Their Reaper #1

Reaper Hospital: Code Possessive Boss

Rate this book
When I died, I didn't expect to be reborn as something evil.

Now I'm undercover at a busy hospital as a healer. I'm called a miracle worker by some and a scam artist by others. The truth is, they're all right about me. I'm not technically a healer. I'm a reaper.

The kicker is, I've found a way to heal by using my powers of death, something no reaper has ever done before. It's scary, but I've tried to accept that this is all my new life can be, and I'm making the best of it.

But then I went and slept with my boss.

Oh, and did I mention he's my new neighbor? And that the hot doctor and sexy male nurse from work are his roommates? Things have definitely gotten complicated.

When I realize that not everything is as it seems, I might just need these sexy men to help me with my new job. I'm just not sure I can hide my true nature from them, or keep them safe if I drag them into my world.

What's a new reaper to do?

REAPER HOSPITAL CODE POSSESSIVE BOSS is the first full book in the Their Reaper Series, however, there is a short prequel titled Unlikely Reaper that you can pick up right now. So, if you like steamy paranormal reverse harem romance, sexy doctors, nurses, and bosses, preorder your copy now and dive into this exciting new world!

I wasn’t sure where this book was going to go after reading the prequel but it definitely kept me interested. I would recommend reading the prequel before this just so you have some background knowledge and you can get to know the characters a bit more.

I did like the characters and I hope that the backstory of the men will be spoken about in the next book. The FMC was strong and fought for what she thought was right, no matter what others said.

I kind of expected the little twist at the end but it did leave an opening for a good second book.

In this series we meet Jules, who became a reaper to save her son. We get to see her in the hospital having to work her reaper skills. To be taken down many twists and turns whilst we see what she does. With the added three handsome men in Ajax, Connor and Brad that have each fallen in a way for Jules. Creates such a wicked storyline that comes to a close on such a crazy cliffhanger ending which I did kinda wonder if it would happen a few chapters before. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Short

Short and unfulfilling? I was on the ledge debating taking this leap since this book was definitely a very short read, and also seems to be a series. those two things are usually red flags for me, but the blurb was seriously beckoning me, and I went on to read a story that I couldn't wrap my mind around?. It also didn't seem to connect together in a way it needed to be? There are different issues with every character, like side stories? And they all just don't connect. So much unanswered things as well? Like why did the vampires fight the nurses? We don't get anything on that event, but its mentioned a few times. How does the reaper not know about supernaturals? I mean they die don't they? Why are we learning about Conner being a rogue? What the significance of this? The reapers want to kill as much, yet it seems to bring unwanted attention? Wouldn't it be smarter to do what our H has been doing this whole time? We get no real inside depths to these characters, I wanted to know about Ajax and him being a God, or falling god? How did they all become close? Did they just know by looking at each other they were supernaturals? And if so, how do they not know this about our H? I just have so many questions spinning around in my head. And this book glossed over everything with nothing in all honesty.

The Compassionate Reaper . . .

Jules is a reaper, but with a big difference from other reapers. She is supposed to reap souls and bring death to those on the list she is provided, but she is uncomfortable with what she has to do. When she discovers a way, at the busy hospital, Mercy Angel, where she works, to use the deaths for something positive, she begins to heal other patients in an unorthodox way.

With the Reaper Council watching her closely, she needs to be careful! She finds herself involved with three guys – Ajax a fallen god, Brad a vampire, and Connor a rogue werewolf – who may somehow be able to help her when she needs it the most. What is going to happen with Jules as the Council does not like what she is doing?

I got to say first that reapers are one of my favourite supernaturals, and honestly, I don't think they get enough love. So for me, this book was perfect. There is a 0.5 book for this, called Unlikely Reaper and it gives you a bit of a set-up for the FMC and her guys. Jules is the FMC, and she's working in a hospital as a healer because it's not like she can tell anyone she's a reaper. It's something that is meant to be super-secret and literally only her "boss" knows. But she doesn't like the fact that she's now a killer, and it doing something on the side which those in charge are not happy with so they send someone to keep an eye on what she is doing.

I really can't wait to see what happens in the next book, especially after that epic cliffhanger we were left with. There is a lot going on in the characters lives other than just reaper business and I can only imagine it's all going to come to a head at some point, and I'm totally there for it.

This is such an interesting storyline and I’m all here for it. I love reapers and Lacey Carter Anderson does a fantastic job of bringing this particular reaper telling to life. What a great beginning to a new series and I can’t wait for the next book.

This is off to such a great start! A reaper who can heal instead of reap?? Who would have thought of that? Well obviously this author did and it’s so so good that I couldn’t put it down! It’s exciting and a fascinating read with some fantastic characters and is a must read!

This was a very interesting book. Jules is a reaper with a conscious. She works at a hospital as a healer. She is supposed to bring death to those on her list but she struggles with it. Outside forces have decided to interfere in her job. This book has all the feels in it and some serious steam. I am interested to see where the next book goes.

good read 👍🏽

The writing is good and I enjoy the storyline. I would have liked a prologue with some background because the book jumps right in, in my opinion, but the author gives more details as you read. I could have done with more descriptors for the characters to get a better idea of what they look like but overall I liked this book and am excited for the next one.

This is book one of the Their Reaper series and the main character is a female reaper called Jules, who is quite new to the job and has just been called up in front of the Reaper Council and told they are watching her actions closely! She works undercover at a busy hospital, Mercy Angel, as a healer, hired by the CEO of the hospital and her boss Drake, who gives her a list of souls to reap in the hospital. She has realised that she can use the light from her reaped souls to in fact help heal people and prefers not to kill anyone unless she really has no choice on saving them. The hospital staff don’t have a clue that she is in fact a reaper and whilst some call her a miracle worker because of her healing abilities, some call her a scam artist and don’t believe in any type of airy fairy healing as being real. Being able to heal people with her suddenly acquired reaper skills is unheard of and not something she wants to reveal to her boss or the Council. She made a deal with Drake for the life of her seriously ill son, before when she was human, but never realised she would be made into a reaper and have to kill people. To pull out their very soul as they lie dying. Her new role is scary and overwhelming at times and she still has too much of her human side within her memories, to be as clinical and shut off as Drake and another reaper she meets, Frederick!
She lives next door to three gorgeous men who also work in the hospital and even ended up sleeping with one of them in a moment of weakness and reaper high. The one she slept with is Ajax and he is a board member at the hospital, but also a god. He moved back to the area and basically bought his way into the job to stave off boredom, but met two others, Connor and Brad, who have become like his brothers. Connor is a nurse and rogue lone wolf shifter, who is allowed to stay in a pack area by the grace of the current alpha, and Brad is a vampire and also a doctor, both at the same hospital. The three men live in the house next door to Jules and can see her from some of their rooms. Each is falling for her in different ways, but she has been avoiding Ajax for weeks, ever since they ended up in bed together. She is to never allow anyone to know what she truly is and relationships aren’t really a good thing in her job. Matters get complicated after another reaper, Frederick, turns up and starts to reap, ie kill, all the patients she has been healing. She didn’t like him at first sight, never mind once she found out what he was doing to her patients.
Pack business starts to get heated and news of a group of hunters in town, mean danger for both Connor and Brad. Ajax will do anything to keep his family, his brothers, safe from harm and also vows to get back into Jules’ bed, one way or another. For a god, this is the first time he has felt so deeply for a human woman and even if he is willing to share, he wants to know she is his. Danger is all around for this new reaper as her job gets more complicated and threats are made against her human former family members. Reapers are hard to kill, but she really feels like someone needs to be killed for what he is doing and she would love to be the one to do it! She had the three men fooled when she got rid of some vampires that were attacking two of the men and had the upper hand, but now she is caught red handed by them all, just as she tries to take matters into her own hands. She isn’t going to be able to hide her true nature from these three men for much longer, but if she involves them in her business, she isn’t sure that she can keep them all safe. She knows nothing about what the three men truly are and that should lead to an interesting reveal in the next book I hope. I would have loved to read the prequel to this series first, but didn’t know if it before reading this. The books brings a bit of steam and almost into the realm of a reverse harem right at the end of this one and will no doubt develop fully shortly. An interesting recruitment manner for a new reaper, using a desperate mother and making a deal without telling her the small print of the contract up front! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Reaper Hospital: Code Possessive Boss is the first book in Lacey Carter Andersen’s Their Reaper series. Jules is a reaper at a local hospital, but she’s not exactly following the rules of being a reaper. Instead of solely taking the lives of those who are marked for death, she chooses whom to save and whom to let go. A change is in the winds though. Her boss warns her that she’s being watched by the Counsel, who summoned her already, and that she needs to be careful. What Jules doesn’t know is that something darker is coming to town and that she and the men she’s attracted to are about to be caught in a real storm of chaos.
Reaper Hospital is an interesting first book in this new series. Jules is leading a new life because she chose to sacrifice for another. Now, she’s tasked with taking lives, not restoring them. However, since she was told that no one can tell who is doing what in the reaper realm, she’s taking advantage. Too bad it’s coming back to bite her in the butt. I have mixed feelings toward Jules. I feel like she’s thumbing her nose at the warning she’s been given. Her boss, Drake, isn’t around and so while she has the three men who are interested in her, they can’t help her. Not really. She’s keeping what she is a secret, and they’re doing the same. It’s literally a circle of secrets. Makes me wonder...how is all of this going to go when the truth comes out?
The author hints at a lot of things brewing in the shadows. This amps up the tension of the story as it starts feeling like a major storm brewing. My question is this though – how old are these guys? I ask that because they are seriously more hyper-focused on Jules than their own surroundings. Shouldn’t they be more aware of who’s in the area, especially around the hospital? How do reapers and other supes not know about each other? Especially Ajax since he’s a god. I really need the guys to get their top heads in gear and stop focusing on head number two. I’m not too keen on this new “reaper” ( I honestly suspect he’s more than what he lets on), but he definitely brings a major twist to the story.
While I absolutely ate this book up, there are quite a few things I can’t help being disappointed in. I kept waiting for Jules to get some sense, but it never happens. I’m not saying she should give up, but know when to be smart. Same with the guys not being so focused on their lust all the time. The characters are annoying at times, but the storyline is definitely a page-turner. I’m rating this book 4 out of 5 stars. Brace yourself for the ending. If you hate cliffhangers, you’re not going to like it, but if you don’t mind them...be prepared to be begging for more.

I just can't

Plot soup. It's like word salad but worse. Everything is muddied, there's zero world building, beings pop in and out of existence with no explanations, the supernatural world exists but no one knows about each other? We have gods, reapers, shifters, vampires, and who knows what else. Some seem to know about each other, most don't know the others exist. It doesn't make sense. The prequel offers exactly nothing in the way of valid information.
All we do know:
*Harvesting souls/energy makes her horny
*She can do something no other reaper has or can- heal
*The other reapers don't like her healing
*For some reason reapers only exist to harvest for selfish reasons- to stay young and pretty forever

And there, that's the sum of our knowledge of this world. What being creates others to simply have them around killing to stay young and pretty? Makes no sense. Sounds more like selfish vampires or witches than reapers who are usually leading lost souls to the afterlife. So, yeah, done. I didn't get but maybe 30% in before realizing that it wasn't going to get any better.

I don't know why I keep trying this author. They write excellent blurbs. Catchy, intriguing, but the stories never deliver. Ever. Always so far off the blurb it's like 2 different concepts. And the characters are always selfish, TSTL. Seriously, she's been a reaper how long and she doesn't bother to learn about the council? About why her abilities are different? About the other beings in the world? Doesn't try to find any other way or releasing the build up brought on by harvesting? They take her human family away and she just accepts it? If she can anchor to a place why can't she anchor to a being? She could have followed her kids wherever they were taken. Just...ugh. If you're given powers you learn about them. It's that simple. And then, when you have control, you experiment. Especially when some controlling body is trying to make you do something you don't want to. Because you can't rebel against an unknown. Duh. TSTL.

Reapers, shifters, vampires and Gods…oh my! What more can a girl ask for?!?

This was my first time reading Lacey Carter Andersen and I am officially hooked! I love how masterfully she has created a series based upon reapers and other equally amazing supernaturals and builds a variety of amazing characters that just draw you in.

Reaper Hospital: Code Possessive Boss is an intriguing paranormal reverse harem centered around a hospital full of intrigue and mystery as your quickly begun to realize that the staff is more than just your average human—though ironically they each seem to think that’s what the other is. Jules is our beautiful FMC that made the ultimate deal and trapped in her old life for that of a new life as a reaper—and even though she made the sacrifice for the greatest of reasons as a mother, she finds herself at odds with what the reaper life entitles and tries often to create a balance. Even though it’s a balance the Reaper council definitely doesn’t agree with and seeks a way to stop her anyway it can. Luckily she finds herself involved with a sexy threesome of a fallen god, a vampire and a werewolf to help her along the way. And luckily for her these three sexy alpha males will do anything to help her and make her a part of their life because with the explosive cliffhanger ending that Lacey left us off with she’s going to need all the help she can get!

Overall this book was an amazing read, with an amazing news world, intriguing plot and batch of character to fall in love with and I can’t wait for book 2 to come! And though it’s not necessary to read the prequel before starting this new series I highly recommend reading it first—especially if you hate going in to a story blind and love all the background information possible.

A very interesting twist on the reaper tales. I wasn't sure what to expect with this book, I had not read the prequel but I probably will go back to read it now. I was in for a treat though, there are plenty of twists in this book, and you never quite know what is going to happen until it does. The ending of the book definitely leaves you wanting more and I can not wait to get to it!

Jules has agreed to become a reaper to save her son. The thing is though, she is not quite comfortable taking lives, she figures out a way to channel her powers into healing and that is where our story starts. She is billed as a holistic healer at the major hospital and only she can perform certain duties- so she is quite in demand. Unfortunately, the reaper council knows that she is up to something and has her followed/watched. But Jules is not alone, she has 3 men looking out for her- even though she has no idea what they are. In a world where she is trying to protect others from getting hurt will she be the one burned in the end for not trusting?

This was a very good start to a new series and group of characters. We are dealing with vampires, Gods, shifters, and reapers all coexisting. Now the FMC is not aware of her men's backgrounds and they do not know about her supernatural abilities either. This makes for an interesting read and you will be pulling your hair (in a good way) begging for them to get a clue! The book reads very easily and flows quite naturally. You are kept in the loop for the most part, though there is an edge of mystery to it. I really am rooting for Jules, I do want to see her grow a bit more and become a confident woman once again.

Like I said before, a very good start to Andersen's newest book baby!!

Murder, lust, supernatural secrets and...career goals?

📢 READ THE PREQUEL!
-Titled: Unlikely Reaper

I'm liking the characters so far and can't wait to see how all the different relationships evolve in the next book.

To watch (read, der) the 3 love interests navigate hiding the same level of secrets from Jules as she is hiding from them is funny. Once they all just come clean about their supernatural natures, they'll be able to relax and progress in their relationships.

I'm curious to know whether Drake purposefully put Jules in the the house next to Ajax, Brad and Connor in an effort to help her settle into her new life better. He seems to genuinely care about her and wants her to move forward so maybe this was a little nudge?

Seeing her family move on is, though heartbreaking for her, completely necessary for her character development. I hope she's able to see them again in the far away future but in a healthier state of mind.

Tbh, I like Frederick. Even though he's a massive PITA causing Jules an insane amount of emotional distress. I'm here for the ride, wherever it's going. If he ends up becoming #4? Here for it. If he has to finally die a real death, I'm here for that too.

I'm ready to see what happens in the next book!

A few posties for the read:
📌 Take the time to read the prequel
📌 Multi POV
📌 No M/M
📌 Part of the story involves very sick, near death children (and adults but...children)

Loved this new series!!

Wow, this was a new story from lacey carter Andersen and I loved it from beginning to end! Jules gave up her mortal life to save her son and is now a reaper that works at a hospital making the decisions on who dies. Except she's figured out a way to take some of the power she gets from those she meets die and heal those she thinks should live. Except she got caught and now there is another reaper at the hospital undoing all the healing she's done.

She works with three guys who are also her neighbors- Ajax (a fallen god but also on the hospital board), Brad (a vampire who's also a doctor), and Connor (a Shifter who is also a nurse). The three guys think she's human, and she thinks those three are also human. It's an interesting dynamic since she and Ajax had a rendezvous previously and the other two have fallen for her as well.

The book is awesome but does end with a cliffy. I can't wait to read book 2!

I recieved an ARC for my honest review.

This is book 1 in Andersen's Their Reaper series. This is a series read as it does end on a cliffhanger so be forewarned that if you read this one (and it's a good one) you will be compelled to continue. Also, there is a prequel to this read that will give you some back ground that may helpful.

So, this is an overall well written, exciting paranormal read. Our main character Jules is a reaper but one who is healing at the busy hospital she works at. Her boss warns her that the Reaper Council is watching her and she needs to be careful. Jules also becomes involved with the three guys who live next door and also work at the hospital: Ajax a fallen god and hospital board member, Brad a vampire and doctor, and Connor a rogue werewolf and nurse. A great start to this series, I love the twist on the reaper role and found this read captivating. With the cliffhanger ending I can't wait for book 2!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

This is book 1, but I would recommend reading Unlikely Reaper first - completely optional though.
Jules is working in a hospital as a healer to disguise her reaper job, but she's really struggling to reconcile her old life to her new one. Until she finds a loop hole so she can help patients instead of killing them. But the reaper bosses aren't happy and send someone to keep an eye on her, and she's not happy about it.
Her next door neighbours also work at the hospital and are attracted to her but she refuses to get close to anyone, much to their frustration. I enjoyed seeing them knocked down a peg or two.
Definitely a story to pull you in, a reaper with a heart. I enjoyed the interactions between the characters, there is definitely more to come with all the things going on, especially with the shifters.
I loved the little cliffhanger ending and I'm looking forward to seeing how the story continues.

A new RH series including various supernatural species, the balance between life and death, and the stark contrast between healing and killing. Jules is working as a special "nurse" at a hospital, offering spiritual healing, while in reality she is a reaper with a very different agenda. When Fredrick, another reaper that makes Jules' hair rise, comes to the hospital to "do a proper job", she is more than just annoyed - and would do anything to get rid of the man, especially when things get personal.
It is a rather interesting story though definitely not for everyone. Also the RH element is changing rather abruptly, for the majority of the book it is a slow burn with maybe one kiss and then suddenly you get 180 turn with steamy scene including the whole harem. There is definitely enough space for growth, regardless of plot, characters, or romance, and I am curious what turn the next book will take especially after that cliffhanger.

Good story

I really enjoyed this story about reaper Jules who works in a hospital. She has been found guilty of using the deads' lifeforce to bring patients back from the brink of death. Apparently she is upsetting the balance of human life and death. Down comes Frederick, another reaper who is tasked with 'doing the jobs she won't'. She fights him all the way but things take a turn for the sinister when a car crash victim enters the ER; her younger sister.

Frederick delights in telling Jules how much he will enjoy reaping her sister and that there is nothing she can do to stop him. So she takes his lifeforce, beheads, burns and burries him. All with the help from her hot supernatural colleagues and neighbours.

Jules doesn't know that they are lycan, vampire and a God. And they don't know what she is either. All they know is there is a sexual chemistry around the four of them.

Looking forwards to the next book.

If you love paranormal romances, you will LOVE this one!! It’s everything you could hope for and then some!! I’m so excited about what this series is going to bring and the journey it’s going to take me on. It’s a slow burn and a slow build of a world I quickly fell in love with. It ends on a cliffhanger that has me really looking forward to the next book.

The characters are wonderfully written!! Jules is a Reaper who wants to use her power for more than ending lives. Ajax, Brad, and Connor are her hot neighbors as well as coworkers. She’s attracted to them but doesn’t want to drag them into her chaotic reaper world. There is a lot that she doesn’t know about them though (and I don’t want to give it away). They have some secrets of their own. When another Reaper comes to her hospital to take the lives she’s trying to save, she’s going to need their help whether she knows it or not.

I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Freaking heck, this is a good book!

First: If you haven't read the Prequel yet ("Book #4"), read it first. You can apparently read this one first no problem, but I'm definitely glad I read the prequel first - it gives you good insight to what's going on and who the characters are, better!

This book is awesome so far. A woman who sacrificed her life to save her son's didn't realize this was what she was in for - she's a reaper. She has to collect souls, lives. She hates herself for it, but would do it again to save her son. She seems to have a gift though that no other reaper knows how to do - Heal people, by using the other souls she's collected. And the Reaper Council isn't happy about it.

I'm pretty happy with this book, I read it with Kindle Unlimited but may end up buying these anyways! I'm off to read Book #2 now! :)

DNF @ 79%

THE FMC - I don't like Jules. I honestly cannot see why Ajax, Connor, and Brad are so attracted to her. So far all I've seen from her are stupid, selfish decisions. I'm also not on her side when it comes to her "healing" because I believe in the balance. Her desire to "heal" doesn't seem altruistic to me, more like her just having a god complex - so she can feel good about herself. She already realized that whoever she "heals", Frederick reaps so I don't know why she expects her sister to be exempted.

The MMCs - So far, they all seemed interchangeable because all they're thinking about all the time is Jules. I wish I saw/read more personality from each of them.

THE PLOT - Intriguing but poorly executed.

Do I recommend? No, I don't.

Wow! What a magnificent start of series. Though I will say Jules is a bit annoying at times. You made a deal and refuse to keep your full end of said deal. She has a big beautiful heart and you can feel her caring, love throughout the story. They guys are fantastic. This series is original in certain ways and it is truly refreshing. It has drama pack throughout it. It has a bit of action sprinkled into it. The characters are stunningly developed and the descriptions are vivid as they easily allow me to picture what is happening throughout the story. The end did end in a cliffhanger of a doozy and boy I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. This is a fantastic story that is a must read.

Interesting Story 💀
This is the first in a new series focused on Jules, a reaper who is supposed to take lives yet struggles with the task. She also manages to use the lives she takes to save others! Unfortunately this has been bought to the attention of the Reaper Council and she’s now being watched. 😣
Through her work at the hospital she’s collected some admirers, all of whom re aware of each other’s supernatural abilities: Ajax the god, Connor the wolf, and Brad the vampire. 😍 However they don’t what Jules is and Jules doesn’t know what they are…..which creates some unique circumstances! Especially when Jules is threatened by another reaper and forced to take drastic action…. A great cliffhanger!

This is an interesting twist on a Reaper's life; Jules' life to be exact. This is a woman who had given up all to save her loved one and in return she made a deal, not with the devil but with a Reaper.
I really liked this story, the twist of Jules' Reaper powers, the steam of the 3 men who work at the hospital with her, her past and present clashing together to bring us the character that we learn to hate AND the end, I mean OMG....... There is this one scene and you were like "Yeah, give it to him" and then in another scene you were like "Oooo, yeah this is what Jules needs" and then the end scene, where you are like "WTH!!"

I totally recommend this book and the much anticipated second book.

Great start to the series

This is the first in a new series from Lacey Carter Andersen. There is a prequel novella, Unlikely Reaper, which is worth a read as it sets the relationships and backgrounds of the four main characters. Jules is a reaper working in a hospital, who uses her power to save as many patients as she reaps. This is apparently upsetting the natural balance, so is causing her issues. Her colleagues and neighbours are a fallen God, a wolf shifter and a vampire, all og whom have their own share of supernatural troubles brewing as well. The characters work well together, and the antagonist is wonderfully loathsome! It's the first of a series, so you know there's a cliffhanger coming, but oh, boy! Can't wait to see what happens next!

A suspenseful start

Jules, a recently turned reaper, is starting to settle in to her job at the hospital while trying her hardest to avoid Ajax, Brad, and Connor, three men who work there as well. As the story progresses a meting is called with the council, the secrets she’s keeping draw out too many emotions, and a new player in town draws the wrong type of attention. Lacey Carter Andersen’s Reaper Hospital: Code Possessive Boss is a suspenseful start to her Their Reaper reverse harem romance read. This book lays more groundwork for their budding relationship and delves further into building the creatures that inhabit this world.

I read this book with my Kindle Unlimited subscription and I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

There is a prequel to this book called Their Reaper that I would recommend reading before diving into this book.
You don't have to, but it explains a lot of things that will make this more understandable.

Jules never pictured herself as a Reaper, but it was a choice she made.
A choice that she uses to help heal rather than just collecting souls.
Those decisions have consequences.

Jules has three men in her harem.
Ajax, Conner, and Brad.
Each brings a different trait to the dynamic and their relationship with Jules.

Be prepared for a whammy of a cliffhanger.
All the good books always end with them.

Definitely enjoying the series.
Can't wait to see what happens next.
