Cecily Nottingham has made a huge mistake. The marriage bed was still warm when the earl she thought she loved crawled out of it and announced that he loved someone else. Loves. Someone else. All he saw in Cecily was her dowry. But he’s in for the shock of his life, because in order to keep the money, he has to keep her. With nothing to lose, Cecily sets out to seduce her husband’s cousin, Stephen Nottingham, in an attempt to goad the earl into divorcing her. Little does she realize that Stephen would turn out to be everything her husband was not: Honorable, loyal, trustworthy…Handsome as sin. Stephen only returned to England for one reason. Save his cousin’s estate from financial ruin. Instead, he finds himself face to face with his cousins beautiful and scorned wife, he isn’t sure what to do first, strangle his cousin, or kiss his wife. His honor is about to be questioned, right along with his self-control. Amid snakes, duels and a good catfight, Cecily realizes the game she’s playing has high stakes indeed. There are only a few ways for a marriage to end in Regency England and none of them come without a high price. Is she willing to pay it? Is Stephen? A ‘Happily Ever After’ hangs in the balance, because, yes, love can conquer all, but sometimes it needs a little bit of help.
Married to the same man for over 25 years, I am a mother to three children and two Miniature Wiener dogs.
After owning a business and experiencing considerable success, my husband and I got caught in the financial crisis and lost everything in 2008; our business, our home, even our car.
At this point, I put my B.A. in Poly Sci to use and took work as a waitress and bartender (Insert irony). Unwilling to give up on a professional life, I simultaneously went back to college and obtained a degree in Energy Management.
And then the energy market dropped off.
And then my dog died.
I can only be grateful for this series of unfortunate events, for, with nothing to lose and completely demoralized, I sat down and began to write the romance novels which had until then, existed only my imagination. After publishing over twenty novels now, with one having been nominated for RWA’s Distinguished ™RITA Award in 2019, I am happy to tell you that I have finally found my place in life.
Thank you so much for being a part of my journey!

DNF 55%. Cecily was callously told on her wedding night, after the consummation, that her charming and handsome husband is in love (read lust) with someone else and only married her for her large dowry. She naturally sulked and plotted revenge. Enter Stephen, her husband's equally handsome estranged cousin, who had returned back after years in America building up his fortune. He left England after said cousin, Flavion, seduced his betrothed, the latter's betrayal passed off by his beloved uncle as a naughty boy's antics. Guilt forced him to return after hearing of Flavion's imminent financial woes, but upon his arrival, he learnt Flavion has sorted this out temporarily in his sneaky underhanded way. So, we have established indisputably that Flavian is despicable low-life who deserves castration. BUT THREE WRONGS DO NOT MAKE A RIGHT!!!
Cecily decided to enlist Stephen's help to obtain a divorce by pretending to cuckold him and our hero readily agreed. This is when morality nosedives because within a few hours of meeting, they enthusiastically jumped into bed and sucked face and other parts. The next night, less than 48 hours after meeting, they were at it again, this time completing the deed, seeds and all, with great vigour. This came after they were both shocked to learn that Flavion had planted his child in someone else's marriage. Yep, it was so wrong that they had to mimic it and moreover, do so under Flavion's own roof. That was the nail in the coffin for me. It didn't matter that Flavion had no interest in Cecily. Marital fidelity is not negotiable regardless how bad, mad or decrepit the spouse is!!
The prose isn't bad. The promised humour is more slapstick and less subtle than I prefer. Cecily lacks dignity and poise. Stephen is just too contrary with his love/hate attitude towards Flavion. The timeframe is way too short for this kind of intimacy and trust to occur between them.

I listened to the audiobook and am so so on the reader. Ok....the first half of the story was really good but oh so unbelievable. It moved lighting fast and I just went with it. BUT come on the timeline is crazy short. The VERY honorable cousin who thinks of Fav as a brother has sex with his wife 2 days after meeting her. Crazy fun friends added to the plot. Fav is such a sociopathic horndog dirtbag as his back story is revealed. Then there are the attempts on Ceclily life are just kind of glossed over in the second half. I have to add the audiobook reader never grew on me. First half 4* but the second half just went downhill fast. I rate it 2.5* and round up. Again, one of those reviews that is as disjointed feeling as this book.
I half mixed feelings about this book. It was just okay. It had such potential. The h was fantastic but the H was way too honorable. His commitment to his jackass cousin was absurd and ruined some of the story.
I think the author needed to tighten the story. It lost it's focus.
So fun! You will love the surprising twists in this sweet romance. There are laugh out loud scenes, tender romantic moments, and just enough bedroom antics to keep things real! I like how the characters learn about themselves and become better people for their experiences. Explores the notion of betrayal, commitment, revenge and loyalty. A great debut novel by Annabelle Anders
Now, I typically stick with clean reads, but I saw a cute promo for this. So, I read some reviews and still couldn't tell if this was going to be clean or not.......so I read the first few chapters and there wasn't any overt sexual references or innuendo, so I decided to give it a try.
And, guess what? This book isn't a clean read, but it's an amazing story. For a first-time author this book is phenomenal. There is sex, yes, but it isn't the focus. There's also wonderfully written dialogue and some really great humor. The secondary character's are great and even the villian is oddly likable (or at least, you understand and feel bad for him being the way he is). The character's sacrifice for each other and forgive.
So even though I could have done without the sex scenes, I feel like the author did exactly what she wanted to do: she wrote a book full of realism, love, humor, and entertainment with great talent and I can't give less than all five stars for that!

Should I read in order? This is the first in Anders’ Devilish Debutantes series.
Basic plot: Cecily realizes her husband just married her for her dowry so she hatches a plan to have an affair to get him to divorce her.
Give this a try if you want: - Regency (my assumption) - London setting - taboo/forbidden vibes – the heroine is married to the hero’s cousin - affair - heroine in danger – multiple attempts on heroine’s life - a bit of a bonkers soap opera feel! - medium steam – 3 scenes
Ages: - Hero is around 29. I didn’t catch heroine but would guess early 20s?
First line: If it’s the last thing I do, I will free myself of that scoundrel.
My thoughts: This is my first Annabelle Anders and I had a roller coaster of feelings about this book. Definitely going to try more from her!
So this one gets a bit crazy. It actually has a lot of things I generally don’t love in romance (the heroine being in a relationship with someone else the whole book, lots of attempted murders of the heroine and .
But, there was something about it I was rather fascinated by. I was very into the first half of the book – I liked that the mains spent a lot of time together and I did love the taboo vibes of having an affair with your husband’s cousin haha. The ending got pretty crazy. This isn’t one I would reread, but it was definitely memorable.
Content warnings: These should be taken as a minimum of what to expect. It’s very possible I have missed some.

Full break down on what my ratings above mean here: Overall: How I felt about it everything considered! Readability: How ‘readable’ was the book? Did I fly through it? Did I have to tell myself to pick it back up repeatedly? Were any passages confusing? (I will probably score like (1) is literally unreadable due to formatting/typing errors, etc (2) There were lots of errors that made it difficult to read OR It was extremely confusing and I had to reread passages to make sense of it OR I disliked it so much I had to bribe myself to keep reading (3) I didn’t really want to keep reading and would have preferred to abandon the read and start something else OR some minor continuity issues/confusion (4) I liked it fine, maybe a minor error or 2. I was happy to pick it up when I had time. (5) I never wanted to put this down. I thought about it when I wasn’t reading it. I hid in the bathroom from my kids to read. I threw inappropriate food at my children for dinner so I could read instead.) Feels: Totally subjective to each person but did the book give me any tingles? Any butterflies? Did it rip my heart out (in a good way?) Emotional depth: How well do I feel I know the characters at the end? How much did I feel their emotions throughout the story? Sexual tension: Again, subjective, but how strong was the wanting and longing to me between the characters? A book might have strong sexual tension without a single touch. Romance: Was there romance? Did romantic things happen? This can be actions/words/thoughts of the characters and again is subjective. Sensuality: This is how the intimate scenes are written. Kisses and sexual scenes – how sensual were they? Were they on the mechanical side? Was there emotional pull tied in? Were the details explicit or flowery? These are subjective but generally (1) too short to get a good judgement (2) not all what I'm looking for - very vague or flowery prose (3) either not explicit enough or not enough emotional pull (too mechanical/physically descriptive without the emotions) (4) what I love in a scene (5) absolute perfection - perfect balance of emotional longing and explicit descriptions Sex Scene Length: How long the bedroom scenes are (generally (1) is 1-3 sentences (2) is a few paragraphs to a page-ish (3) is about average, a few pages (4) more well developed scenes, quite a few pages with descriptions (4) the majority of the book takes place in the bedroom. This is always hard to tell for me on audio! Steam Scale: Generally, each flame is a scene. If scenes are super close together I sometimes combine them. If a scene is super short or so vague I don’t know what’s happening, I don’t count it. There’s some levels of grey but generally the number of flames is how many sex scenes there are (I max out at 5 so I’ll put a + after if there’s more than that)
Wow, just Wow. There is so much to be said about this story. This was a new author to me and I had no idea what to expect. From the very beginning I was hooked and could not stop turning the pages fast enough! Cecile Nottingham, the new Countess of Kensington has married a Scoundrel. After being courted and pursued during her debut and falling in love with Flavion, the Earl of Kensington, she finds out it was all a farce. Flavion needed her money to stay solvent and maintain his mistress!! Stephen, Flavion's cousin has come to help him get out of debt but finds him married and everything a mess. All Cecily wants is to have her marriage dissolved any way possible and requests Stephen's help.
Ms Anders writing really makes you feel a part of the story with descriptions of the characters and emotions that abound! Mystery, murder and mayhem keep the reader entertained and holding their breathe as to the outcome! You will love this book and be sorry when it ends. Looking forward to reading more by this author and seeing some of the secondary characters (hopefully!) having their own stories! Well done Annabelle Anders!
There is nothing more frightening then a woman scorned, and this really showcases just how far women will go for the revenge they so desperately want.
And that is exactly what Cecily wants. Revenge…
I have come across real bad egg before, but Flavian Nottingham is one real nasty piece of work. He is egotistical, self righteous pain in the backside, who unfortunately can charm the bird out of the trees with his golden looks and manners. But in actual fact he is anything but, he is exactly how Cecily describes him; as a toad! The way he treats Cecily is really terrible and this guy deserves everything that’s coming to him!
Cecily wasn’t born an aristocrat her father is a Merchant/Business man, who has built up his Empire from scratch h she grew up learning the ropes and ways of business, she knows her ways around the books and banking and even legal documents. There is nothing that she cannot have she has everything a girl would want, the only thing her father can’t seem to purchase for her is respect and social standing, he cannot buy her someone to love her.
Then came along handsome, charming Flavian Nottingham. This god took an interest her, he charming her and made her fall in love with him and she thought he loved her too. So contracts were signed, the marriage was sealed and then he told her the awful truth …that he only married her for her !money and he didn’t love or feel anything for her.
Obviously Cecily was devastated but the hurt from her husband wasn’t finished there, he goes out of his way again and again to ostracize her from society and humiliate by flaunting his mistress about adorned in Jewels he had bought with Cecily’s dowry.
This really is the last straw for her so she decided that she needs to rid of him, now this is where her fabulous three friends come in and basically tell her, she needs to bump him off and live as a lavish widow, but she isn’t keen on that idea so with help of her toadish husband’s cousin Stephen she comes up with a plan that will force him to divorce her.
There is only two issues, one that someone is trying their damdest to murder her and secondly she falls head over heals for the cousin.
Cecily is in her own right an intelligent, strong-minded women but I felt as soon as she married Flavian and learnt the horrible truth she did loose s lot of her spark. She returned into some kind of simpering mouse who cries and whines – a lot! But once she has got over that and her friends start coming up with hilarious ways to get rid of him she really comes into her own.
I like the fact that she is from a normal background, it is so refreshing to have a working class woman as the lead but this is what Anders has done perfectly, the social divide between then is as clear as a bell, the way she gets ostracized just for her back ground really is quote appalling and true for the time.
Stephen is an enigma he keeps his emotions and the thoughts under wraps, he is a powerful man in his own right as handsome as sin but what I like about him is he respects her and takes as she is. Being business man and one of her father’s competitors he has a good solid intelligent head on those impossibly wide shoulders.
The two of them as much as they try to keep those feeling under wraps and under control the atmosphere sizzles with a built up tension. I especially like when they are plotting both their revenge on Flavian and it is highly entertaining watching as Cecily plot revenge on him and when Stephen asks her what she wants the fist it me she says is her husband’s head on a silver platter is very funny.
I adore this it is by far the funniest Historical Romance I have read, the plot is enjoyable very fun and I can see some really good things coming from this author. Her writing flows she has created a story that has you laughing out loud, gripped to edge of your seat and shouting at the book wanting to know what comes next.
This is highly recommended, really very good and a fabulous debut.
Historical/regency romance isn’t usually a genre I’d even think of selecting, I don’t really understand why other than the fact that I prefer my history, factual. I usually find HR to be a bore, not that engaging and I usually DNF a book. You’ll notice I used the word usually, because that’s usually true, however I find myself absolutely LOVING this book. It really surprised me and I found myself genuinely engaged in it. I wasn’t expecting to have this reaction at all. Hell Hath No Fury is funny, witty, interesting, sexy, sweet and spicy all rolled into one. HHNF is literally about a woman scorned. Cecily married Flavion, an Earl, and higher than her station, and whilst Cecily was duped into thinking she’d married for love, it soon becomes evident that once they’re wed, he married her for her fathers dowry. As soon as they’ve consummated their marriage, Flavion basically ignores her, spends her money and parades his mistress around for ALL to see. Feeling absolutely broken, she plots revenge. She wants a divorce and will stop at nothing to get it, including pretending to have an affair with Flavion‘s cousin, Stephen. Needless to say, things don’t go as planned, least of all when feelings become involved. I truly wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did, and it really shocked me, you know it’s a 5 star and really great read when that happens. The characters are great, witty and sexy. The story is the same. The author has really opened up my eyes to this genre. It’s something that I won’t be so quick to dismiss in the future.
“It says ‘historical, romantic comedy’.” Hmmmm, an interesting mix, I wondered what that meant. What it means is delicious, guilty pleasure fun! Think Cinderella devising ways to off her husband because he isn’t quite the Prince Charming he was set out to be. Mix in another hottie in the wings, some best friends that any girl would kill for, and just the right amount of spice and that pretty much sums up Hell Hath No Fury by Annabelle Anders.
A courtly romp during the height of British high society, Cecily learns that no title or amount of money can make her accepted by the ton, and that those of that society certainly aren’t guaranteed the good manners that the word is supposed to represent. Moderate on the heat level, I thought the “steamy” scenes did not override the plot. The story moves along at a great pace, and while there is some fine tuning that I would suggest (Ms. Anders repeats details and descriptives at times), these did not detract from my enjoyment whatsoever. Hell Hath No Fury is listed as book one in the Devilish Debutantes series, so I am excited to see what is in store for Rhoda, Emily, and Sophia in future instalments.
This is the debut novel for Ms. Anders. I was honored to be given an ARC of this book. This is my voluntary review.
The story opens in Regency England during a ball for the Earl of Kensington and his young bride, Cecily Nottingham, the Countess of Kensington. Only the Earl has no interest in his young bride. He is too busy with his mistress. Along comes his older and wiser cousin, Stephen to save his younger and flamboyant cousin from ruin.
Upon meeting Stephen, Cecily and her female friends devise a plan to seduce him so she can get her royal husband to divorce her.
In lies, a story with great character development, funny story lines and even a mystery as it unfolds. Will this end in a happily ever after for Cecily? Will she get the divorce she seeks? What will happen to her reputation?
Read this novel; you laugh, cry, and even become angry at the antics of the Earl and his accomplices., as well as the schemes Cecily devises to end her marriage. I will definitely be reading more from this author.
Totally loved this book , Anna has written an awesome first novel . Full of humour, Desire , revenge . It real doesn’t get any better Now for the next , write quick Ann
2.5 stars. This debut novel was pretty good. Cecily, the heroine, was lovely and likable, and Stephen, the hero, was handsome, rich, stalwart, and sweet. The obstacles to the romance were real and serious; there was no Big Misunderstanding (just a tiny one at the end). I have to say, however, that I didn't feel the heat. I read about it, though -- page after page of minute detail about their sexual encounters. I could have done with less.
The plot was truly original, albeit occasionally silly. For example, in less than two days after meeting, Stephen was shagging the wife of a man that he supposedly loved like a brother. Under that man's roof. And we had been told that Stephen was above all honorable.
There were the usual rookie-author blips -- some odd word choices and awkward grammar, for example. Also, I urge the author to look up the meaning of "erstwhile."
I give the author full props for devising a truly unforeseeable comeuppance for Flavian, the awful husband. I would bet money that you have never read a historical romance with a similar outcome.
I really loved this book , Anna definitely has a wonderful gift for writing x it was romantic, evil , sensual, devious, witty and altogether down right brilliant x more please an soon x
Since my first Annabelle Anders read, I’ve needed more. I became an instant fan and have since been meaning to go back and read the author’s other work. With Hell Hath No Fury, I finally started the Devilish Debutantes series.
Had I not already been a fan of Annabelle Anders, this would have ensured I was. From the very first line – what a great opening line it was – I was sucked into this one. It pulled me right in, ensuring I devoured the book in a single sitting.
I fell in love with the characters and the story, I adored the way things developed, and I was left desperate for the next book in the series. The side characters were a lot of fun and I have high hopes for their stories.
Absolutely charming. Cecily’s new husband is a toad. He married her for her dowry, consummated the marriage and thusly informed her he loved another. As usual, Society shuns her, while he gets to keep on carrying on but Cecily has a plan: seduce his cousin, so her husband will divorce her. Naturally, there’s more to it than that but Cecily is a great character: witty, well drawn and able to think for herself. I️ look forward to reading more of this authors works.
This is my first Annabelle Anders book and I really enjoyed it. I have the next few books locked and loaded on my Kindle ready to go.
Miss Cecily Findlay is a merchant's daughter who is devastated that her brand new husband Flavion, the Earl of Nottingham, has revealed that he doesn't love her and only courted and married her for her money. After learning of this and enduring a very unsatisfactory wedding night, she bolts her door and commiserates with her three wonderful friends to figure out what she could do to get out of the marriage. While Flavion publicly flaunts his mistress in front of Cecily and all of society, visions of poisons, murder, and other ways of bumping him off sound good at first, Cecily doesn't really want to kill him. All she wants is her freedom.
Stephen Nottingham pays a visit soon after hearing of his cousin's marriage. Finding Flavion's estate in shambles, and money being spent like it would last forever, Stephen steps in to help manage the spending and quickly realizes Flavion has more problems than he anticipated. The biggest problem being the beautiful, intelligent countess kicked to the back corner, forced to watch Flavion spend her money and escort his mistress around. Stephen genuinely feels sorry for Cecily and understands that she just wants her life back. Coaxing Flavion and Cecily to rekindle something that Flavion never felt won't get anyone anywhere. So Cecily decides the only way out of the marriage is to have an affair and force Flavion to divorce her. It will ruin Cecily socially but she doesn't care since they barely accept her anyways. She just wants out. Is Stephen willing to help Cecily accomplish her goals of freedom? Will he be able to convince Flavion to set her free? And will he uncover whoever is threatening Cecily's life?
This story had a lot going on along with some pretty fun twists and turns. Daphne Cunnington is Flavion's mistress but she feels very threatened by Cecily even though both ladies know that Flavion doesn't love Cecily. Could she be behind the attempts on Cecily's life? Could Flavion? Stephen has his hands full trying to figure out who is out to get Cecily, but also trying to rein in Flavion's spending and promiscuous ways. Plus Stephen's growing feelings for his cousin's wife wasn't something he had expected. But when Flavion is challenged to two duels by two unhappy fathers and survives them both (but just barely), Cecily is willing to forgive and at least try to be happy in their new circumstances. But Stephen unearths some news that changes everything! Could it be possible for Stephen and Cecily to have a life together after all?
I really did enjoy this book and the author's prose flows easy and clear. I'm not a fan of adultery in any book I read, however the author handled this story with care. And while I won't tell you the final plot twist, it really is rather amazing with everyone getting what they deserved and I totally didn't see it coming. But even before the plot twist, Flavion was very much a man-whore. And if he was going to be completely unfaithful and indescreet about it, why shouldn't Cecily have just a little happiness herself?
I'm looking forward to book 2 which focuses on one of Cecily's friends and her love match. I give this book 3.5 stars rounded to 4. Steam is 3. On to book 2!

"Hell Hath No Fury" was my first Historical romance read and I really enjoyed it. I thought this book was really good. I liked the story line and how everything played out and all came together. I will read this book again along with other Historical Romances.
Cecily is mad. The man she thought she loved, the man she has to spend the rest of her life with used her. He is in love with another women and give her the time of day. she cant believe she ever allowed herself to feel for this man and all she wants is to be free of him. Short of killing him there is no way out and she is not a murderer. Then she meets Stephan he is everything her husband is not and if she can get him to agree to help her out of her marriage she would be grateful. What she doesn't expect is to fall for Stephan that wasn't the plan but she can't help but to fall for him. Now she has to navigate a way out of her marriage but still be with Stephan if only it were easy.
Stephan came back to London after being away for years to help his beloved cousin. He did not expect to find the mess his cousin got himself into. His cousin has married a girl for money and now she hates him. He wants to help his cousin and he knows his cousin's beautiful wife's father will kill him. He decides to help Cecily to protect his cousin. He doesn't expect to enjoy his time with Cecily. He knows its wrong to to covet his cousins wife but she is wonderful. He is falling for her but his consciences, his pride, and his honor will not allow him to to love her for long. He has to protect his cousin but also Cecily and her heart.
I Loved reading this. I Enjoyed reading about Cecily and Stephan I was rooting for them the whole time!! This book was an adventure! The intrigue and the little mystery they had going on to spice things up was wonderful to read. Plus all the Twist at the end some were a real surprise and when a book can surprise me it's awesome. I Loved the concepts and they way this story happened. one of my favorite not essential to the plot thing were the dresses! Oh my gosh I loved the dresses. They were so beautiful. I wish we could still dress like that lol. If you love Historical Romance I suggest picking this one up!
Hell Hath No Fury by Annabelle Anders is the First Book in the "Devilish Debutantes" series. Cecily Nottingham's father is a self made millionaire in the shipping world and had his mind set on Cecily marring a Titled man who cared for her. Cecily and her father both thought they found that in Flavion Nottingham the Earl of Kensington. Cecily did get the title the Countess of Kensington but on her wedding night she quickly was informed by her husband that he only married her for her dowry. Cecily who thought Flavion had cared for her was awaken to the sad life of a Titled Ladies life. But after that first night, Cecily has barred him from her room and neither one treats the other one with any respect. Cecily's father has taken his ship back to America shortly after the wedding or she would have asked for his help in settling her marriage. But now almost a month into this marriage, nothing has changed. Cecily nor Flavion can get along with each other. Flavion has gone on to flaunt his mistress around town buying her things with Cecily's dowry money. Cecily and her close friends keep thinking of ways to end her marriage to Flavion even with Flavion's death. But, their talk turns over to Cecily having a affair, which might push Flavion to divorce her. Stephen Nottingham is the second son so he had to earn his money. Stephen is very aware of who Cecily's father his since they are rival of sorts for the shipping business. But Stephen didn't get his cousin Flavion's letters asking for money again until it was too late to save Cecily. Stephen can't believe how dump his cousin is, to land such a catch as Cecily and to quickly turn around and break her heart. Stephen find Cecily both smart and beautiful but is he too late to save her? Cecily thinks at first that Stephen might be in on the scam that Flavion created, so she is mistrusting of him when they are introduced. But Cecily next thinks to use him to get the divorce she wants. I hope I didn't give to much away but there are more twist in this story and for a debut book this is a really good one. I couldn't wait to see how things played out in this story!
I am going to go with a 3.5 star rating - rounded up.
As far as debut novels go, this was one of the better ones that I have read. The author has a nice writing style, the book flows nicely and her characters were likable and her plot was believable. HOWEVER, the book has adultery and anyone who follows my reviews knows this is a problem for me. Now with this book, not all is as it seems, but that doesn't change the fact that Cecily engaged in an affair with Stephen while she was Flavion's wife.
I really can't go too much into the plot without totally ruining the book for you - but suffice it to say - the book has a lot of twists and turns, a poorly used heroine, a noble hero, a whacko mistress, a self-centered, immature, selfish husband, a mangy mutt, good friends, steamy love scenes (that I didn't enjoy because of the aforementioned adultery, but probably would have loved otherwise), snakes (both literally and figuratively), dips in the Serpentine, sword fights, some amusing moments and some heartbreaking moments and FINALLY a HEA that didn't seem like it could ever be.
I will definitely be looking for this author's future work and would have no problem recommending this book - as I said, all is not as it seems!
*I am voluntarily leaving a review for this book that was provided to me by the author*
Annabelle Anders' Hell Hath No Fury gripped me from the very first page! This choice was a new author for me and I am so glad that I got this eBook. I could not put it down. The writing was marvellous, the story was well built and the characters were so believable. Stephen Nottingham is now one of my favourite heroes - loyal, loving and unbearable responsible. And Cecily was great! I loved how capable she was in dealing with everything that life threw at her! Such a strong character. I love a 'second son'/'cousin' trope in historical romances and Anders does not disappoint in her skill at weaving a fast paced, heart wrenching story. Absolutely adored this book.
The sex scenes were romantic and not awkward, they were well structured within the story and not there as 'filler', they added to the Romans between the MCs.
I receive this ARC by the author for honest review. This is the fist time reading anything from this author. What a great read it was. I really enjoyed this novel. It was different for me. Love the hole historical romance. It was a great read. Love how Cecily does things to the man who so call love her. It made me wat to jump in the book. It mad me mad and crazy. What a Rollercoaster! I felt like her, I was right in her shoes. Great read and great writing. It was well written and put together. It was. delight like to read. Every page, every chapter had me hooked all the way the end. It was to die for! Highly recommend everybody read this lovely novel. 💖💖💖
I really enjoyed this book and found it difficult to put down. Cecily was a strong character and she needed to be! How fortunate for her that Stephen was nothing like his cousin, her husband, the Earl of Kensington. However this very fact, that he had honour, could cause her problems. I loved some of the banter with her friends, particularly from Emily, at the dinner party. This is an author I will be looking out for in the future. Highly recommend this book for readers who enjoy a few surprises.
Received this book from Net Galley for an honest review. The description of the book caught my eye immediately. Hell Hath No Fury Annabelle Anders *Disclaimer: I received this book as an ARC from the author. The following review is my own, with no input, promises, or payment from the author*. All through my teens and into my early twenties all I pretty much read were historical romances. Smut books based in regency England, or the Wild West. Now in my late thirties I tend to read pretty much all genres, except historical romances. So, with that being said, I decided to dip back into a forgotten favorite. Now, back then it was Johanna Lindsay, Amanda Quick, and Connie Mason for my favored authors. Ms. Anders fits right in with their writing style. It’s a fast paced, fun read with some mystery and a little lovin’ to spice things up. The story is well written, with entertaining characters that pull at you. I loved the interactions between Cecily and her group of friends. Those young ladies are an absolute hoot. The plots they hatch, the support they give, every woman needs a group of friends just as loyal. I look forward to more from this author
Personally, I feel like marriage in a time when divorce is impossible and women have the rights of livestock is meaningless. I notice some of the morality police being like, “it doesn’t matter how horrible her husband is or how much he terrorizes her or how in love she is with the hero - cheating is wrong!” Sorry, I don’t agree. She was trying to get a divorce. And the ending completely vindicated their romance.
I surprisingly enjoyed this morally grey plot. Somehow, it was funny as opposed to cringy. I was looking forward to how the author would bring about a HEA and I was not disappointed. I liked the characters, their romance and the banter. The mystery was an added bonus. I especially enjoyed Cecily's friends' plotting to kill Flavian. Stephen was adorable.
