Eva and Rafe's story continues in this emotional, angsty, rockstar romance from the bestselling author of The Rixon Raiders series
Eighteen-year-old Eva Walker knew going on tour with Black Hearts Still Beat would be complicated.
She didn’t expect to find herself torn between two brothers.
One wants her but he walked away before.
The other needs her but she doesn’t understand why.
It’s only time before the truth comes out, and when it does, nothing will be the same for Country’s newest sweetheart and the black-hearted boys of Rock.

Rise: The Interlude is the second installment of Eva and Rafe's story. The concluding book Rule: The Finale is coming soon!

After reading the first book in this series "Rush", and very much enjoying it, I was curious to see what would happen next. I was also a bit hesitant because as always, I fell in love with the side-characters in the previous book. This happens to me all the time and then I have to try and patiently wait to see if they will get their own story. When it comes to this series, I am crushing very hard on Levi (what can I say, I always love the bad guys) and Hudson <3
Even though this story centers around Eva and Rafe... my crushes get plenty of "screentime" as well.
Rafe left Eva to her devices in the previous book. He made the decision to just let her go, because he figured it would be the right choice for everyone involved... especially for Eva and his brother Levi.
But when management decides that "Eva" joining the band on their tour, would be a golden idea, Rafe finds out his decision may have been a rash one. He is still as drawn to her as he was before...
Now they're all stuck together, and feelings won't just be pushed aside. Eva longs to be with Rafe, but for some reason, he just won't give in and she would do anything to find out why... Can he not feel the chemistry between them.
Then there is the matter of Levi taking a great liking to Eva himself, and the fact that Rafe and Eva are lying to him about how they feel about each other.
I am gonna be really honest here and I hope no one will throw rotten tomatoes at me...but I wouldn't have minded Eva being with Levi. I always go for the fucked up ones... At some point in the first book, I actually thought Levi would be Eva's love interest. That is not to say that I don't like Rafe. I just find Levi's character way more interesting. For some reason, I think he needs and deserves it more. I feel so sorry for him...
I like rooting for the underdog and in this case, I really did think Levi was the underdog.
Anyways... we will just have to wait and see where things will go. I do however really hope that Levi will find his soulmate soon...whoever it turns out to be. It is getting painful for me to read about Eva and Rafe, knowing that Levi is hurting....
Just like Eva and Rafe.... I can't help who I fall in love with ;)

Rise continues Eva and Rafe's story. The quiet girl from Tennessee is going on tour with Black Hearts Still Beat. After the Jamesboro County Talent Show, we left Eva and Rafe in a good place, but a quick fling is completely different from being on the road with someone. Both have their demons to battle. Both avoiding the truth.
Eva is a cancer survivor and in Rise we see her coming out of her shell and finding a way to start living again.
Rafe always puts his brother first. He doesn't need Eva clouding his thoughts.
Maybe Country can be good for rock. Maybe Eva can mend more than one heart?
I really enjoyed this. It has rock star quality and a good backstory. The chemistry between Eva and Rafe is what drives the story, but their relationship with his brother is what keeps you guessing.
The first instalment I listened to the audiobook but this was equally as good to read the words.
*I've joined the Blog Tour for book four. My words are my opinion.
"I felt it too. The shift in the air, the hint of things to come. Only I wasn't sure if this tour would be the making of Black Hearts. Or its downfall. And I wasn't sure I wanted to find out."
What the hell in happening in your head, Levi??? Honestly, i can not figure you out!!! You can't be so oblivious, man!!! Yeah, i understand that you are fucked up in the head and that you're used for others to clean up your messes, but still... Arrr... You are making me furious!!!! You are selfish and I think that in a way you are taking emotionally advantage of Rafe and Hunter and Damon... But mostly... Rafe and it's not right!!! Pfff... I just couldn't help myself!!! Now I'm ready to speak about Eva and Rafe, since you know... it's their story!!!
"Things were changing. Eva was changing us. And if we stayed on this road who only knew where we would end up."
Months after Rafe ghosted Eva, they are about to work together on stage on a tour... None of them are very happy about this fact, but Eva needs to take this step for her parents... and maybe for herself too... But it will be so hard to be around Rafe and his intense brother, Levi!!! To be around famous rock stars and to sing her soul out in front of thousands people... But Eva had proved already that she is strong and a fighter and she will manage it really good... Rafe from the other hand, I'm not so sure that he can handle to be around her so much!!!!
"This is your moment to shine, Eva. Do you know how many people would kill to be in your position right now? Don't go out there thinking you don't deserve it; go out there with something to prove."
"I wasn't sure I could do it - keep her at a distance, suppress my feelings for her. Especially not when she was standing there, looking at me like I was everything she wanted. Everything she needed."
Well, in here, we saw a new star rising.... The sweetheart of Country had come to stay and she had charmed everybody... Even Levi... And that is not really a good thing!!! This fact just mess out things even more... Eva wants Rafe... Rafe wants Eva, even though that he is keeping her at arm's length for his own reasons... So Levi, what is he doing??? What is that he wants??? He wants Eva??? But in what way??? God, really he can not be so oblivious!!! Everyone can see that there is something between Rafe and Eva... even though they are not acting upon it!!! Pfff.... I really need the next book!!!
"I couldn't be who she needed and she sure as shit couldn't be who I needed. So here we are; two strangers who knew one another in ways no two strangers should."
"Eva was here to fix what Levi had broken. But as I watched them weave together a note-perfect rendition of one of Levi's most favorite songs ever, I couldn't help but think she might end up fixing more than just his reputation."
For once again, i loved Eva and Rafe... In here, there were both POVs and i couldn't be more happy cause i could understand Rafe a little better than before... Rafe had lot of shits on his plate and all of them had to do with Levi... I think that he was feeling guilty for his brother and he wanted so desperately to be there for him and his crazy act, that he was putting himself behind... He was sacrificing himself for Levi and I didn't like it!!!
"Levi was a cocky motherfucker. The perpetual thorn in my side. But he was also my blood and despite our differences, I loved him something fierce."
"What Eva and I had shared that weekend in Camdena was unlike anything I'd ever experienced. We'd connected. Not only over music but with the pain that lived inside us both... But it was all a fantasy. A dream I could spend my life chasing and never quiet grasp. Let alone make a reality."
Eva from the other hand, she was shining in here and her big heart could do literally miracles... The only thorn in her side was Rafe... Rafe whom she wanted as much as before... But no... In here, she was just a rose, with two thorns in here side... Levi and Rafe... What will happen after all???
"The second our lips touched, I felt it. The comic shift. This wasn't wrong; it wasn't some selfish mistake. It was two souls reuniting."
"I'd felt something with Rafe, not just inside me, but soming from him. A deep-sated need that transcended attraction and lust. I filled something inside him just as he filled a missing piece of me. But I wouldn't push. Not until I had answers."
Well, i really loved many secondary characters in here and mostly the other members of the "Black Hearts Still Beat"... Only for Levi, I'm not so sure... He's confusing me very much and i'm feeling that I have a hate-love relation with him... Also i loved Damon very much with his calm energy and Hunter with his reckless side... I'd love to get stories about all three of them at some point... Also, i still love crazy and impulsive Molly and in here, Letty had grown on me... Can't wait for the third book... I need to see what will happen after all, especially after this ending!!!
"Levi thrived on chaos. On anything to distract him from the memories... the pain... the self-loathing."

Gah! Rise is the second book in the Black Hearts Still Beat series. This novel will surprise you with its depth and intensity. It's one that will have you laughing and crying, swooning and wanting, needing all good things for these characters. It's deep and it's heartfelt. I absolutely loved it!
At the end of Rush, Rafe ghosted Eva, leaving her heartbroken and confused. Now months later, management decides they want Eva to join the band on tour as their opening act. She knows that seeing him again will reopen old wounds, but she agrees because her parents desperately need the money.
Now they're on the road together, and it's obvious the feelings are still there. Eva longs to be with Rafe, but he keeps holding back and she wants to know why. Then to confuse her even more, Levi begins to show interest in her, and she soon finds herself torn between the two.
Overall, I am in love with these characters and their journey thus far. I connected to them on a deep level, and I loved seeing their growth and progression throughout the book. This intense, angsty and heartfelt story is a must read for all lovers of rock star romance. Five stars for Rafe, Eva and Rise!
I loved Rafe and Eva in Rush, and I love them even more in Rise. The chemistry is hot, the angst is strong, and the character relationships are SO intriguing. Rise not only cemented my love of Rafe and Eva, but it also made me fall for Levi, too. I'm giving Rise four strong stars and I simply cannot wait for book three, Rule, to release in April. (Because OMG THAT ENDING?!?!?!)
Eva, the Sweetheart of Country, gives me such strong Taylor Swift vibes, yet she's grittier and darker with sharper edges and a painful past. Her relationship with her parents and her best friend, Molly, was something I LOVED in book one, and those relationships still stand strong in book two. In addition, we have a new friendship in Eva's PA, Letty, and it is PERFECT. I am a sucker for strong female friendships, and LA Cotton has given me TWO with this book. My heart was so happy.
In Rush, we got to know Rafe as mysterious but sweet, romantic but secretive. In Rise, the mystery and secrets are amplified, and we get a heavy dose of Rafe's brooding, unapproachable side before we see the lovesick rockstar we fell for in Rush. Rafe's angst and inner turmoil is INTENSE, and at times it was obvious that he's carrying the world on his shoulders. His struggle with balancing his feelings for Eva and his loyalty to Levi caused my heart to ache for him. He deserves so much happiness, but expects so little, and his pain seeps through every longing stare and broody glare.
Eva and Rafe have intense chemistry, and I was SO HAPPY when they finally got their shit together, but the pseudo-love triangle with Levi complicates everything. Levi is a tortured artist; he has skeletons and pain buried so deep that I couldn't help but feel for him. I want him to find peace and comfort, but I don't want it to happen at the expense of Rafe and Eva's relationship. Needless to say, I was FEELING this angst. LA Cotton did a great job creating layered and complex characters that tugged on my heartstrings.
While I really really enjoyed this book, and I simply CANNOT wait for book three, Rise toed the line between YA and NA for me. The steam scenes are hot, the conflicts are intense, and the character backstories are definitely dark and gritty, but something just felt more young-adult-ish. There was a disconnect between the content, the characters, and the writing style that I struggled with, which kept me from rating this a 5. Otherwise, this book was AWESOME and I'm READY for book three. I need more Rafe and Eva, and I NEED to know how everything plays out with my poor tortured Levi. Four stars and high recommendations!

Goodness I should learn to control myself... I read this baby in one sitting and now I'm having withdrawls. I miss these characters already and I'm craving so much more!!
I seriously CANNOT get enough of all these characters and this story, I'm so glad this is a trilogy so I have three times as much words to read as normal, even though the waiting in between sucks because I honestly could keep on reading about Rafe and Eva and the rest of the band for days on end...really.
I think I've mentioned before but I freaking love rockstar romances that are set while the band goes on tour so this book was already amazing for me for that reason alone but even more so because I love each and everyone of these characters and after Rise, I love them even more now. Getting to watch Eva get up on that stage and sing her heart out, winning over Black Hearts Still Beat's fans and the world.
Learning more about each band member and mostly the Hunter brothers is amazing and at the same time heartbreaking. Levi breaks my heart and although I hate that he only thinks about himself most of the time... his past and every demon he still faces makes me feel so much for him. I just hope he sees what's he doing to the band and seeks real help. He deserves to move on with his life and his brother deserves it too so he can finally let of go and think of himself first, so he can be happy with Eva. Sigh. I want these two to work so bad but not at the cost of the band and Levi and Rafe's relationship. I'm scared but hopeful and so darn ready for more.
I really really hope L. A. plans on writing books for all the other band members because as much as I love Rafe and Eva, my heart really is soft for Levi too and with everything that we learn about him and his past... I want him to find his own Eva and find happiness so his brother can be happy without all the guilt he feels. And of course, gosh I want Damon and Ruby so bad! And to learn all about Hudson and Molly and the episode about his hair. I need to know all the things!
Black Hearts Still Beat series is an amazing rockstar romance about two artists from very different backgrounds that find each other and somehow their pieces fit in all the right places. It's a whole journey of chasing dreams, fighting demons and finding love.

Rise is book 2 in the Black Hearts Still Beat series and picks up right after Rush (Black Hearts Still Beat Book 1) ends. This is the continuation of Eva and Rafe's Story.
Eva joins Rafe and the rest of the band on tour even though things between her and Rafe are not good. Having been completely ignored by him after everything they felt is proving to be confusing and frustrating for Eva but she is trying to set all that aside to continue following her passion and dream of making it in the music industry.
Evs is left feeling conflicted about the way Rafe is handling her being on tour with them as well as the strong attachment his brother Levi seems to have towards her all while trying to navigate the touring life and her friendships with the other band members.
Rafe is such a selfless gentle and kind soul who would do anything for his brother even if that means putting himself and what he wants to the side. The chemistry between Eva and Rafe is undeniable, both love fiercely and their story is full of angst, heartache, frustration but it is also so sweet and addicting.
My heart broke for Levi and everything he struggled with. I just want to hold on to him and never let go
And can we talk about that ending.. I need book 3 asap. I can't wait to see how the story ends in Rule : The Finale
《book aesthetic made by me, I do not own the pictures, all found via pinterest》
This book is so good. The tension between Eva and Rafe from the start is intense and keeps you wanting to read to see what happens between them. L. A. Cotton had me hooked from the start and I seriously can't wait to see what happens next. An absolutely fantastic book
Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.
Holy moly! I seriously didn't think that anything could surpass that first book of this series but this book stole the kingdom of my heart. It kicked down the doors, slaughtered innocent bystanders, and overthrew the monarchy. I'm a bit of a mess and I couldn't be happier about it.
L.A. Cotton is such a gifted storyteller. I don't know how she does it, but she draws me in to her stories like a moth to a flame. Just a little taste of one of her stories and I am immediately addicting. Her prose flows like a dream. Her narration is always so inviting. I always know that when I read one of her books that I am going to get top-notch storytelling. The plot of this story was so much more intense than the last. I am always so impressed with the way that she plots her stories and this one was no exception. All the drama in this book hits you right in the feels.
These characters are just everything. I gave my heart away to these characters in the first book and they only ingrained themselves deeper into my heart in this one. I love how easy it is to connect with these characters. Each character, even the secondary characters, have their own distinct personality that I find so refreshing. When you are reading this book you really do fall in love with each and every one of them. I am enamored with this cast of secondary characters and I only hope that Cotton decides to give us their stories as well as Rafe and Eva's. I really loved how Eva and Rafe's characters progressed in this book.
The romance in this story is so heartwarming and tragic at the same time. It's hard to get into without going into spoiler territory, but let me just say that their love story is one that you want to root for. They are so perfect for each other and they have such a beautiful and deep connection. Tensions were high at the end of this book and I am eager to see where this romance goes.
Overall, this story gave me everything I wanted and more. I am so floored with this book and this series has fast become a favorite. This is a series that I know I will revisit in the future. The characters and the story just stay with you long after you've turned the last page. I really hope that L.A. Cotton decides to write more rockstar romance novels because this series is just amazing!
“But we weren’t just Rafe and Eva. We were Eva and Black Hearts Still Beat. We were Eva and Rafe... and Levi. And nothing about that was simple.”
This story picks up right where book 1 left us. And this one also has me needing more! I love the connection between Eva and all the band members. She has a special relationship with each and they all want to protect her as she is new to the music industry and fame.
Her deeper connection with Rafe and his brother Levi unfold more as they all learn about each others past. Her heart belongs to Rafe however Levi needs her in his own way. Will Eva be able to help the brothers or will everyone end up hurt?
After waiting all this time for book 2, and even knowing that there were 3 books in this series, I am now stuck trying to figure out how I am going to last until the next book comes out.
Wow, that was a trip! The emotions, the angst. Just wow. I'll admit I was nervous about this book. After reading the blurb I wasn't sure if I was going to come out happy. Don't get me wrong, I knew who's story this was, I just wasn't sure I'd be happy with the cliffhanger outcome. Now though, through all the emotional mess I can say I am. I know that they still have a road, and a few obstacles, to get over but I know it will be okay.
Levi is gonna be an interesting character. After learning the basics of his story (and his full name... dang) I can see why he has a mountain of baggage. I definitely want his book now (I need to meet his match)!
Rafe is such an amazing guy. I admit after he ghosted Eva I had a hard time liking him at the beginning but I knew he eventually would come around. Did I like how he kept running? No. But in a sense I understood. The need for space and air was strong with these three. I understood why he always put his brother first. But as Molly tried to explain, he has hopes and dreams too. Eventually he needs to put himself over Levi. It will probably be hard but his happiness is important too.
Then we have Eva. Sweet, sweet country. Starshine. Angel. She has become family to these boys. It's so obvious. I love how strong she is with all this craziness; how she holds herself up. I'm so glad she has a support system because I don't know if she would be able to do all this without one. She may be confused where Levi is concerned. But deep down I think she knows, I think they all know and just need Levi to realize it himself. I love how she doesn't back down from Rafe's walls. Those two need each other. Their souls have been bound from the beginning and there is no denying that.
Great book. That cliffhanger, gah! Can't wait for book 3!! *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
This is the first book I've read by this author and the first rockstar romance that I've read, let me tell you it's an awesome read.
This book is the second book in this series. Black Hearts Still Beat : BHSB.
Rush: The Beginning: Black Hearts Still Beat #1
Rise: The Interlude: Black Hearts Still Beat #2
Eva’s life has changed so much, so much so that she wasnt actually ready for it at all. Eva goes on tour with the Black Hearts Still Beat and it's all she's ever wanted, the music. However life isn't made any easier especially with the brothers and all the fame, there are curve balls for sure. We see Eva and Rafes journey through this book, however she is feeling completely torn. Why do things have to be so hard ? It shouldn't be this difficult but it is because one brother wants her but actually walked away and the other wants/ needs her and she hasn't got a clue why. Things are changing and they are never going to be the same again. Rafe has got things just as tough and he feels pulled into different directions because of the love he has.
Eva is stuck between two brothers and she hates it, because all she wants is the one she wants, the one she chose. ( NO SPOILERS ).
This book is the second in the series and it is a fantastic read. It had me totally hooked from the beginning it's fabulous and will definitely leave you wanting more.
The author has written these characters awesomely and we see Eva change and become a beautiful young woman and at times I really feel for Eva, but she has alot of courage inside of her.
This book takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions, the love, the tension and the tears and the love between them all is so strong and powerful and you won't be able to put this book down its captivating. I will look forward to reading more from this author in the future and I can't wait to read her earlier books.
I highly recommend that you read the first book in this series first so that you know who everyone is and where you are up to.
Thank You to the author and publishers for allowing me to read an early copy of this book.
ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
This book is expected to be released on 19th February 2020.
I can NOT stop thinking about Rafe & Ava! Cotton's writing makes me want a lifetime of these two! Rise is the 2nd book in the Black Hearts Still Beat series, if you haven't read Rush (book 1) go grab it....because Rise releases February 18th.
If you love Rock star romances, you'll love this one! Except Cotton has added a little twist to this tale. The heroine isn't just some girl in the crowd somewhere that the rockstar fell for...nope, she is a small town girl who competed in a talent contest and quickly became country's newest sweetheart. While participating in the contest, she crosses path with one of the BHSB band members, and all too quickly becomes addicted to everything about him. After she's brought on tour with Black Hearts Still Beat, she quickly becomes an important person to the entire band. While following her dreams she forms relationships with each band member that's sweet, sometimes funny and so heartwarming to read about. It's the relationship between Rafe, Ava and Levi that is the hardest yet also the most magical. To affect someone else's life in a way that changes them is such a joy; but to do that to two people....and for them brothers!!! SERIOUSLY! The angst between these characters is off the charts! You will find yourself rooting for them even more; but what if them ending up together breaks another.
At some points this book touches on some hard life lessons in addition to some sweet moments that are guaranteed to give you ALL THE FEELS! I love reading rock star romances, this one by LA Cotton is definitely going down in my favorites!
LA Cotton never fails to amaze me. She brings it every single time no matter what trope she writes and I am here for it!
Rise is book two in the Black Hearts Still Beat series and I love the world that she has created. The characters are relatable because they aren’t perfect. They make mistakes, they have their demons and they are real.
LA Cotton brings all of the emotions, sexual tension and the angst with Rise and now I’m sat here counting down the days until I can read book 3!
If you haven’t started this epic rockstar series yet then what are you waiting for?
This book starts off with extreme tension as Eva joins the band on tour.
Her character has to come to terms with her rise to fame . Eva is also juggling the quirks of touring with all the guys in the band and the thinks that make them tick.
I see a true change in Eva this book like she has found her purpose.
We see rafe deal with so much confliction that you can't help but feel bad for the guy and the situation he finds himself dealing with.
But let's talk about that ending though chef kiss perfection ..
I love Eva and Rafe. I was so excited for this book! L.A Cotton always gives me the angst, sweetness and emotion I’m looking for.
In Rise, Eva is on tour with Black Hearts Still Beat and she fits in so nicely with the guys. I love her friendship with Hudson, I love how Damon looks out for her, I love how Levi leans on her and how Rafe loves her even if from afar at times.
My heart breaks for Levi and I can’t wait to see how things pan out with him in the next book. I’m almost 100% sure I know who is causing trouble for the guys and Eva and I’m looking forward to that fall out!! Rise was a great addition to Rush. I fell head over heels for Rafe and Eva in book one and their chemistry was still so good in this book! 🖤
Eva and Rafe’s story continues in the 2nd book of the Black Hearts still beat series! Eva, now 18, goes on tour with the 4 rockstars. But how is the air going to be between them? Especially between Eva & Rafe, after leaving her a few months before?! This story is definitely full of angst, drama, love, a lot of chemistry, friendship and jealousy! LA Cotton writes these things down to a T, and you kinda feel it all! Great story again, and the end left me shouting at my kindle! I really want to know how their story continues, and if all the other guys get the girls I’m guessing / hoping for! I kindly received an arc from the author and voluntarily left a review
This book hit the right note with me...totally loved the angst between Eva, Rafe and Levi. I was so immersed in the story and now I need more. Rise: The Interlude by L.A. Cotton is an EPIC read that will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!
My oh my, that was everything brilliant continuation from rush and I really can’t wait for the next one. Rafe and Evas love is amazing. I love the connection between Eva and Levi. Man LA did a brilliant job with this one I’ve always loved her writing and I would have read this one in one long sitting, but sleep and work sorta got in the way. If you haven’t read any of her work yet you should definitely pick up this and rush as well as all her other books they are amazing 😍😍
„This, us, it’s real. Tell me you know it’s real, Rafe.”
LA Cotton took me on a rollercoaster of emotions without a handle. I completely fell in love with Eva and Rafe in Rush, where their short romance filled my heart to the brim. But it was in Rise that I learned the true power of their feeling that has the power both to heal and destroy. This part equally filled my heart with joy and pain. In one moment I was enchanted and satisfied with the turn of events, and in the other I was a sobbing mess. I don't think I've ever wanted a happy ending for all the characters that desperately.
When Eva joins the Black Hearts Still Beat on their tour, her kindness and caring nature quickly made her an important member of the group. She makes her dream come true and bonds with these rockstars. She's the calm to their storm, especially for the reckless Levi, who becomes attached to Eva. But where it leaves the feelings that bloomed between her and Rafe? When the past demons are revealed, they need to tread carefully, because some things are hard to overcome.
But this part of the series shows us also the other side of life in spotlight. How hard it is to keep secrets, to live normally, how everything you do is exposed publicly. And though Eva is a small-town girl, she proved to be stronger than anyone thought. She’s a fighter in every sense, but she also knows when to step back.
This part of the series explained a lot, but also gave me an appetite for more. I need to read more about other members of the group, I desperately want Levi to find happiness, I long for Rafe and Eva’s happily ever after. The ending almost made my heart burst from my chest from joy, but also raised alarm, because I have no clue what it means in the long shot. The uncertainty makes me antsy and I cannot wait for the 3rd book. Rise: The Interlude is an epic rockstar romance and LA Cotton’s storytelling is addicting. I need more!
I read Rush, book one in the Black Hearts Still Beat series, in one sitting and did exactly the same with Rise. Oh my, this is one epic story and I’m anticipating more of the same when Rule releases too. I am desperate to see what happens next!
I was hooked from the very first chapter. I couldn’t have put my kindle down even if I needed to. Everyone in my household had to fend for themselves and I selfishly didn’t care.
Eva is just an incredible person. I adore her. This young woman has this fabulous personality that everyone warms to and I loved seeing her relationship with each of the band members develop. How she coped with being thrusted into the spotlight as she goes on tour with BHSB just proved how strong she is. She does have a weakness through…... Rafe. I honestly don’t blame her either!
Rafe and Eva struggle to fight their feelings for each other, their connection is undeniable. Eva was deliberately brought in to tour with the band to help calm Levi, Rafe’s older brother, and the complications that this brought were more than I could ever have imagined and as we learned the secrets surrounding Rafe and Levi’s childhoods. It is understandable why Rafe has always but his brother first. Rafe is a wonderful person and he’s found himself another admirer in me - that’s for certain.
I urge you to read this series. You will thank me that you did. This is a story filled with love, drama, heartache, friendship and jealousy too. I am so invested in Rafe and Eva that I have physically felt all the emotions throughout both books. LA Cotton is doing an incredible job writing this series, I would love to see each band member have their story penned, and I cannot wait to read the conclusion of Eva and Rafe’s story when Rule releases in April.
The story continues, and it was such the perfect book to follow up Rush. The right amount of drama, angst, and mystery still surround these characters, and you are truly rooting for everyone in their own way.
Eva is now on tour and opening up more and more to the band each day. She understands some of their secrets, but she’s still keeping secrets on her own.
Rafe is trying to do what’s best for his family without thinking of it being unfair to himself and Eva. He is such a protector, and has been since he was a child.
Levi is the perfect addition to this book. His personality changes depending on his mood, and each scene will have you failing in love with him a little more. He is such an important person to Rafe and Eva, and when secrets unfold your heart will break for him.
This is the second book in this series, so make sure you read Rush before reading this one! It ends on a cliffhanger, and I’m so excited to get the conclusion soon.

My mind is still trying to process what just happened and what this means for the future of all! Eva’s life has been thrust into a spotlight she wasn’t ready for but that’s not all she’s put between two brothers when all she wants is one and she has to find a way to navigate this all on her own!
I have so many questions and want ALL the answers but my fragile little heart needs to wait for book 2 and this is going to be torture! If you haven’t met Black Hearts Still Beat you seriously need to start because this band, these brother this story is EVERYTHING! The angst, the emotions, the turmoil is there and it’s real! Each moment is felt, each word has me hanging on the edge wanting more!
Get ready to be sucked in because the tether between Rafe and Eva is palpable and it won’t be denied any longer!
I had the absolute pleasure of getting an advanced copy, and let just say it’s worth the wait.
How to even start; when country meets rock, or in Eva case a ‘rose between two thorns’- how she works around two beautifully damaged brothers, and the world of fame.
It’s everything I expected and more, you feel the pain, the brotherly love, and you understand both boys better; I fell in love with Levi as much as Rafe.
You see Eva grow, you see her shine, and you want her to be there for them both, my heart melted and skipped beats all at once over this book.
But, the ending to this book, well, let’s just say it’s worth the wait in gold, and I can’t wait for the next one.
The first book in this series left me wanting more and now #2 has done the same! I can't wait to see where book #3 takes us now! I say this everytime but L.A Cotton has slayed again with this book! The connection that Eva has with all of the band, but especially Race and Levi, is brilliant and very well written. I have really loved this Black Hearts Still Beat journey so far and I really hope that they all get their own book eventually, as their is so much more to delve into! Especially Levi 🖤 This second installment has all the feels, angst and fabulous characters. It will take you on a journey and leave you wanting more. Be warned though that no adulting will get done when reading this book as you won't be able to put it down! 5 freaking ⭐'s all the way!! 🖤🎸🖤🎸
Wow! Amazing! Incredible! After being hooked with Rush, I didn’t think the story could be any more intriguing. However, Ms. Cotton has raised her limits and surpassed them. Rafe and Eva’s electric combo could not be extinguished, but then you toss in Levi and you have an explosion of epic proportions. This is a raw, indulgent, fast-paced read! This story sucks you into its combustible, abraded emotions and leaves the characters exposed. A book that you will pull an all-nighter for. So, cancel your plans and be ready for a monumental book hangover! I received a free copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
The boys of Black Hearts Still Beat, and the girl Country are back! I was so excited when Rise: The Interlude hit my kindle, I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen between Eva and Rafe, or is it Eva and Levi? After all Eva was brought on the tour to clean up Levi's image in the press. The story is a quick one, that I devoured in no time, it has emotion and angst but I still want more. I'm really enjoying this trilogy, and I can't wait to see how it all plays out in the last book.
Wow my emotions were all over the place in the book. The angsty push & pull from the characters leaves you waiting to see what happens next with bated breath. The ending just made me say wow again. Can't wait for the conclusion.
