Audrey's new step-uncle, Grant is the only person she can tolerate being around this Christmas. He treats her like an adult and tempts her like no other man has before. Being together is forbidden, but it's Christmas, and Grant and Audrey are headed for the naughty list...
Sara Cate is a USA Today best-selling author of steamy romance and sexy book boyfriends. Although she writes a wide range of tropes, Sara is best known for her age gap and taboo romances. One thing you can expect from her entire collection is heaps of steam and plenty of angst.
Living in Arizona with her husband and kids, Sara spends most of her time reading, writing, or baking.
I’m not always a fan of instalove but if it’s done right I’m all in. And Ms. Cate did an amazing job and I was hooked from the get go.
Audrey’s a Scrooge and she meets her match in her mother’s new husband’s stepbrother. They rely on each other to get through the holidays and in the mean time manage to fall head over heels for each other.
Man the life he offered her made me super jealous. Travel for most of the year? Paint? Run a cabin resort during the summer? Yes, yes and hell yes. Lucky girl right there.
Plus the chemistry was off the charts and the steam was red hot. I just hated that it wasn’t longer.
This was a cute, taboo, insta-love. It’s an age-gap story between a 19 year old and her 40ish step-step-uncle. It’s not really that taboo. I find the blurbs often oversell the forbidden nature of these relationships as the author inevitably backs off one way or another. In this one he’s her mother’s new husband’s step-brother, so there is barely a connection. She’s just met him so he hasn’t known her since she was a child, only he’s 20 years older than her. 🤷🏼♀️ But it was a cute insta-love at Christmas and Grant helps Audrey stand up to her mother and pursue a career in art, instead of law school where she has been very unhappy. If you can handle age-gaps with very young FMCs, this is a good one. I’m a bit torn on a 19 year old saddling herself with an old divorced guy but he was all about her and her dreams so this was ultimately ok for me. A Christmas novella from the delicious dirty mind of the Queen Sara Cate!!
With most novellas we love and adore they are never long enough and that was the case for this one too. Audrey was immediately smitten with her new step uncle Grant as he was with her. Never fear though, Christmas has a way of making miracles happen and these two not only get their mistletoe kiss they get a whole lot more. *wink wink*
This was a fun holiday novella! Age gap (she’s 19, he’s 40), a bit taboo (hero is new new step-uncle), and delicious! Audrey is a pre-law student home from college for Christmas break, spending the time with her mother and new stepdad. Also there for the Christmas weekend is Grant, the step-brother of her new stepdad. Grant and Audrey hit it off right away, they both aren’t fans of the holiday and start spending time together during all the family-time festivities. Grant owns a lake resort that he runs during the summer and earlier in the year went through a divorce, he lives in an RV the rest of the year and he and Audrey sneak off to it for some fun. I liked seeing Grant want whatever would make Audrey happy, he can tell she isn’t in law school and convinces her that her art dreams are realistic.
This was a freebie novella from joining the author’s newsletter. They do move fast and everything happens in just the Christmas weekend but it’s a short novella so I didn’t really mind, especially since the connection was believable. It’s short, a little bit sweet, a little bit steamy, and just fun! It was exactly what I was expecting.
This was a sweet and cute Christmassy insta-love story. It’s heavy on the insta-love, but I found that I didn’t mind that. I liked how Grant and Audrey bonded over their hatred for Christmas, and as they fell for each other, their hate for Christmas slowly turned into something that they loved. I also enjoyed how they brought out the best in each other, and supported each other. Their chemistry was chef’s kiss. This was sweet with a touch of taboo and spice.
WHAT TO EXPECT: ✨ Forbidden holiday romance ✨ Age-gap ✨ Light taboo ✨ New step-uncle ✨ Smart, artistic FMC in college ✨ Supportive, wise, divorced MMC ✨ RV sex
Honestly, if you just want a short, fun, sweet, smutty, forbidden holiday romance, this is it!
I really liked the main characters. Audrey was young and funny, while Grant was stable and sexy. Their connection was instant and the chemistry was off the charts. Of course, the story is a little too short for any strong emotions or deep relationship development, but Sara Cate did a great job making me believe their romance.
I 100% recommend reading, especially during the holiday season! Hoe Hoe Hoe! And Merry Christmas!
I love Sara Cate, but this was not very good. The thing was though, it was short enough that I don't think I care 😅.
It is only like 65 pages, so it really shouldn't even count as a full book, but I'm certainly counting it lol. I didn't expect anything other then for it to be a spicy little read set at Christmas time and thats exactly what it was. It was cheesy but a fun little Christmas novella and that works enough for me right now!
Let the record stand that I love Sara Cate still, and will indeed read anything she writes (even this 🙃)
4.5/5 stars This forbidden holiday romance was so much fun to read. The Naughty list has an age gap, delicious spice, tension, and a touch of angst.
At the start of the novella, Audrey is home from college for Christmas. She is hiding from her mom and her mom’s new husband when her recently divorced and much older new step uncle, Grant, arrives. The two have an instant attraction and bond over their general dislike of Christmas.
The chemistry in this story is really hot and the plot moves quickly. I do wish this story had been a little longer, but I do feel that way about pretty much everything this author writes. I never want Sara Cate’s books to be over. I highly recommend it for a short and spicy holiday read. You can find The Naughty List on Sara Cate’s website for free.
This time she’s given us a holiday novella filled with forbidden romance, unlikely pairs, and a whole lot of family drama.
When Audrey meets her new step-uncle, Grant, she realizes he’s the only one who she can truly stand at this family holiday gathering. What’s better – he’s the only one who doesn’t treat her like a child and truly seems to see her for who she is. And Grant is quickly realizing the same about her.
But they can’t be together. Of course they can’t. She’s his brother’s new step-daughter. And the age-gap can’t be ignored… Can it?
Tropes: - Forced proximity - Holiday novella - Age gap - Forbidden romance - Taboo romance
Love at first sight happens between 19 year old Audrey and 40 year old Grant. Grant comes into her life when his stepbrother marries Audreys’ mom. Set over a 3 day weekend it moves real fast. There’s some grammatical errors, but considering it’s free on Sara Cates website I won’t dock it for that. This was a cute Christmas novella.
A short and fun taboo christmas read! I enjoyed the instant connected between Audrey & Grant. Grant pushing Audrey to speak up for herself and go after what she wants in life was sweet and added a bit more to the story. I wish the story was a bit longer but I think I personally just enjoy feeling more attached to characters!
Sara Cate had never disappointed me and this Christmassy novella wouldn't be different. I love how she managed to make this so emotional in such a short space. And she really exceeds herself at writing age-gap stories. Audrey and Grant are so good together! I would have loved a full-length book, more angsty, about them.
This holiday instalove novella is free on the author’s website.
It wasn’t that taboo, as the MMC is her new step dad’s step brother, which in my eyes is like “a friend of a friend”. The age gap was more than I’m usually comfortable with (she’s 19, he’s in his 40s), but their dynamic was pretty sweet and he was very encouraging of her following her dreams.
This one just didn’t work for me. It was fun and quick, but I felt like even for a novella it was rushed. I someone who usually doesn’t mind insta-love but it just didn’t vibe with me this time around.
Loved the book Sara is an expert in the Taboo relationships this is an age gap of 19/40. A holiday romance between a girl and her new stepfathers step brother. They bond over their hate for Christmas. He pushes her to live for herself. Short novella and the spice was great as always.
