Sara spent the last eight years living with the regret of pushing the love of her life out the door. Hayden Thompson was the one that got away. Except, Sara all but kicked her to the curb. She had no one to blame for the lack of love in her life but herself. She let love get away and she learned to live without it. She had her career and she was happy with that.
So when the younger sister of a client ends up being Hayden, it throws her off her game. She never expected to see Hayden again. But she did imagine it. It went a lot better in her mind than it did in real life. Hayden can't even stand being in the same room as Sara. She doesn't even want to acknowledge that they ever had a relationship.
As much disdain as Hayden shows towards Sara, she can tell there's still a strong connection between them. She knows she still loves Hayden, but the question is, does Hayden still love her?
I really liked this story. The chemistry level between Hayden and Sara was what made this story believable and likable. Reliving the past to understand what to correct in the now really brought Sara and Hayden out of their zones. Realizing they never stopped loving each other was the push they needed to act like grown ups and fix their relationship. I did have two problems both regarding Tyler. First, Tyler letting Hayden take a pot infused cookie without telling her resulting in her being high against her will. Then the end with Tyler announcing the baby is his..... both unimportant facts we did not need. However I still liked the story and this writer.
One thing I don’t like in a book is flipping back and forth between past and present happenings. Understanding what happened years before being essential to understanding the present story is understandable, however. Sara and Hayden had a long history to get through to understand what they were experiencing presently. This author took the time to make sure that I got a very clear picture of what had happened to get them to the present feelings they were experiencing. I fully appreciated this fact and it made this book completely enjoyable as well as totally entertaining. Well worth someone giving it a read.
Bearing in mind that most readers like Emotional Drama, by which I mean conflicts that arise because of people being mean, or minor misunderstandings, as opposed to Essential Drama, caused by unavoidable circumstances. In this case (spoiler alert) a mother who has an insatiable appetite for money. This never happens in real life to a hospitality tycoon and his daughter.
This is one of my favorite books by far, you could feel the emotions of the characters, I'm not ashamed to admit I shed a few tears reading this. Can't wait to read more of her books.
This was one of her best and most touching story, with lots of real life dramas and issues and heartbreaking mommy issues moments. One of her most emotional story.
