The feeling of *happy sigh* that I had while reading the first in this series, carried over tenfold with Double Dog Dare and it made me stupid happy. Tracy writes easy stories and I am here for them all! In this story, easy means the journey was entertaining and full of #shenanigans, but never over the top of slap-stick(ish). Easy means that the journey was emotional but not angst-driven and it was sexy but not sexual. I know when people read the word easy, they assume a story has no depth, but that’s not true. It just means the story had all the elements a good romance journey should have without it being weighed down with any one particular circumstance. I love this about Tracy’s style of writing and it’s what makes me #oneclick every time I see she’s coming out with a new book!

If you’re a fan of entertaining, flirty, poignant, and sweet romance fiction, grab this story today!

Double Dog Dare ~ Milwaukee Growlers #2 by Tracy Solheim.
This book is exceedingly good, it's full of life and chemistry between the two main characters.
Two dogs bring this couple together, however, Luke plays for the Growlers, and each season he has a different"arm candy".That's, just him, no commitment.
This season, his focus is Elizabeth, the weather reporter. Not the woman with the dog, he just met!! That's Summer her cousin, no spoilers now, as that would not do this wonderful story justice.
I loved this story from the beginning, it felt so real and I was there! a truly unique story that I have no hesitation in recommending.
Thank you, Tracy, for this wonderful story and I am looking forward to reading the next in the series 🥰

This book is part of a series but was able to be read as a stand-alone. I hadn’t read the other books in the series and still enjoyed the book. I expected this book to be a light read - I was not expecting some of the tough topics it covered. The author handles the topics very well and you can really feel the pain of the characters. Speaking of characters, I LOVED Luke, Summer and their gangs. I do tend to prefer more spice in my books.

I was given an Advances Reader Copy by NetGalley for an honest review.

After the end of book one I really thought this was going to be about Luke and Annis (Declan's sister), so I was a little thrown off when I first started it, but I quickly got over that. Overall these two were pretty cute (although there was a while there where it was getting a bit too close to cheating trope for me), although what really hooked me was the McGraff storyline - I need his book like yesterday.

(also had to make a note that the French in this was like...ridiculously wrong. Like using homonyms that very much do not mean the same thing. And then after a few chapters the French was just forgotten? Super strange.)

Luke picks one woman per season to date, then says goodbye at the end of the season. It's all very scripted and arranged, with no commitment and no feelings involved. Then Summer happens to him. She's not the woman he's chosen this season, nope, she's that woman's cousin...oops!

Summer's life imploded in full view of everyone. So she's come to this town to be around her grandparents and her cousin. She's trying to lie low, but when her dog is molested by a hot guy's dog, she realizes her life isn't going to be so quiet after all, because Luke is not only gorgeous, but he rescues dogs, he's sweet, and she's falling hard, quickly. But when faced with a revelation that rocks her to her core, will it spell the end to her and Luke?

Awww ... I adored Luke and Summer together. Their story has it all - sweet leads with hot chemistry, adorable, crazy grandparents, and dogs. Did I mention dogs? Luke is the kind of hero I like best - charming and cocky with an inner sweetness, and Summer is so relatable with her insecurities, insecurities that guide her behavior near the end, and even though she was pretty harsh, it was understandable given her past. There's also a whole football team of guys that I can't wait to read as they fall in love - bring on more football love!

Double Dog Dare by Tracy Solheim, book two of her Milwaukee Growlers Football series is a humorous, heart-warming, flirty, and amazing story in. Not only do we meet more of the football players on the Growlers’ team, but we get to know a star receiver for the Growlers, a talented but lacking confidence musician, her entitled cousin, loving grandparents, and a couple of loving dogs. After a humiliating concert performance played out in front of the world on social media, cellist Summer Pearson has sworn off a career in music. Forever. She’s hiding out with her grandparents in Milwaukee, licking her wounds and preparing for a predictable, if not boring, law career; to please her mother. The last person she needs challenging her life choices is a sexy, dog-rescuing jock who loves his grandma as much as he loves a good dare. Especially when that same guy is dating her perfect cousin, a local television reporter; who is also currently her roommate. Luke Kessler is known for his amazing play on the football field and his carefully controlled life off it. The Growlers’ wide receiver has a strict rule of dating one carefully chosen woman each season, then letting her down gently. After all, his game is football, not love. At least until his dopey mutt falls for a French bulldog owned by a hot mess of a woman; sassy, quirky, mischievous, and amazing curves have him fumbling his best-laid plans.

This fun, flirty sports romance written by Ms. Solheim, will have you laughing, crying, sighing, and cheering in the end-zone. There are doggy hi-jinks, senior citizens shenanigans, steamy ax-throwing, locker room bromances, multi-talented football players, steamy private cello performances, and all the feels as Luke and Summer take a bumpy journey, discovering they are worthy of love and a happy ending. Luke’s relationship with his grandmother was sweet and his relationship with his siblings was a nice surprise. Summer’s grandparent’s story was both sweet and poignant, as was her relationship and love for them. I highly recommend Double Dog Dare to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series.

Cute, Cute, Cute!!

In Double Dog Dare, Tracy Solheim gives readers a super cute romance with all kinds of various story lines running through it. As part of the Growlers series, this book can be read as a stand alone, however it seems like it would be way more fun to read in order.

This is Luke and Summer's book. Luke plays on the Growlers team and Summer turns out to be in his world thanks to thier respective grandparents. As the blurb says, Luke has a system for the ladies and the number one rule is, no strings attached. These athletes and their superstitions...eye roll. So while Luke is going along with his plan, Summer shows up and completely turns his theory upside down. While we all know what is going to happen, the ins and outs of these characters is what I was most interested in.

Luke doesn't have the best outlook on love, hence his "seasonal gal" and until Summer, didn't think love was in the cards for him. Man has some serious daddy issues, however is a saint with his grandma, so I was hoping she was going to finally talk some sense to him. Summer on the other hand, is all in for love, but she's lost her confidence about who she really wants to be and weirdly, her cousins boyfriend Luke is the one to help her out.

I wasn't too sure about Summer's character at first. She seemed like she was going to me a woe is me type of gal, however wasn't that in the least. She had a huge heart and was so ready to share it. Luke was fun, the kind of fun a book like this needed. Plus, he was a huge animal lover and I liked that for him. While we have our main characters figuring things out, there is a whole football team to keep track of as well as quite a bit of background family drama. It was a busy story line, which I enjoyed.

The book is well written and Tracy Solheim did a great job at keeping things moving right along. We are presented with quite a few situations that were going to need closure by the end and that is what we got. Again, Double Dog Dare reads as a stand alone, with a nice epilogue to wrap things up.

Luke Kessler is superstitious enough about his pro football season that he won’t deviate from his habit of dating only one girl throughout the season. He's fine knowing his current girl has aspirations and is using him for publicity, but it's her sassy, outspoken cousin who pushes Luke's buttons like no one else and really gets his attention.

Summer Pearson is back home after a humiliating, very public experience that shook her to her foundation. Now all she wants in life is to visit with her grandparents at the retirement center, help them with their sweet dog Milli, and study for the LSATs. But all those plans go out the window when Milli meets Luke's pup Monty, forcing an introduction between their respective humans.

This one has the perfect balance of all the elements I love in a good romance, plus rambunctious pups and uncensored seniors to make things extra lively. It’s humorous and so much fun, but sweet and tender, with a heartbreakingly poignant twist I never saw coming. I’ve been a fan of this author for a long time, and once again she gives us a captivating story and amazing characters to fall in love with. Lighthearted with all the feels and a bit of steam added in, this will be one of your favorite reads this year!

4.5 stars. As an undersized wideout with a football legend for a father, Luke is no stranger to needing to prove himself. He has a system for doing that, and it doesn't involve messy entanglements with prissy, disaster-prone women who aren't impressed with him. For her part, Summer just wants to finish her temporary substitute teaching assignment in peace while reviving her grandmother's beloved music program and grappling with the abrupt, painful end of her performing career. She doesn't need a too-handsome-and-cocky-for-his-own-good man, or his galumphing dog, underfoot. Fate, however, seems determined to put them in each other's paths.

This was an enjoyable romance, but even more enjoyable as a broader story. I liked Luke and Summer's friends and families. I liked the motley crew at Sunset Glen retirement home. I loved the vivid sense of place the author created when including so much Wisconsin flavor. There was a heartfelt, and important, message about what loving someone "'til death we do part" really means.

That said, the romance was very nice. It built realistically and was delightfully spicy. Luke and Summer both had things to work out and growing to do, and it was nice to see how they managed it. I was definitely cheering them on.

Pick this up for a wonderfully layered, fun story with some great chemistry and lots of heart!

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review.

I have been a fan of Tracy Solheim's for a bit now and I have really enjoyed her books and this one is no different. Double Dog Dare, is the second book in her new Milwaukee Growlers series. This story focuses on wide receiver Luke Kessler, who is a bit of a playboy athlete with a relationship playbook. He dates only one girl a season, with the relationship ultimately coming to an end at the season. Summer Pearson is a semi-famous musician, who has come to Milwaukee to regroup and essentially find herself. The quintessential meet-cute happens at a senior citizen retirement community, where both character's respective grandparents reside. Luke and Summer are complete opposites: He is serious and she is whimsical and yet they simply, adorably mesh. I really enjoyed some of the new characters introduced in the story, including Antonio. I can't wait to read his story. Likewise, it was nice to get to check back in with Andi and Declan from Just For Kicks (The first book in the Growlers series). I think I liked Just For Kicks a bit more than this book, but I still really enjoyed reading Double Dog Dare. It was a cute read that I couldn't put down and finished in an afternoon. I can't wait to see what comes next in the series!

“Double Dog Dare” is a fun and flirty football romance that had me laughing one moment and sighing the next. Luke and Summer’s story pulls at your heartstrings while they both find their way in their careers and family life.

Luke is the star receiver for the Growlers and his dating life is carefully chosen through the season. But when out on a walk with his rescue pit bull, Monty, he meets Summer and is instantly taken with her. And Monty is taken with Millie, Summer’s grandmother’s dog. But Summer is only here for a short time as she studies for the LSATs and tries to forget her humiliating moment.

I loved Luke and Summer. They were both different and alike so that made them the perfect match. Luke struggled with his family and Summer with her musical talent. Their struggles made them relatable to me which is always a plus for when I read a book. Luke was so supportive of Summer and helped her regain her confidence in playing the cello again, that made my heart swoon so much. We get lots from the other teammates of the Growlers and that makes me excited for future books. Monty was a personal favorite for me because he’s a rescue pit. We get so much of this story and will be a reread for me.

What a wonderful story. I really enjoyed Luke and Summer and the of course the grandparents who are such a huge part of this story as well and of course we can’t forget Milli and Monty. Luke’s teammates and my favorite coach Lenny Washington (Wash) and I’ll mention Lizzie but only since she ultimately ended up with what she wanted and left Luke and Summer to possibly become more than friends who irritate each other (the chemistry was already there). I liked all the pre-game and season rituals and superstitions, and I really liked how there was more to each of these characters than what you saw on the surface. I have to give Summer a break with her melt down of sorts, I have a feeling I would have done the same thing being in her situation and when it all comes out in the end, it just breaks your heart a little for everyone involved. Great story and the ending wasn’t who I thought it would be for, but it was perfect for them. My favorite line from his story is, ‘It’s the joie de vivre. Joy. You’ve got to take it where you can get it, every chance you can. You don’t want to waste it.’

Luke is a successful football player who has a plan when it comes to dating during the season and it has worked for him in the past so why mess with it. He chooses a woman he can have a casual uncomplicated relationship with and then they can go their separate so why can’t he stop thinking about the intriguing woman he met through his dog who is wrong for him on so many levels.

Summer is going through a difficult time in her life which is forcing her to re-evaluate her future. She has come to town to spend some time with her grandparents as she tries to get on with her life. The last thing she needs is to be distracted by a sexy man and his adorable dog but her heart doesn’t seeming to be listening.

Luke and Summer draw you in and there is a great cast of secondary characters, of the two legged and four-legged variety, that make this enchanting story even better.

I think book one is slightly better than this book, but there is still so much to love about Luke & Summers story.
The way they first meet had me right in the story straight away. There was a part there that made me a little uncomfortable but as the story progresses it ends up making so much sense and I honestly thought it couldn’t have been written any other way. It made me appreciate Luke as not only a character but how much he was willing to change parts of his life after he found the right person.
All the characters in this story add so much to the book, some who I hope end up with their own stories in the future, and I really loved Luke’s relationship with his grandmother most of all. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

I have to confess that (horror), I am not a football fan. But after reading the reviews of book 1 , I decided to give this one a try. Glad I did.
The story centers around Luke Kessler and Summer Pearson.
Summer is a concert cellist, but after a disastrous concert was blasted on social media, all she wants is to forget her career and hide away far from everything and everyone. What better place than in Milwaukee, where her grandparents live.
Meanwhile, Luke Kessler, a Growlers wide receiver, is known to date a different woman a per season and has no interest in getting serious with anyone.
What he never expected was Summer. Though they seem like opposites, their is more to them than what’s on the surface.
At times funny, this is a story about family, challenges in life and love, as well as second chances in life and love.
An unexpected delightful story.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This book has it all - witty dialog, great well-developed main and supporting characters, hysterical dogs, sparks, heart and drama. I could not put this book down and read it in one sitting while laughing and crying along the way. I loved both Luke and Summer and how they interacted with each other, protected and helped their family and friends, all while dealing with their own personal issues - meanwhile the heat between them was off the charts. The "seniors" were a wonderful, funny, meddlesome addition in this book as were Luke's Growlers teammates and their families and it was fun to see many of the characters again. I can't wait for more in this series!

I absolutely loved this book and getting to know Luke and Summer's backstories and how they got together. What I love about Tracy's books is how she incorporates characters from a previous book into her new one. All the characters in this new book were a lot of fun-and adding two dogs into the story line gave the book a humorous touch. I am a huge fan of Tracy and have read all her books and as always she does not disappoint! She leaves you wanting the story to go on and on! I highly recommend "Double Dog Dare" as well as all her other books.

Double Dog Dare was a fun read. I loved Luke and Summer's story, and Monty and Milli were adorable! Their interactions were so entertaining, and Luke's thoughts during his conversations with Summer kept me laughing.

In addition to the romance, I also enjoyed reading about the special friendships that was formed between Summer, Luke, and the rookie receiver, Antonio. I really liked Antonio and hope he gets his own story. I can't wait for the next book in this series!

This is a romantic comedy that has you laughing one minute and being sad the next. It does an awesome job of having fun with the characters bantering. Summer loves her grandparents and the writing shows the difficulty of alzhemier's in a loving way. It was touching. Luke was perfect for her as he dared her to come back to doing what she loved. Would love to see this as a movie.

Fantastic fun inside these pages! So much to love in this story, with more fabulous characters than you can ask for. Luke and Summer are both wonderful people with complicated back stories. A chance encounter at the senior living center where they each have a grand parent sets everything in motion. Along come great characters in the form of their grand parents in residence, then Luke's teammates, Luke's family, and not to be outdone, the dogs. (The dogs Monty and Milli are adorable.) Lot's of twists kept me turning the pages, always rooting for this fabulous couple. With a beautiful and satisfying ending, I will definitely come back for more from Tracy Solheim!

Loved it. I laughed. I cried. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great couple and other wonderful young and older characters. The two dogs added their own flare to the tale, too. I may have skipped over the intimate moments, but the banter among the characters was a delight. Thanks to the author for providing an advance reader copy. My review is voluntary. I look forward to reading more of the tales of the Milwaukee Growlers.

This was such a fun read. Luke is an athlete and Summer a curvaceous musician. Total opposite and yet chemistry off the charts. The connection was their grandparents assisted living home...oh and the dogs, yep they met first and hilarity followed.
He was dating her cousin first, a fling using each other for their own reasons. But can't deny the heart as Luke and Summer kept crossing paths.
Emotional scenes and plenty of humour will have you loving their story. I highly recommend it.

Loved this addition to the Milwaukee Growlers series. It was sweet, sexy, funny & slightly sad& very well told. I enjoyed the banter between Luke & Summer as they fought the attraction they had to each other. I enjoyed the white knight attitude that Luke had as he tried to make everyone happy. The love story of Summer’s grandparents was sweet & sad as her grandmother battled Alzheimer’s. The antics of the dogs Monty & Milli were hilarious. I loved how supportive & protective Luke was of Summer & her music & most of all I loved how Luke’s half siblings took the first step to get to know him. Well done!

This sports romance is the perfect read to get you ready for the upcoming football season. Luke plays for the Growlers team in Milwaukee and has new arm candy each season but after meeting Summer this may all change. Summer is only in Milwaukee temporarily helping her grandparents, who recently moved into a nursing home. Both their grandparents are at the same nursing home but it's really their dogs are the true match makers.

This book is so much more than romance. Loved how both Luke and Summer were so good to their grandparents. Loved the shenanigans between the nursing home residents. Enjoyed the friendships between the players. Luke and Summer were perfect with their banter and chemistry that they shared. The secondary characters, the dogs Milli and Monty were a hoot.

I highly recommend this book, the perfect fun flirty read!

4 1/2 stars!

Luke is a guy who has learned not to trust being loved by anyone but his Gram. Summer has hit a low in life and is trying to figure out who she is. Luke and Summer meet and it's hilarious the way fate keeps shoving them into each other. Solheim gave a solid story that brought in the grandparents and relations with parents while touching on life with someone who has dementia. Way to make me cry BTW. Luke's love of animals was impressive and makes me want to adopt another dog. (Inn is full) Throw in hot football players and we have a great book in the series. Van Horn needs to be next :)

I was totally drawn to the cover of this book. After reading a number of romances it was nice to see a guy on the cover who actually seemed to be having fun. The books was enjoyable enough though not anything particularly unique.the characters fell kind of flat in the long run though I did enjoy the entanglement of the grandparents and dogs into the story.

As usual Ms. Solheim’s characters are fun and have many layers and are fun to unwrap and get to know. I loved Summer’s quirkiness and her friendship with Antonio. The secondary characters from grandparents to senior citizens to additional football players were a fun addition as well. Luke’s relationship with is grandmother was sweet and his relationship with his siblings was a nice surprise. Summer’s grandparents story was both sweet and poignant. The story from love to a happy ending for Summer and Luke was a fun ride. Can’t wait to read future books about some of the characters. Another keeper to be read again!
