Court of Midnight

Rate this book
Betrayed. Kidnapped. Imprisoned.

I always believed my life to be simple—uncomplicated. But now, it’s become more complicated than I ever would have thought possible. Taken hostage by Orion’s elder brother, I come face to face with the most dangerous fate I’ve ever known. Tyr’s betrayal is dangerous not just to me, but to all of Faekind.

A wicked plan. A King blinded by hate. A girl with a secret in her blood.

There are liars and deceivers all around, and if I want to survive to see the end of this Gods-forsaken war, I’m going to have to draw power from the three people who’ve trusted and protected me for the last few months. There has been enough of this senseless death and bloodshed.

If we have any chance of survival, then we’ll need to look for the path of redemption even if it comes from the most unlikely of sources.

Difficult for me to write because I loved this series

Literally built up to her being a princess the whole last book but then NOTHING! Nothing about her being the brightling heir. No further mention of her being royal. I was really disappointed because I really loved this series up until this book. The end seemed so rushed 😞

Okay read

I absolutely hate only ranking this book at 3 stars but honestly I was disappointed. It wasn't the epic last book that I am used to by Scott. First they go back and forth about who she is and act like she's not. The evil brother tells her who she is in the beginning and she acknowledges it but somehow forgets and gets told again at the end like it was never mentioned. Then the epilogue is mainly about the main characters friend instead of her and the guys. So you never get a feel for their future or what it means for her being who she is or them. The heat level was basic and boring. There was too much left unsaid about several things. I loved the fantastic characters and the storyline. It was an amazing series but this last book fell flat for me and was very anticlimactic.

Fantasy/RH

Third and final book of The Twisted Fae Series. Definitely read them in order. This one was just released, it seems I started the series at the exact time, because I would've cried if I had to wait. I didn't review the second book, I couldn't be bothered to stop reading to do that. 🤣 I enjoyed this series immensely, the characters were all so different, the storyline packed with everything you'd want. Action, mystery, suspense, and some sexy AF scenes. I need endless chapters of Cress and her princes. Seriously! The world-bulding was ok, more character driven in my opinion. Fact paced, I wanted more, more, more in the end. Sigh. I still have questions though. Maybe the authors will set up another series in this world. I can only hope. Well, I'm off to see what else these authors have written.

I smashed these books within two days, carve out some time and enjoy!
I definitely recommend to readers who love RH/Fantasy.

Held captive by the King of Amnestia and the fae Prince Tyr, Orion's brother, Cress is scheduled to be executed. The king is blinded by his hatred of the fae and has fallen victim to the evil plans of Tyr who plans to destroy mankind and the fae to set up his own kingdom. It will take Cress, her fae princes, their battalions, a human, and a little help from the past to defeat the dark evil. But light and love will prevail.

For the final book of a series with so much promise, this ending was just okay. It never found its footing like I had hoped. The Crimson Court was such an interesting concept. A movable court ruled by three fae princes from differing courts but bonded by a sense of honor, loyalty to one another, and the hope for a better future. Sure, I took issue from the very beginning over the way they "recharged" their magic. It appeared to me as ridiculous and convenient but other than that, the story was compelling. I liked the evil plan put in place by Tyr and the way he manipulated the king. I liked the revelations and the outcome. However, the pacing seemed flawed. Too much time was spent in the build-up and self-love and then the battle was rushed. There was not enough focus on Cress and the princes and the epilogue didn't focus on them at all. Total disappointment. The epilogue should have been part of the final chapter as well as discovered how the other fae fared. Did Tyr destroy the other courts? Did the land recover? Finally, what happened to the Court of Crimson? Did they settle in Amnestia near Nellie or continue to move? How did Cress's relationship with the princes work out? Was she declared Queen in her own right? Did they have a child? The scene with a human child was one of the best in the book and could have been an omen, but nothing. There were just too many personal loose ends.

Super disappointing conclusion to this trilogy

2.5 ⭐️ (rounded up as I did love the first two)
Once again, I flew through this book, hoping to have all the answers I needed and was hanging out for after loving the first two!

When I started it, I thought this last book in the trilogy would have the 5 star rating I desperately wanted to give it! Expecting epic moments and things to come to light!

But it fell so short for me after the first few chapters, being my least favourite book in the series. The story arc honestly made no sense to me overall.

In the first chapter we literally had the BIGGEST plot reveal of the whole series, and then it was like it NEVER happened! It was only brought up again during the second last chapter of the book and it was a massive let down to me, almost like the first chapters were never reread and brought into the story.

If there was another book to follow, maybe this would’ve been alright but that was the end!

There were so many loose ties and anticlimactic moments. Considering it is RH, I expected the ending to have some discussion about how the harem would work so to speak, but it was all just left up in the air with no closure.

I am so disappointed in this book, feeling like it was just rushed to be put out without any rereads as there was so much information missing.

After the build-up in the first two books, I thought this one would be explosive, but I'm a little dissatisfied. I had expected a major show-down between the Queens and Cress with the way they were portrayed in the previous books, but nothing of the sort happened. They weren't even present in the final battle.

When it came to Cress' magic, it seemed vague. In the case of her identity, everything was so obvious right from the start but it felt like the characters couldn't put two and two together until the villain pointed it out in the end. Even the truth about the human king's successor was too convenient. It felt like the authors wanted to tie up a loose end so they just came up with this.

In terms of romance, I still thought it was lust. I couldn't feel the love. Despite all of this, there were parts I enjoyed, like the beginning of the book. It was intense and unpredictable.

Sorrell's acceptance when it came to his feelings was great. I have loved Orion throughout the series and in this one, I felt even more protective towards him. The smutty parts were delicious! The book also ended on a sweet note with a happily ever after.

Overall, it wasn't a bad book, but I went in with very high expectations, but RH fantasy lovers should definitely give this a try.

I expected much more from the last book in the series, the ending was rushed and the scene where Cress was a prisoner lasted longer than the end of the war. I was so excited to read this book and it just let me down. At least it gave a good part about Sorrel and Cress relationship... This book could have been much longer, Cress newly found powers should have been eloborated, Cress not waking up after Tyr could have been an entire chapter... It felt more like a commercial then a ending to a series.

Great start... great middle... HORRIBLE ending

Loved the start and middle.. MC and her Harem were well written but I felt like the Harem needed a little more. I did not feel them connect at all. I kept waiting for her powers to grow and be a queen everyone said she was.. never happened. They build you up to the final fight for it to be done within two paragraphs she falls asleep and wakes up and it’s over... the end.

Spoilers******
I feel like there could have been a fourth book in the series that expanded on some things that were made to seem significant in the previous books but never really resolved.

For instance, in the second book the h falls into a dangerous forest with Roan and Orion and vicious creatures attack, her body fills up with energy or power, skin lights up, she then blacks out and wakes up back at the castle. Some of the characters are described as making eye contact over her, as though they are privy to something that happened with her powers but then we never find out how she saved everyone. I kept waiting for the storyline to revisit this as one of a few instances where her oncoming powers were starting to emerge and somehow their nature would be revealed. But it never really happened. She so falls off a castle wall from a great height and miraculously doesn't die or suffer grave injury...she has a few other instances where its made clear there is magic at play but it's never revised or explained. Did she fly? Did she make a bubble and float? Did someone else use magic to help her? You never find out.

There are numerous mentions of the Brightling Court, they have a specific type of magic and look etc... we are left to guess and wonder about if she is a member throughout the whole series... then she finds out at the very end of the final book. So we never learn about who new role as a Brightling heir to the throne, her powers, her lost culture (I mean is there a castle? Treasure? Books? etc). Also there are two Queens who are initially described as very powerful and dangerous and the princes are afraid of them and can't refuse their beckoning or upset them in anyway...then suddenly after the h us kidnapped the princes not only have no fear but exert intimidation and disregard as though they held all the power all along. I was confused as to why they caused the h so much suffering and fear if they could have done that all along?

Finally the relationships the h has with the three fae males is left still somewhat undefined. Does she marry one and unofficially be with two? Does she legally marry all three? Orion was imagining a baby, did they work out how that is going to work? I get that they had great sex with her, but I felt like the parameters of their relationship as a group were left largely undefined and explained. My brain craved more from them.

Having said all that, I enjoyed this three book series. I thought the h was smart, funny, brave, curious and charming at times. Her inner monologs actually made me smile and laugh out loud in real life a few times.

I liked the way the courts were set up and described, the world building was decent. I liked the side characters, especially the troll. Outside of the aforementioned continuity issues or lack of elaboration on certain things, it was a fun and easy read.

A Powerful Ending To A Powerful Series

This series couldn’t have ended any better than with the finale that Court of Midnight brought us. Not only was this story powerful, but so was this entire series. Court of Midnight brings you on a wild ride as soon as you begin the book. Starting right where Court of Frost left off, were pulled into a magical realm of feelings with near loss, action brought on by saving the ones they love and lost and war, and acceptance with who you are and how fighting it wont change what's destined for you. The story shares life lessons that not only fit in their world, but fits in ours today.

I love how after everything that was thrown at these characters, they never strayed from who they are. They never let what was thrown at them, weaken them. With Cress on the line, the boys didn’t care what would happen to them, so long as they got to Cress and saved her, nothing else mattered. This story is about determination, and you see that right then and there the moment they lose Cress. We see it again when Cress doesn’t feel she's worthy enough for her magic, with Sorrell being that constant reassurance, and the huge conflict with Tyr and the King. Not once did any of them back down at.

This story, and the even series, is all about destiny. Cress finding the castle. Cress feeling at home with Roan, Orion, and Sorrell. And even Nellie, without spoiling too much of the story, her involvement with all of them and Amnestia. It was as if the Gods destined each and every one of them for that fateful moment.

And speaking of Gods, Helen and Lucinda, are the Gods for this very series right here. The Twisted Fae series was beautifully written, every moment of humor, sadness, the feel of happiness, and bringing us to the edge of our seat, was written effortlessly and put in at just the right moment every time. This is a series that is definitely worth the read and that's none like it.

Well that was certainly an adventure! I still stand by my decision that this series would make a good introductory series into the the fae romance genre. It has some slightly darker aspects but tame compared to some there’s not a major dark element or bullying to the story. I enjoyed that this book we got more information about the Brightling Court, it was more tense with more drama surrounding Cressida and her men.

I liked the added twist where Tyr was concerned, when his true motivations and treason was revealed it just sounds exactly like him. The Court of Midnight wasn’t featured as much just mentions from Orion based on past memories which becomes clearer eventually. He's the perfect villain for this story, playing both sides and from the darkest court, the court of Midnight, corrupted from a young age but he proves that he was right at home in the darkness.

Cressida finally got all her men as the Ice Man himself the Prince of Frost finally caved to his desire I liked that each of her men were different and yet as a unit they fit together perfectly. Orion’s past is hinted at more and I love their whole brotherly relationship so much. The close bond with each other is what makes their entire polyamorous relationship work!

Cressida is the same as she always is, loud, talkative, naive and innocent but she’s loyal, loving and deterring to do the right thing and hard to deter once she’s set her mind to something. Her friendship with Nellie features more in this story as well which I reply enjoyed seeing. Especially when the little twist about Nellie was revealed.

Overall, I did really enjoy this book, the drama, the spicy scenes but for me I do wish that the epilogue was a little longer as I was left with a few unanswered questions. Nothing critical to the story as a whole though. I also would have liked a little more to have come with Cress and her court. There was no major conclusion the revelation of Cress’s true identity and how the other courts would have dealt with it. However, what I did like the most was how Cressida brought light into her men’s lives that was uniquely fit them and their needs.

As the second book did, so did this one. It follows where the second one ended. Being kidnapped is the least of what Cress needs to worry about when she gets to know the plan behind everything and the three princes has to fight against the clock if they want to bring her back to them. But when the war is coming to an end they need to trust in their bond if they wish to prevail.

I have to say i loved this series without any doubt, but it hurts my heart to say im disappointed with how it ended. I wish there was more. The start of the book was intense and it was hard to put it down, but when i got to the ending, im sitting left with more questions than answers. The prince of frost finally gave in to his emotions and believe me when i say im overly happy for that. But whit how the last chapter ended and the epilogue started/ended i cant help but wonder. What happens to Cress and the Princess? Will they stay close to the human castle or will they leave? What about the crimson queen, will she accept Cress? And well i cant hide the fact that i hoped for a scene with Cress and all 3 princes. I also felt like Roan got cut short on this relationship with Cress.
When the epilogue started it seemed like the focus was more on Nellie that the others..

But the ending did not pull the book to much down in the rating, instead it just made it hard to put it on the top. Tho i still recommend it and i still absolutely loved the series

This is the final book in the Twisted Fae series and it was a fantastic ending. These two authors did a wonderful job writing together. I've been reading Lucinda for a while and I couldn't even tell who wrote what, it flowed so smoothly. Together they created a magical world of Fae vs Humans that captivated you from the get go and held you until the very last sentence.

In this final book, we have a lot of action, suspense, fighting, learning about the past and of course some sexy romance. There are some twists in this one that I didn't see coming but could not have worked out any better. Cress, Roan, Orion and Sorrel have been through one heck of a journey and the obstacles thrown at them in this book were intense. They way they come together and fight for each other, that's the good stuff. That's the type of thing we read romance for.

I've enjoyed this whole series and I hate to see these characters say goodbye. I don't think the authors could have come up with a better ending though. If they happened to decide to write more about some of the other characters in this series I wouldn't be upset at all. Hint Hint. :)

Fantastic Conclusion to a great series!!

This final book in the Twisted Fae series was an explosive one! With lots of emotions, action, adventure and suspense, this final story will keep you on the edge of your seat, utterly captivated and highly entertained until the final page! These amazing authors take us on a wild adventure that have our pulses racing and our palms sweating.

Cress is an amazing character. She is stronger, braver and ready to kick some butt. With her men at her side she can conquer her fears and accept the magical gifts she’s been given.

The Twisted Fae series is beautifully written, with outstanding imagery on every page, fantastic characters that you can’t help falling in love with, and intense emotions that will have you laughing, crying or just gushing with love.

This series is definitely worth the read. Highly recommend for all fantasy RH lovers.

Everything has come to a head and the stakes are high. Time for our heroine and heroes to make a stand. Hopefully, it won't be a last stand type of thing.

This is book three of the series and the conclusion. I highly recommend starting at the beginning.

This is a fantasy story that has a bit of a reverse harem going on. The writing is good and easy to read. By this time, both the characters and the setting are well developed and have a definite sense of depth and purpose. As the concluding book in the series, we get a lot of action as there are multiple threads to deal with, not least of which is the big bad. Along the way, we manage to find time for some steamy stress relief as well. Overall, this was a big dramatic conclusion to the series and it worked very well. It made an excellent cap to the entire adventure.

Highly recommended.

I feel like authors missed the opportunity in making 4th book, or just made the 3rd one longer.

And 4th would be Court of Brightling.

This is an OMG! I love it story. It is a story that draws you in and doesn’t let go. Cress and the guys go through so much in this part of the series. It is completely jammed packed with action, suspense, drama, mystery, and some very heated scenes. The story is emotional and surprising at times. The ending is perfect and you wish that there was more. Helen Scott and Lucinda Dark together make such a magnificent team. The writing is flawless and the flow of the story is superb. You are unable to tell who wrote which part as it is so beautifully written. This is a series that is a must read. The 3rd and final book in the series is absolutely stunning. I would love to read more of these two magnificent writers.

I knew this book wouldnt let me down! With an explosive start that had me reading well into the night, this book gave me all the feels and more that the first 2 gave me. We start from when Tyl kidnapped Cress and took her to The human kings castle for her to be killed! I felt all the guys emotions when they figured out what had happened and I love Roan standing up to his mum for Cress (I hate a mummas boy!) Sorrell shocked me the most with his reaction to Cress being gone and I knew there would be some sexy scenes with him involved. I was on the edge of my seat for most of the book and went from teary eyes, to laugh to my jaw being on the floor in shock! Fabulous end to the series and really worth a read.

Well, that was unexpected and at the same time totally expected. The big power reveal from her Brightling court ancestry was good, I just wish it had been bigger, but of course, I still enjoyed reading it, I'm just a glutton for big dramatic moments.

I'm a little disappointed in the lack of a foursome situation, what with all the internal monologues thinking about it, and I would have appreciated a longer scene with Sorrell finally giving in, given that it took 2 1/2 books for it to happen. Still enjoyable, but I've been spoiled by some other books that were all smut with a sprinkling of plot. So it's probably just me.

In conclusion, great series, love them bois, the queens can rot, and Nellie is da bomb!!

Wow what an ending to a great series. It's written by 2 authors and you can't tell when one starts to write and other ends. It has a fantastic plotline that just draws you in. From the very first page it's full of action, mystery, suspense, betrayal and full of twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat. I love cress, who is a witty, strong female, who knows what she has to do. I love that roan stood up to his mum. Sorrell shocked me with his feelings towards cress when she went missing and Orion; well I just want to hug him and tell him don't blame yourself (he's my favourite). This is a fantastic series and one I could not put it down.

Wow this was so good!!! But I already know that this book wasn't going to disappoint. It started off with a "BAM" jammed packed with action, suspense, drama, mystery, and of course steamy romance to keep you hook from beginning to end. I was on edge throughout most of the book and I experienced lots of different emotions. Sad that series is over but what a ending so worth a one click trust me you won't regret it. An epic adventure of new love, almost losses, perfectly placed plot twists and abundant court politics! This story was fun, creative, original, and almost sinister. The authors include many a life lesson that should be learned and followed in today’s world, so much so they left me reflecting throughout the story! I love Cress to the ends of the fae realm and back, her wittiness and ability to stand up and be up front one my heart much like the men’s hearts. All together this was a fantastic ending and wrap to an action filled series, one I will recommend to many!

Even before book two ended in a decidedly unhappy spot, I know I was really looking forward to the conclusion of this trilogy, and it certainly did not disappoint. This book has it all - there were plot twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat, there were steamy scenes that drew me in and wrapped themselves around me, and there were battle scenes that made me cry and cheer! This series brought me on an epic adventure with a conclusion that made it all worthwhile. Read this series today, and you won't regret it!!!

This final book was everything I wanted it to be. I may wish the story never ended because I fell in love with this world and these characters, but it was given a worthy ending. This book has just as much (if not more) steaminess, action, drama, and mystery than the other two books! This one does have a little more of a serious note to it and less playfulness as the stakes in their world just come to a head, but it is definitely a page-turning read all the way through the epilogue. You won't want to put it down.

Court of Midnighth, the third book of the Twisted Fae series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). I enjoyed the plot twist at the end of the last book, and the progression of that story line in Court of Midnight. There are, unfortunately, continuity issues again and the story could have been stronger with more details. My 3.5 is rounded down as I see missed opportunities to layer the tension, the dratted inconsistencies between books in this series, and the general feeling that there was more that could have been explained.

this whole series was absolutely wholesome but the ending fell short for me. I wish the epilogue had been about their wedding or something so give closure to their story. Also i felt like the fact that she was a princess was sort of glossed over by everyone? Plus, we were teased a group scene and never got it which was also disappointing.

I loved the first 2 books so kind of bummed out with how this last one ended. As far as the main big bad, i thought the way that was concluded was done well but we got no closure with the characters imo

I read this series in a one book format, so everything blended together nicely for me. A human discovers she is not so human after all and might be a lost line of FAE. Enter 3 broody males who are ensnared by her bravery, charm and heart. I think overall this series delivered on the romance side of things where you were able to see each of the threads of her relationship to her MMCs develop and strengthen. I did enjoy the twists and turns at the end; however, I kind of wish we saw more with the Frost Queen since that area of the plot was never completed. Plus I’m always a sucker for group scenes and we never got a full complete one.

Court of Midnight is the 3rd and finale book of this series and we aren't let down. I loved this so much I could of read more.
In this story we have action, mysteries solved and let's not forget the hot and steamy scene's.
I was taken on an adventure and fell in love with the characters.
The writing from one character to the next was flawless and I enjoyed being able to get to know them.
A must read for lovers of fantasy and RH
