Dangerously Deceptive is not a typical love story between Kellan and Shayla. This books is so much more. A wonderfully written book by an author who tells a powerful story between two characters who go through extremely tough aspects in life. It is raw and emotional and heartbreaking and just so much wrapped into one book. I want you to understand that this book is a powerful story that has a meaning and delivers a story to its fullest.
I don’t want to give anything or too much away on this book because I believe everyone should read it and be able to feel how deeply this book will impact you. Now to the characters. Kellan is the sexy geek everyone knows to love. He is definitely the light to this story and cares so deeply. Shayla, you should not sleep on her. She is powerful and has so much in her life happen to her that I for one love her character and wish so much for her. There is also Jamieson aka Whiskey. He is an attractive character who is friends with Shayla that is worth mentioning. The story between them is truly something. I struggle to find words because it’s a lot to learn in this book.
I am so happy I read it, but I don’t know what else to say other than it was a lot and emotional.
I was happy, mad, sad, upset, everything you could feel in this one book. I don’t know how I’m gonna go read my next reads because that one took me down. This book was NEEDED to give Kellan the story he deserves. Even if it was such an emotional gut wrenching book, it is needed and I can’t wait to get more for him! I am dying for the next book in the series and to continue more of this world.

Dangerously Deceptive is not your typical love story. In fact, it is an original, masterfully written novel that will pull at your heartstrings and elicit all of the feels. It is raw and gritty and the author provides the reader with the understanding of just how far one would go and just how much one would sacrifice for the person you love.
I do realize that this review is rather vague and that is intentional. Kellan is a sexy, geeky hero who I positively adored! I love his protective nature as well and the interesting (and unique) skill sets that he has. As for Shayla, I was prepared not to like her, but as the author peeled back her layers, I came to really feel for her. Her brokenness and vulnerability resulting from all that she has endured will bring tears to your eyes but she is a survivor who is remarkably strong. There were moments where I wanted to shout at her but for the most part, this complex heroine burrowed her way into my heart. Jamieson aka Whiskey is an interesting character and my thoughts about him are all over the place! Earlier in the novel, I wanted to yell at and shake him. As his character evolved and I learned more about him, I did come to love him and eventually found myself swooning.
This novel is not an easy read, but it is a story that will stick with you and you will marvel at how well the author is able to create a remarkable journey for these characters. Dangerously Deceptive is dark, heartbreaking, but also illuminates hope towards the future. This novel will make you angry and make you cry. You will also be fanning yourself during the super hot scenes (all MF). As this is a prequel, these characters’ journey is not over and I am looking forward to next book.
Dangerously Deceptive is book 2 in the Beautifully Brutal series. You can dive right into this novel and not be lost, but I do recommend reading Black Wedding for the full reading experience and because it is that good.

I fell in love with Kellan when we first met him in Black Wedding and I was so excited when Emma said we would be learning his backstory!
I tried so hard not to get attached to Shay (if you've read Black Wedding you'll know why!) But Emma just made me fall in love with her, she goes through so much in this story 😭
And Kellan, my beautiful broken boy, he's geeky and protective, and all he wants is to show Shay a life that she could only ever dream of.
And then enter Jameson AKA Whiskey, again I didn't want to like him, but as we delved deeper into the story you realise not everything is as it appears on the surface.
They're thrown together in unexpected circumstances, and their twisted journey continues to spiral right until the last page. You'll be biting your nails, gripping the edge of your chair and not know which way is up, oh also make sure you grab a box of tissues to have handy!
This is such a unique story from Emma that it's hard to write a review without giving spoilers, or even give it a trope, it was heartbreaking but beautiful and I can't wait to find out more as we delve deeper into this world of secrets 🖤

Intense Story
This book was a real page turner for me with everything that was going on. Shayla is a MC Princess amongst a MC club that does not honor or respect women at all which means a living h*ll for all young woman. Whiskey has been her childhood friend since they were kids but now, he is a patched member of this notorious club.
Shayla makes a deal with the devil/her father who is the Prez for the club in order to gain her freedom. That’s when Kellan enters her life to help her pull off a heist that is really a deadly mission.
This book was a crazy ride of darkness and love. Yes, there are triggers in this book for some so be warned. For me this was a five-star read that left me wanting for more.

Oh this story 💔
This story broke my heart, literally cracked it straight down the middle and then Emma dug her fingers in a ripped that crack just a little wider.
I've loved Kellan since we first met him in black wedding, something about his darkness and ragged edges called to me and now I know how he got them I love him even more.
I'll admit I went into this with some preformed opinions I was convinced Emma wouldn't change. Well here's me doing a full on 180 and sprinting back because I take it all back. Sometimes there is a good reason.
I have no idea how to review this without giving spoilers 😂😂 because you need to experience it all for yourself. It may not be the love story you are looking for but it's the one you need and the one that needed to be told.
Emma covers some really tough subjects and choices in a beautifully open and heart wrenching way, you really feel for her characters and I cried more than once reading this.
Shaylas story isn't an easy or pretty one. She's been through more crap than anyone deserves and that she's still standing is a testament to her strength. Seeing her build fragile bridges with whiskey is really heartwarming and the part that Kellan plays shows how sometimes what you want is exactly what you need.
I can't wait for more for all of these characters. Never thought I'd say this but especially Shaylas. I need to see her shine!

Dangerously Deceptive, the second book in the Beautifully Brutal series by Emma Luna was everything I wanted it to be and more! If you’re a fan of dark mafia/MC romances, then this is a definite must read for you as Kellan and Shayla are utter perfection!!! And while this is the second book in the series, its actually a prequel to Black Wedding and sets up the story beautifully!

It's not a secret that I love dark books.
I can't explain why, but there's this pull I feel every time one blurb is given to me and o know, right away, that I want that book.
This was the case with this book.
I knew that I needed it and here I am.
Emma Luna is this amazing author and her writing is raw, wild, and super dark. Just the way I like it.
Dangerously Deceptive is her latest release and it's the prequel to A Beautiful Brutal series.
Guys, one piece of advice, you need to read Black Wedding first. It's not mandatory but you'll understand why.
This book explores the lives of Kellan and Shayla.
Shayla was born into the MC world. Her goal was to get away with her childhood sweetheart but he had other ideas and patched with the MC.
She has one decision to make, to stay and endure this life or go and start fresh.
But then...
Kellan is a computer genius, a hacker to be precise, that doesn't trust easily.
He's a guarded man that doesn't have too many friends.
When he's contracted to do a job...
When this book ended, I was at a loss for words.
I knew what would happen but I wasn't prepared for it at all.
Brutal plot, super engaging, super dark, and dangerous.
Reading each chapter, I was shaking all over because the intensity was brutal.
How can someone suffer so much and keep living?
How can you survive years of abuse and don't lose yourself in the process?
It was brutal to read a few scenes, despite the fact that there was always a bright light shining...
But sometimes that's not enough.
This book killed me softly and my heart was so heavy that I couldn't breathe properly.
This book gives us hate, crime, punishment, torture, abuse as well as hope and love.
I seriously need to know more about these characters, since the story isn't over so I'm eagerly waiting for it.
It made me want to reread Black Wedding again.
Great book Emma. Super dark and super engaging at the same time.

Wow. Just wow!!! I can't sit here and right this review and tell you that you will close this book with your heart fully intact. That would be a lie because this little baby is an emotional rollercoaster. If you have read Black Wedding then you have met and most likely really loved Kellan. The man has a darkness about him and some super sharp edges that just attract you like a moth to a flame and you wanna know everything about this man. Well, your about to find out how he got all those sharp edges and his darkness. Emma hasn't had an easy life either and she really just really grows and changes and becomes this woman you would want to be friends with but it's not an easy journey and I can't tell you a darn thing about this journey because every sentence I think is not a spoiler I sit and read three time and think nope I can't say that!! I will warn you that Emma is going to take you down a road that deals with some really rough subjects and she has to make so heart wrenching choices too. I'm not going to lie the tears were flowing and I have some serious allergies going on right now so I was a I can't breathe, make it stop mess. You will not want to put this book down. I hope that you all give it a chance since it's a different kind of story. I am sure that you will love it just as much as I did.

I'm gonna repeat what many other reviewers have said about this book, and that is it's not your typical love story!!! It's even better than your typical love story!!!!
It will mess with your head and pull at your heart strings.
We first meet Kellan in Black Wedding, he's dark and rough around the edges and in this book we get to of course see a lot more of him and I can tell you, you'll fall in love with him. Shayla on the other hand you are prepared not to like her, but as the story unravels and the author shows more to her and peels her layers back, you slowly start to feel for her and her vulnerability and the sheer broken down woman she is, she will have you in tears with some of the things this girl has suffered and been through!!!
This story isn't easy to read but beileve me when I tell you it will stay with you for a long time after you've finished reading it. It's a dark, heartbreaking story but also one of love, hope and romance and definitely brace yourself, your emotions will be all over the place, one minute I was so angry I could have thrown my kindle up the wall, to then crying my eyes up and needing a pack of tissues, to then smiling from ear to ear at how beautiful these two are together.
This story is a prequel to Black Wedding even though you can read this without reading Black Wedding first, but I do recommend reading it to get the full experience of the story in general! You won't be disappointed

I read Black Wedding first so I had certain things locked down in my heart, but I'm not going to lie, while I'm still #TEAMKELLAN ALL THE WAY, I see there's so much more to the story so buckle the hell up! That being said, this story completely decimated my heart as we learned about Shayla's life, and it was brutal as her MC family are a bunch of evil people who should be taken out. I know she has a history with Whiskey, but frankly, I wouldn't have ever forgiven him so I do so hope we get his story going forward so maybe just maybe I get to see him in a different light. I'm not going to get into any more detail since I'm not down with spoilers but please take heed of the trigger warnings because it was bad even for me. I know it's been said before, but I'll say it again, this isn't your typical love story, so it will destroy your heart & emotions so be ready. I CANNOT WAIT for the next book & HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This was like finding a missing puzzle piece after reading Black Wedding! Not that it was unfinished, but we were given more insight into Kellan. I was so excited to get his story regarding Shayla and Hallie. It all makes sense now! It’s such a crazy thing to be so mad at a character until you understand why they do what they do. This book completely changed my feelings about Shayla. I’m still dying to read Trust In Me, to see where and how things end up for Kellan.
I am so in love with this series and these characters! Watching them change and grow, and the relationships that are still to come keeps me on my toes waiting for more from Emma!! This world she has created is dark and dangerous and so damn addicting! I already love Liam, as I do Kellan, and maybe even Jamieson. If you haven’t started this series I would suggest reading this book and then Black Wedding as the timeline fits better that way. One-click you won’t regret it. Oh and check your trigger warnings…

If you liked black wedding… your gonna fall in love with Dangerously Deceptive. Bring a tissue box this story is so raw with emotions. It’s epic. Two people from different world come together to bring us an amazing story. Kellan is a hacker. Single father to an beautiful little girl. Shayla is an Mc princes with a back story that will give u chills. Both come broken but together they fine trust and love. One of a kind story.

This was one of those stories that had my emotions tied up. Shayla my gosh she was strong and what she dealt with with the intent to be set free from the MC life. Kellen is a hacker who she seeks help from. This is intense and not to give too much spoiling it for others. It gave me more insight reading this prequel. Things happened I didn’t expect, forming an opinion and then bam a twist. At any rate it left me full emotions and just whoa. Highly recommend this read. I received this ARC from the author and my honest review is voluntary.

Emma never fails to rip my heart out and somehow make it all better with her books! This one is definitely not an exception. I devoured it and loved every second of heartache and healing. Cannot wait to read the rest of the books that tie in to this and black wedding. Just wonderful!!

As always with any Emma Luna book, I was completely captivated from start to finish.
Shayla has endured so much but she's a survivor who will work her way into your heart, then we have Kellan the geeky hero who's protective and just simply amazing. Their story will definitely be one that sticks with you long after reading it. I went through a range of emotions with this book, and I'm keeping my review very vague to not give anything away.
But believe me, it's definitely worth the read.

I absolutely f***ing loved this story!!! I am totally in love with this series so far!!! It’s a love story, but it’s so gut wrenching and emotional and real. Shayla and Kellan’s story is amazing, I didn’t want it to end, I was so engrossed from start to finish. I can’t wait to see what will happen in the next book!!! Amazing series from Emma Luna!!!

OMG - I’m broken, literally bawling my eyes out. This story is so incredibly well conceived and has all.the.feels.
Shayla approaches Kellen, who’s a renowned hacker, for a very specific job. See Shayla is trying to acquire a memory stick from a well-connected man, in a heist job that will free her from the MC that she’s been born into. Yes, born into, but horrendously abused and maltreated by (this story is dark guys, really dark). Of course Kellen takes the job, but he doesn’t count on a becoming a father in the process.
I knew this story didn’t have a HEA for both protagonists when I started it - but I wasn’t prepared for the brutal rollercoaster this book delivered. I’m heading into Trust in Me, hoping for a HEA for Kellen, but my heart is with Shayla - I need her HEA too.
And amazing, gripping story that straddles MC and Mafia genres. Breathtaking, honestly. You need to read this story!

This is the second book in the series but actually a prequel to Black Wedding. I am totally in love with this series so far! I absolutely LOVED this look into how Kellan become a dad. It’s story that is so gut wrenching and emotionally real. Shayla and Kellan’s story is amazing, I didn’t want it to end. I began reading this book expecting one thing and ending up feeling completely different. I was so engrossed from start to finish. I can’t wait to see what what Emma brings into the next book ..Amazing series so far.

Beautiful and Heart Breaking
I was not prepared for this book to rip my heart out! I’m usually not a huge fan of prequels because I like my story moving forward but this book changed my mind! This is a dark mafia MC romance about Kellan the tech geek from Black Wedding (book 1) and Shayla (who I fully intended to hate). Reading Shaylas story was so heart breaking but beautiful at the same time. I did not expect Whiskey of all people to make me cry but that big biker really snuck up on my emotions. I loved seeing Kellans character development as well, I can’t wait for his next book!

I absolutely loved Black Wedding, the first book in the Brutally Beautiful series, and love that the world has so much potential for expansion. When I read the story I was curious to know Kellan’s backstory and what really happened with the mother of his child, Hallie. Dangerously Deceptive is Kellan’s prequel and answers all of these questions.
I usually consider a prequel to be a short story or a novella, but at 315 pages this book is a whopper. You’ll want to set aside some serious reading time for this one because there’s a lot of history to cover.
From reading Black Wedding (it’s not essential to read it first but some of the back story will make more sense) we know that Hallie’s mother left when she was only hours old. When we first meet Shayla, her mother, the immediate reaction is that she must be the villain of the story. She’s not, and it quickly becomes clear that the true villains are her MC family.
The first half of the story covers how Shayla and Kellan meet; her hiring him to help her complete a task that will win her freedom from the Celtic Reapers MC. The second half of the story focuses on the discovery of her pregnancy through to the days after Hallie’s birth.
I’m in two minds about whether it was better to read the book knowing the eventual outcome or not. If I’m honest, knowing that Shayla was going to screw Kellan over and abandon Hallie made me feel like she was less of a victim. I think I would have had far more compassion for her had I gone into the book blind. I found that I couldn’t really enjoy the tale of Kellan and Shayla falling for each other without the back of my mind screaming at him that he was being both foolish and careless because I already knew what would happen. It made it difficult to connect with the tragedy of Shayla’s character and, in that respect, probably took away from the experience I would have had, had I not already read Black Wedding.
Dangerously Deceptive is a standout book about the difficult choices a woman will make for the benefit of her child, but at the same time also discusses the challenges of loving one man while being tied to another and how to juggle the conflict between what the heart wants and duty towards family. Nothing I say here will adequately prepare you for the story you’re about to read; it’s one of those that has the potential to break you.

Now this is a prequel to Kellan's book, and there isn't an HEA, so just be aware of that going in. But it's definitely a full, heart breaking emotional story that you need to read in the Beautifully Brutal series! Please check the trigger warnings, you have vicious sexual assault, child abandonment and ptsd thrown in the mix too.
OK, wow I'm not really sure where to start with this, Shayla is 19 years old and an Irish MC "Princess" now I use that word loosely, as she is not treated the way I've seen any daughter in any other MC story at all. She has suffered awful abuse from various members of the MC, and her parents are disgraceful humans...
Kellan is the talented hacker who we met in Black Wedding, and we already know some of his story so I knew this book would be heading for disaster. Having said that, I really wanted to know his back story and it gives Kellan a rich character depth, and now I REALLY need to get my hands on his book! Trust In Me is not available until 26th May, so just be aware of that, as I wished I had waited until that was out so I could read them together. But alas, I was too impatient...
All in all, this book took me on quite the journey, and it will literally rip your heart out. But a book that makes me feel as much as this one, has to get 5 stars from me. It's a shame we don't get our HEA. I hope that we get a resolution for all three of the characters in this book by the end of the series 🙏 This author can certainly spin an amazing tale, and I totally recommend jumping in from Black Wedding. When you get to this one, i suggest a quiet space, tissues, scented candles and then a stiff drink afterwards.

Fantastic read
This was another fantastic read, it took me a little bit to get into this one but by about a quarter of the way through I was hooked. This gave such a better understanding to Shay and how Kellan came to be a single dad in Black Wedding. I absolutely love Kellan, Jamieson & Shay. Despite the hurt caused they had their reasons for the benefit of those they loved.

Deception, secrets, betrayal, and survival.
Born the princess of the Celtic Reapers MC was not as great as most would have thought it was. She was not protected, doted on, or respected. Her father was a brutal man that only thought of what he could get out of anything or anyone. Shayla Callahan had a brutal life growing up in the MC and when she was able to, she went to Church and asked for her freedom, but she had to survive the job that would help her get that freedom, or will it make any difference?
He's a computer geek and one the best hackers around. He was raised by Declan Doughty after his parents abandoned him. Being. The best friend of Liam Doughty, Liam went to his parents and asked them to adopt Kellan, and they did. Kellan’s hacking abilities escaped Declan’s knowledge, so he was able to leave the family when Liam did. Now he takes the jobs that he wants. So, when a member of the Celtic Reapers MC reaches out to him for help on a job, he meets with the person that reached out, only that person is not who he was expecting.
This was a tough story to read, but it was a good story. There is betrayal, deception, abuse, cruelty, and survival. Kellan and Shayla have a rough road, and with others in the background pulling strings, they don’t have a chance at all. When Shayla has to return to the compound, she feels that her life is over and decides to find a way to escape her reality until she can escape her circumstances. Shayla’s childhood love is there, but he decided to patch into the MC as a teenager. There are a lot of things going on this book, and it was done very well. I enjoyed the book, and the characters are great, they have so much to overcome in so many ways. I give the story a 5-star review and I am looking forward to Trust in Me.

Absolutely wonderful book. You must read black wedding first! I am loving this author and so glad I stumbled upon her. It’s definitely not your average love story. Better grab the tissues because it’s going to make you have all the feelings.

This is the second book in this incredible series and what a heartwrenching journey this story is! Shayla is the Princess of the MC, but the club is not one which respects women, and she endures so much at their hands that she becomes a survivor. We were introduced to Kellan in Black Wedding, and he is a hacker who is dark and has some rough edges, but he is very protective, and Shayla approaches him for help. No spoilers: - this is a story which needs to be read, and it is not an easy one to read. This is a well written emotional roller coaster, which is dark, raw, gritty, intense, and powerful, with twists, secrets, hope, heartbreak, and love, which leads to a heartwrenching and riveting page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

This is not your typically love story . This book will keep your emotions going all directions. Your heartstrings will hurt, but you'll feel the passion and the desires and the spice through the words of Emma Luna. One will not stop for the one they love in the book and they will sacrifice the world for them. The novel was a long read for me but it wasn't a difficult one to read as it kept me invested to see how the story will end. The author has a way with words to create a world the keeps building as these characters develop and they continue their journey.
