This volume was just as loveable as the first for me. Incredibly steamy, high stakes, and this one had more action than the previous volume. I think this also did a really good job of showing how dangerous Oya's word is, and how Yuri is beginning to truly understand the danger, where she wasn't as aware before. I cannot wait for the next volume!

This series is basically the straight version of Ayano Yamane's BL Finder books - lots of sex, violence, and terrible, terrible decisions made by the main character. It is unquestionably one of the most questionable titles I'm reading and it is an absolute train wreck...and I kind of love it for that. It never pretends to be anything it's not, but Yuri, despite her inability to make intelligent choices, is nobody's doormat either.

I guess what I'm getting at is that this is the best bad series I can think of.

I enjoyed this one! It had a bit more plot than the prior novel and I enjoyed that. It is all a bit corny/classic mafia in some ways, but I love that! We see more of Oya's world and the danger he faces with rival gangs. Excited to read more in the series.

Steam: on page sex scenes (I think two?? at least...)

Sex sex sex. Russian mafia. Whisky. Violence. Chicken. Sex sex sex.

This book is pure smut nonsense like a steamier version of something you’d expect to find in one of those seven thousand Amazon titles that seem to exist to support the shirtless man industry. If somebody set fire to a Harlequin romance I feel like this series might be the end result.

Our included chapters this time oscillate between various types of trash like Oscar the Grouch with ADHD. The story here seems largely superfluous to Oya and Yuri having a lot of well illustrated sex. These two are certainly healthy, even if their relationship isn’t.

I’m not sure what it is with these books about questionable relationships, but they seem hell bent on making the male lead look better largely on the premise of ‘well he’s not as bad as this other character we introduced’. As if that somehow excuses somebody else’s behaviour.

So it goes, with Russian counterpart guy who owns a casino, kidnaps Yuri, and dresses her down into next to nothing so he can try and make a move on her, first consensually and then decidedly less so. I will admit that this is all partially Yuri’s fault (not the instigation, to be clear, she deserves none of this) for having a very narrow-minded view of gender and gang violence.

For all that Yuri is whiny as hell this volume, complete with some breakdowns that make her seem like a desperate celebrity more than real person, she does acquit herself well when in peril, cutting down her kidnapper with a few biting remarks. I mean, honestly, I am not reading this story because I’m expecting to find positive role models.

Yuri realizes what she’s in for, gets upset over what she’s in for, but then they just decide to sex over any bumps in the relationship. And hey, why not? I won’t ever suggest that this series is good, but you could do worse for a bad read.

Oya remains a possessive, dominant dude who the book seems to love goading to the point where he goes absolutely off his rocker and gets enraged. I will give him this, he at least solves all the problems that are directly his fault for creating, so there’s that.

And the art is mostly great, which does help (although the shot of Yuri eating chicken is so incredibly nasty that it could probably put Junji Ito off his lunch). I really wish she had more to do this volume - she was a lot more of a character in the first instalment (and boy do I want to see her private and public lives crash into one another any time now).

When Oya delivers the incredibly cringe line during the opening romp that he wishes he could stay inside Yuri where it’s safe (slickly comparing her lady bits to a bomb shelter, the Lothario), well, you’re either running for the hills or cackling and turning the pages and I know where I am.

3 stars - a definite round up from a 2.5, really. This book is just sex and violence, literally, and to borrow a phrase I have used before, it is a very sex positive series, inasmuch as I’m positive they’ll be having sex next volume. It might be fun for all the wrong reasons, but that doesn’t make it less fun as a consequence.

A solid addition

A little shorter then the first one I think but no less good. It gave loads of drama and that’s my bread and butter. I’m intrigued to see where this will go once they are back home.

Boy, things are getting mid in here. I told myself if there was a r*pe scene in this book I would shelve smut for the rest of my life. It didn't happen, but it got close, which has sort of turned me off from the series ngl. Yes, I was yelling from the rooftops, FINALLY YAKUZA SMUT!!!!!! but now i'm like, oh yeah, I guess our main girly is going to get kidnapped and junk all the time, while the book I actually want is shopping and eat ice cream but it's tough because he's a hArDenEd YaKuZa mAn.
I liked book one because it was an unlikely pairing that went through some difficulty deciding if they were going to act on their feelings and passion, but it's sort of maxed out way too early, and now girly is waiting up all night for her Yakuza boyfriend to come back from his gun battle and tuck her in at night...wah.
Looks like it's The Way Of the House Husband fan fic for me lads.

Wow, this was a significant downgrade from the last volume. I'm all for drama, folks, but not when the drama is our leading lady screaming and crying the entire volume. The gorgeous art style was the only saving grace here. Not sure whether I'm going to continue with this series or not, this volume was such a disappointment.

Thank you, my darling VIZ Media & NetGalley, for allowing me once again access to your books! ALL OPINIONS AND THOUGHTS ARE MY OWN!

Not as spicy as the first one but so much fluff <3
The story is definitely growing as their relationship develops, and I really adore how they care about each other; I do want more stories because that mobster/mafia one moving is VERY slow.

In Band zwei gibt es etwas weniger Sex, dafür gerät Yuri in eine sehr gefährliche Situation. Die russische Mafia betritt das Spielfeld. Einige Zeichnungen (die Hühncheneskalation) und auch Reaktionen der Charaktere waren over the top, aber insgesamt war die Geschichte wieder unterhaltsam.

"Yakuza lover" continues to surprise positively in this sequel.

I really like how Mr. Oya is portrayed. He is a powerful and respected yakuza boss, depicted as having a muscular build, with a distinctive tattoo on his back, and he dresses in a traditional yakuza style with a suit, tie, and black gloves. He is also shown to be a skilled fighter and strategist, able to protect himself and his gang from rival yakuza groups.

Mr. Oya is a stern and serious leader, who commands respect and loyalty from his subordinates. He is often shown making tough decisions and engaging in violent confrontations, but he is also depicted as having a softer side when it comes to his relationship with Yuri.

What makes this Manga good is that the characters actually have a development. I experience the main characters as more than one-dimensional. They are put to tests and through these tests we get to see character development.

Like with Mr. Oya; he is initially drawn to Yuri's beauty and her strong will, which sets her apart from the other women in his life. As their relationship develops, he comes to appreciate her honesty, her loyalty, and her fearlessness in the face of danger. Yuri represents a challenge for Mr. Oya, as she is not intimidated by his power or his reputation, and this intrigues him.

As their relationship deepens, Yuri begins to have a transformative effect on Mr. Oya. She helps him to see beyond the violent and dangerous world of the yakuza, and to rediscover the more human and compassionate side of himself. Yuri's influence on Mr. Oya is particularly evident in the way he treats her, as he becomes more protective and caring towards her, and is willing to put his own safety and reputation on the line to keep her safe.

Yuri's influence on Mr. Oya is a positive one I think, as she helps him to become a more empathetic and compassionate person. She challenges his assumptions and prejudices, and encourages him to see the world in a different way. Their relationship represents a transformative journey for both characters, as they learn to navigate their feelings for each other and to confront the challenges of their respective worlds.

If you like an easy-to-read romance and crave to immerse your imagination in a story that is not 100 chapters in a volume, I can recommend "Yakuza lover volume 2". In fact, I'd say it's an absolute must-read for adult manga readers. Also, the author's art style makes the experience beautiful, from the cover to each and every panel.

Today’s post is on Yakuza Lover, Vol.2 by Nozomi Mino. It is 176 pages long and is published by Shojo Beat. The cover has Yuri and Oya on it in an embrace. As it is the second volume in the series you need to have read the first volume to understand the plot. The intended reader is someone who likes josei manga, and over the top romance stories. There is mild foul language, sex, and violence in this manga. There Be Spoilers Ahead.

From the back of the book- Yuri and Oya’s romantic getaway in Shanghai is cut short when sinister Russian mob boss Semilio kidnaps Yuri and tries to make her his own. But Yuri won’t be won over so easily. As she fights off Semilio’s advances, Oya suddenly comes to her rescue. With Yuri finally out of harm’s way, Oya charges headfirst into battle against Semillio, leaving Yuri to wonder if he’ll make it out alive.

Review- Yuri and Oya are enjoying a weekend away together when his work comes to find them. Yuri is kidnapped then Oya has to deal with the other guy, this volume is full of drama. Story is more serious than the first volume but it is a nice change of pace. I like to see that Mino is stretching her story into more interesting and complex places like dealing with Oya’s job and the danger it will bring Yuri. Another translation for the title is Dangerous Lover and we really see that in this volume. Of course because this is a romance manga all is well in the end but I think that Yuri will experience more of Oya’s real life as the story goes on.

I give this volume a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.

This volume had more seggs scenes than the previous volume that it felt like there was barely any plot. They were like a pair of Rhinos, like Yuri was as insatiable as the Darren Hayes song... but I think I understand the reasoning behind wanting to have Oya as much as possible, since they never know when he'll get kill, being the underboss of a Yakuza clan and all.

Both character are still in that two dimensional stage that we see at the beginning in Mangas (Some Mangas stay like that) but I feel (and hope) that might start changing thanks to some of the bonus chapters on this volume and we might start seeing a little bit of Oya's backstory... I been wondering why has he been covering his left eye?

I also liked how Yuri is realizing that Oya's world is dangerous but that no matter how much she loves him if he ever dies, she still has a life an people to live for and even though she was put in a position when he had to save her eventually, she did fight for herself and not just stood paralyzed while someone was trying to abuse her.

One thing I'm struggling with though, is how sweet and pure Oya looks... like I see him and he reminds me of Fujitaka Kinomoto (Sakura Card Captors' Dad) Please stop smiling so kindly... give me some wicked smirking (I can't with myself)

PS: I said on Vol 1 that it's was not as smutty as if was expecting it to be, so I show my boyfriend some of the panels and he said "What do you mean? this is very graphic..." O.o now I'm wondering if I've been ruined for life by all these smutty romance I've read...

Review for Vol 1 and 2:
This is your typical "good girl who falls in love with a bad boy" story. Yuri gets into trouble at a party, and Oya, a Yakuza underboss, swoops in and saves her. Yuri can't get Oya out of her mind, so she meets up with him again, and despite him living a dangerous life, she decides to start a relationship with him. I enjoyed this title, but I didn't love it. There are things I appreciate about it though. The author has made sure that everything is consensual and mutual. The lewd scenes are done well and show both parties participating and enjoying the deed. Yuri is not portrayed as some helpless girl who just "receives" pleasure. Oya is a beautiful man, and I love seeing his gentle side alongside his powerful side. The dangerous side of dating a yakuza is not romanticized. Yuri goes into this knowing full well that Oya might just die the next day, and she also might get hurt because of him. The art is cool, EXCEPT Yuri's eyes are ridiculous and make her look like an alien, lol. Now onto what I didn't like, there's no depth to the story. It's just a smutty romance, and it gets pretty silly at times, which is not that bad; I laughed during some parts. Overall, It's a fun read, but don't go in expecting any substance.

Looking at my fellow reviewers on here... I couldn't agree with you all more, especially in that this is currently one of the best worst manga I can think of at the moment. It's decently written at most, the art is good, the characters are also decent, and everything is still very two dimensional. But darn, I'd be lying if I said this volume didn't make improvements on the prior volume! Characters gain perhaps half an inch of depth and things pick up and get more exciting in this volume!
There isn't a whole lot to say about it. I do understand Yuri's feelings though, I can greatly relate to her heart in this volume, but I feel as though by living, and at times putting ourselves in dumb situations, likely most of us have, right? Maybe that's why I feel as though some more depth has been gained, even if by just a bit, because I can relate to something now, and some choices made by these characters have more impact and consequences, no matter how small. Still very unrealistic, but entertaining anyway.

Thank you Viz Media and NetGalley for allowing me to read this arc copy.

I enjoyed the first one and could not wait to read this book.

I got the creep vibes from a character in the first book within only two pages, and he does not disappoint in the second book. The creep factor went up exponentially as the story progresses. I personally wanted do violence to him.

There is a lot of emotional upheaval for Yuri in this book as she realizes some home truths. For me, it was hard to read, but the ending of that arc was amazing.

This was definitely an emotional rollercoaster. I enjoyed the ride with this book. I can't wait to read the third volume!

Thanks again Viz and NetGalley.

TURN UP THE HEAT!!!!!

Holy crap this manga is spicy! But that's not a bad thing of course! Oya and Yuri are back and this time, things are much steamier and suspenseful. I have to say, the story picked up a bit because of course, you have to remember, Oya is involved with the mafia! So naturally, there are going to be bad guys coming after them.

I called it that the Russian mafia leader was going to be involved. The guy is terrifying!!!! But the good thing is, Oya isn't afraid to back down. I won't spoil too much but things got really scary for Oya and Yuri. But I will say, Yuri turned into a badass this volume! Love her more and more!

I can't wait for the next one!

“I want to feel Oya pulsing inside of me as much as I can. It reminds me… that he’s still alive.”

Well, y’all know what time it is. This manga had one job, but the sexy scenes still ain’t sexy. The tongue kisses still look lizard-gross.

Oya is a locomotive that never gives out of steam or dick, and Yuri is just a water fountain on command. I mean, I guess.

I’m not going to touch the paper-thin plot and characters, the cliches (it’s got your favorite shoujo trope, ladies: narrowly escaping sexual harassment + assault [sarcasm]), or the cringe. Both the characters are just so bland.

This series isn’t trying to reach any readable standards, and it acknowledges that. It just wants to look cute and be sexy (which it is not imo). Let this book be the plotless smut it wants to be.

If I'm being honest, it's really bad and not even in a guilty pleasure sort of way. Still, for what it is, most will find it entertaining. But it’s a bit too cartoony for me.
