain sight, baby.

You’re living proof."

Cecelia has relocated to Triple Falls for the next year of her life. With parents that are estranged, she finds herself now living with a father who is an enigma. Out of her element, she is surprised to instantly befriend Sean, a man as gorgeous as he is mysterious. What she never imagined, is how momentous this would be.

He winks. "It’s all about the company we keep."

"Don’t credit me for being the fun one. We both know I’m not. I’m a ‘stay-in-the-lines kind of girl and you’re, well, you’re the red crayon."

Introduced into a world of a brotherhood that she nor us readers understand, Cecelia quickly finds herself involved with Sean and his friends. With this new association, she begins to embrace a different kind of living. One without limitations.

"Step outside that brainwashing for a few seconds and be honest with yourself. That’s all I’m asking. Just be truthful. In your heart of hearts, if you didn’t have to choose, would you?"

Frankly it's difficult to explain myself without spoiling the story. Not to mention, that as a reader, you never know how the heck this saga will unravel. And that is thrilling. As this is the first book in the Ravenhood duet, I need to truly hold on to my panties for the finale. But what I will say, is that 3 are better than 2. Hot damn! 🔥

Minority opinion but still worth it. What the everloving hell was that?!!

Do you know about the scenario where a train wreck is going to happen and it is ugly but you can still can't pull your eyes away?! That train wreck was this book.

The writing style was really weird to the point I wanted to go to sleep (this coming from a girl who loves exploring new writing styles ). The FMC was annoying and to be very honest, torturous. The hero, Sean, is ridiculously and wholly manipulative and there's no concept of love in his ways. I was partly fascinated and partly disgusted. I mean, the guy can give Ted Bundy a run for his money in manipulation and word games. I did not like Sean at all, obvs. Also, the story is not very interesting at all till 90%. And Forgive me if I don't think that many pages is a good price to pay for excitement during just 10% of the book which ends in a Cliffhanger 🤦🤦 kill me now.

The only character that I liked is Dominic and I would like to see where that goes. Also, i will continue the next book for my "quest for answers".
PS- Easy forgiveness!! I can't. The girl couldn't hold onto her anger for more that 1 day (when Sean calls her to her office, she forgives him and starts pining, ughhhhhh) Frustration is my new friend.

I just finished this book right now and I am not quite sure how I’m feeling about^. What I will say is that I was a bit disappointed in the pacing of the book. It was very slow for the whole book... having said that.. I was still eager to keep reading to find any answers that I can. I ended up overthinking everything I was reading, and because of that I kept interested.

As for the ending, I am honestly confused!! Lol! So of course I now need to dive into the next one right away! I’m really hoping that things are going to pick up and start making sense!!!

I rated this rather high considering that I felt nothing major happened through out the story. The fact is I thought the quality of writing was super, and I was hooked from the very beginning wanting to find out the secrets!

Thanks Steph for another wonderful buddy read!❤️❤️❤️

Where do I start, you guys?! WHERE. DO. I. EVEN. START. First off, I had the pleasure of reading The Ravenhood duet early and it has shaken me to my core. I am a MESS. I can't do ANYTHING but obsess over these characters. I CAN'T STOP THINKING OF THEM. They have CONSUMED me heart and soul! I cry just thinking about them. I AM SO EMOTIONAL over what I read. This is hands down the BEST DUET OF 2020! Words can't do it justice. It is MORE than intense, it is MORE than angsty, it is MORE than passionate and juicy and addictive and twisty and heart-stopping. IT IS SO SO SO MUCH MORE. This wrecks you. It makes your heart bleed. It's utterly consuming, you literally CANNOT pull yourself away from the pages. It's the most unique storyline I have read ALL year. I just... YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IS COMING AT YOU. Get ready, you guys. GET. FREAKING. READY. You NEED this duet in your life. It is a MUST READ. Absolutely unforgettable. A SIX STAR DUET. And what I consider to be a MANDATORY READ for romance lovers. Kate Stewart doesn't hold back and EVERY WORD is passion, magic, angst, heart. I'm so OBSESSED! Completely and totally OWNED. Add this to your TBR.
