Bonnie & Clyde are at it again!

When the death of a local baker threatens to shred the fabric of their lovely town, this dynamic sleuthing duo bolts into action. The results will leave you in stitches.

It’s summertime in beautiful Bliss, Georgia, and while second chance dress shop owner, Bonnie Balfour, would prefer to spend her time redesigning gowns for the upcoming Founder’s Day parade, her grandma, Gigi, is too hot under the collar to concentrate. It seems Gigi’s former friend is using her recipe to sell cobbler at the local festivities, and she’s claiming Gigi’s treat as her own!

Things go from uncomfortable to downright ugly when Gigi confronts her friend publicly about the unseamly pattern of behavior, only to later find the woman dead! With Gigi’s prints on the murder weapon, and dozens of material witnesses to their earlier scrap, Gigi cuts straight to the top of Sheriff Wright’s suspect list.

Now, Bonnie and her kitty companion, Clyde, must don their sleuthing hats once more.

To mend Gigi’s reputation and deliver justice for the victim, Bonnie must lace together a string of clues about what really happened that night. Will she wind up on the killer’s cutting board in the process?

Bliss, Georgia is home to second-chance shop, Bless Her Heart, owned by Bonnie Balfour. She can re-design new or gently used clothing into eye-popping chic treasures. The #1 male in her life is Clyde, a black cat she rescued who’s street smart and sneaky! The #1 irritating male in her life is Sheriff Mason Wright who’s doing his best to intimidate Bonnie into keeping her nose out of his crime investigations!

The second installment of the new Bonnie & Clyde cozy series will keep you chuckling despite the fact there’s a murderer on the loose. Grandma Gigi gets blamed for knocking off the victim over a family recipe dispute. However, when Bonnie and Gigi get to poking around they discover there was a lot more going on than just baking cobbler. The author serves up a passel of suspects to select from, and Bonnie’s soon getting close to figuring out whodunnit. One thing’s for sure—Clyde isn’t gonna let anybody hurt his mama!

This story is chock-full of interesting characters—good or bad. I enjoyed seeing the regular cast growing and becoming more familiar after the first book. I also like all the other ‘reveals’ besides the murder mystery, so y’all be sure to buy the book to find out for yourself!

I honestly reviewed an unedited digital arc provided by Bookfunnel and the author. All opinions are my own. Thank you.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

In this second installment of this fun new series from Julie Anne Lindsey the residents of Bliss, Georgia are getting ready for the Founder’s Day celebration. Bonnie Balfour, owner of the Bless Your Heart is recycling and redesigning ball gowns with the members of the Founder’s Day Court in mind. Each member of the court will be able to select a gown free of charge. She thinks it is a wonderful marketing campaign as each woman is selected for making a significant contribution to the community and is well known for their efforts. Bonnie’s own mom is on the court and she would be delighted to be crowned Lady Luck for the year.

But there may be a fly in the ointment that will mar the big event. Bonnie’s Grandma Gigi is about to cause a huge ruckus because she believes one of her friends is using her Peach Cobbler recipe and selling it in the Enchanted Gardens park. As soon as Gigi tastes the cobbler she knows she is correct and confronts her friend publically making such a scene she is kicked out of the park by the police.

Later that evening the woman is found dead by Gigi herself and her prints are all over the murder weapon. Bonnie and Clyde again have to team up to save the day by cobbling together every clue they can to prove Gigi’s innocence. New Sheriff, Mason HANS (Short for Handsome New Sheriff) Wright does his best to deter her but Bonnie can’t back down even when putting her own life in danger.

It is so easy to get invested in these characters’ lives. They are fresh, fun, and full of Southern charm. I continue to be in awe of Bonnie’s sewing capabilities and love the way she upcycled the ball gowns for the ladies. I absolutely love Clyde, he is one sneaky little devil. The relationship evolving between Bonnie and Mason is delightful. Their banter is fun and true to life. He really does want to keep her safe, but someone from his past could really twist things up. Gigi cracked me up several times but that encounter with Rowena in chapter two had the cobbler flying and me laughing out loud as I could picture every moment. All the characters are so well written. The core characters are developing nicely and those new in this book are captivating as well even if one of them is a murderer.

I really enjoyed the way the author plotted out this story. The pace was constant, something was always happening. She tossed in some really nice twists, red herrings, and comedic events to keep everyone on their toes.

The one thing I have learned now after reading the first two books of this series and the spinoff No Farm, No Fowl, is that I am unable to put the book down once I start reading it. I started this one a little later in the evening and was surprised at the hour when I flipped the last page. I hadn’t even noticed the rest of my family had gone to bed. I really escaped into this book.

Julie Anne Lindsey never disappoints. Seven Deadly Sequins was a great light-hearted read. I love that we are getting to know all the characters better including their backstories. I thoroughly enjoyed this trip to Bliss. I hope to visit again soon and see what mischief Bonnie and Clyde get tangled up in next.

SEVEN DEADLY SEQUINS
Julie Anne Lindsey

I don't want to like this book, but I do. I am usually a serious reader, but I guess that tastes change? Because I have to admit that I love this series. The characters are well written and oh so cute and everyone is nice even as they commit or are murdered. I mean yall, it's the south.

Bonnie and her grandmother, Gigi are off to the investigation of the murder of Gigi's used-to-be friend that stole her receipt and was making a fortune on it. Then, she turns up dead and Gigi is the number one suspect. Bonnie gets busy meddling in Mason's case. This is the Founder's Day weekend so the town is popping with events and things to do in the sweltering Georgia heat.

I was surprised when Mason, or Hanns (handsome new sheriff) as he is known around town, anyway when his girlfriend shows up on a motorcycle. The good news is that Bonnie's divorce is going to be finalized, the bad news is that she will be single.

The plot in this series is really good, the storyline is fun and light-hearted.

5 stars

Happy Reading!

Book 2 Bonnie has opened Bless Her Heart a second hand shop. She turned ugly things to pretty. There were gowns, furniture ,vases ,and record in her shop. Her employee Lexi worked for her. Bonnie lived with her grandma Gigi and her cat Clyde. Gigi was Bonnie best friend and mentor. Her granny wanted to open a shop with her baked goods. The Founders Day Parade was about to be there. And Bonnie wanted to let women select gowns of their choice free of charge for The Founders Day. There were going to be a woman named Lady Luck. It was a equivalent to a prom Queen. It was to be in the Gardens later. When Bonnie and her grandma went there just to eat vendors food . Gigi told Bonnie that her best friend Rowena a long time friend ( Gigi left for 3 years to be isolated from her husband passing.) But Grandma Gigi knew that she stole a recipe from her when she was gone. So when they got near Regina plot in Gardens. Gigi knew it was her recipe she had. But she put it in a ice cream cone ( a cobbler recipe) She screamed at Regina that she was a fraud and a stealer. The new detective Mason told her and Bonnie to leave and don't come back until tomorrow. So Bonnie and Gigi did not listen and when Gigi was going to tell Rowena off again. She got a shock she was dead. Gigi was now the prime suspect. But Bonnie was going to prove her grandma innocence. These books are great. Clyde the cat helps solve crimes with them

Seven Deadly Sequins” book 2 in the Bonnie & Clyde Mysteries by Julie Anne Lindsey. I love this new series!

Bonnie & Clyde are at it again! When the death of a local baker threatens to shred the fabric of their lovely town, this dynamic sleuthing duo bolts into action. The results will leave you in stitches.

I can’t say enough about Julie’s new cozy mystery series other than I LOVE it! I was left smiling once again at the end and I didn’t want it to end. I’m anxiously awaiting book 3 in the series as fun things are going to happen I can just feel it.

I found the characters enjoyable, likeable and most importantly I wanted to be apart of the community. Plus the setting of Bliss, Georgia sounds so charming (reminds me of the show Hart of Dixie)

The mystery is well-written and plotted. There are several red herrings and twists to keep the reader engaged.

I look forward to reading all the books in the series and highly recommend to all my cozy mystery loving friends.

I voluntarily agreed to read a digital copy of this book supplied by the Author. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced.

If you are looking for a cozy that you don't want to put down, this is the one!! I have totally fallen in love with Bliss & all the characters. Of course, no forgetting Clyde. He is always around to take some small item or to save the day! I enjoyed seeing Bonnie grow in this book and finally be able to close a chapter of her past. I cannot wait to see what comes next for Bonnie & Clyde. You could read this one as a stand alone, but I would definitely recommend reading the previous stories first.

Y'all! 5 wholehearted stars for the second installment in the Bonnie and Clyde mystery series. Loved the character development with protagonist Bonnie Balfour's "Gigi," as well as her relationship with Sheriff Mason Wright. I found myself chuckle at the banter between Bonnie and Mason as he adjusts to his new role as sheriff while trying to figure out the somewhat strange and superstitious traditions of this tiny southern town. This was a fast paced whodunit, with a charming setting and fantastic characters and descriptions! I want to visit Bliss myself to be part of the Founder's Day celebration (minus the murder.) This southern gal can't wait to see what's in store next for Bonnie, Clyde, and the crew!

She is keeping busy with her kitty companion of Clyde and giving clothing a second chance. She soon finds herself tangled up in another murder when her Grandma is accused of killing a rival. An enjoyable second cozy in the Bonnie and Clyde mysteries series. A quick read that I finished in one day. (I couldn’t put it down and ignored everything after dinner to finish it.) I love the cast of characters in the small town of Bliss, Georgia. The HANS—Handsome New Sheriff Mason Wright is such a good guy under his grumpy exterior. I liked learning more about his backstory with the Cleveland police and FBI. He’s dealing with a lot and so is Bonnie with her soon to be ex-husband. It’s nice that they are starting off as friends with the potential to be more. This time Bonnie solves the mystery and clears her Grandma Gigi with clues that slowly fall into place. Once again she’s confronted by the killer and her cat Clyde is there to help. I look forward to reading book three.

I loved being back in Bliss, Georgia with Bonnie Balfour and her cat, Clyde! I was laughing at her Grandma Gigi's antics during the investigation. The romantic tension with Mason is fantastic, and this was another fun cozy mystery with a great setting, unique, interesting characters, and fun plot twists!

The second book in the Bonnie & Clyde series is great and refreshing. Sometimes when it comes to the second book in the series I just don't like them as much. The mystery was deeper than a traditional cozy which I totally loved. I wish I could say more what I loved but I hate spoilers so I won't do that. Definitely recommend this series by Julie Anne Lindsey!

I love Bonnie & Clyde! As the series began Bonnie Balfour moved back to her hometown in Bliss, Georgia. It’s simply a joy to know she’s making her second-chance shop a success with one new marketing idea after another. Clyde didn’t put his best paw forward in the first impression he gave to Bonnie and although he hasn’t changed his thieving habits their love is mutual at home and at the store. They’re definitely a dynamic duo that knows how to rescue one another!

Bonnie’s parents, Bud and Blossom own a flower farm aptly named Bud and Blossom’s Flower Farm. They are lovely but the absolute personality of the family is Gigi and she is simply grand for a grandmother, mother, and mother-in-law. Gigi’s nickname for her daughter and husband is hilarious since she considers them to be busybodies and is fitting for their business of choice as well.

This cozy series is filled with southern charm and sweet goodness from the name of the hometown to Bonnie’s shop name of "Bless Her Heart" to baking nights with her grandmother to friendships old and new. Julie Anne Lindsey infuses humor into the storyline and it’s always natural to the dialogue and captivating. There’s also a budding romance on the horizon and possibly two.

I can’t wait to read the next steps for Bonnie and Clyde.

p.s. If you haven’t visited the author’s website, please don’t miss clicking over to discover the series prequel of "When Bonnie Met Clyde" available as a free ebook or audiobook.

Seven Deadly Sequins by Julie Anne Lindsey is the second book in her Bonnie and Clyde cozy mystery series and kept me turning the pages until I reached the end.

Bliss, Georgia is the small town with huge community spirit and Bonnie and her family are big supporters of the town. Clyde is adorable for a sneaky black cat and wins every scene. Bonnie's grandmother, Gigi, is a spitfire and so loving of her friends and family. I would love to be included in her circle of friends. Ms. Lindsey's writing is so descriptive that I felt that I was right there with Bonnie throughout the story. It was great that Ms. Lindsey also revealed some of Mason's history which made me like him even more. A cleverly written story with several twists, only a few suspects, humor (the banter between Bonnie and Mason) and a reveal that was dramatic and laughable (you'll see what I mean when you read it). Once I picked up the book I couldn't put it down.

I voluntarily read a digital Advance Reader Copy of this book. All of the above opinions are my own.

Another good entry in this series. The town and its people are charming and Bonnie and Clyde also add to the charm as well as quirks. The chemistry between Mason and Bonnie is really good. Looking forward to catch up on the rest of the books in this series.

So many times the first book in a series is excellent and book two gets the dreaded sophomore slump, but not Seven Deadly Sequins by Julie Anne Lindsey. Book two may be even better since the main characters are becoming even more developed and we get to meet some new characters.

One of the many things that I really enjoy about this series is that Lindsey didn’t make Bonnie instantly rich by inheriting something, but instead she is actually struggling to make ends meet. But I think book three is going to get really interesting because of some of the events in this one….

I also enjoy how Lindsey deals with Sheriff Wright trying to persuade Bonnie not to investigate. Sure, he constantly tells her not to, but you can actually tell that he cares about her and isn’t saying it because he doesn’t think she can do it. So many books just have the love interest telling the main character not to investigate, and while it gets boring fast, it also feels like that they don't believe the main character has the smarts to do so.

In Seven Deadly Sequins we get a feel for even more of the town and get to enjoy Lindsey’s detailed descriptions. And the mystery is even more nuanced in this one with lots of red herrings and an interesting ending.

The Bonnie and Clyde Mysteries is one cozy mystery series I am very excited to keep reading.

“Seven Deadly Sequins” is the second novel in Julie Anne Lindsey’s Bonnie and Clyde Mysteries series. In this installment, murder once again strikes the small town of Bliss, GA, but now it’s Bonnie’s grandmama, Gigi, who is Detective Wright’s number one suspect. Not willing to sit by while Gigi is accused of murder, Bonnie must once again team up with her cat Clyde to clear her grandmama’s name before it’s too late!

Hot damn, I LOVE THIS SERIES!! There’s a reason we call Julie Anne Lindsey the Queen of Cozy Mysteries, she’s amazing! I loved the growing relationship between Bonnie and Mason; their banter is The Best! Another favorite was watching Mason try to figure out the town/people/traditions of Bliss 🤣 what a hoot! The calendar, need I say more?! I can’t wait to see where Julie takes this world in “Beating the Wrap” (out 11/15/21)! I’m pre-ordering my copy today!!

If you yourself love a cozy mystery series with a dash of supernatural and a side of romance, GO BUY THIS BOOK!! While you’re at it, make sure to pick up the first book in the series “Burden of Poof” (out now).

Please be advised that I was lucky enough to receive an advance readers copy for an honest review and in all honesty, I LOVED IT!!

Murder is afoot again in the small town of Bliss, Georgia, with the second installment of the Bonnie & Clyde Mysteries. This time, our amateur sleuth’s grandmother, Gigi, is the suspect! Not wanting her grandmother to be wrongfully accused and allowing the real killer to get away, Bonnie, along with her best sidekick Clyde, are more motivated than ever to figure out who dun it, but will Bonnie’s meddling put her in danger? Or worse, drive a wedge between her and a certain handsome, new sheriff?

It was so fun to be back in Bliss with Bonnie and everybody! Bonnie and Mason’s banter and chemistry continue to entertain and give me butterflies while the murder mystery definitely keeps you guessing and on your toes!

I’m so happy that the killer wasn’t the only one who got the justice they deserved! By the end, Bonnie is well on her way to being truly free.

This is such a fun series and I can't wait to dive into book 3 in February. I really appreciate Lindsey's ability to help the read feel what the characters are feeling. I feel like this book went a little fast when it cam to the whodunit and I wanted there to be a bit more suspense in it. Overall this was a SOLID read and I can't wait to dive into the next book.

Seven Deadly Sequins is the second installment in the Bonnie & Clyde Mystery series by author Julie Anne Lindsey. If you haven't read anything by this author, I would encourage you to pick up the first book in any of her series (she also writes under the names Bree Baker and Jaqueline Frost). Ms. Lindsey's stories are a delight to read and this book continues in that tradition. I have enjoyed the first two books and getting to know Bonnie, Gigi, Cami, Mason Wright, and all of the other residents of Bliss Georgia. I love the relationship Bonnie has with not only her parents but her grandmother Gigi as well. Bonnie is loyal and fiercely protective of her family, especially given that she has come home after a failed 19-year marriage. The town of Bliss is charming and Ms. Lindsey writes it in such a manner that the reader can picture the quintessential small southern town as they read. I love the relationship that Bonnie is developing with Mason Wright, now the town sheriff. They both have some emotional baggage so they are doing a cautious dance around each other. The result is some entertainingly witty dialogue and a bit of tension on where they want this "thing" between them to go.

This time around, Bonnie becomes involved in another case when Gigi becomes the prime suspect in the murder of her longtime friend Rowena. Gigi was not shy about accusing Rowena of stealing a family recipe and selling it at her bakery booth. As a result, when Rowena is found dead by Gigi, who is holding the murder weapon, she becomes the prime suspect. Bonnie doesn't take that laying down and once again inserts herself into the investigation putting herself in the crosshairs of a killer. The mystery was not overly complex but I was a bit surprised by the killer's identity and how it ties to the first book. I also love the role Clyde played in helping Mason catch the killer before any harm could befall Bonnie and Gigi.

This is a charming series and I can already tell I am going to be sad to see it end after 8 books. I'm happy that the author has indicated that there will be spin-off's and I think this book is setting up one of those spin-off mysteries with Bonnie's best friend Cami and the new man in town.

I voluntarily read a digital advanced reader copy provided to me by the author. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own and are in no way influenced by the manner in which I received the book.

Another wonderful adventure with Bonnie and Clyde! I was so looking forward to this one but am always apprehensive with book #2 in any series - the dreaded sophomore slump. This one, however, did not disappoint! I loved this one as much as the first, even a little more so because in this one we get to meet Bonnie's grandmother, Gigi. The mystery was a little heavier than I'm used to in cozies but it's good (there's only so many "jealousy" motives I can deal with). The feeling of community is so inviting in these books that I never want to leave. And I absolutely love the idea of the lunchboxes.

Bonnie and Clyde are back!

Bonnie is working hard at her second-hand shop, Bless Her Heart, and she is now living with Gigi who just returned from the hippie community after three years. While Bonnie loves her Gigi, she really wants her own space and starts looking for a house. It doesn't go well, especially considering her no-good ex-husband, Grant, has hidden away their money. Oh, and possibly her real estate agent likes her? Is there a love triangle in the future?

Speaking of possible love triangles, when we last saw Mason, he was riding off into the night with a mysterious woman on the back of a motorcycle - well without giving anything away, that mystery is solved in this story.

Founder's Day is getting ready to start around town and Bonnie is thrilled when the Enchanted Gardens, where she worked as a teenager, is reopened until Gigi accuses an old friend of stealing her recipe and then selling it without permission. Unlucky (remember - luck is big in Bliss) for Gigi, the woman ends up dead and, of course, Mason suspects Gigi.

Obviously Gigi is innocent and Bonnie sets out to prove it. One big problem stands in her way - the hunky Mason Wright, but with Clyde's help, Bonnie may just save the day!

What a great series, I’m glad I stumbled upon it. A soon to be divorcee’s husband has hidden his retirement accounts and seems to have had severe business losses, so much so he can’t divide assets etc. So she has moved to her hometown of Bliss Tx and shares a tiny house with her grandmother. Her grandmother is upset because an old friend has nicked her famous peach cobbler recipe and is selling at the local Garden amusement site. They get into a big fight and when granny goes back to apologize she finds her friend dead but accidentally picks up the murder weapon in case she must protect herself. That is when the cops walk in. Our heroine has become friends with the sheriff and feels she must solve the case to save her grandmother. Interesting and likable characters, a good plot. I shall go find the rest of the series.

Book 2 of this fun series set in the small town of Bliss and poor Gigi - I love the second book as much as the first and have already bought books 3 and 4-
The slow romance between our Sheriff Wright and our incredibly smart Bonnie, the jump in with both feet to save her granny.
But what I loved is the building of the secondary characters like Cami and Dale.
And I can't wait until Bonnie's ex shows up on page and our handsome sheriff is standing firmly behind Bonnie when she finally has the opportunity to give him what for!

What an enjoyable read. Join Bonnie as she and Gigi investigate the death of Gigi’s friend. The story has a little bit of everything: a murder around which all revolves, some humorous moments, wonderful friendship and family, and the continuation of a budding romance. We are exposed to Mason’s past. The mystery pulls you in and keeps you guessing. The setting of the town seems like an enjoyable place. The camaraderie and the love for each other is outstanding. Join Bonnie and Clyde, her cat, as they investigates the murder. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Ok wow. This series just gets better and better. How is this is the perfect cozy mystery with all the best elements; but also emotional and serious and hits home in so many ways. The way that Bonnie has been mistreated by her husband, forced to start over with very little, and still strives to help everyone she meets is incredible. She is just truly a good person with the best personality and all the sass. Oh there is sass (and meeting Gigi I am not surprised). I love her banter with Detective Mason and even when he's making me mad with his grumpiness, I love the sunshine/grump dynamic they have and I'm convinced Bonnie will break his hard shell. I'm so happy that we learn more about Bonnie and Mason's backgrounds and some of the secrets that are being kept. They have very emotional pasts and the author does an amazing job of tugging right at your heartstrings. The mystery wasn't overly complex with a manageable group of suspects. I wasn't overly shocked by the reveal, but appreciated how there is more than one story involved here. My only complain, is can we have more Clyde?! I can't wait for more!
