“Never feel ashamed for someone else’s actions. You will have your vengeance.”

Wow. This was a wild ride! I already liked these characters from the previous book, but Rebecca Garcia added even more depth to them in Midnight Crown, especially Olivia. After suffering incredible loss and trauma in the first book, it was great to see her finally recognize her own power and worth! If you were hoping for a darker, sexier, vampire romance, this delivers. I really enjoyed the unique vampire lore, political intrigue, found family, and fated/soulmate tropes woven into this story.

“There are shadow parts of ourselves we must learn to embrace and heal before we are whole. It’s called shadow work, and your soulmate is the person who will travel alongside you while you navigate life.“

Not only are Olivia & Sebastian a bit more unhinged, there’s a new deliciously dark male POV, that I’m hoping becomes a “morally grey” antihero by the end of this series.

I loved how bloody, sexy, and violent this was, but there were a few scenes that shocked me… so please check triggers warnings!

Thank you so much Rebecca Garcia for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

“Adormai celebrated passion, love, and desire, making it the most erotic and romantic holiday of them all. In Baldoria, many celebrated with planning their weddings on the blessed day, or proposed. Here, the sangaree mostly took it as a chance to partake in more orgies.”

✮ ✮ ✮ ✮ ✮

Wow. What a great continuation from book one in this series. I absolutely raced to the end, I couldn’t put it down. I love Rebecca’s books, they are action packed, and this one even had Vamp Smut! Wowza! I also have liked that Rebecca had multiple viewpoints telling this book, rather than just Olivia’s character, it really added to the story. This book was really fast-paced and so much happened in such a short bookish time period. There was action, romance, death, family bonding and everything in between.

This book was truly original, and I can’t wait to read part three, especially because yet again it was left on a cliffhanger! A really dark cliffhanger that has me pent up! I am so happy that Olivia wasn’t subjected to what she wanted least in this book (no spoilers), and I’m glad she’s grown a backbone! Although Sebastian will always be my favourite character! Niall, the newest character, coming close behind!

My question is do you, personally, believe there is one true soulmate for everyone?

Highly recommend this series for any fantasy lover. Just beware this is a series and book two doesn’t make sense without reading book one.

I received an advance review copy from Rebecca L Garcia for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

With the revelations and the intentions made known at the end of Shadow Kissed I had HIGH hopes going into this book and let me tell you it did NOT disappoint!! As always please remember to check the trigger warnings. This book is violent and gruesome at times, but refreshingly wicked as it serves up the next installment in this gritty, spicy, bloody vampire romance.

If you hesitated to read Shadow Kissed or were unsure of continuing the series I would absolutely recommend reading both books now that we’re fully immersed in the storyline. Where Shadow Kissed established the world and setting as well as the characters, Midnight Crown firmly establishes the plot moving forward and I have to say I am officially hooked!!

Midnight Crown picks up right where we left off mere days before the ceremonies that are slated to change Olivia’s life forever…but not in the way you would expect. There are plenty of twists and turns and I loved getting inside Sebastian’s head and learning the depths of him and what makes him tick. Olivia and Sebastian show so much growth and maturity in this book (Olivia especially), both independently and together. Despite the ruthlessness of the world they exist in, they both carefully walk the line between dark, vicious killers and hopeful, would-be rulers who imagine a different and more peaceful existence for the Vampires of Sanmorte.

I wish we had seen more of Erianna in this book, but she DOES make quite a few appearances along with Zach and Anna. We are also treated to a third POV from a new character who is entertaining and delightfully twisted and I absolutely love to hate him.

The end of this book was a cliffhanger that I was NOT prepared for so be warned. In the meantime I’ll be counting down the days until book 3 because I am VERY anxious to see where this all goes!!

Thank you so much to Rebecca L. Garcia for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Midnight Crown is the second book in the Shadow Kissed series, and it is an immersive and twisty roller coaster ride! The stakes in Midnight Crown are as high as ever for Olivia and Sebastian, and it was interesting to see them deal with the aftereffects of the decisions they made in Shadow Kissed.

The story is intense as Olivia looks for a way to avoid becoming a vampire, faces difficult and dangerous antagonists, faces major conflicts in her personal relationships, and deals with so many other obstacles. She grows tremendously over the course of the story, and she becomes much more certain of her purpose, which was amazing to see.

Olivia’s relationship with Sebastian is filled with sexual tension and is pretty steamy! And the friendships and world-building are well-developed and fascinating. Even the antagonists are pretty layered and compelling, and after that ending, I’m eager to see what’s going to happen to all of these characters. I always enjoy books with morally grey characters and situations that are much more than they initially seem, and this book has both.

If you like dark fantasy with fated mates, vampires, magic, and a steamy romance, then you should totally check this one out. I would recommend checking out the content warnings because there are some aspects of the story that could be triggering to readers. Special thanks to Rebecca Garcia for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

"We are not ethereal beings. We're complicated, messy things and often, the lines of morality get blurred"

This was a fantastic continuation to the first book of Shadow Kissed. It follows three POVs which I enjoyed as it added more depth and understanding to the story and the characters. We are also introduced to a new character who is deliciously devious. He's a little unhinged but that's what makes his POV so fascinating.

I blew through this book because it's so easy to read and get caught up in the story. I loved seeing Olivia becoming more confident and really coming into who she can be. She and Sebastian really grow in their maturity and it helps develop their relationship and their individual selves. Their chemistry is very real with some very nice spice.

This has an even darker tone than the first book but I feel more settled into the world this time. There are twists and turns with a plot that keeps moving. It also ends on a very real cliffhanger which makes me long for book 3.

Thank you for the ARC of this book for an honest review.

''I want to lose myself in you,'' he said. ''So we can both forget everything, for a moment.'' He divulged his throat against my neck, grazing the tips of his fangs over my skin. ''I want your mortal heart before it stops beating.''

This was a rollercoaster. After how Shadow Kissed ended, we were left with questions and the urge to find out what the hell happened. It's more dark, ruthless, intriguing, spicy and unhinged. I always enjoy good scheming and political aspect in books, and Rebecca delivered it. Plot is moving friends! You will get to meet new characters that are devious. And you will feel hatred to old ones. I did miss Erianna, Zach and Anna I wish we had more of them in this book.

I was happy to see Liv becoming more comfortable in her skin and her powers. There's more depth in her as it was in the first book. We get so experience revelations and betrayers, that affect her and those around her. And there's certainly more to Seb than meets the eye. He's getting more affected by Liv. He feels more alive, softer, and feels more human. And his confession to Liv about the definition of love.. yes, just yes. I adored how he described her giving him a blanket. A small gesture, but oh so lovely. And when they both were consumed by lust - even those sturdy legs for their bed, could not keep their affection tamed haha.

And talk about yet another cliffhanger - Rebecca, how could you! You vixen! I can't wait to see what happens next. I know it will be bloody, spicy and more depraved than before.

''They told me you were weak.''
''I used to be. That girl is dead. This one is sick and f*cking tired of vampires like you ruining my life. So, like I said before, we can do this the easy or the hard way..''

This is a dark vampire adult fantasy romance. The author has a song list in the book which makes reading it so much fun. There is a bonus chapter that meant to be read between books 1 and 2. I am loving the world the author created. And No, I would never want to go into here, there are demon soul sucking vampires!

This book has 3 POV with Olivia the protagonist, Sebastian 😍, and the antagonist well one of them anyway. Olivia goes through so much growth in the book becoming and embracing being the princess of the vampire kingdom. She is becoming a powerful sorceress and I saw the little twist coming. The Gods have plans for Olivia but she has made many enemies in the kingdom.

I didn't see the ending coming, I was quite surprised and loved the cliffhanger! But now looking back I can totally see the build up. The plot felt slow but I think this book is more character driving which is good for me because I love multiple POV in a book. I wanted more of Sebastian in the first book and it was given in this one. Overall loved it. I have been enjoying reading vampire books for the first time this year

A Dark and Delicious Read.

I was so excited to be back in this world and it did not disappoint. It was darker; grittier, tense, sexy (where talking vampire smut here 🥵) and dripping with gothic elements. This is a book you can devour in one sitting or take your time with it, like me, as I didn't want it to end.

Midnight Crown starts of where we left off in Shadow Kissed (which I highly reccomend reading if you haven't already). Olivia is to be turned into a vampire and married within the coming days. Can she find a way to stop the ceremony and keep her magic?

Rebecca spoiled us with 3 POV's in this one 👀 I didn't know what to expect, after those teasers, but I couldn't get enough! The new characters POV was sadistic and intriguing. I loved to hate him.

Now Olivia is living in the castle, we see the political intrigue amp up, as well as the emotions as twists and turns are fired at us from all corners, along with some tragedies 🥲. Olivia is finally becoming bolder. I love this new confident and strategic side of Olivia. I can't wait to see how the scheme's play out and how Olivia and Sebastian deal with the looming threats.

Other than the characters we came to love in Shadow Kissed, which I always need more off, I loved the scenes with Azia. It was heartwarming for Olivia to find someone she could talk to and teach her about her magic, in this harsh world. I just dont know if I trust him, yet 🤔

Highlight of this book. My name appeared in the book, exactly as it's spelt. I now feel like that dedication was written especially for me. If you know you know 😜

I can't wait for the next installment, especially after that cliffhanger!

This gave fated mates, possible love triangle, political scheming, cheating for side characters, slight cliffhanger though it didn’t leave me worried, and touch her and die vibes. This read quickly. I honestly felt myself drawn to a new character that’s been introduced, hello bad boy Niall! I wanted a bit more with the building of the main couples relationship, they slide hard into the insta love trope. I didn’t get a ton of tension or heart flutters from them like I did in the first. In fact, I kinda like the MMC less after this book. The book is good and I would have easily loved for the story to continue. This was more everyone adjusting to a new life kinda read than anything else. It had some fun scenes that you can only get in a vampire read. The side characters are always rich and grab my attention. These characters live in a morally grey kinda of world with an interesting history. I look forward to it expanding. I will 100 percent be picking up the third and fourth books when they come out. 3.75 rounded up to 4

It keeps getting better and better with every chapter and after book one, it just becomes fu**ing explosive. The story is ready to detonate an avalanche of emotions and that damm cliffhanger is the bane of my existence. I don’t why authors love cliffhangers so much, they want their readers to suffer day in and day out. This story has a mind-blowing plot and describes the vampire castle perfectly, I could imagine every bit of it. Rebecca writes amazingly and this one adds another gem to her bag.

I loved Olivia and Sebastian in book one and that love has grown 10-fold in book two. Olivia has grown in every aspect of her character and has dealt with a lot which just solidifies her more. She has become more feisty, blunt, confident, strategic and a surprise which you’ll know when you’ll read it. Sebastian is the perfect man with the accurate amount of darkness in him to go ga-ga about him. He behaves like a brat in the start but then he mends his ways, he’s like over protecting mama bear for his family.

There were many ups and downs in the story, tragedies happen all the time which twists my emotions. A new character Niall’s POV is included and that person is very interesting, he’s a villain but there’s something about him that screams suspense. He doesn’t feel like the way he’s portrayed, it feels like a surprise is coming. I’m sure anybody who reads the series will love it very much. I got to know that this series is four book series and it’s just the second book I read. I’m curious about what happens next and how Olivia and Sebastian will deal with the looming threat.

Midnight Crown picks right up from where Shadow Kissed ended.
Olivia/Seraphina must take on her role of Princess and go through the Shadow Kissed ceremony.
Midnight Crown is a great continuation, it's action packed with a lot of story building. The twists you don't see coming and you are left feeling what the characters feel.
I enjoyed the 3 POVs as it gave more depth to the storyline and characters.

Midnight Crown brings a darker tone than the first book; Shadow Kissed, which is absolutely fantastic.

I really enjoyed this novel and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next installment.

Thank you to Rebecca for giving me the ARC, as always my review is my personal opinion.

Firstly, thank you so much for gifting me an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I want to start off with the dedication page. 🙌🏼 All I have to say is YESS! This was a great vampire romance. There is a lot of plotting, action and some spicy. Similar to the first book, although this book did have a bit more spice. There are three characters point of view. Olivia, Sebastian and a new character Niall. It did take some getting use to. I love Rebecca's writing style. So it wasnt long before I was also engrossed in this new character. I'm definitely looking forward to the third book. Especially after that ending. Again thank you so much for this book. It was so good!

Omg once again I was completely hooked. Olivia & Sebastian are characters that you will never want too forget. This story had twists and some I did figure out but it still had me hooked. Sebastian and Olivia realize something once she is Shadowed Kissed. I don’t want too say too much because I hate spoilers, just you must read this book. I’m dying for book 3 lol even tough this book just got released. I need to know what is going too happen after reading this ending.

So many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming or anticipated! I love it when that happens!
.
Olivia and Sebastian are as cute as ever, their relationship and its development were great!
I enjoyed Niall’s chapters a lot and also just Niall as a character. Who doesn’t love an asshole with no morals?
Astor can go jump off a cliff for real this time and just die, he’s so whiny and annoying. Him saying not to underestimate him had me laughing because he’s such a coward, even now.

I could talk about this series all day I love it so much!! Midnight Crown is such a great continuation of Olivia’s story! I love the world that Rebecca has created and she expands and explains so much more in this sequel! The spice level is obviously higher than in the first book which I really enjoyed. I also liked how different relationships are being developed in this book. I really want to know more about Erianna (she’s one of my favorite characters!). The ending really got me. I did not see it coming! I don’t want to put any spoilers in this review but trust me you want to read this book or series if you haven’t read the first book. I can’t wait for the next one to come out!!! I need to know what happens !!!

Thankyou for an ARC of this book for honest review

What a follow on from shadow kissed, I loved how I was so easily pulled into the world of Olivia and Sebastian and follow them on the next adventure, definitely did not disappoint. The temperature was certainly turned up in this book and boy was it good. Need to cool down, Sebastian is still my leading man !! Love him and I love the connection and chemistry between him and Olivia. The story line was incredible and it each chapter flowed so smoothly after each other allowing me to be pulled in and fully enjoy this book. And that ending what !!!! I can not wait untill the 3rd installment.

Midnight Crown is the second part in the Marked by Blood series by Rebecca L. Garcia. Last year I’ve read Shadow Kissed which I enjoyed reading. The first book was full of action and plottwists, will this part contain as much of it as well?

(Contains spoilers for Book 1! If you haven’t read it, don’t read further. This series should be read in order.)

Midnight Crown takes up right where Shadow Kissed left off. This series! I mean it has everything I want in a vampire story: scary vampires, blood, violence, hot sex, gorgeous main characters, shady side characters, and villains that make you want to end them yourself. I absolutely loved Shadow Kissed and, if it’s possible, I loved Midnight Crown even more!

In Shadow Kissed, Olivia has agreed to become a vampire and to choose a husband in order to save her friends, especially Sebastian, who is now her betrothed. To say Sebastian was unhappy when he learned of his upcoming nuptials with Olivia is putting it mildly. The man was pissed! So now, in Midnight Crown, things get underway in bringing Olivia’s promises to fruition.

Olivia is on a journey unlike anything she could have ever guessed. She is only nineteen when her journey begins in Book 1. Now she is twenty and is learning things about the world that she may not necessarily have even wanted to know. Vampires are monsters that kidnap, feed on, and kill humans. They are vile creatures. Except now, because her father knows who she is, she has to become one of them and will be marrying one as well. Not the gift she was hoping for on her birthday. But she is loyal and kind-hearted and wants something better for the people she loves and the people she now wants to save. She never loses that part of herself. If anything, the best parts of her only get better.

Sebastian is my favorite character. This dark, broody vampire has such a painful past. He is strong but quick to anger, he is loyal to his friends, and will protect them at all costs. He wants nothing more than to be mortal again but Olivia has taken that promise away when she chooses him as her betrothed. He hasn’t allowed himself to love or dream of a happy life with another because he feels unworthy of it. I just wanted to wrap my arms around him and hold him tight. I love watching how Olivia begins to melt some of that ice and his heart allowing her in.

There are so many characters to hate in this book. HaHa. Astor, Gwen, Velda, Sargon, Niall, and Ravena (though her behavior might just be a screen in order to protect Olivia, we shall see). But Kalon is the worst. I want to take his heart myself! He is written so well as perfectly evil.

We can’t talk about this book without talking about the spice! Rebecca writes some of the hottest sex scenes I’ve ever read. You feel all the feelings while reading, though. It’s not just throwing sex on the page. We learn something about the characters through these scenes, even the darkest of them. Bravo to Rebecca for not being afraid to go there and for doing it so well!

There are so many twists and turns. The vile political intrigue and family drama. Power and jealousy drive most of these characters. At some points it seems like there will be no voice of reason, no way out of the chaos. And just when that voice arises, you get that ending! I yelled at you, Rebecca! What a cliffhanger. I can’t wait for Book 3. I needed it days ago actually!

I am so fortunate to be part of Rebecca’s ARC Team. Thank you for allowing me to be included and for the awesome privilege of being among the first to read your books!

I highly recommend Midnight Crown, and this whole series, to fans of paranormal romance, dark fantasy romance, super spicy romance, vampire stories, enemies-to-lovers, fated mates, found family, political intrigue, family drama, and books about becoming who you were always meant to be.

*Please note that this is a dark fantasy romance intended for readers 18+*

✨ARC Review✨

“The animal in me recognized the animal in him, and something changed. It was if we were one, his venom, my blood, were an obsession. An addiction—to each other.”

This was book two in the series, and I was left at the end of the first book wondering where the cliffhanger would take the reader. Olivia, the sorceress is now facing a forced future, as she is to be Shadow Kissed, die, and return as Princess and vampire. Her changing is inevitable and if she denies, her friends will die. There are so many people in the kingdom she cares about, and their lives are on the line based on her choices.

“We are not ethereal beings. We’re complicated, messy things, and often, the lines of morality get blurred.”

However, being in this newfound kingdom, is bringing new light to her heritage, along with lies, secrets, politics, and a fight for the throne and power. A forced marriage of convenience is in order, but could marrying Sebastian be her true fate or split everything apart? Beware, as the cliffhanger is far worse in this book…luckily book three is only a few months away!

What’s On The Pages:
-multi POV
-forced marriage
-soulmates / fate
-vampires
-found family
-torture / murder
-vengeance
-anger/grief
-serious spice

This is book 2 in the Shadow Kissed Series. I recommend reading these in order as there is a continuing plot throughout the series.

Boy Howdy........This book resumes right where book 1 left off. We find Olivia in a precarious situation in being that the vampire court all want her dead......either that or they want something from her. I love the progression that Olivia and Sebation's relationship takes and it is not a love at first sight kind of thing. They do grow in this book and I look forward to finding out how much they love and respect each other. All of the side characters are completely fleshed out and there are numerous ones to discover. I love Erianne and all of her badas$&ness. I need her dagger in my life... lol. Anna and Zach.....hmmmmm is there a bit of a romance coming soon? and Azia, he is amazing. I hope he does not become the bad guy.

The twists and turns in this book will have your head spinning. The betrayals at every turn of the page will keep you on your toes. An absolutely a stunning read and I look forward to book 3 after that major cliffhanger!!! I give this book 4.5 stars as it was a bit to get back into in the very beginning but it did not take away from he story at all. I have rounded up my rating and there is no 1/2 star option. Go pick up this series and find your next vampire addiction!

Oh how I love dark fantasy romance. Especially when it involves vampires, magic, tropes like found family, fated mates and a strong heroine! This one is on the spicier side too (🌶🌶🌶/5). With all that being said, I really enjoyed this one!
If I'm being honest, I don't always pay attention to the dedication page in a book, but the one in this book definitely caught my eye 😂! It literally made me laugh out loud and had me ready to dive in!
I enjoyed being back in this dark, vampy world with Olivia, and watching her become more of a strong, badass character. It was a fairly quick read, I enjoyed the 3 different points of view that were given. Sebastian can be my vampire boyfriend any day, and Niall is definitely interesting.
I wasn't fully expecting the twist at the end and the way it left off has me needing to get my hands on book 3 to find out what happens next!

If you like dark fantasy vampire romance with some spice to it, I would recommend checking out this series! You'll need to start with book one, Shadow Kissed and then continue on with this one and the upcoming third and fourth books!

And we get a new villainous character that brings a lot of pizazz to the story.

Midnight Crown is full of action, twists and turns, and so much drama. We not only get Olivia’s POV, but we also get Sebastian’s and a new character, Niall.

Midnight Crown has a bit of a darker tone to it as opposed to Shadow Kissed and I’m totally here for it! Fast paced and highly entertaining.

How many days until book 3 comes out?!

Rebecca has written yet another spellbinding sequel that will have you anxiously flipping through the pages like no tomorrow!!!

This book is EVERYTHING! I could not put my kindle down til I finished reading this!  And as someone who loves reading books in the middle of the night, it felt so right to read this one in the dark. The setting of the book takes place in a very dark place and some real intense stuff goes down in this book and I was all for it! If I could I would rate it a 10/5 but Goodreads unfortunately won't let me! Anyway, the characters were just as amazing! We even get introduced to some new characters and even a new POV added to the story...  As much as I want to get into Sebastian and Olivia's relationship I will not cause I simply don't trust myself to spoil it but I will say that the stakes are definitely higher and tension is through the roof.... Don't even get me started on that ending! I mean don't get me wrong it was so engrossing but COME ON you're really gonna leave me hanging like that! AHHHH, I NEED THE THIRD BOOK!

And if you haven't already definitely check this series but REMEMBER that this is book TWO not book ONE which is called SHADOW KISSED.

Thank you Rebecca for the eARC!!!

Absolutely incredible. This was a nice sequel to shadow kissed and sets up nicely for the next in the trilogy. This has all my favorite tropes and Sebastian is the best book boyfriend. This book amps up the spice, with some of the best sexy scenes I've read in a while and its much darker and grittier than the first. I really enjoyed the multiple points of view it added a lot of depth to the story. Olivia was much more likeable in this one and I loved her scheming and realistic growth. I love the side characters and wish I saw more of them, but the scenes with them in were chefs kiss.
I can see Niall being a great character in the next book. He is delightfully twisted and leaning to the villain side. I hope we see more from him as he shows the darker side of the vampires.
I like that this series hasn't done the typical vampires are good after all and shows the grittier side. It reminds me of true blood in the darkness of it all and also of from blood and ash.
Shadow kissed was a 4.5 stars for me and this one is 5 stars.

Thank you Netgalley for the arc. All thoughts are my own

Book Review: Midnight Crown by Rebecca L. Garcia
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐.5
Spice: 🌶️🌶️
This review may contain minor spoilers:

Book 2 in the Shadow Kissed series continues right where book 1 left off. Olivia and Sebastian are preparing for their *forced* wedding and her Shadow Kissed ceremony (aka becoming a vampire). With an unexpected outcome, they must learn how to navigate their new roles as Princess & Prince of a people they never intended to rule. This book contains a little more of the fake romance, fated mates, and much more political plotting & scheming.

This book was better in terms of setting for me. We get a map so I know where everything is (yay!). And there wasn't as much moving around. The majority of the plot takes place within the castle and surrounding areas.

The characters I loved from book 1, still loved in book 2. Wished we would have seen more from the original gang in this one. There was a potential plot line for Erianna that got squashed and I spent the remainder of her scenes hoping it would resurface. Maybe in book 3 🤞. And I'm still not sure if Niall is going to end up good or bad? He saves Olivia but is plotting to kill others. He also seems like an asset to the group but may (it key but) be on the "wrong side". TBD!

The romance was better and I found Olivia less annoying in this book. Draven & Astor both tried to make a love triangle happen (stop it boys!). The main relationship item I was not happy about was how quickly some conflicts were glossed over for multiple pairings. Don't set it up to be an issue, for it only to be resolved in a few lines.

Just like book 1 we end with a major twist that had me do a double-take. Looking forward to book 3 to see where this story is going next.

I received an eARC from NetGalley for my honest review.

Midnight Crown follows straight on from Shadow Kissed and it's as deliciously good as the first novel.
We follow Olivia who is actually Seraphina, daughter of the vampire King of Sanmorte marry Sebastian and become Immortal.
The conniving, deciet and backstabbing is still a foot in this novel and the twists and turns keep the pages turning.
The world building and characters all grow with each chapter. It felt like the author put a lot of attention to detail and imagination into Midnight Crown, it's fantastically created!
I loved the storyline, the twists I didn't expect, the ending I was surprised with but I'm now expecting it from that shady character!
I'm really looking forward to the next books in this series
