A completely entertaining book filled with the extreme and disgusting. Anyone familiar with the writing of the authors and the genre should know what to expect and most certainly enjoy the gore infested trip. Oftentimes humorous, most times gross, other times humanities deceptions and betrayals, but most definitely a creation of gore infested stories for fans of the genre.

Fuckin’ Maggots by Natasha Sinclair
A metal band tale of jealousy and revenge against a new corporate marketing label. It’s a bloodbath of epic proportions. The crowd roars as the music blares, the chainsaw revs, and bodily fluids fill the air.

Cut Around The Ass by Daniel J. Volpe
A father and son hunting trip turns into a deer’s revenge and a creatures feast.

Little Elvis by Armand Rosamilia
The only thing that makes Little Elvis stand at attention is his love affair and obsession with tools. Pain and desire becomes a gorefest of delight for these two with a tool fetish.

Bloodsoaked Savior by Wrath James White
A heartbreaking and beautiful tale of covid revenge written in poetic form.

Influencers by Donnie Goodman
A peanut butter shit fest has those internet fans hitting those likes. Especially when a man has them fulfilling his obsession with Apotemnophilia.

Beneath the Moor by Jonathon Butcher
A cheater will not cheat death when navigating the consuming beast of the misty moors.

The Terrible Two by Stephen Kozeniewski
Dildoey McDildoface: A Poop Dildo’s Odyssey
Everybody Poops, Especially Godzilla
The 2 Winners of the Gross Out Contest/World Horror/KillerCon
Well deserved!!

.38 Special by Amy Grech
A splattery tale of Russian Roulette ends in 2 big…WHOOPS!

Winner Digs the Grave by Jay Wilburn
A fight to the death and the winner gets the dinner of muscle, sinew, marrow and bone. A little bit gamey, who’s next?

You Can’t Kill the Dead by Jack Bantry and Robert Essig
Zombies and fishing, what could go wrong? A toxic waster earns his comeuppance.

The Cart Don’t Go There by Patrick C. Harrison III
Do not mess with an obsessed parking lot security, must keep it clean and tidy.
Do not mess with a lady that leaves her cart where she pleases, especially if she carries a hatchet.

Infested by Lucas Milliron
Big, huge, monstrous wasp! Nasty, nasty, nasty!

The Negative One by Wesley Southard
A new perspective of a blood sucker. She doles out her weapons and lets the fighting ensue into a huge, bloody imminent death.

Bonus:
Grudge Pipes by K. Trap Jones
A grandfather passing on his legacy of his basement creations.
“Grudges; some people discard them, some dwell within them. For me, I hold onto them dearly….”

I couldn’t wait to dive head first into this splattery goodness! My cravings were satiated. The stand out for me was Bloodsoaked Savior by Wrath James White - it truly was exceptional.
This collection is a must read for extreme horror fans.

A power tool obsession becomes more than just a desire for the latest drill, hammer and saw…it has turned into a fetish with agonizing industrial results. A six-legged insect gorges upon its captured prey while adhering to its sickly metamorphosis. The needed hunger for negative energy transforms itself into a feeding ground for a selfish predator. A fishing trip develops into a chaotic endeavor for survival as the undead unexpectedly arrive in droves…Fish On!

Edited by K Trap Jones, GoreFest is a gathering of today’s top extreme authors. Included in this anthology of catered carnage is Jay Wilburn’s cannibalistic gladiators, Daniel Volpe’s ritualistic deer hunting excursion, Stephen Kozeniewski’s mouth watering dookie sorbet and Wrath James White’s own version of poetic justice. This blood soaked book reads like an all-star lineup to a KillerCon Gross Out Contest. The only thing missing is a Bernie and bragging rights.

I thoroughly enjoyed discovering the few authors I have never had the pleasure of reading. Yours truly can’t wait to read more of author Jonathan Butcher who claims the all consuming Moors as Home Sweet Home and Donnie Goodman who blends an internet web show with peanut butter like no other writer can. Additionally we must not leave out PC3’s literary advice of leaving the damn grocery cart where it belongs…in the parking lot corral!

Never has their been more engaging open liners and dysfunctional desires than a Saturday night at Club Apotemnophilia. These demented story lines are guaranteed to cling to your psyche like an over filled adult diaper. Resulting in a solid five star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Horror Bookworm Recommendation, this collection of the macabre is suggested for those who like their fiction sticky with gore.

The third anthology from The Evil Cookie Publishing (following the alcohol-infused extreme horror of ‘Brewtality’ and the Splatterpunk anthology ‘Bludgeon Tools’) skips the linking theme for this entry and delivers an eclectic mix of shorts with the emphasis on the gore. Collecting fifteen stories from some of hardcore horrors biggest names, readers can expect tales of;

• A family hunting expedition where the hunters find the tables turned and a trip into the wilderness becomes a gruelling fight for survival
• Two social media influencers whose latest live stream guest may well be their most popular (and messy) yet
• A man with a fetish so extreme, that finding his ideal partner may be the death of him
• Revenge, Romance and Russian Roulette, as a violent accident leads to blood-soaked retribution
• A lot monitor at a local mall who takes his job a little too seriously, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake
• A Grandfather and his grandson who really know how to hold a grudge

Editor K. Trap Jones never disappoints with his anthologies and Gorefest is no exception. The name of the game here is blood-drenched fun, each author trying to deliver the most grotesque, crazy and appalling stories they can amongst a sea of the best writers the genre has to offer. There isn’t a single story here that doesn’t work and the fact that there is no theme to this one gives the writers free rein to let their imaginations run wild, and it shows in the results.

The closest the book gets to a ‘serious’ story is Wrath James Whites poem, ‘Bloodsoaked Savior’, which tackles a grieving man's anguish over the loss of a loved one to Covid-19. If that sounds melancholy and downbeat, it is. Sort of. It is also a Wrath James White piece, so it takes its socially relevant premise and wraps it in his trademark extreme horror, delivering one of the more grounded and gruesome stories in the anthology.

Any story could well be anybody’s personal pick for the favourite of the collection. The beauty of Jone’s anthologies is that they are so relentlessly fun and over the top that every short is enjoyable and entertaining, making them the most cohesive and consistent horror anthologies out there. I would single out Patrick C. Harrison III’s ‘Don’t Go There’, a darkly funny story of a parking lot security guard gleefully doling out extreme punishments for customers minor infractions, and Jay Wilburn’s ‘Winner Digs the Grave’, which is basically an extended fight scene with Mad Max vibes, and one of the most unique stories of the bunch. My favourite, however, was the closing story by the editor himself. ‘Grudge Pipes’ is a weirdly heart-warming story of a grandfather bonding with his grandson over a shared hobby. What that hobby turns out to be isn’t something I’ll spoil here, but it is memorable, disgusting and hilarious. A special shout-out must also go to Donnie Goodman, whose story ‘Influencers’ genuinely made me nauseous.

Extreme horror fans not familiar with The Evil Cookie Publishing’s line of anthologies are missing out. Three books in and they never fail to deliver pure guilty entertainment on every page. If you’ve read K. Trap Jone’s anthologies before, you’re in safe hands with ‘Gorefest’, which is every bit as good as you’d expect it to be. If this is your first time, and you have a strong stomach, then you’re in for a treat.

I don’t think you understand how much I loved Between the Spider’s Eyes. It was my number one collection of 2021… until this one. Ab-so-fucking-lutely amazing. Every story was gruesome and I could not stop reading!

Since there are so many, I will be doing the 10 word (I think one is 11) word blurb for each. Hold on because this is a bumpy ride.

Fuckin’ Maggots by Natasha Sinclair : A concert. A groupie. Disgruntled ex-employee. Chainsaws. 4/5

Cut Around the Ass by Daniel Volpe : Hunting with the boys. Don’t go shit at night. 5/5

Little Elvis by Author Armand Rosamilia : Power tools. Hard ones. Red headed woman. What could go wrong? 5/5

Blood Soaked Savior by Wrath James White : Politically savage. Heartbreaking. “A cardiovascular cesarean.” Stunning and raw. 10/5 (**My favorite of the collection**)

Influencers by Donnie Goodman : Peanut Butter. Apotemnophilia. A couple of oopsies. A SWAT team. 5/5

Beneath the Moor - Jonathan Butcher : Don’t fuck your boss’s wife. Avoid all misty days. 5/5

The Terrible Two - Stephen Kozeniewski : 1) Poop dildo. Pus boil. Vagina worms. 2) Godzilla bathroom time. 5/5

.38 Special by Amy Grech: Russian roulette. Oopsie. Revenge. Oopsie.

Winner Digs the Grave Jay Wilburn : A fight to the death. Nipples. A dinner bell… kinda. 5/5

You Can’t Kill the Dead by Jack Bantry and Robert Essig : Gone fishing. Zombies-ish. Red pickup truck. 4/5

The Cart Don’t Go There by Patrick C. Harrison III : When hall monitors grow up they become OCD parking lot security. 5/5

Infested by Lucas Milliron : I fucking hate wasps and so does Jim.

The Negative One by Wesley Southard : Colin Robinson (What We Do in the Shadows reference) starts a bum fight death match club. 5/5

Not a bad collection of stories. A lot were borderline creature feature which I am not a fan of. Like the title suggests, however, there is a ton of gory goodness!

Absolutely fantastic read. I also loved how there was an additional story after the 'about the author' section. I wasn’t expecting that. Nice to get another wee story after you think the book is over. My favourite stories in the order they appeared in the book were by Natasha Sinclair, Wrath James White, Wesley Southard and K. Trap Jones. Highly recommended.

*A musician puts on a truly memorable last show, all the while, taking revenge on his band mates, whom he feels have wronged him.
*On a family hunting trip, a young boy makes his first kill - except now there is something coming for revenge.
*During his first day on a new job, a man discovers his boss has an even bigger power tool fetish than he does.
*Spurned by the loss of his wife to COVID, a man witnesses an anti-masker giving essential workers a hard time and decides to make him pay for his ignorance.
*An influencer couple catch the attention of a popular man interested in a collaboration - but what he proposes is beyond the scope of imagination.
*A man who murders his boss quickly comes to regret it, as it seems he is somehow taunting him from under the ground.
*Pt. 1 features a dildo made of frozen human excrement and Pt. 2 showcases a town whose main purpose is to serve as Godzilla's personal "dumping" ground.
*A husband takes revenge on his wife's lover.
*Two men participate in a brutal fight to the death.
*A man out jogging by the lake realizes the fishermen there have been exposed to toxic waste in the water, turning them into zombies.
*A parking lot guard deals out harsh justice for litterbugs, double-parkers, improper use of handicapped spots - and worst of all - to those who don't return their shopping carts. (This one was my favorite; it made me laugh and honestly, I can relate to that guard way too much.)
*A giant insect of scientific creation escapes its cargo box during a car crash.
*A woman feeds on the violence around her - the more severe the better.
*A man finally shares with his grandson the hobby that's kept him so preoccupied in the basement all these years.

A great lineup of authors here; I liked the all the stories, which is not usually the case for me when it comes to short story collections. Some were better than others, of course, but fun all the same. The only thing I felt was a negative, was that a few of the stories were too short and at the end I was left wanting more. All in all, a solid collection.

Very good.. I loved the stories.. the only reason why I gave it a 4 Star (should be 4 /2 stars but Goodreads don't do half stars lol) is that the editor missed a lot of misspellings and errors..

"cut around the ass" by Daniel J. Volpe, "blood soaked savior" by Wrath James White, "influencers" by Donnie Goodman, "beneath the moor" by Jonathan Butcher, Stephen Kozeniewski's two winning stories from the World Horror Gross-out contests, "the cart don't go there" by Patrick C. Harrison III, "infested" by Lucas Milliron, and "grudge pipes" by K.Trap Jones were my favorite stories...

Can K Trap Jones and Evil Cookie do it again? Do what, you ask? Release a damn good anthology of course. Gorefest is exactly that. The stories here are outrageous, funny, violent, disgusting.

Wrath James white plays with formatting here and delivers a brutal tale of Covid revenge. I really dug it, and I think it’s a good example of the difference between splatterpunk and extreme horror.
Donnie Goodman, a new favorite of mine has an excellent story in here that shows what a writer can do with technology in a story if they take the time to make sure their characters use it correctly. It’s equal let’s violent and disgusting, I almost puked in my mouth, so it fits in nicely here, alongside Stephen Kozeniewski’s two gross out contest winning contributions.

I also really enjoyed Armand Rosamilias story.

These were just a couple of my favorites. Another solid addition to the lineup. Evil cookie anthologies are day one buys

As with any anthology, I liked / was grossed out by some stories more than others, but the majority here are great if you're into short splatterpunk. There is a lot of raw talent among these authors, though sometimes grammar errors distract from it. Stick around after the credits for a bonus story!

If you liked the Notebook...

Alrighty. It's official- I'm a total reprobate. This collection is everything advertised and I quite enjoyed it.
I'm also giving it an extra star to make up for the ones ( insert pejorative descriptor here) who leave one star reviews for books that are too violent, explicit or whatnot.

Absolute dogshit: I'm not against gore when done artfully (like Clive Barker, Alastair Rennie, and Shaun Hutson have done), but nothing resembling that is on display here. Just amateurish stories that seem to have no point other than "make it splatterpunk". The one somewhat bright spot here is "The Cart Don't Go There" by Patrick Harrison III, which shows more wit and spirit than the rest of the anthology put together. Apart from that, it's a hard pass from me.

This one was mostly good and, since there are more than a dozen stories, good value for money if you are looking for an extreme anthology.

I’m not going into too much detail, but I want to highlight two stories.

THE NEGATIVE ONE by Wesley Southard was probably the best one in the collection. The idea was sort-of fresh for a somewhat overdone topic and the execution was superb. Not going to tell you any more, just read it.

THE TERRIBLE TWO by Stephen Kozeniewski…
Look, for those who don’t know about the Splatterpunk Awards and the Gross-Out Contest, the concept is this:
A few writers are selected to write a couple of pages of the absolutely grossest pieces of literature they can come up with, then they read (and act out, should they choose to – I’ve heard…what happens at the contest, stays at the contest) it aloud and a winner is chosen for that year.
Now, I have never been and can only tell you a little about some of the things I’ve heard, and have only been able to read a handful of those stories, but there was one thing that tickled me pink:
As a Jeff Strand fan and having read two of his stories, I couldn’t fathom how anyone could have written anything better. Well, Stephen Kozeniewski is a two time winner, and these are his two winning stories.
Personally, they are worth the price of this anthology on their own. They are grossly hilarious, but it was the second story that floored me. I laughed so damn hard at the mental images, my wife stopped what she was doing to come and find out what was wrong with me.
Just imagine – cum angels…
I think these stories deserved the win and I have to congratulate this author for giving me belly laughs during a difficult time.

Read it, extreme fans, there will be something in there you will like.
