When Chloe was seventeen, she wished she belonged to the man in the poster on her bedroom wall. Taylor Kerrigan. Lead guitarist of the debauched band Venery. Tattooed rock god with a bad-boy smirk. Reputed sexual deviant.
And a puppy.
Make a wish, Chloe.
But Chloe isn’t seventeen anymore, and now the only thing she wishes for is to be loved by the man right here in front of her. Jesse Nolan. Former football player. Soft-spoken bartender with the purest heart, eyes she could drown in, and a smile she wishes was only for her. Maybe it is.
And a puppy.
Make a wish, Chloe.
She kept the poster of the bad-boy rock star, but she left her girlhood fantasy behind when she packed up her life for college. The city. She thought she was ready for whatever awaited her here. She wasn’t.
New friends. New family. New loves. New dreams.
Make a wish, Chloe.
…because sometimes they come true.
And sometimes you get more than you ever wished for.
Dyan Layne is a nurse boss by day and the writer of edgy sensual tales by night—and on weekends. She's never without her Kindle, and can usually be found tapping away at her keyboard with a hot latte and a cold Dasani Lime--and sometimes champagne. She can't sing a note, but often answers in song because isn't there a song for just about everything? Born and raised a Chicago girl, she currently lives in Tampa, Florida, and is the mother of four handsome sons and a beautiful daughter, who are all grown up now, but can still make her crazy--and she loves it that way! Because normal is just so boring.
Can you be in love with two people, because Jesse Nolan is? In love with his long-term lover, rock god Taylor Kerrigan and sweet and saucy Chloe Bennett. And it may all be a dream, but Jesse is convinced that three of them could give it a real go if the other two would just fall in line…
"No. I love you more because I love her. And I love her more because I love you. Just imagine how big and beautiful our love will be with the three of us together."
Affinity begins with many half-truths and secrets. But what is doesn't lack is raw emotion, misgivings and the desire to be loved. And it isn’t long before just waiting and wanting is not enough. And damn is it hot, hot, hot!
Jesse and Taylor have been in a casual relationship for years. Although Taylor has a touring schedule that keeps them apart, they've remained the epicentre for one another. Yet both being bisexual comes with its own stigma. It also doesn’t change their wish to find the right woman to complete them. Except neither of them really imagined that one existed except Jesse. He’s the ultimate dreamer who’s never stopped believing.
"All love is beautiful. It shouldn’t ever have to be kept secret and hidden like a dirty thing, but trust me, society doesn’t see it that way."
Chloe hides her humility behind sassiness. The harmless flirtation she’s had with her boss Jesse, was just play. But she was blindsided because Jesse had been biding his time to follow through. And since the time is now, she is in no way prepared for his grand seduction or package deal that includes Taylor.
"When they made love, she was his little rose. When they fucked she was his baby girl. Their baby girl. She loved his cock. Could she love two?"
The ultimate test is whether Taylor and Chloe can learn to love each other. Because this arrangement will no longer be a pipe dream if they can. There are stories written about ménages that are there to fulfil a reader’s fantasy, and then there are books like Affinity. A romance that is not a tryst, but a lifestyle between consenting adults who have the capacity to love more then one person. It sends a very real sex positive message, which I believe is the authors aim and accomplishment.
It’s more of a 2.5-3 ⭐️ for me. It was a little disappointing that Jesse was fooling around with Chloe while fucking Taylor on the side. Ugh. I’m not against the cheating troupe but I wished Jesse was upfront and honest first before he had committed to Chloe so much. I did love the natural progression of their relationship and how Taylor came to join. Another annoyance however was the amount of Lin scenes I encountered. She had book 1 for a reason.
Affinity is the second book in the standalone The Red Door series, and I can not say this with enough conviction, IT WAS SO DAMN GOOD.
Following Chloe, Jesse, and Taylor as they navigate life is an adventure I’d want to take over and over again. Primarily, my genre is dark romance. Read enough of it and you become a bit desensitized. You start to lose appreciation for the romance books that just give you full blown lust and declarations of love. Affinity is exactly that book. The love between these three characters are visceral.
“When you love someone, it’s all about being as close to their soul as you can be, isn’t it?”
While Chloe and Jesse begin to fall for one another, there’s a key element that Jesse has not yet revealed. And by key element I mean long time boyfriend Taylor. But Jesse, if anything, is a romantic at heart. He’s pure and naively blissful when it comes to the people he cares for and he deeply cares for Taylor and Chloe.
“And nothing is more beautiful to me than you, Riosin.”
While Jesse is positive they can make a polyamorous relationship work Taylor isn’t so sure. He doesn’t trust that Chloe will accept them as they are and above all else he doesn’t believe she could ever love him. The pain of the past and the fact he’s part of band that even Chloe listened to when she was younger, makes him weary.
“Loving Chloe strengthened his love for Jesse, complimented it. How fucking lucky was he to have something so wonderful and rare and special as the love they had together?”
In a read that showcases not only the strength but the power of love, Dyan gives us a weekend binge read that will stay with you long after the last page. Tears, passion, old wounds and healing, Affinity is a shining example of the age old saying ‘“Different doesn’t mean wrong.”
Five Stars for Dyan’s latest release.
“Because sometimes you get more than you ever wished for, and a love so much bigger and so much better than you even dreamed of.”
Have you ever read a book that may change your perspective of how you see things? Affinity did that for me, it open my mind to possibilities I hadn't consider before, it took me for a wild ride and served me as a reminder that loves comes in different ways.
ABSOLUTELY PERFECTION!! This is what this book is.
Sometimes wishes do come true, but sometimes those wishes may become something else, something more. Jesse, Taylor and Chloe's story is a wish in the making. Puzzle pieces that fit so well together, their love is something unique and unpredictable.
This book is full of passion, understanding, acceptance and love. I really don't want to give too many spoilers but I can just say this is a MUST read and I think one of the best of this year.
Ps:if you loved Serenity (book 1 in the Red Door series) then you'll love Affinity and some of the events in this books are interconnected so if you haven't read book 1 , I strongly recommend you do asap.
Affinity was a beautiful and unique story of a tantalizing trio finding love with each other. Chloe is a young girl trying to make it on her own in this challenging world. Jesse and Taylor have had a very pleasurable relationship for many years. It is a satisfying and loving relationship, but the want more. This story was so beautifully written, it touches on subjects that some might not understand, but Dyan Layne has given a spectacular representation of a poly relationship. Heartwarming and sensational!
DNF. I tried, I really did, but I gave up around 65% because I found myself prioritising doing the washing up rather than picking Affinity up and reading any further. It's clear that the author has taken for granted that everyone has read her first book and knows it back to front and inside out. So the exposition is not great because there's a LOT of times where Dyan Layne assumes a level of knowledge from her readers, which you just can't do if you don't want to be sloppy or arrogant, and recycling scenes from your first book is just lazy writing to me. And it didn't even help provide meaningful or useful recapping. Just read like the author couldn't think of new material. Sorry.
Also, I think I've hit on why I struggle with Dyan Layne's books, even though I was originally excited for the concept: it's her characters. They're SO tedious. The women are so shallow and vapid and empty headed that it reeks of internalised misogyny on the author's part, and the men, who are meant to be these sexy, intriguing book boyfriends, come off as a bunch of tossers I wouldn't bother speaking with at a party.
And sex scenes are not a short cut to meaningful character relationship development. They're supposed to illustrate the point, and highlight and enhance the feels. They're not supposed to be the only thing brought to the table.
Polyamory is a topic that needs to be sensitively addressed more in romance, but this ain't it because all of the characters, who swing between being yawn-worthy and trite stereotypes and mind bogglingly stupid beyond any reasonable suspension of disbelief, just let it down. This is so disappointing. If this had been placed in the hands of a more competent writer, it could have been so much more than this lame, unprofessional offering.
Sorry to say I won't be bothering with any more Dyan Layne books. I gave her two chances. I'm done. If I never read a word about Linnea again it'll be too soon.

Yikes, this is one wild ride for sure! Chloe is a romantic at heart and wants the typical dream of a house with the fence and dog, etc. As a young girl she has hearts in her eyes as she longingly gazes at the posters hanging in her room with her crush, rockstar Tyler Kerrigan.
After a breakup, Chloe falls hard for her boss Jesse. She finds out that he has always had feeling for her too. These two are electric and their relationship is full steam ahead! Of course, there is always a shoe that needs to be dropped and dropped it is! Chloe finds out that Jesse has been in a long term relationship and wants to have a three way relationship with her and him. Yes, I said him. A dude. Needless to say Chloe is shocked and yet intrigued at the same time. Only when she finds out who the person is Chloe does not have words. It's like all her childhood fantasies rolled into one! Watching these three navigate the waters of a polyamorous relationship was page turning for sure!
This book was a great read, held my attention and was super hot!!! I may or may have not had a cigarette after some of these scenes!!! I definitely recommend this for a steamy read. You will not be disappointed.
I struggled with this one, it just didn't do much for me. I'm insanely curious about Dillan, what will happen with him, I bet the one sentence at the end of this book makes brendan the next one, meanwhile poor dillan is over there all lovesick. aside from that I just couldn't keep interest in this series, I wish I was, I'm just not. I struggled with the lies and hiding relationships, then when it did come out, the "love" felt forced, after a few hot scenes all the sudden everyone loved everyone and things were great..it was all sex, (which i skipped over) and no getting to know people. I feel like poly relationships and all that are more work than what this book portrayed.
*update* I did skip ahead of the reviews of the next few books and now I know what happens, I may skip the next book and go to dillans book just to see, but I already know the sad and then the eventual happy..so I think im good on stopping here.
Are you in the mood for a nuclear hot read? Check out Affinity (Red Door #2) by Dyan Layne. Affinity is the second installment in the Red Door series of interconnected standalones. I would recommend reading Serenity (Red Door #1) to understand the character’s background and relationships. This unconventional love story is about Chloe, Jessie, and Taylor, who we met in Serenity. Jessie is dating Chloe, and she learns about his longterm relationship with Taylor. Will Chloe also fall for Taylor, the hot rock star who once adorned a huge poster on her wall? I’ll just say this story is smutastic.
Where do i start... firstly i'm not a huge fan of m\m\f and polyamorous books, but i was intrigued by the blurb on this one. Chloe has always dreamt of a future with the typical romantic ending, love, kids and home with the white picket fence and a puppy, sometimes even dreaming the fantasy of it being Tyler Kerrigan, the Rockstar of her teenage crush. Now it all feels like a dream that won't happen due to breaking up with her long term boyfriend and she's definitely not getting any younger!! She always had a super relationship with her boss Jesse and loves working with him, now that she's single he doesn't waste time in letting her know he wants her and a relationship with her !! The feelings between them are high voltage chemistry !! I was swooning right along with Chloe !! But Jesse has some secrets, secrets he not only wants to share with Chloe, but he also wants that same future she has dreamt of for herself and he wants it with her. The love between both Jesse and Chloe was so obvious !! Their relationship was just so perfect. Each and every one of them deserved that happy home they all wanted so much !! Love can really make dreams come true !!! When Jesse reveals his secret, Chloe is beyond shocked, its something that makes her re evaluate everything she's always thought about love, added to the revelations is that Tyler Kerrigan is now also going to be a part of her life !! Can she love two men? Can Tyler love her? She's never been in this type of relationship, but i absolutely adored how these two men, both showed her how love can find its way... I loved this book from beginning to end. I loved that this book was a really beautiful insight to a kind of love that does cross the boundaries most of us aren't always comfortable with. I loved that it made me question my own views, but most of all i loved that these characters, showed how beautiful Love can be. It give depth to the characters both emotionally and mentally, their fears, their trust, their capacity to want each others happiness above their own, their capacity to love without judgment, left me in a happy hazy cloud of romance !! They way they dealt with issues that arose, the predjudice's, the invasions of privacy, they were so strong as a family i was left in awe. This is the first book of this genre i've given 5 stars to, simply because it was about love and falling in love, relationships and although i'm not a fan of m/f/m sex scenes this book was written in a way that even then is was pouring out LOVE !!! Each and every one of them deserved the happy ending and thier journey has restored my faith that Love really can cross all bridges !!!
Addictive, intriguing and all-consuming…. oh my heart! Dyan Layne has done it again, following up the story of Kyan and Linnea in Serenity with the second book in the Red Door Series, Affinity- the beautiful love story of Jesse, Chloe and Taylor. The story follows their heartbreak and passion, while they learn how to love each other, and love amongst those who may not be as open-minded (complicated further by Taylor’s stardom with the band Venery). Dyan has masterfully weaved their story while effortlessly tying it back to her first novel.
Taylor and Jesse have known each other since childhood. Jesse and Chloe have known each other for several years, as they work at the same restaurant/bar. Jesse has loved Taylor for some time, but when he realizes he’s falling in love with Chloe, he knows that Chloe and Taylor would truly love each other as well. Throughout the story, you can feel Jesse’s heart bleed, equally, for both the loves of his life- the belief that, together, they can all three be truly happy. You can also feel the angst with Chloe and her nervousness regarding a polyamory relationship. The dialogue between these characters makes your heart melt, and watching the relationship between Chloe and Taylor develop, right along with Jesse, makes you crave the most beautiful ending possible for these characters.
I have fallen completely in love with this series. The heartache, the STEAM… oh the STEAM…the passion, and the HEA?? Absolutely heart-warming. I want to be in this world. I want to know these characters personally, because the world needs more hearts like theirs.
I HIGHLY recommend Affinity. Although they are stand-alone stories, reading Serenity first will give the reader the best insight to all the characters in the novel… both heroes and heroines, as well as the family as a whole, and the other characters that make their love stories more complicated. Do yourself a favor and read these… both of them. 10 Stars out of 5.
Incredible, Fantastic! Absolutely Amazing! So Much Love & Heart, Dyan Layne is Phenomenal!!
What a story! I had no idea how this was going to play out. How my emotions would be all over the map reading this book. One minute I am laughing then I am crying, crying for the emotional beauty these characters are experiencing. Crying for the cruel world not accepting of their amazing love for one another. And crying for the beauty of their mostly don’t care attitudes and them living their happy best lives.
This book blew me away. I fell hard for Chloe, Jesse and Taylor when I read about them each separately in book one of this Red Door series. Then reading this book only pushed me to love them all harder. I fell for Chloes love for those she cares about and her free spirit. I fell for Jesse’s big heart and how much love he had to give, despite his saddened past, nothing brought him down. His optimism throughout the story was so swoony and beautiful. He conquered all, fought and fell hard for Chloe and Jesse and it was beautiful to read. And Taylor, I fell for his love so hard for Jesse and how he opened his heart to Chloe and cared for them so much. The three of them is wonderful and amazing.
I loved all the characters from the Red Door series returning. I loved seeing what they were up to and how they really all do love one another. Dyan you beautiful, incredible writer. Your head is a wonderful place and the stories that live in there and you put into your books is amazing. This book is soooo filled with love, and steaminess and it is fantastic!!!
Wow I am speechless I honestly have no words for how much I throughly enjoyed “Affinity” this is the second book in the red doors series although “Affinity” is a stand alone I would recommend that you read “Serenity” first due to these stories being inter connected
Dyan Layne has delivered a fantastic story this is a bit different from anything I’ve ever read before this is my first MFM I had no idea what to expect with this type of troupe I found it quite intriguing and really enjoyable it’s defiantly a book I will not be forgetting anytime soon I loved the way the author told this story and I defiantly will be looking out for more books from this author in the future
When chloe was 17 she had a poster of Taylor on her wall the hot guitarist of a rock band she always dreamed of being with him but chloe is no longer a teenager that was just a fantasy or was it? Chloe and Jesse former football player and now bartender is the most amazing kind hearted guy she’ll ever meet as chloe and Jesse start to develop feelings for each other there is one thing Jesse has been keeping from chloe... his long term relationship with his boyfriend Taylor will Jesse,Chloe and Taylor be able to make this three way relationship work between them?
I really enjoyed the dynamic of their relationship I had no way of knowing how their relationship would play it which made it all the the more exciting to read the chemistry in this book between these three characters was off the charts sizzling hot and I can’t recommend this book enough for readers
This story is utterly captivating, uniquely different, and off the charts hot! Affinity is defined as a natural liking or attraction to a person, thing, or idea. Basically it's about personal and emotional connections. Even love in all of it's varied forms. Just because it's different, doesn't make it wrong. This was my first journey behind Dyan Layne's Red Door series and what an amazing experience it was! Artfully written, emotional, and honest, Layne delivered a beautiful unconventional love story between Jesse, Chloe, and Taylor. Often in a way, taking on societies biased opinions and social standards in her own unique way. This is not my usual genre but, I found myself immediately drawn into the story. There were so many positive messages about love, sex, and relationships intricately woven throughout this story that it completely blew me away! Love is love...it is always good...and is uniquely yours to experience in however it may come. This was an absolutely amazing read that I thoroughly enjoyed and would definitely recommend! *I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review *

This book was so good guys. The timeline of events runs alongside the first book in this series so it would be good to read that first (that book is also epic).
This story is about dealing with insecurities, fears, love that can't be contained into the social norms, hope, passion, jealously but mainly just love. Jesse is so full of hope that his dream and wish of being able to be with the two people he loves is so inspiring. His and Taylor's relationship is beautiful, and even though they have a well established relationship and love for each other I loved seeing him navigate his own insecurities and jealousy with Chloe being added to the relationship especially whilst on tour. Chloe has some past demons in terms of relationships and the feeling of just wanting to be enough, which is totally relatable. Love is love and these guys and there story was so much fun to read.
Dyan Layne won me over with Serenity, but she cemented herself in my book world with Affinity. This story, I promise you, is one that you won’t be able to put down.
We’re introduced to what might seem an unconventional relationship. However, Layne writes this trio’s relationship to the extent and detail you can fully understand and appreciate their life. Chloe works for former football star now restaurant owner Jesse. They flirt, they feel, but they remain in control. Until Jesse decides she’s the one that can not only make his life complete, but that she is the missing piece to his unconventional life with a rock star. Now all he has to do is convince his rock star, Taylor, and his girl, Chloe of this realization.
This trio will absolutely cause you to fall in love. This story shows how individuals have to maneuver through life and deal with public sentiment. It is so beautifully written that you’ll have no choice but to root for their HEA!
Where do I even begin? This is one of my top most anticipated reads of 2020... and it's now one of my favorite books of 2020! I adored Serenity for so many reasons and returning to the world of the Red Door had me so excited! The main reason being that this book wasn't going to be a typical love story. Instead of two we have three... Jesse, Chloe, and Taylor. I'll be honest, I haven't read many MMF romance novels. And the ones I have read failed to make me believe in the love and commitment. I wanted that, I was rooting for them right from the start! What I appreciated was the fact that Dyan didn't throw them all together and have it be hearts and roses. Jesse loved Taylor. Jesse loved Chloe, but could Taylor and Chloe love each other? And not just for Jesse? That journey was so genuine! It definitely had my heart tied in knots.
The Red Door and it's sex positive message is something else I appreciate about these books, and especially Affinity. Love is love, it's different for everyone but the way each person experiences it is valid.
No spoilers from me... just read! If you loved Serenity you're going to absolutely adore Affinity!
"When Chloe was seventeen, she wished she belonged to the man in the poster on her bedroom wall. Taylor Kerrigan. Lead guitarist of the debauched band Venery. Tattooed rock god with a bad-boy smirk. Reputed sexual deviant-."
Just to prove it wasn't a fluke, Dyan does it again with 'Affinity'. Taboo reader's are spoilt for choice in the Red Door Series.
Chloe has lingering past insecurities that become evident when Jesse confesses his love for both her and Taylor, a man. She craves to be loved wholly and equally, that she initially feels threatened by the prospect of a polyamory relationship.
"I just don't see where I fit into this picture-."
Hot and steamy romance but with depth. The anticipation of Seth's book is killing me.
Chloe has a dream of her favorite rockstar Tyler with kids and the usual things. She leaves all of it behind when she leaves for college. Her boss Jesse steps in and lets her know he's interested in her when she breaks up with an old boyfriend. Little does she know that Jesse has a secret that will shock her. The trio of Tyler, Chloe and Jesse end up in a relationship that is unconventional but so satisfying for them. A great story with plenty of steam and some heartache along the way.
The thing I love most about these books is the acceptance of any and all positive sexual experiences. I love the unconventional relationship between Chloe, Jesse, and Taylor. This book will have you asking yourself, why not? Love is Love! “The love you share with Jesse and Taylor is right and good and uniquely yours” The love story between these three is beautifully written and stunningly descriptive. This is a Phenomenal Read that I highly Recommend!
If you're looking for something to overheat your kindle and take you for an emotional ride all at the same time... GET THIS BOOK! Better yet, start the series from the beginning! These three kept me entertained, hanging on every word and praying for a way for all of them to get the ending they wanted and needed! I devoured every chapter and wanted more when it was over!
Wow! What a book! Talk about steamy moments! I so loved the chemistry between jesse, Taylor and Chloe! Their chemistry is addictive and I so loved their hea! This is definitely one of those books I’ll remember!
5 STEAMY STARS!! This story is loving and steamy. Chloe, Jessie and Taylor will take you on a sexy emotional train ride you will never forget. This series has been great by this author, if you haven't read it start now.
Affinity was beautifully written. It was even better than I anticipated it would be. The characters were everything I expected they would be. I think Affinity was better than Serenity.
There is no doubt that these are steamy stories, let me assure you if that right now, but the characters are great, the backstories are interesting, and the plot moves along quickly! I love what Jesse, Chloe, and Taylor build together, but my poor Dillon!

Be careful what you wish for…
When Chloe was seventeen, she wished she belonged to the man in the poster on her bedroom wall.

Again, how do I find the words to describe what I just read, Chloe, Jesse and Taylor, there story no matter how raw and sensual and oh so consuming, the blurb did this story absolute justice.
Someone call the fire brigade because this story was hot, someone get me a doctor because my nervous system is shot, someone hose me down because I am so soaked.
Chloe, Jesse and Taylor, Taylor, Jesse and Chloe
Love comes in different ways There love is something unique and unpredictable Sometimes wishes do come true Those wishes become something else, something more The love between these three characters is visceral, full of pure and raw emotion, this book is full of passion, understanding, acceptance and love Different doesn’t mean wrong it’s a romance that is not a tryst, but a lifestyle between consenting adults who have the capacity to love more than one person, it’s about tears, passion, old wounds and healing, it’s about patience and kindness, and what’s in the unknown
From workplace romance, sex clubs, to jealous wannabes, band groupies, scandalous tabloids and relationships, this story is of new beginnings, finding ones self and confronting the past. Every character was delectable, desirable and down right soul piercing. This circle of family and friends is so close and tight nit nothing could break them apart.
Those explicit MM, MF, MFM s€x scenes in and out of the bedroom were downright f@#$ing erotic, dark, naughty, twisted, forbidden, emotional , wrong, intense, captivating, deliciously wicked, dirty, hot, steamy, passionate, possessive, powerful, wet and ferociously wild.
Such a roller coaster of emotions, a page turner, fast paced you literally will not be able to put it down. This author clearly knows how to write, exploring dark and intense themes that will have you saying what the f@#$. Readers will be ensnared from the get go and it will have you coming back for more. And if you thought this author was done, she is not, so hold on as we anticipate what book three will bring us!
