It’s the scars of the past that keep us from seeing what the future could hold.

Liam has scars that remind him daily why he refuses to allow love into his life. What good is it when it only leads to anger and hatred later on? But then he literally bumps into someone who makes him wonder if there is more to life than reliving the pain of what he’s been through.

Some scars are easier to bear than others.

Nia can’t look in the mirror without being reminded of what she’s endured. She carries the past with her like a living darkness wherever she goes. When she meets someone who looks beyond her scar, she dares to hope for a future she never thought possible.

But the past never stays dead for long.

When the ghosts of the past come back to haunt them both, can they make it through together? Or will the fear and uncertainty tear them apart before they can find happiness? The past and present collide and they’ll have to fight for each other if they want to have a future.

This is a standalone romance.

I consider every book by Ari Reavis to be a comfort read. While no two stories are alike, and each one gives me a unique experience, they all read like I'm coming home.

After meeting Liam and then Nia in Imperfect, I didn't think I needed more. I was cool with what I knew. Then I picked up this book and realized how necessary their story was. How else was I going to fall in love with them?

Both characters had traumatic pasts, things done to them that affected how they went about their daily lives, and yet they thrived. Neither of them hid or fell apart. And together... they created something magical. Liam and Nia were such wonderful, kind, compassionate, patient, and understanding characters. I felt their pain, their confusion, their fears, their blossoming love, and all of their joy.

I love when an author can give us something so stunningly beautiful out of the ugliness that created deep emotional and physical scars.

Once again enjoyed reading this author's words. After meeting Liam and Nia in Imperfect, I was looking forward to getting more of their individual stories.

Both Nia and Liam have grown up with difficult pasts and in turn it makes them kindred spirits when they meet each other. Whilst it might take Nia a short while to agree to seeing Liam, this is quite a fast burn story and it's something I've found I like with Ari's writing. It's not your stereotypical dancing around each other with sometimes immature behaviour for a long period, before something brings them together type storyline. Instead, both of these characters are aware of what they want after meeting each other and they go for it like mature adults.

I really liked Liam in particular, I enjoyed him in book 1 and seeing his charming and flirty, yet determined and protective character was really sweet in this. Likewise, I loved that despite Nia's past and lack of confidence in her appearance, she's confident in what she wants and isn't constantly self doubting herself. And it was really heart-warming to see that she had such a good relationship with her mother after everything that happened... I think a lot of people would have gone the other way, blamed their mother and ended up having a bad relationship with them.

One of my favourite things about this story though was the way certain topics were brought up in a natural way. This book address things like domestic abuse, sexual assault and poverty amongst other things but the way it's written felt very authentic and not like many other books where you can tell a character has just been added to the story to address a specific topic, e.g. racism. Similarly, I'm not sure if it was intended, but I liked the way we got to see both a good and bad perspective of the police. With Damir's situation being brought up again in this, we got to see the negative side, but with Nia's story and the Detective from the initial case, we got to see a positive aspect. I felt like this was quite relatable, especially at a time when people are very divided in their opinions of the police force, so I think it was a nice way to show that you can have good and bad eggs.

Overall, a well written story with more of an insta-love but with genuine respect and feeling. It addresses some very relatable topics, in depth and had me thinking about what it would be like to be in some of the characters shoes. Will be interesting to see if we get more from this series, but so far I've enjoyed this book and the first one.

TW: Domestic Abuse, Past Trauma, Sexual Assault. This book goes into some depth on a number of difficult topics. Please pay heed to any trigger warnings the author may have noted themselves.

Scarred is book 2 in the Unwavering Love series. Although it could be read as a stand-alone, I would recommend reading Imperfect (book 1) first, in order to have a more enjoyable reading experience.

This is book two in The Unwavering Love Series and it is Liam and Nia's story and omg it is a must read. This book was a beautiful and emotional story about two people who has endured so much in there lives and have such a traumatic last but still managed to have kindness and compassion and they grew in a way that makes you proud that they have battled on regardless of what was thrown at them. When Liam and Nia meet you can tell that they are so perfect for each other even though the baggage that they carry they absolutely thrive and create something that is so strong and special together and it makes them even stronger. There are twists and turns along the way but that is what makes this book a real page turner that I couldn't put down and it was so addictive. Air Reavis is an amazing author and writer and her stories have so much depth to them and I can't wait to read more of her books in the future. I definitely recommend you read this book and others by her and you will definitely not be disappointed as she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and on the edge of their and and her books are definitely worth reading.

This is a new author for me and one I will be following in the future! I loved these two characters. They are so flawed yet perfect. Beauty is only skin deep and the scars you show on the surface do not mean that the flaw is more than skin deep. Some scars are made to be beautiful no matter how horrific the way they came to be. Liam and Nia were these two characters. Both thought their scars defined them but in reality they made them more than what they were before the scars came to be. I loved this story and it was not about the scars it was about how they both came out on the other side after the scars were given. It just makes you think how much stronger they had to be to survive. Riveting with a story you will not walk away from unscathed. Miss Reavis has brought a story that is heartbreaking as it is beautiful. THIS IS A STORY YOU WANT ON YOUR SHELF!

My first book from this author and I truly enjoyed Liam and Nia story. Two people who wear their scars and the damage it did to them mentally. Together the scars become unimportant as they find, fight and conquer love.

Liam is a man any woman would want but his heart is not his anymore and Nia deserves it. These two have been to he**, saw the devil. I love these two so much. My kind of romance and I will be checking out more from this author. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.

Two people meet share something in common and the healing that comes from each other. Liam’s childhood wasn’t the best living with a father who abused him, he is walking with the scares are proof that he lived, and he see them as a badge he survived, he overcame the worst that was thrown at him. But Liam only every had one goal to keep his sister safe especially from the one who inflicted the pain on him, and he won (she was safe). Nia beautiful, intelligent, living with scares of her own running down her face which makes her feel self-conscious even when alone she feels them. Her scares run deep they affect her action, her style, and overall, how she values herself. Until she meets Liam while he is playing with one of the kids at the center and he calls her beautiful while she is on her way to a job interview at the community center and he actually made her late but left an impression . She is hired on the spot for the counselor job and working together allows them to get to know each other but she has reservations concerning her scares, also if her past relationships are anything to go, they were always over quickly because of her scares but Liam she feels would actually stick around is she strong enough to open up about her past. Oh boy, when he asks her out and they finally get over the idea that they work together will he be as accepting of her situation and will she accept his scares, as well as his background and can he help her move past her scares to wear them with pride showing the world she lived through something horrible?

I loved this story, the was so much about each the characters that were endearing. Liam was abused by his father growing up, even intervening when he went after his younger sister. One night, his dad actually burned him with a flat iron. He did his best to protect his sister until he was eighteen and moved them out. He had to resort to selling drugs to support the two of them and got caught, served nine months in jail. He was sent to do community service and ended up with a permanent job with the kids.

When playing the kids one morning he literally runs into someone, he feels like she will be someone special to him. Nia, a new counselor, is still dealing ghosts from her past. He asks her out on her first day, she turns him down, a week later she is saying yes.

Liam is always there for Nia, seeming aware of what she needs at the pace she sets for their relationship. This book sucked me in from the beginning. I will need to back and read Mariah's story, Imperfect.

Liam and Nia are 2 people deeply scarred both physically and mentally. The tragedy of their lives has made it hard to connect on a serious level with the opposite sex because who would want a scarred and damaged person. Liam can’t understand what it is about Nia that strongly draws him to her and Nia is amazed that someone is interested in her for herself. This is a well written story of finding the beauty in someone with scars that are seen and unseen. I liked how Liam is protective of Nia as when they were in a restaurant waiting area and he used his body to shield her in a private space to allow her to feel comfortable and protected. It’s the little things the couple do with each other and those around them that makes this story feel full bodied in its story telling. Not an easy journey but one well worth taking by this couple

This was a beautiful and emotional book. It is the second installment in the Unwavering Love Series. It's the story of Liam and Nia. This is a book that takes you on an emotional rollercoaster. Both have been through a lot on their own and they endure you and you feel what they are going through.

They are attracted to each other but are both hesitant to
give in to their feelings, but along the way they come to each other.
It was hard to put this book down. you are drawn into it.
The storyline and the characters and characters come up well that the author has done well. I'm going to read part 1 too and I absolutely love this author already and will definitely read the rest of the series, and the other books.
This book is definitely recommended!!!

This is the 1st book I've read written by Ari Reavis; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

This is part of the Unwavering Love Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Nia & Liam; both have been scarred in the past and avoid being around others or taking a chance on letting anyone in their life until they meet.
