This is an alternate cover edition for ASIN B08F323CMX
The Phoenix has Risen. Things are getting hot.
The quint is aligned and as much as I hoped life would simplify once the five of us mated... it's a big 'Hells No' on that.
Don't get me wrong, the guys are great, with me, with each other. Sexy sparks are flying in every direction and having a front-row seat is enough to ignite me into flames—even if I wasn't a mythical firebird.
Now we need to get ahead of the chaos coming at us. Open the portal. Unite the realms. Everyone lives happily-ever-after.
But not everyone is as on board as they pretend. Who do we trust? Who's working against us? As we get closer to our goal, the opposing forces level up their attempts to keep us from fulfilling our destiny. Is it the Council? The Black Knight? Someone in the upper levels of the Fae Concealment Office? Whoever it is, they must be stopped before someone I love gets killed.
* This is book four in a steamy reverse harem paranormal romance series. Expect sexy polyamorous situations (mmmfm), rollicking action, ongoing storylines, and shifter lovers who find what they need from not only their queen but each other as well. Med-burn, med angst, vivid sexual content, and language.*
4.7 stars. Ok. So a lot of my suspicions were wrong. But. Everything that happened in this book was beautiful. I am really enjoying the stride they’re all taking to cement their mating. It was all really sexy and really sweet. I wish we got more of the aggression and kink involved when Calli is also there, but I’m hoping we get that in the last book.
All the danger and twists and turns are really exciting and I can’t wait to see how everything pans out. I just hope it’s as glorious and fantastically exciting as I imagine it will be.
Great job, amazing story. It’s a fast paced, adventure with plenty of steam. I really enjoyed watching the characters grow and truly step into their individual roles. I also love how the group dynamic shifts as they learn to love and trust one another.
Ok, so this one was a bit cringe, so that’s why the rating is lower than the other books. I really liked the chemistry between all the guys tho. The relationship between the guys in general was amazing.
I still stand by the fact that the guys should runaway together jeje. They were just freaking fire. Not only the smeggsy scenes but their emotional connection was chefs kiss.
I enjoyed the guys a lot. Calli was ok. Like idk, she ain’t that much now but I still think she cool.
This was not bad. The only thing that bothered me was that it was very cringe at some parts, and sometimes the plot got turned or deflected because they were having sex. I was just a bit like ehhh 😐🤨. But anyways it was not bad.
I hope they give the next book a good conclusion and it isn’t as cringe, in some parts, as this jeje. Bye bye!
This series is fantastic. The story is well written and has kept me engaged in the 1st 4 books. The characters are different from each other, yet they work well as a unit. I am really looking forward to the final book in the series.
3.75⭐️’s - the pace seems a bit off with this book. To me it feels like: - let’s wait to do something cool - let’s wait more but throw angsty bits that aren’t angsty because those issues seemed 75% resolved 5 chapters ago. - let’s plan and wait more - do the damn thing half cocked - flee and wait more bc nothing happened when trying to take action - wait more and fill time with finding out what to do next - and wait - and wait - “oh! Is something happening?!” - no - FML
Explosive, engaging, tear-jerking, hormone inflaming, fantastical reading! Ladies brings her love and passion to life in these books, and I find myself wanting her to write faster!!! Her char get development is amazing, and her ability to paint her ideas into the minds of her readers is astounding! A rousing success, and a wonderfully wanton read.
The story moved quite quickly in this book. Relationships that hadn’t quite settled we sorted, villains were uncovered. Looking forward to the last book.
But it was between all the sex scenes. Lots and lots of sex. mm, fm, mfm, mmf and finally mmmfm. Lots of kink too (but not strong or detailed bdsm). In fact the first sex scene starts in the first paragraph.
this series is amazing. i am up all night trying to see what is going to happen next. if you think you might not never been interest in having a dom. wait till you meet hawk OMG
I almost gave up with the series following this instalment. As it was I skimmed a lot and was grateful for once that the story is still told at a breakneck speed. The audacity of this series being so expensive for what you get is shocking to me. This instalment we see our primary character become a secondary character at best and focus on a different love story. One of the nicest characters becomes a violent brat. The language that these grown men use is that of a teenage girl and is starting to grate. I don't like leaving things unfinished so I'm sure I'll skim read the last book. Overall it's just so disappointing to have a good story idea, an author with talent and likeable characters and have it thrown away whilst the writer churns out book after book with little care and attention.
I have no idea what's going on now in this story. None. Don't get it. And Callie is boring as hell. But wow the men are very dynamic and I cannot get enough of their scenes together without that clueless, whiny female. I skim through her stuff to get to them. I will definitely finish the series. Sort of.
Kills me that I can't give this five stars. It's a very good story, characters are great, the world building is great, the plot is very interesting and unique. Sometimes the writing really throws off the story. Characters suddenly don't sound like themselves, doesn't make sense? I don't know I really just wish I could give these five stars.
Wow from page one the heat start building. This book is very, very frisky. The story continues with the quint working out who their opponent is. They need to be faster!
Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.
So I am going to start off with some series news, J.L. Madore, the author of the Guardians of the Phoenix series has decided to change the series name so Guardians of the Phoenix is now Guardians of the Realms. The reason behind this is because Callie's story has been received so well she is extending the series by following another female main character and her harem in the same world. I couldn't be happier about this update, this series has quickly become one of my favorites. However, I think I will still call it Guardians of the Phoenix because it relates to Callie but call the overall series Guardians of the Realms because that just feels better to me.
There isn't really much I can say, if you read the first three books of the series then you know how great they were and Hawk's Heart doesn't disappoint. It's an excellent continuation of the series and is just as fantastic as the previous books.
Callie is still her sassy, powerful self but she has grown a lot. Callie is working on the mating bonds, she is training her butt off and she is taking the role of the phoenix much more seriously. She is still highly commented to her mates and is delving deep into her wilding side. The guys are working on their mate bonds with each other but it has always been Hawk who is the most cut off from his emotions and relationships. Sure he made progress in Bear's Strength but he still had some work to do and this book focuses a lot on Hawk. There was a lot of darkness in Hawk's past and now with the quint he is starting to open up, to work on his feelings and he has made great leaps in that department. Also, more about his past is revealed and helps gives insight into who the man Hawk became before he met his mates.
The group dynamic is great, there is so much caring and love between them. Of course, things aren't perfect but they work on them and I just love the affection they show each other and the trouble this crazy group gets into, especially when they have been drinking. They are all mates so to see the different dynamics that have with each other to see their different sides is great. The sex scenes are even more crazy and hot, and there are quite a few of them and I'm not mad about it. They are a mating group so of course there is m/m but there is a lot more of it this time around because the guys don't just center on Callie, they all have relationships to work on and develop.
I like a steamy book when it comes to a reverse harem but the best thing about this series is that yes there is a lot of steam (and I love it) but it's also a really fun and entertaining story that holds my interest with great ease. Trying to figure out who is the Black Knight and what the heck is happening in Hawk's company, seeing Callie develop as the legendary Phoenix and progress in her powers, and trying to imagine what shit-storm Callie and the group is gonna be hit with next and with all of the laughable moments is all entertaining and the story flowed smoothly which made for an easy read.
Overall Hawk's Heart was a fantastic story that had me guessing, laughing, and completely memorized, I finished it in one day. The story continues to entertain me and it's so sad that I only have one more book with Callie and the guys. Jaguar's Passion is the final book in Callie's story and I am gonna miss these characters but it was great while it lasted and I am dying to see how it's gonna end.
Shifters, Fae & Magi/RH MMMM/Enemies to Lovers & Mate bonds
SYNOPSIS (of 5 Book Series): This series is set in the modern world but where the supernaturals hide from the humans. There are 5 Books in this series but it is part of a longer underlying story arc with the first 5 books intended as a self contained story. Years ago there was a civil war in Stonehaven (the Fae world) and fae escaped to the human world before all the portals between the two worlds were closed. There is a prophecy that when the time is right a phoenix will be born with shifter mates from each species (wolf, bear, hawk & jaguar) who will open the gate and reunite the two worlds. This 5 Book series covers a human (Callie) becoming the Phoenix, meeting her mates and their struggle to open the gate against opposition and attempts to stop them. There is a HEA for this group but Book 5 sets up the basis for the next series in the larger story arc.
These books are well written on the whole and well edited. The overuse of the word “Gawd” instead of God got on my nerves a bit though! The heroine is likeable and ballsy but the author, in my view, seems to go over the top in describing her as white trash which label she never really seems to overcome. The MCs are all strong and individual and there is a good amount of world, character and relationship building which means that the story flows organically. There are also some great humorous moments. However, take this as a warning (more detail below) Book 5 (if you get that far) leaves you with multiple unanswered questions and a let down of a climax.
On the sex side, the sex scenes are very hot and better written than a lot of these scenes usually are. There’s a fair amount of MM sex and the amount of sex scenes seem to ramp up as the books go on, especially in books 4 & 5 where I felt there were just too many and ended up padding the books out and sidetracking the story.
I was rating these books as 4 stars up until book 5 which makes me want to revisit my ratings but I won’t. The reason is that the build up was good with a lot of drama and things happening to keep your interest and the plot was constantly moving and developing. That led to a lot of questions and open issues which I expected to be dealt with by the end of Book 5. Unfortunately that was not the case. That, for me, ended up impacting my enjoyment of the series as a whole. After wading through 5 books you expect a strong climax and answers to outstanding questions. That did not happen.
You find out who the Black Knight is in Book 4 but he does not make an appearance until almost the end of Book 5 where he appears briefly and then is gone in a handful of pages. It’s an incredible let down. You don’t get any answers to why he did what he did, where he got his magic, what happened to his other son or why he held fae captive. You don’t find out who was behind all the assassination attempts on the quint or the attacks on Kotah. It was as though an attack or event would happen and then the quint would move on and never bother to discover who was behind it, how the Black Knight always knew where they were or how he managed to do the things he did i.e. the poisoning. For me it was very lazy writing. It was as though the author wanted to throw in all this drama and create tension but couldn’t be bothered to then explain how everything came about. Finally, what on earth was that all about Adahey and Raven? No answers to that either.
In a nutshell, well written and developed , could have been a great series but incredibly disappointing climax. I won’t be continuing with the series as it is just too frustrating.
This is definitely making it’s way to the top 3 PolyA RH series I’ve read; like the only other series that has this level of emotional depth, character development, intertwining mate bonds & relationships (that center but are also separate from the heroine) is Auryn Hadley’s The Demon’s Muse series, which is my favorite. This ranks right up there. I am LOVING the way the bonds are solidifying, I freakin revel in the mistakes that lead to Grade A groveling — Hawk? Crying? About-fucking-time. And it couldn’t have been for a better reason or to a better person.
I hated him at first, now, I finally see his place with them and he has been knocked down enough pegs that I actually like him, in all his kinky, broody, alpha-assholeness because underneath all of that is a very broken, very lost, unloved and insecure man desperate for his found family to accept and love him. And they do. Despite his mistakes and pushing them away and the bullshit he pulled in the first book they love him so damn much. This was absolutely his book and his time to shine and I think it’s actually my favorite out of the series so far.
Jaxx continues to be the sexy, seductive, fun and flirty passionate rock for everyone. The scenes with Jaxx & Hawk? 🥵 Kotah really struggles but blossoms even further; the tenderness he brings is unparalleled. Everyone needs a nerdy, soft, loyal and loving omega-empath like him on their side. Brant finally joins team Hawk and that was freakin 🔥 too. I love the developments both intimate and work/mission wise, they mesh together in ways I never would’ve thought possible from the first books.
Also, I really like that Mama continues to be a fairly big character. One thing I find most RH books lacking is supporting characters; it’s always the h & her H vs the world. Sometimes you get a best friend or two but it’s rare to have a full supporting cast like this series does. Riley, Lukas, Doc, Keyla & Adehy, Mama & John… everyone has *someone* at their back before they all come together and they don’t get thrown away for the relationship. It’s rare and I just really appreciate this author’s mind and storytelling.
I am *a little* disappointed that Jayne isn’t a bad guy and she doesn’t get fireblasted. Even under the spell and fearing for her fathers life, I hate her to my bones. Every time she calls Calli a lunatic or psycho I want someone to snap her like a twig.

My rating system * Didn't finish, would not recommend ** Finished book, but would not continue to read series or author *** Enjoyed book, will read more by same author **** Highly enjoyed, addictive read can't wait to get to next one ***** Phenomenal book, usually only given 1-2 a year.
This series was between a 3 and a 4. The storyline was excellent, I downloaded the next book immediately. The author did an excellent job of giving the five main characters differing personalities. It's never made sense to me that other RH have all male alphas, or that a polyamorous group of 3-4 males and one female would consist of only M/F sex. That being said I was disappointed that five such diverse personalities had nearly identical voices that I frequently could not tell whose POV I was reading. Same catch phrases, same overly emotional inner monologue

The quint has bonded. Everyone is mated. But life has not gotten any easier. The Black Knight, the Council, the Upper Fae, and Kotah’s mother are all causing problems. At least they have each other and a few trusted friends. The rest they will need to sort out. Hawk can’t believe the direction his life has taken. He was certain ruling the corporate world was his calling; now he understands it is only a means to keep his loved ones safe. With the help of his trusted guardian, he is determined they will all get their HEA.
My favorite of the series so far. Who would have thought Hawk would get such a great redemption arc? We knew he had to redeem himself but I never expected him to fall in love with Jaxx and become so protective of Kotah. He was a delight.
I Really loved this story line and I'm glad it's being stretched for jaxx story . But my God is this book rude. First chp and jaxx and hawk are having very explicit fun. It doesn't bother me the way it's put together but this book is certainly not for the faint hearted. They all finally mate and she becomes a fully pledged Phoenix South war on her hands. Loved this book.
Wow what a book!!! Finally Calli and her guys are all aligned. The climax to this book was heart wrenching. Poor Hawk he was put through the ringer on this one. Calli is right there is a reason the most powerful wildlings were put together in this quint. It’s not over by a long shot. The black knight will get his come upon soon. Oh and the sexy scenes WOW STEAMY!!!
This is a really standard medium burn reverse harem shifter female heroine type story with 4 mates with a full circle (aka M/M & F/M).
Great story, great sex scenes, great all around writing. It really absorbs you into the story right from the start and it's easily addicting.
Not too sure if there will be a HEA for this quaint or not. Book 5 is the farthest this series is out currently and I believe book 6 will shift over to Katoa's sister as the main heroine. Sadly.
This was a good addition to the series, and a lot of exciting, thrilling things happened. It kept me hooked and tearing through the pages (or minutes of the audio book) from start to finish. But I am more than ready for the conclusion. I feel like all the parts have aligned and it’s time. I look forward to the last book and hopefully the continued fantastic narration I got here and have been getting since book one.
I’m so bought in! Wow the way these are written just suck you in 100%. I’m off to read book 5 and I want to slow down and savor but I want to know what is next. Can’t wait to continue the stories but just the way that they are written with both the the adventure the suspense the the fight and the relationships are just fantastic like one of the best in this genre I’ve read.
Hawk's Heart was another fantastic addition to the series! Everytime I want to read them as fast as I can to see what's coming next because the books are so dang addicting, but at the same time, I never want the books to end because the books are so dang addicting!
The 5 are really becoming a team, but there is always something getting in there way. Hawk gets a surprise and they find out who the black Knight is. They know what they are dealing with by the end of this book and start formulating a plan. How they find time for all the sexy time, I don't know, but they do and it's all very hot!!!
So much hotness in this edition of saving the fae realm. Disaster strikes hard for our favorite quint, and comes at them from all sides. Plots to overthrow, assassination attempts, among other wrenches thrown in, all to stop their destiny. Will Hawk break down his barriers? Will Calli complete her transformation in time? I can’t wait to see what comes next!
This story continues to grow better and better. The chemistry between Cali and her men is tangible and the action they see is wild. There is a ton of steam to this book with all the characters but its not the whole of the story. The plot ends on a nice cliffhanger of sorts but it definitely hints at an end to come.
Wow just wow! This book was so good I could not put it down! I loved everything about it. Hawk just totally blew me away. He has come a long way since book one. The title of Hawk's Heart, was right on the money on this one. I can't wait to read the last book in this series!
I’m glad we finally get some answers about Hawk’s history. Actually we get more answers about the whole story and mystery of who’s trying to stop the group from opening the gate. Everyone has finally stepped into their roles.
I don’t remember Brant and Jaxx doing the do to complete the quint. Either way, a total group scene finally happens!!
Oh Hawk, I knew there was a soft gooey center to you. Lots of changes and dangers in this book. They finally figure out who is the Black Knight but not how to defeat him. The heat is definitely on in more ways than one!
I have had a love-hate relationship with this man. When he was all pure asshole in my head I pictured him as Julian McMahon from Charmed. With his new persona I’m having trouble picturing him. I’m both anticipating Jaxx’s book and dreading it because that will be the end.
