5/5 stars.
This book, this book SHATTERED me.
I couldn't write a review for the first two days because I was speechless.

This book, this world - so abandoned, so fucked up. And still, people continue to live in it. I'm amazed at people's survival. Even if they are rebels, even if they are soldiers, even if they are just plain poor citizens who still manage to live through terror. It amazes me.

I know a lot of people don't like Juliette. I read a lot of reviews that said Juliette was weak. That she thinks only of herself and the chaos called her life. That she always whining about herself and her troubles, so much so that she forgets that others have issues too. But I can understand her.

It happens to most of us, to be honest. When we live this useless life. A cruel life where we find it hard to find ourselves, difficult to cope with, and therefore difficult to deal with ourselves.

Juliette is strong.
She went through a brutal life. All her life she was treated like a monster. So how can she see herself as someone who isn’t a monster? So what if she found a way out? So what if she got to a point in her life where others actually see her as a human being? She forgot about it. She forgot how to live with people, she forgot how to be human. She didn't know what touch was, or love. The turnaround in her life - from a monster who went through hell, bullying and isolation, to a regular person - was fast. These were only a few weeks. Weeks versus 16 years. It‘s nothing.

She found a person who loved her, who could touch her. And even that was taken from her. And fast.
She knew what touch was for a very short time, and she held on to that knowledge. It made her realize that she might be an ordinary person. But once she discovered that this touch that made her feel human, is hurting the person she love, she took a step back.

There's a quote that says - “If you really love someone, let him go.” And you know what? It rips you from the inside.
She isn’t selfish, she is not a monster and she is not weak.
She’s a human being. Completely human.
And that's the hardest thing, letting a person you love go. Sure enough when he's the only one who ever made you feel truly loved.
In addition, you can see how she cares about others, how she cares about humanity.
Adam said- “You are one of the bravest, strongest people I’ve ever met. You have the best heart, the best intentions. You’re the best person I’ve ever known. You’ve been through the worst possible experiences and you survived with your humanity still intact.”
And I think he’s right.

Now let's talk about the relationships between Juliette and the boys.
In my review for the first book, I wrote that the love between Juliette and Adam isn’t real. I wrote that Juliette fell in love with him because he was the only person who could touch her and the only one who loved her. Touch and love are things she never received. Once she found out that a person could do both things, she “fell in love” with him.

In the first book, I noticed that Juliette liked his touch more than him specifically. I thought maybe, MAYBE in the second book, it would go forward. but no.
You know, there are a lot of books where the main characters "fall in love" right away and become couples quickly.
It makes no sense to me.
You can't fall in love with someone so quickly because you don't really know him. You can be attracted to him, sure, but not to love his personality completely. It takes time.
Rare are the books where the main characters take time to fall in love, which is a shame.
In these rare books, you can notice how the characters get to know each other, understand each other, and then they fall in love.
It didn’t happen with Adam.

In the second book, too, Adam and Juliette’s relationship was focused on the touch. Where is the acquaintance? Where are those conversations you get to know each other? All the conversations between them were pleas of "I can't do without you, let's stay together" and "Juliette, please don't leave me."
It's pretty pathetic.
“I really wish you wouldn’t waste your affection on someone who has to beg for your love.” Said Warner to Juliette. “At least I still have my dignity.” He said to Adam.
And he couldn't be more right than that.
That's the difference between Adam and Warner. Between these two relationships.

Juliette hated Warner in the first book. I can understand that, he's a psycho (but a cute one, shall we agree?). Without conscience. "Without emotions."
But I was from the minority who really liked Warner from the very first book. I understood it from the beginning. I understood where his insensitivity came from. I realized that this was all a mask and walls he had built for himself because of the shit he had been through.
Juliette understood that too. Why? Because although her caring for people remained, she also went through a difficult past. I think the reason she didn't build walls was because she didn't have a chance to do so, she spent her life in isolation. Warner, on the other hand, has always been in the company of people. He was educated to be a ruler, he has learned to be cruel. So he built walls to hide his feelings and become a good warrior and commander.

In this book you can learn about Warner's life. And why so? Because unlike Adam, Juliette did speak to Warner. The conversations between them taught her who he is, she got to know him. And that, THAT’S how we usually get to know a person. This is how we learn to LOVE a person. I even find Warner and Juliette’s conventions much more intimate than Adam and Juliette’s kisses and touches.

And of course I have to put the legendary Kenji into this review. Is there anyone who doesn't like him? I don't think so, it's just not possible.

You know, I have my own Kenji.
My best friend also learned to laugh at everything, bringing joy to blur the brutal world we live in. This is amazing.

Kenji isn’t only funny. He’s also caring, smart and loyal. Kenji and Juliette have the healthiest relationship in my opinion. He can be honest with her, tell her the painful truth in her face and open her eyes. Juliette tends to listen to him, take a step back and try to see if what he says is true. We, as people, find it hard to accept truth that is unpleasant, and if we tend to listen to a person in such a way, it’s because we love him, because we care about his opinion, and trust him. I'm sure if Kenji wasn't in Juliette’s life, she wouldn't be who she was designed to be in this book.

And that's it, I think.
I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to go on to the next books.

his smile is so, so wide — “god, i love that.”
“your name?”
“only when you say it.”
“aaron? or warner?”
his eyes close. he tilts his head back against the wall. dimples.

the first half of the book was so utterly boring—juliette frustrated me with her moping, whining and obsessing over adam. like girl he is an absolute bore, you have hottie aaron warner lusting and proclaiming his undying love for you, move tf on!! but at least she was self aware she was being an emotional mess. but then halfway through i was like what a fucking girl boss she is. overall, i liked her character development and to see her mature finally.

— i love her friendship with kenji. when he put juliette in her place, like yES KENJI YOU TELL HER. he literally ate her up in that scene.

but let me say the plot finally got moving and i couldn’t put the book down!! like the plot twist?!?! HOLY SHIT it finally got so good at the end.

kenji, carried this book—he is possibly one of the best side characters and he deserves his own book.
we see more of him in this book and i fell absolutely in love. he still had me laughing n smiling with his antics and his character development was *chefs kiss*

aaron warner, he plays a major role in the second half of the book.
but I LITERALLY HAVE NO WORDS!! i was going absolute feral over him. the way i was screaming with all the cute shit he says to juliette. especially his love confessions >>>>

Had to read the beginning of this book slowly bc I was busy but yesterday, I finally picked this book up again & just read all day. I'm so obsessed with this series. First off, the romance in this book is making my head spin. I don't know what I want for Juliette on the romance side of things.

I also fell in love with all of the side characters in this book like Kenji, Sonya, Sara, Winston, Brendan, etc. I love a book with a big cast of loveable characters. I also love that this book is full of surprises & twists and a crazy and heartbreaking world. And that we got to learn more about Warner, his dad, and the reestablishment. I never knew what was going to happen next and I can't wait for what's going to happen in the rest of the series.

Reread:
Juliette gets stronger in this books and finally starts to accept what’s happening to her and that basically happens after Kenji has this amazing monologue about not giving up.
Honestly that monologue is one of my favorites in this book and overall seeing Kenji interact with Juliette and form a bond makes me happy.
You can definitely tell how we have a love triangle forming in here and that Juliette doesn’t know what to do but honestly AARON is ruling.
Now I really like Tahereh’s writing especially the crossed out lines so I loved rereading it and finally seeing again why I was team ADAM because you can’t tell me that she didn’t write him as the most amazing love interest ever in this book.

okay I see you aaron Warner by future husband.
Love kenji in this book as well as all the new characters that get a lot more backstory in this book. you can tell that Juliette is still at a point in her life where she is questioning a lot but she has definitely gotten more confident over the course of this book and it's amazing

I am so excited for this book to come out but there is one thing I am seriously worrying about...

The Dreaded Love Triangle of Doom...with Warner

Its no secret that I completely despise Warner with every fiber of my being (a little over-dramatic but still). I am so surprised and shocked that so many people like him. I mean, I didn't know crazed psychotic war maniac was in this year but thank god I didn't get the memo.

Here are the things I am praying will happen:
-Adam and Juliette stay together
-Adam and Juliette get it on
-Adam's body is described in full detail for an entire chapter...or two
-Warner tries to hit on Juliette but she still doesn't fall for him
-Warner gets eaten by bears
-Juliette doesn't spend half the book like almost every other ya character thinking 'but what if I got with the other guy'

In the first book, Juliette said she had no feelings for Warner so I'm seriously hoping that Tahereh Mafi takes the high road and starts something new in ya: the non-love triangle. It would be really cool if Juliette didn't fall for Warner, not only cause I hate him, but because this would show readers/authors that a book doesn't need a love triangle to be amazing! Can't wait for the next book :)

Update: Why is there all of a sudden 'Team Kenji'? Where did he come from? Can't a ya heroine have one guy friend that she isn't attracted to and not just because he's gay? Kenji alright but if he joins this love whatever, I might just die...

Cover Alert!!! Look at that cover! XDDD

This was so much better than Shatter Me. The writing improved significantly, Juliette's character started to grow up a bit and the plot finally started plotting 😌

The beginning was a tad slow but I didn't really mind it much as I found it to be interesting. I did feel the lack of Warner in the first half and although it wasn't a huge deal, things definitely picked up and got serious when he came into the picture.

I got high hopes for Juliette, she has immense potential but she needs to stop being so naive all the time. There was a moment in this book when all I wanted to do was scream at her ffs Warner is my man, I see why people love him so much 😩 He is so patient with Juliette. His love for her shines and am all for it. Kenji was another favorite of mine, I didn't expect to like him much tbh but he grew on me. I appreciated his reality checks and straightforward persona. Adam- meh.

Excited to start with the next one 😍

(0.5/5 only because I'm feeling merciful Kenji exists)

Buddy read with Layla! Go check out her review!

I TAKE BACK EVERY BAD OR EVEN VAGUELY MEAN THING I SAID ABOUT THE FIRST BOOK BECAUSE THIS BOOK IS A MESS.

Words cannot even BEGIN to describe the hate I have for this book. Or the mental torture that it was to read it.

However, before we get to the disclaimer or any of that "proper rant" (an oxymoron if I ever saw one) stuff, I'd like to very publicly thank my darling friend Layla, who I've been buddy-reading this series with. Seriously though, thanks for putting up with my inability to stick with the schedule and all-caps, angry ranting at 2 am. :) Go check out her review!

Back to the rant! And here’s your spoiler warning! For real, guys. This review contains spoilers, and if you don’t want that, don’t read this. If you enjoyed the book, don’t read this either. There's also probably going to be more memes/gifs and random screaming and mild swearing than a structured review. Y’all should know the drill by now.

Welp, let's get started, I suppose.

First, we've got none other than the wonderful Juliette, our protagonist. Yes, that was sarcastic. I'm currently questioning the tastes of everyone who:
- rated this higher than 1 star
- told me that Juliette had a character arc
Because the first point is a crime and the second one is untrue. Juliette's defining trait in this book was that she has difficulty with choosing between Adam or Warner. She also acts like a whiny three-year-old who doesn't know any better and can't be an advocate for herself (by that, I mean that she spends the entirety of the first half of this book feeling sad for herself, not making an effort, and making out with Adam any chance that she got.)

However, Juliette wasn't the most annoying character in this series. That prize belongs to Adam and Adam alone. Sure, I might hate Warner for what a creep he is, but there's something about Adam that completely pisses me off. For starters, he's a complete simp. After Juliette breaks up with him (for reasons which will be explained later), he's constantly begging her to take him back. CONSTANTLY. He says crap like bUt We LuRrRrRvE eAcH oThEr, IsN't ThAt EnOuGh?/?/?/, and acts like he has some sort of cLaIm over Juliette. Reading his novella didn't improve my opinion of him. He's basically a classic r/niceguy.

So I guess that's how Warner became the better love interest. Somehow. I honestly have no idea when this happened, because as soon as he was captured by the rebellion, he had a complete 180 and started acting like a totally normal, not at all unhinged guy. oH wAiT. That's supposed to be the redemption arc? Color me surprised, but isn't a redemption arc supposed to entail accepting and overcoming your flaws, and doesn't that require, oh, I don't know, doing something to prove that you're worthy of it???

Speaking of Adam and Warner, well, we can't exactly talk about those two buffoons without talking about the love triangle. AKA the biggest cause of all the drama in this book. AKA the reason I felt my braincell die, melt, and leak out of my ears.

Right off the bat, the beginning of this book starts off with Juliette and Adam making out. Passionately. Multiple times.

But, of course, the entire time, while Juliette is swooning over Adam's crystalline orbs, she's also swooning over Warner. Just like, in general. Not to mention, she was comparing the two in her head the entire time.

An indescribable amount of mental torture consisting of disgusting descriptions of making out, general swooning, and self-pity (so like a third of the book) later, we finally get to the part where Juliette breaks up with Adam, namely because it turns out that Adam is speshul too and the only reason he can touch Juliette is that his powers allow him to. But he can still die from her touch. If only.

So anyway, Juliette breaks up with Adam, or at least, we think she does, because there's a lot of melodrama and "i LoVe YoU, bUt I dOn'T wAnT yOu To DiE1!1!1!"

Yeah. But get this: they don't actually break up. Or at least, Adam doesn't think so. Because two pages later, he's begging Juliette to take him back, because apparently, tHiS pAiN iS wOrSe ThAn YoUr ToUcH1!1!1! So, naturally, what are they doing two pages after their very loud, very public break-up?

Making out, of course.

Now, Adam and Juliette's on-off relationship would have been slightly more bearable and slightly less braincell-killing if not for a few things:

1. If Juliette wasn't so hyper-obsessed about Warner. Yeah, you read that correctly: Juliette is obsessed with the same dude that she claims was trying to take away all of her rights, and was trying to weaponize her. Not to mention, the same dude who has a serial-killer-like obsession with her. All of this, of course, was happening during the whole on-off drama with Adam.

2. If Adam didn't beg her to take him back every thirty seconds. For real. This book definitely didn't help my initial impression of Adam, namely that he's a piece of tasteless, personality-less white bread. His defining character traits are that he was the only person who didn't treat Juliette like the scum of the earth and is therefore in lurrrve with her.

3. If Juliette didn't throw herself at Adam after all the whatever-that-was with Warner. NO, I AM NOT KIDDING MY DUDES. You see, Warner is captured and brought back to Omega Point. There, after much Drama™, it is revealed that Warner can touch Juliette. And therefore Warner has powers as well. But his powers are speshul, so he doesn't get hurt the way Adam does. So like any sane person, Juliette gets with Warner. Except, not for long. She just throws herself at Adam aLL OVER AGAIN AFTERWARDS. LIKE, BRO. WE KNOW YOU AREN'T GOING TO END UP WITH HIM, SO JUST CUT THE CRAP ALREADY. THE ✨DRAMA™✨ NEEDS TO STOP.

4. IF ALL OF THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN IN THE MIDST OF A REBELLION. (Caps-lock rant warning. Oops?) I'M NOT SURE IF ANY OF YOU HAVE HAD THE "PLEASURE" OF READING THE BOOK REQUIEM. IF YOU HAVEN'T, THEN STAY AWAY. IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD. NOW. WHERE WAS I? OH YES. THIS BOOK REMINDED ME OF REQUIEM, AND THAT IS A VERY BAD THING. WHY? BECAUSE I HATED REQUIEM. LOATHED IT, PIECE OF SHIT THAT IT WAS. THIS BOOK IS ESSENTIALLY THE SAME THING: RANDOM MAKING OUT AND LOVE TRIANGLE DRAMA IN THE MIDST OF A REBELLION. LIKE, COME ON!!! IT MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ATTEMPTING TO OVERTHROW THE FASCIST REGIME OF YOUR CURRENTLY CORRUPT GOVERNMENT. AND INSTEAD OF FOCUSING ON THAT, YOU ARE CREATING DRAMA FOR NOT ONLY YOURSELVES, BUT EVERYONE THERE AS WELL?? DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH. AND GET YOUR FVCKING PRIORITIES STRAIGHT, BECAUSE YOUR RELATIONSHIP STATUS IS NOT AS IMPORTANT AS THE FUTURE OF THE WORLD AS YOU KNOW IT.

Clearly, the only good thing the romance did was prove that insta-love sounds gReAt, but doesn't actually work. We all know that Juliette is going to get with Warner (even though the superior ship is still obviously Juliette x The-Therapy-She-So-Desperately-Needs), so the love triangle drama in this book is absolutely unnecessary. And don't even get me started on that weird scene with Brendan.

If you're reading this book (poor you), just remember that the moment you think the love triangle is going somewhere, it actually takes seven steps backwards, Juliette whines for a couple of pages, and Santa kills an elf.

And no, I'm not done ranting yet.

There is no plot. I think I've mentioned it before, but I'll say it again for the people in the back: a convenient as fork rebellion can't stand in for a plot. It simply isn't done. Well, except in this book, apparently, because that's all that happens. Not to mention the under-developed magic system. Case in point:
- There isn't much detail as to how any of their powers work? That's because the characters themselves don't know!
- Warner is Adam's brother, but can safely touch Juliette? That's because his powers are just conveniently different enough!
- There isn't an actual plan for how the rebellion is going to go? That's because we need to set something up for another book!
- Hotel? Trivago!

The world-building? It still doesn't exist, to the surprise of oh, hmm, not a single forking soul! All we know is that the earth is Seriously Screwed Up™ because of global warming and diseases or some shit, and that's all we're ever going to know. Might as well get used to it.

I would mention character development, if such a thing existed. Instead, we see Warner go from psychopath-irrevocable-obsessed-with-Juliette, to caring-boyfriend. Which was beyond creepy. But at this point, if I don't get to see the best ship come to life (Juliette x The-Therapy-She-So-Desperately-Needs), I'll settle for creepy little Warner, because Adam just isn't it.

Not to mention, the one thing that kept the suffering short in book 1, AKA the short chapters, simply ✨disappeared✨ in this book. Where they went off to, I don't know, but they will be sorely missed. I remember thinking while reading this that this book made me feel like an immortal, because I'd have felt like I had spent hours reading the entire book, when in reality, it was only for about 15 minutes, and less than a chapter was done.

And besides, you know a book is bad when you're forcing yourself through it, with math homework as your only reprieve.

Finally (finally!) there's the writing. Oh, the writing. In some books, you have plain writing. It simply gets the job done. In others, it's so deeply profound that you feel it in your nonexistent soul. And then there are some, who have writing so pretentious, with similes and metaphors and all the nonsensical figurative language you could ever think of, where you spend more time staring at the page, or a wall, trying to understand what the fork the author is trying to say. Now, I'm not going to traumatize any of you (more than I already have) with any direct quotes, but you need to know that the language in this book holds no meaning. It consists of flowery prose, but the petals are lies. Lies, I tell you! Absolutely nothing in this book makes sense, and the language just adds to it!

And that isn't to mention the eye descriptions! Like, Juliette, girl, I get that you haven't interacted with people in a while, but please, do refrain from falling in love with the first person with colored eyes that you see. Because I will forever hate descriptions of eyes now. I am traumatized. #eyedescriptionsareoverparty #canceleyedescriptions2021 #youcan'treadeyedescriptionsifyoudon'thaveeyes (still waiting for that last one to catch on)

Overall, this book isn't a book: it's torture, plain and simple. If you add up everything that kills braincells got on my nerves in this book, it simply isn't mathematically possible for me to have survived it. It got worse the more I read it, which explains why it took us an extra day to finish. So how am I still alive, ranting into the void in the middle of the night about it, you ask?

Simple: Kenji Kishimoto. AKA my favorite character in this entire series (low standard, I know, but still). AKA the only reason this book shouldn't be thrown into the depths of tartarus, but instead burned in a bonfire. Seriously guys, Kenji is so underappreciated in this book, I can't. He's the only reason I didn't die from this book. He's probably suffered many almost-fatal back injuries from carrying this book.

Well, I'm finally done. I apologize for any trauma you may have gone through while reading this horrendously long rant-review.

Juliette and Adam are still hanging out in the underground facility working on the resistance. Juliette tries to learn to control her power while Adam undergoes testing to figure out why he can touch Juliette. Answers are not good and the two have some problems to work through. This was very frustrating. I understood Juliette's reasoning but I really hate the back and forth. Plus Adam just breaks my heart. He is so sweet and wants to make things work with Juliette. But they are also dealing with an unruly hostage who will only speak to Juliette.

Oh Warner. How psycho I truly thought you were. Oh how hard I tried to hate you, to stay on Team Adam. But I really can't resist you any longer! We get down deep with Warner and what you find out is that he is not psycho, his father is! Supreme Commander Anderson laughs that Warner has feelings, laughs that Warner tried to kill him as a boy but couldn't, laughs at how weak Warner is for wanting to be near his mother. Warner took his mom's last name. Awww! I love me a mammas boy! Not to mention how eloquently, and swoontasticly Warner speaks to Juliette.

Kenji is such a hilarious scene stealer! I am Team Kenji along with everyone else but don't worry he is so not a love interest. Just a fun and understanding friend with great comic relief. I once again just LOVE the super descriptive writing style. It does take a few pages to get back into the swing of it but it makes me feel like I am Juliette. I feel completely inside her head and I see and feel everything as her perfectly. I feel her frustrations, her bravery, and her courage. I love how strong she is becoming. It ends similar to the first book, no huge cliffhanger, but it just kind of ends with you still needing and wanting more!

5 Stars just for Warner's very swoon worthy performance
Adam Warner Adam Warner Adam Warner
What do I do?!?!?!

After Chapter 62 (*fans self*) I think Warner...

"You destroy me."
"Juliette," he says and he mouths the name, barely speaking at all, and he's pouring molten lava into my limbs and I never even knew I could melt straight to death.
"I want you," he says. He says "I want all of you. I want you inside and out and catching your breath and aching for me like I ache for you." He says it like it's a lit cigarette lodged in his throat, like he wants to dip me in warm honey and he says "It's never been a secret. I've never tried to hide that from you. I've never pretended I wanted anything less."
"You-you said you wanted f-friendship-"
"Yes," he says, he swallows, "I did. I do. I do want to be your friend. He nods and I register the slight movement in the air between us. "I want to be the friend you fall hopelessly in love with. The one you take into your arms and into your bed and into the private world you keep trapped in your head. I want to be that kind of friend," he says. "The one who will memorize the things you say as well as the shape of your lips when you say them. I want to know every curve, every freckle, every shiver of your body, Juliette-"
"No," I gasp. "Don't-don't s-say that-"
"I want to know where to touch you," he says. "I want to know how to touch you. I want to know how to convince you to design a smile just for me." I feel his chest rising, falling, up and down and up and down and "Yes," he says. "I do want to be your friend." He says "I want to be your best friend in the entire world."
"I want so many things," he whispers. "I want your mind. Your strength. I want to be worth your time." His fingers graze the hem of my top and he says "I want this up." He tugs on the waist of my pants and says "I want these down." He touches the tips of his fingers to the sides of my body and says, "I want to feel your skin on fire. I want to feel your heart racing next to mine and I want to know it's racing because of me, because you want me. Because you never," he says, he breathes, "never want me to stop. I want every second. Every inch of you. I want all of it."
And I drop dead, all over the floor.
"Juliette."
I can't understand why I can still hear him speaking because I'm dead, I'm already dead, I've died over and over and over again.
He swallows, hard, his chest heaving, his words a breathless, shaky whisper when he says "I'm so-I'm so desperately in love with you-"

"He actually begged me not to kill you." Laughs again. "It was just as pathetic as it was surprising."
"Of course then I knew I had to meet you," he says, smiling, staring at me like he might be enchanted. "I must meet the girl who's managed to bewitch my boy! I said to myself. This girl who's managed to make him lose sight of his pride-his dignity-long enough to beg me for a favor," A pause. "Do you know," he says to me, "when my son has ever asked me for a favor?" He cocks his head. Waits for me to answer.
I shake my head.
"Never." He takes a breath. "Never, not once in nineteen years has he ever asked me for anything. Hard to believe, isn't it?"

"Yeah, bro." Kenji puts his utensils down. "You are moody. It's always 'Shut up, Kenji.' 'Go to sleep, Kenji.' 'No one want to see you naked, Kenji.' When I know for a fact that there are thousands of people who would love to see me naked-"

I can’t. I just can’t deal with all those feels!!!
I finished reading this book about two days ago, yet my feelings are still too muddled and my mind is spinning and I just can’t seem to be able to think straight. XD

I swear that book killed me and if Mafi’s third book “Ignite Me” is going to be as good as this one - I seriously don’t even dare to think that it might be even better - it actually might be the death of me! *lol*

All I can do is to try to write a halfway coherent review of “Unravel Me” and considering all the feelings and the emotional rollercoaster I went through “to try” actually seems to be the right choice of words.

I loved that book! I loved it so much I decided to buy the entire “Shatter Me” series in paperback just so I can mark all my favourite moments!! *lol* Okay admittedly most of them will be Warner moments but then again that boy is A.W.E.S.O.M.E.N.E.S.S on two legs! No doubt, you know exactly what I mean! *wriggles eyebrows*

Anyway you wanted a review and I promise I’ll try my very best to give it to you! So yeah, we better get this started right?

The plot:

The storyline begins with Juliette’s life at Omega Point and her constant struggle to become a part of the community. Knowing our young heroine it’s not all too hard to guess that she’s doing a rather awful job at adapting to her new circumstances and even though Adam tries his best to keep her grounded things unfortunately aren’t as easy as they seem to be. If I would have to sum it up I’d say that plot-wise there actually doesn’t happen a lot. Mostly because the rebels are just hiding at Omega Point and try to prepare for war. Considering the love story, there happens so much that you barely get a chance to breathe though. So yeah if you’re a sucker for love stories this book will tear you apart and scatter your remains in all four cardinal directions. If you’re not into YA love stories, teen angst and heart palpitations I’d not only advise you to give this book a wide berth but also would suggest to read another book of your - no doubt long - “to be read” list! ;-P

The characters:

WARNING will contain spoilers and many quotes! XD

Juliette:

I loved how much she has grown in this book. At the beginning of “Shatter me” she was so insecure and frail, already scratching her sentences before she even got a proper chance to think them to an end. Now she has so many different thoughts that she can barely contain them, constantly thinking about everything that’s happening, second-guessing her own decisions, second-guessing other people’s decisions, second-guessing her relationships with Adam and Warner. It was refreshing to see that she’s finally beginning to think about the things she wants and that she actually realised that not everything is black and white. Especially not Warner! *lol* ;-)

“I took what I wanted. I knew better and I took it anyway. Adam couldn’t have known, he could never have known what it would be like to really suffer at my hands. He was innocent of the depth of it, of the cruel reality of it. He’d only felt bursts of my power, according to Castle. He’d only felt small stabs of it and was able and aware enough to let go without feeling the full effects.
But I knew better.
I knew what I was capable of.”

“I think about glasses half full and glasses to see the world clearly. I think about sacrifice. And compromise. I think about what will happen if no one fights back. I think about a world where no one stands up to injustice.
And I wonder if maybe everyone here is right.
If maybe it’s time to fight.”

“Maybe it’s because he’s broken and I’m foolish enough to think I can fix him. Maybe it’s because I see myself, I see 3, 4, 5, 6, 17-year-old Juliette abandoned, neglected, mistreated, abused for something out-side of her control and I think of Warner as someone who’s just like me, someone who was never given a chance in life.”

“All I know is that it’ll never be safe for me to rely on someone else again, to need constant reassurance of who I am and who I might someday be. I can love him, but I can’t depend on him to be my backbone. I can’t be my own person if I constantly require someone else to hold me together.”

Adam:

Meh, I don’t know! While I really liked him in the first book and even kind of shipped him with Juliette, my sympathy for him now seems to have vanished. I understand that he hates Warner and that he desperately wants to be with Juliette. His actions and the way he deals with things definitely don’t get my approval though. I mean he could have easily saved them a lot of heartbreak if he just would have been honest to his girl and he’s so blinded by his love for Juliette and his hatred for Warner that he doesn’t even try to understand their point of view. I’m not saying that he should be all like “we’re one big happy family” but I really would have wished that he would have paused for a moment and would have used his brain! *lol* There are damn good reasons why Juliette decided to steer clear of him and I’m sure that if he would have given her some space and time, she probably might have even reconsidered her decision. I mean it’s obvious she loves him but with his actions he’s just pushing her away.

“How is it possible,” he says, “that I’m this close to you and it’s killing me that you’re still so far away?”

“Because it takes a lot more than blood to be family,” he says. “And I want nothing to do with him. I’d like to be able to watch him die and feel no sympathy, no remorse. He’s the textbook definition of a monster,” Adam says to me. “Just like my dad. And I’ll drop dead before I recognize him as my brother.”

Warner:

“He’s a vision of emerald and onyx, silhouetted in the sunlight in the most deceiving way. He could be glowing. That could be a halo around his head. This could be the world’s way of making an example out of irony. Because Warner is beautiful in ways even Adam isn’t.”

All good things come in threes, right? XD I already said it and I say it again: Warner is just amazing! I still love this boy and he’s easily become one of my all-time favourite book boyfriends!!! I probably could gush forever and still wouldn’t be able to put everything into words so I’ll just try my best to form coherent sentences that might be interrupted by high-pitched girl squees! *LOL* Just to let you know and warn you in advance! ;-P
Okay, here we go! Warner is probably one of the most complex characters I ever had the pleasure to encounter and believe me I read so many YA books that this actually means something!!! XD Over the course of the book he’s actually a prisoner at Omega Point, but since Juliette and Warner seem to have a “special connection” Castle just decided to assign her to interrogate him. There were so many scenes I loved and even though I can’t seem to be able to choose, Chapter 45 and Chapter 62 literally, I mean LITERALLY caused me to whimper!!! I had to read those two chapters twice because I was so overwhelmed I couldn’t even… Jeez I still can’t process it!!!

I love everything about Warner, his honesty, his sweet words, his gentleness when he’s with Juliette, his anger and defiance when he’s around all the others, his broken heart, his fear, his insecurity, his self-confidence, his insolence, his intensity, his cheekiness, how he was able to quote Juliette’s journal, his protectiveness, his bravery his tattoos!!! (OH MY GOD HIS TATTOOS), his thoughts, his mind, his cleverness, his laughter…. See what I’m talking about?! XD

“Finding this,” he says, his voice soft as he pats the cover of my notebook, “was so” – his eyebrows pull together – “it was so extraordinarily painful.”

Let’s just say it and be done with it: I am Aaron Warner trash through and through and if Juliette doesn’t take him I’ll have absolutely no qualms to snatch him away from her! *LOL*

“He stands there, bearing the pain, blinking fast, jaw so tight, staring at his father with absolutely no emotion on his face; there’s no indication he’s just been slapped but the bright red mark across his cheek, his temple, and part of his forehead. But his arm sling is more blood than cotton now, and he looks far too ill to be on his feet.
Still he says nothing.”

“Do you know,” he says, closing the cover of the journal only to lay his hand on top of it. Protecting it. Staring at it. “I couldn’t sleep for days after I read that entry. I kept wanting to know which people were chasing you down the street, who it was you were running from. I wanted to find them,” he says, so softly, “and I wanted to rip their limbs off, one by one. I wanted to murder them in ways that would horrify you to hear.”

“I want to be the friend you fall hopelessly in love with. The one you take into your arms and into your bed and into the private world you keep trapped in your head. I want to be that kind of friend,” he says. “The one who will memorize the things you say as well as the shape of your lips when you say them. I want to know every curve, every freckle, every shiver of your body, Juliette – “

“Please.”
He says “Please don’t shoot me for this.”
And he kisses me.

“ The truth,” he says, “is a painful reminder of why I prefer to live among the lies.”

Kenji:

I really like that he’s kind of become Juliette’s best friend and as a side character that boy really never fails to lighten up the mood. He’s funny and hilarious but at least after chapter 10 we realise that he can be more than just intense as well. XD That boy knows exactly what he’s doing and his mind definitely is at least as sharp as Warner’s. ;-P

“I shake my head, try to bite back my amusement. Kenji is a walking paradox of Unflinchingly Serious Person and 12-Year-Old Boy Going Through Puberty all rolled into one.”

I turn to face him. “Listen, I’m grateful you’re going to help me train now – really I am. Thank you for that. But you can’t go around proclaiming your fake love for me – especially not in front of Adam – and you have to let me cross this room before the breakfast hour is over, okay? I hardly ever get to see him.”
Kenji nods very slowly, looks a little solemn. “You’re right. I’m sorry. I get it.”
“Thank you.”
“Adam is jealous of our love.”

“Yeah, bro.” Kenji puts his utensils down. “You are moody. It’s always ‘Shut up, Kenji.’ ‘Go to sleep, Kenji.’ No one wants to see you naked, Kenji.” When I know for a fact that there are thousands of people who would love to see me naked – “

Anderson:

I hate him!!! I loathe him and I really wish that someone would finally put a stop to his cruel games! That man is just despicable and neither Adam, nor Warner nor James deserve a father like that!!!! I really hope the Reestablishment and Anderson fall together and that said I just can’t wait to read the next book! ;-P

“But then,” he says, laughing a little, “just as I began drafting my plans, my son came to me and begged me not to kill you. Just you.” He stops. Looks up. “He actually begged me not to kill you.” Laughs again. “It was just as pathetic as it was surprising.”

“Anderson’s gun is no longer pointed at me. He forgets me long enough to press the barrel of his gun into Warner’s forehead, twisting it, jabbing it against his skin as he speaks.”

Oh well, as it seems my review finally has come to an end! *lol*

For everyone that actually managed to read until now:
Thank you! I really hope you enjoyed my review and I’d be glad if you’d stay tuned for my thoughts about “Ignite me”. ;-P

And before I forget: This was a buddy read with Megha!!!
We're going to rock "Ignite me" as well! ;-)

HOLY SHIT. This book in one gif:

WHAT WAS THAT. What did I just read. I still can't.. OH MY GOD.
(I can't even express myself anymore. Look at what this book did to me.)
I liked Shatter Me, but THIS book was unbelievable. It blew me away. <3

This was me when

These were my thoughts on chapter 62: (I pretty much died.)

Guys, I'm Team Warner. 100%.
And I honestly have NO CLUE how this love triangle is going to end. I mean, we all knew Bella was going to pick Edward; we all knew Nora would eventually end up with Patch. But here? I HAVE NO IDEA. But I really, really want it to be Warner.

(PS: I love Kenji.)

~1 star ~

The mental toll this took on me....I can't even express it. This completely drained me.

Unravel Me took us on an emotional rollercoaster. But not a good one. Rather one that makes you puke out your guts, and sway around from the unbearable headache. Your head spins until you collapse from exhaustion, only to wake to a fever and throw up whatever remains in your stomach. Yet it is far from over, as the acidic taste remains in your mouth and the nausea refuses to leave.

This book is torturesly boring. I don't even know where to start, but I want to get this review out of the way. This somehow, in ways I cannot explain, was exponentially worse than the first. Even the short chapters no longer seemed so. It dragged and reading it felt like a chore. Hours would pass, and I would find myself only a few pages.

Now onto all the things I hated:

eye descriptions: I hate eye descriptions. My vendetta against eyes started here, so thank you Shatter Me series I don't want to reiterate why I hate it so much, so....join my cause:
#eyedescriptionsareoverparty
#canceleyedescriptions 2021

the writing style:The writing and dialogues are so cringe. I got so much second hand embarrassment it hurts. Who talks like that? Who would ever find themselves in that situation? And the figurative language/metaphors will be the death of me. I would add quotes like last time, but there are so many, and I have so much to say, that I would run out of space. Just know, it is scary. It makes no sense. It is immensely confusing. Logic is just a figment of our imagination it seems. Everything is over flourishy and extra for no reason at all. It was definitely trying to be quirky and new, and that was it's ultimate destruction. It felt so unnatural.

The plot: Whenever something was finally happening, it ended in a blink of an eye. I would get excited when I thought we were getting something, but then all my hopes and dreams would be crushed. We got more pages of Adam begging for Juliette back than anything else of substance. The action scenes were so weak I wouldn't even call it that. The buildup up was for basically nothing. Some character and plot development would be awesome, but when we will get it, is a mystery to me.

World building: we don't know her. We don't get the luxury of properly knowing wtf is going on around here. Why are things the way they are? We may never know. I have accepted that. All I know is that everything is screwed up and everyone is in poverty or something like that. Not sure how it happened, but maybe I skimmed over that because I was so bored.

Juliette: I was told that by the end of this book she becomes a independent badass. Nah. I don't think that's what I would call her. Her swooning over everything and anything was so pathetic. You would think she's never seen a pair of eyes by the way she behaves. She's so indisisive. One minute she's "ADAM, ADAM,ADAM" than she would be "WARNER, WARNER, WARNER". Please seek help. Juliette x therapy is my favorite ship.

Warner: For a second I felt bad for him. I don't know why. Maybe it's because Juliette lead him on so much, than basically back pedalled all the way back, and mentioned Adam. But then I realized I shouldn't feel sympathy for him. He has done plenty of things that he's obsessed, not in love. He need therapy too. He's not mentally equipped to be in a relationship and I wish he wouldn't always show up at literally the worst times. The plot conveniences in this book were outrageous. Adam and Juliette are fighting? Guess who shows up. Adam is begging Juliette to be with him? Guess who shows up. Juliette is telling Adam about how she cheated (which btw isn't even called that, and made into something so minor) on him with Warner, and how she kept the fact that she can touch him a secret all this time? Guess who shows up.

Adam: Arguably the worst character, but to be fair, I hate them all regardless. Or maybe I only think that because I read his novella, and I have never felt so bored and annoyed at the same time. He's so unappealing it pains to think of him. He's like the "Gale Hawthorne" of this love triangle. I preferred him when he had no personality. But side note...I know, you probably didn't know this....BUT he has blue eyes!! It's almost like it wasn't mentioned a million times. I don't know why this book is persistent on making it seem like he's a choice. He clearly isn't.

the Love Triangle: Just let Warner and Juliette get together. We all know it's going to happen. Just get it over with. Don't pain us with all this pointless angst and drama.

I'm sorry for packing all my incoherent thoughts into this review, so in exchange, as an apology, here is a meme I made:

I do hope the next book is better. I really do. But it's hard to be hopeful. Just give me more Kenji, and perhaps I will overlook some things, because so far, he seems to be the only good thing about the series. I lived, loved, and laughed at the part where he lectured Juliette about how annoying and whiney she was being.

Even the covers are deceitful. The beautiful colors are only there to trick you like a Venus Fly Trap, which ironically was one of the metaphors in this book. But whoever thought frosted eyelashes was good idea doesn't deserve rights. Good day and good-bye.

⁀➷ Reread #1: (Jan 2024)

・:*:・゚4/5 ★

I already loved this one the first around, so i was so excited to reread it- and it DELIVERED 😩😩 This really felt like the turning point in the series- the first book was kinda bad ngl but from here they get GOOD 🤭🤭💘💘

“Books are easily destroyed. But words will live as long as people can remember them.”

I think Juliette's character development was done really well- she was still really annoying at the beginning, but by the end, she has really grown into her powers. She's finally becoming badass and i was 👏 here 👏 for 👏 it 👏 I also lovedd all the Kenji content in this book- he is hands down the best side character and his humour made this book sm better 🤭🤭 KENJI SUPREMACY ✋️

“The man is moody as hell.”

“I am not moody—”

“Yeah, bro.” Kenji puts his utensils down. “You are moody. It’s always ‘Shut up, Kenji.’ ‘Go to sleep, Kenji.’ ‘No one wants to see you naked, Kenji.’ When I know for a fact that there are thousands of people who would love to see me naked—”~ KENJI I LOVE U

And i ATE UP all the warnette content in this book 😩😩🦋🦋 All the warner scenes had me screaming crying throwing up, giggling, kicking my feet, running laps around my room. The tension between Warner and Juliette was PERFECTION and Chapter 64?! *pterodactyl screeches* 😮‍💨😮‍💨

“I want to be the friend you fall hopelessly in love with. The one you take into your arms and into your bed and into the private world you keep trapped in your head. I want to be that kind of friend. The one who will memorize the things you say as well as the shape of your lips when you say them. I want to know every curve, every freckle, every shiver of your body.

I want to know where to touch you, I want to know how to touch you. I want to know convince you to design a smile just for me. Yes, I do want to be your friend. I want to be your best friend in the entire world.” ~ i dare you to read this and not fall in love with warner immediately

All the juliette and adam drama tho- 🥰🔪 it made me want to punch the wall. I will be taking great pleasure in skipping adam's novella<3

“I want so many things,” he whispers. “I want your mind. Your strength. I want to be worth your time.” His fingers graze the hem of my top and he says “I want this up.” He tugs on the waist of my pants and says “I want these down.” He touches the tips of his fingers to the sides of my body and says, “I want to feel your skin on fire. I want to feel your heart racing next to mine and I want to know it’s racing because of me, because you want me. Because you never,” he says, he breathes, “never want me to stop. I want every second. Every inch of you. I want all of it.”

“Please.”
He says “Please don’t shoot me for this.”
And he kisses me.

Overall, if you read the first book and didn't enjoy it, PLEASE still try this one- it is sm better and warner was just SO GOOD in this book 😩😩 I had such an amazing time rereading this!! 💘💘

《 2024 Challenge: Book 17 of 115 》

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Reread time 🤭🤭 I'm officially back in my Shatter Me era, so I'm so excited for this one!! 🥹🥹💓💓
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

⁀➷ Original review: (Feb 2023)

This was SUCH a good time!! 🤩🤩 I tried to go in with realistic expectations bc I didn't love the first book, but it surprised me with how entertaining it was! Such a good second book 🤌🤌

“Books are easily destroyed. But words will live as long as people can remember them.”

Starting with the characters! 😃 Tbh I didn't love any of the characters in the first book, but they really started to shine in this book. Though some of them also went downhill... *cough* Adam *cough*

➡️ Juliette:

Juliette really irritated me in Shatter Me bc she was super whiny and annoying. But she actually got better in this book! 🥳🥳 (thank goodness) She finally went through some growth and became a lot more developed. She's becoming a lot more likeable, which was great. And I also loved to see her growing relationships with certain characters... 😏😏

➡️ Kenji:

Ahhhh I love Kenji sm!! 😍😍 He's basically the 'clown' of the group and his jokes always just lighten up the mood sm. He's literally so entertaining to read about and I'm also loving his growing friendship with Juliette! 🙌 He would probably be my fav character if not for someone else... 🤭

➡️ Warner:

Sorry Kenji, but Warner HAS to be my fav character 🤭🤭🤭

If you don't know me, hi, I'm Grace and I love morally grey characters. And Warner is the perfect example of why 😍😍

THIS MAN. I'm OBSESSED!!! 😍😍🔥🔥 You know the person who always seems so put together and perfect (bc he is basically) but hides their emotions deep inside? And only opens up to certain characters... *screams* That is the perfect description of Warner. That trope works so well on Warner and I love him. I am officially Team Warner now 👊❤

➡️ Adam:

Hmm. Hmmmmmm. 😑😑

I didn't not like Adam in Shatter Me, but I wasn't a fan either... he just seemed bland. In here however, he annoyed the heck out of me 😤😤 He was always stirring up unnecessary drama and just being super needy and whiny, and I was just over here rolling my eyes and face-palming. Like, he is SO dramatic 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Pls shut up Adam, you're annoying me 🙄🙄

Overall, a very solid cast of characters. Warner the loml, Kenji my fav comedian and a Juliette who isn't whining all the time! 😁😁 Excluding Adam, I really liked all the characters 🥰🥰

“The man is moody as hell.”

“I am not moody—”

“Yeah, bro.” Kenji puts his utensils down. “You are moody. It’s always ‘Shut up, Kenji.’ ‘Go to sleep, Kenji.’ ‘No one wants to see you naked, Kenji.’ When I know for a fact that there are thousands of people who would love to see me naked—”

Next, the writing! One of my main issues with Shatter Me was the writing. It was written in that confusing way, with loads of strikethroughs and the weirdest metaphors. I understand it was supposed to reflect Juliette's mental state, but it just made my reading experience a bit unpleasant.

But I feel like there was loads of improvement in the writing here!! It still had the strikethroughs and some metaphors, but it was a lot easier to read and I feel like it was just a lot more polished. I actually am really starting to like Tahereh Mafi's writing!! 🥰🥰

The plot was pretty good! There was a decent amount of action and drama, which kept me entertained and speeding through the pages. It was literally so entertaining. I wouldn't say that this is for you if you want something SUPER plot heavy, but if you want to just come along for the ride you'll enjoy it sm 🙌

“Have you ever had a girlfriend, Kenji?"
"What?" He looks mortally offended. "Do I look like the kind of guy who's never had a girlfriend? Have you even met me?”

Lastly, the romance (basically the best part of the book) If I'm being honest here, the only reason I continued this series after the messiness that was Book 1, was the romance. I'd seen so many quotes and I was curious... and it was completely worth it 😍😍 Literally the romance hasn't even fully developed yet and it's already so good. The tension omg- I was eating it up 🤭🤭🤭

The only thing about the romance I didn't like was that stupid drama with Adam and Juliette 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I can't with Adam- If you want to preserve your sanity, just skip those parts and move on to the REAL romance 😏😏

ALSO CHAPTER 64 🔥🔥

“I want to be the friend you fall hopelessly in love with. The one you take into your arms and into your bed and into the private world you keep trapped in your head. I want to be that kind of friend. The one who will memorize the things you say as well as the shape of your lips when you say them. I want to know every curve, every freckle, every shiver of your body.

I want to know where to touch you, I want to know how to touch you. I want to know convince you to design a smile just for me. Yes, I do want to be your friend. I want to be your best friend in the entire world.”

Overall, I loved this!! 😍😍 You have to try this series if you want:

✔ Unique writing style
✔ Cool cast of characters
✔ Loads of entertainment
✔ Amazing romance

I know the hype is scary huge but trust me, it's worth it 🤌🤌

WHAT CAN I SAY I LOVE IT!!! And I can't believe this is like the 5th time I've read this and I still noticed new things.
This reread I was really focused on the dynamics between Juliette and Warner and Juliette and Adam. There's so much new stuff I noticed about how Adam drags her down versus how Warner exalts her and builds her confidence. Ugh I love it. Also chapter 62 is still the best chapter of all time and my favorite scene from the whole series is chapter 50 in this book so I was thoroughly clutching my heart the entire time

Reread April 2017
I have always said that this is my favorite book in the series. Accordingly, I have read it only sparingly, because it gives me so many emotions that it basically inhibits my functionality after I finish it. So why did I pick this up in the middle of the semester? No idea. But returning to this was such a grand 'ol time, especially because it's been nearly 3 years since I've reread it and I was reacquainted with some scenes that I had forgotten even existed.
One thing I will say, though, that is sort of breaking my heart, is that I did not have such a reaction to this book that I used to have. I don't know if it's because i'm in college now, if i'm in some weird reading mood, if i needed to have read the series chronologically, but I really felt numb to this entire thing. I remember the last time I read Unravel Me, I had to actually put it down because I was sobbing and it was affecting me so hard that I had to take frequent breaks. This time? I barely batted an eyelash rereading some of my favorite scenes. No butterflies. No breaks.
I don't know if this means I'm somehow moving on but this book will always hold a special place in my heart and I love it so much, even if my teenage fangirling tendencies are (apparently) wearing off. I anticipate I'll read Ignite Me when I'm home on Easter break.

what in twilight- by- stephenie- meyer- hell was this book

i'll tell you a little secret about myself. i used to be... twilight obsessed. i'm talking: got upset that the filming location changed from forks to vancouver, worried about integrity of the book to script adaptation, was a part of a twilight collab youtube channel endorsed by stephenie meyer... that kind of obsessed.

so, by proxy i sort of... loved this??? yeah objectively, it's total trash. this is thinly veiled smut, parading as "dystopian." but i'm such a sucker for it.

*spoilers ahead please proceed with mild caution... seriously though just a name reveal spoiler

as i explained last book, there really is zero plot or world building in these books. i mean, truly, it's horrendous. any hint of plot comes in and instantly i understand "oh this is just a way to keep our horny teens away from each other." but seriously, it's fine. we'll just talk about characters instead

adam, a man who can frankly just take me far away while i swoon forever:
- he loves her but CANNOT touch her [are you SHOOK can you feel the ANGST???]
- not only is he NOT a creep but he's also not the kind of fuck boi that tells you over and over he's going to change and begs you for a second chance.... he's clearly better than that
- he's not weepy or pathetic. that would be LAME

everybody's favorite BAD BOI! A-A-RON
- CRYSTAL GREEN eyes, COIFFED blonde hair that sometimes gets messy & and icy hands (seriously how is this not twilight)
- he LOVES her and can TOUCH her
- he is most definitely NOT a stalker who stole her journal and memorized passages to read back to her
- he really isn't the type of guy to encourage you to murder people
- doesn't kick dogs

and jeweltone just continues to wax poetic about the cold breeze on her hard nips & the intricacies of being like ~so bad~ because her hands are killin tools. all in a day's work honestly.

tbh just waiting for the sociopath & jujubee to consummate their love so i'll be reading the next book this week. stay tuned for riveting updates

❥ 5 / 5 stars

Holy crap! I’m not gonna lie to myself or anyone. I like it. I like this book. I usually have second book syndrome but this problem didn’t happen to me with Shatter Me series because this book is so much better than the first one and I’m impressed. Even though I super hate love triangle like this, I can’t stop myself from reading it. It was frickin’ addictive and I’m officially addicted to this series. No way I’m not going to continue it.

P.S. For the book alone, I would give it 4 stars but thanks to my love for Kenji, so 5 stars for Unravel Me !

OMG THIS WAS AMAZING.

WARNER MARRY ME PLEASE.

BUT BUT... *ugly sobbing* Chapter 62 was just so much PAIN. I mean, I really loved that chapter, it was really intense (and Warner took my breath away), but OH GOD, Juliette. I wanted to slap her so hard! I couldn't believe her! Warner was so vulnerable and sincere and beautiful and she just broke him. AGAIN.

Anyway, this whole book was awesome, it had me glued since the first page, but mostly because I couldn't stop reading before Warner appeared again, and when he did, I just couldn't stop anymore. I read this book in just one day. I was so, so inmersed in the story <3.

I really liked Kenji, he was awesome, so was almost everyone at Omega Point. About Adam... I felt pity for him in this book :/. He's just so desesperate begging for Juliette's love and gah, that's the kind of guy I can't stand. So needy, so clingy.

AND YES I'M IN LOVE WITH AARON WARNER ANDERSON.

Team Warner all the way <3.

This book was a huge step up from Shatter Me! Tahereh impressed me big time. I think what makes these books so enjoyable are the characters. Each are interesting and have so much depth. After about 100 pages I found this book sososo hard to put down. I'm interested to see how Ignite Me ties things up!

Ngl besties. I was sceptical after finishing the last one, but you didn’t lie. Things got a lot better with this one, and thank goodness for that.🙂‍↕️

The plot is way more dynamic. In the last book it felt like we were just an onlooker watching as things happened to Juliette, in this she actually feels like an active participant in her own book.
My relationship to Juliette as our fmc is a bit divided though. Reading this felt a bit like what I imagine it is like looking at your little sister growing up. She starts to make decisions for herself, often stupid ones where she's in the wrong.
Do I get why she does things the way she does? Sure, but it's also incredibly frustrating to watch her go through it and continue to make these idiotic decisions. At the same time you cannot help to feel a little bit proud that she is stepping out of her comfort zone, trying to learn and figure her way out.

A character that deserves all the praise and love is none other than Kenji Kishimoto.
His patience in handling miss drama queen herself(seriously, how many times can a girl spiral in one book) is out of this world. He manages to be the perfect blend of serious and funny, and I loved seeing Juliette opening up herself to a friendship with him.

On the topic of relationships. I'm pretty sure I was over Adam and Juliette already in the last book. It was way too rushed, instalovie and dramatic for me. So following them in the first part of this book was a bit tiring at times, but tides changed the more we got of Aaron.🤭 They just simply feel much more natural. I wouldn't say I am obsessed yet(probably halfway there though), but I'm definitely starting to see it. Their discussions in his room definitely made my heart feel all warm inside.
This book also reminded me why I hate love triangles and try to avoid them at all costs. The fmc dragging it out by saying shit like "I love them both" when it's clear to everyone but her that she has only one obvious choice. If you truly love them both do a RH situation otherwise just make up your mind girlie, I am not gonna wait for you.😗

"I don't know how to hate you anymore. Even though I want to. I really want to and I know I should but I just can't."

On another note, I find it so refreshing with a female character who's power is just simply strength.
I've read about a lot of strong and powerful fmcs, however I do still think it's common that powers are split into gender roles, like so much else in our world. It makes me happy to see a fmc with a power of strength and her finding herself in it.

Overall I feel way more emotionally invested in the plot, characters and journey onwards after reading this. There are parts where I can tell it's meant for a younger audience. Some reveals or explanations are a bit too simplistic or convenient for my taste, but with that in mind I still definitely had a great time with this.

This book was definitely better than its precursor in terms of plot and character development. The romance in this book made my heart flutter and it took every ounce of self control for me not to spontaneously combust. The last few chapters paced rapidly with an interesting turn of events.

As Juliette is brought to Omega Point, a place for people like her and also the headquarters for rebel resistance, she learns to acknowledge and make fruitful use of her power.
She is no longer a mere weapon or tool for The Reestablishment to exploit. She is free to love Adam.
As war closes in, and new revelations about Adam's ability are revealed, Juliette has to make a decision between her heart and Adam.

I loved how the characters develop so much since the first book.
Juliette learns to control her power against her better judgement and is confronted with difficult and painful decisions to make. Her tempers gets the better of her more often that not and watch her try to come off clean from all of it was amazing.
I felt slightly annoyed by Adam and although I tried liking him, Warner kept coming and going: hotter and more charming than ever and my mind was an untangled mass of thoughts, all about Warner. He's undoubtedly the bad guy, but I couldn't help but drool over him despite my better judgement.
It was fascinating getting to know more about Kenji's abilities as he comes out funnier and wittier than usual. He saves everybody on countless occasions and without him, it would have been impossible for them to stay secure on dangerous missions.

The writing of the book had a really smooth flow, and the metaphors used were deep and beautiful. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the over exaggeration of Juliette's thoughts. Pages and pages were filled with her thoughts about even the most trivial of things and I had to get through them with a lot of patience. Other than that, the narration was enticing and plot twists were dropped like bombs amidst all the chaos.

A story brimming with rigorous action, swoon-worthy romance, unexpected plot twists and a final cliffhanger that will have you aching to read more.
