“You only see things as they appear to be, not what they truly are. How did you end up here?”

A huge thank you to the author for sending me a copy of this book.

Gripping, immersive and addictive; I could not stop reading this book. The Olympus Trials follows Taura, a 21-year-old Taurus, when she and other zodiacs her age must enter a competition in order to master their abilities and find their place within their Constellation. Despite the reputation of the elite warriors of the Taurus constellation, the novel centres around an initially overshadowed protagonist and follows Taura’s struggle and progression within the competition. It’s a brilliantly gripping story of an underdog within a brutal world built upon astrology and the signs of the zodiacs.

Right from the first few few pages, you’re immediately thrust into an intricate and mysterious world of constellations, with the imminent threat to their survival impending down on the zodiacs within the Unchartered Forest. I found the world building one of the most interesting aspects of this book; the immense amount of details about the setting included in this book, and expanded upon throughout, helped to build a sense of mystery which was paralleled by the gripping plot. There was clearly so much thought put into each constellation to establish its traits and characteristics, making each feel distinctive and unique.

The development of Taura as a protagonist throughout the novel was extraordinary; within such a brutal world and competitive constellation, Taura proved herself to be worthy of her life in it. The Taurus constellation are renown for their stubborn, determined nature and although many of the characters were zodiacs from that constellation, they each felt distinctive in the way they portrayed their defining qualities; with Europa’s resolute loyalty to her friend, Isa acting on her stubborn grudge towards her enemy and Taura’s eventual determination in the trials. I loved seeing Taura’s personal growth throughout the book from her initial weakness and consuming guilt into a strong-willed zodiac, embodying her own characteristics and traits with pride.

I had an amazing time reading this book and I would highly recommend to fantasy readers who are looking for a new unique and fascinating book. This book was gripping from the beginning and I cannot wait to see how the story continues in the next book.

Complex and rich storytelling rolled into an intriguing debut indie read!

From the very start I was immediately hooked! Leeder’s imagination is so rich, weaving astrology and the zodiacs into a powerhouse story as they undertake the Olympus Trials in order to wield their powers to take back their homeland which is under a curse by evil forces. Mystery, adventure and fantasy collide with astrology.

The world-building is super detailed; an elaborate mystical world wherein competition is rife. While the workings of the zodiacs is incredibly elaborate, the way the author has written it is very compelling storytelling. I was so intrigued about ALL the zodiacs, their personalities, their appearances, their purpose numbers, and totem animals. The end pages gives you an absorbing summary of the Zodiacs and their traits and powers. Using the appendix at the back as a Libran I am elf-like whose home is a woodland forest (swoons!) and my purpose number from using the maths equation provided is 3 which is incredibly accurate to say the least.

There were a few spelling and grammatical errors, as well as repetition. Also the characters who are suppose to be 21, seem much younger in the way they are portrayed. But all in all this does not mar the reading experience.

Leeder has put so much research into this it is evident through every page, woven in with her incredible imagination. It was such a stand-out in originality, immersive and developed. I hope there is more to come!

A captivating fictional story that not only teaches us about real life astrology and numerology but also takes you on an extraordinary journey.
The author clearly has done alot of research to bring this story together.

Her descriptive writing makes it very easy to invision the charaters, creatures and scenes she has created.
Her use of astrology allows you to really relate to and undertsand her characters also.

This novel uses light humour as well as tragedy to keep you hooked from start to finish.
A very unpredictable and haunting ending.

Definitely worth a read!
