A priest is castrated and left to die in the nave of his church. A prostitute is found dead in the streets of Southwark, her throat slashed. As Gavin Rownt investigates the priest's murder, Graeme Ore searches for the prostitute's killer. But neither man can succeed without the other's help. In this third installment of the Gavin Rownt Medieval Mysteries, Rownt and Ore must plumb the depths of the depravity found in the souls of men, priests and laymen alike.
Likable main characters who seem destined to stay the same, and to always live hand to mouth. Not a lot of “detection” or brain power in use. I enjoyed the book though, mostly, except the parts from the point of view of the killer.
Another fun read! Especially if you like this time period and London. It is also an excellent mystery. I would not hesitate to recommend this book to others.
